Xiaomi has announced a new set of devices that will no longer enjoy software support. A total of 10 devices have been included in the company’s end-of-support (EOS) list. This means that the products will not enjoy firmware and security updates anymore.

The 10 devices have spent upwards of two years since their launch and at least one Android update. Xiaomi will also discontinue the regular security updates for the 10 devices. The devices are the Redmi K20, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi 7. Others are the Redmi Y3, Mi Pad 4, Mi Pad 4 Plus, Mi Play, and Mi 9 SE.

The inclusion of the 10 Xiaomi devices in the EOS list means that Xiaomi will no longer provide responses to security vulnerability reports. The Redmi Note 7 series was released three years ago and have enjoyed just one Android OS upgrade. The Redmi K20 is also about 3 years old.

Owners of the 10 Xiaomi devices did not enjoy the latest MIUI 13 update rolled out by Xiaomi. The end-of-support list is a dynamic list of older devices that have gone through their software cycle. Generally, most OEMs have a maximum of two firmware upgrades in the lifetime of a device. This could span a number of years.

TWRP, which stands for Team Win Recovery Project is the most commonly used custom recovery on Android devices. It is essential to flash aftermarket Android builds (custom ROMs) as the built-in stock recoveries on the phones/tablets do not allow it. Hence, TWRP is the first thing to install if a user wants to use an alternate OS. The project supports a number of devices officially and now Realme XT, Realme X2, and Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 / 4 Plus also join the list.

Realme XT is one of the first smartphones with a 64MP primary camera. It was launched in India with ColorOS 6 based on Android 9.0 Pie on-board. Soon, an improved version of the phone called Realme X2 debuted with Snapdragon 730G instead of Snapdragon 712 but with the same software. However, both of them were recently updated to Realme UI based on Android 10.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 4 Plus. This duo launched exclusively in China with MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo but it has received only one major update so far and that is MIUI 10. The underlying software is still Oreo and it is yet to receive MIUI 11 when the company is moved on to the development of MIUI 12.

But now, as these devices support TWRP officially, their users can finally use a solid trustworthy custom recovery to flash custom ROM, kernels, and mods of their choice.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus went officially on sale in China just two days after the official announcement. The new Android tablet is being offered with a starting price tag of 1899 Yuan, which roughly translates into about $275 for the version with 64 GB of internal storage. The variant with 128 GB is available as well, but obviously with a higher price tag: 2099 Yuan, which roughly translates into about $305.

It is possible to choose between two color variants: Black and Gold. The new Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus is the first Mi tablet since the Mi Pad 2 to come with a wide 10.1-inch display. The panel has a 16:10 aspect ratio, LCD technology and a Full HD+ resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels with rounded corners making it more elegant. The hardware side hides an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset by Qualcomm, not a flagship SoC but still a performing upper-midrange chipset.

It is paired with 4 GB of RAM and, as mentioned above, with 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus has a single rear camera with a 13 MP resolution and a 5 MP front camera with software-based and AI-backed facial recognition. At the end of June, Xiaomi had launched the Mi Pad 4 tablet with 8-inch screen, Snapdragon 660 SoC and 6,000mAh battery. The tablet was made available in LTE and Wi-Fi only versions. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has launched a bigger variant of the tablet as Mi Pad 4 Plus. Here is all the information available on the new Xiaomi tablet.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus has arrived with a 10.1-inch display that carries support for Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels along with an aspect ratio of 16:10. It offers a contrast ratio of 1000:1. The device measures 245.6 x 149.8 x 7.99mm and it weighs 485 grams. It features a larger battery of 8,620mAh capacity that carries support for 5V/2A charging.

Like the regular Xiaomi Mi Pad 4, the Plus variant also comes with 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and at its front is f/2.0 aperture 5-megapixel camera that carries support for HDR and face recognition. The Snapdragon 660 is present under the hood of the Mi Pad 4 Plus.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus supports 802.11ac Wi-Fi, 2×2 Wi-Fi MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 and a single nano-SIM card slot for LTE connectivity. It also supports GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS and Beidou. The Mi Pad 4 Plus is equipped with sensors like gyroscope, accelerometer, ambient light sensor, hall sensor and electronic compass. The other features of the tablet include 3.5mm audio jack and MIUI flavored Android 8.1 Oreo OS.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is still the only tablet powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor. It also has an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. However, there are people who want a tablet with a larger screen. There are unconfirmed reports Xiaomi is working on a larger tablet for this group of people.

According to mysmartprice, Xiaomi will launch a 10-inch version of the Mi Pad 4. This variant is reported to also carry the “Plus” suffix, hence it will be known as the Mi Pad 4 Plus.

The resolution of the display is unknown but we will ask you not to raise your hopes as it may be the same as the 8-inch version. It is also expected to have the same Snapdragon 660 processor.

The Mi Pad 4 Plus is said to come in two variants – a 4GB RAM + 64GB model and a 4GB RAM + 128GB model. Both will have LTE and be available in the same black and gold color variants as the smaller model.

Along with the bigger screen, we also expect the 10-inch Mi Pad to have a bigger battery. The rest of the specs including the camera configuration are unknown.

There is no info on a release date yet but the possibility of it coming with MIUI 10 right out of the box seems low. Nevertheless, we advise you take this with a pinch of salt. However, if this is true, the Mi Pad 4 Plus will be Xiaomi’s first 10-inch tablet.

Xiaomi launched the 4th generation Mi Pad about a month ago. The Snapdragon 660-powered tablet comes in Wi-Fi only and LTE variants but since it went on sale, only the Wi-Fi version has been available for purchase. Starting tomorrow, Xiaomi will begin to sell the LTE version.

The Mi Pad 4 LTE version comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage and will sell for ¥1499 (~$220). It also has GPS and a nano-SIM slot. The rest of the specs are the same as that of the non-LTE models.

The tablet comes with an 8-inch 1920 x 1200 display with a 16:10 aspect ratio. It is the first and only tablet so far to have a Snapdragon 660 AIE processor powering it.

It has a single 13MP f/2.0 sensor on its back and a 5MP f/2.0 sensor in front for video calling and selfies. It runs Android Oreo with MIUI on top and packs a 6000mAh battery. It will be available in black and gold.

Xiaomi had launched the MIUI 10 in May, but the Mi Pad 4 tablet that was launched in June had arrived with MIUI 9 onboard. It seems that the stable version of MIUI 10 will be soon coming to Mi Pad 4 as the company has just rolled out its beta edition.

The MIUI 10 global beta has a version number of 8.7.5. The last two numbers indicate that beta update is just five days old. The update which can be sideloaded on the tablet weighs 1.21 GB. MIUI 10 comes with improved design and it promises faster performance than MIU 9. MIUI 10 also includes support for gestures like long press and swiping actions. However, the gesture-based actions are only meant for smartphones and it does not apply for the Mi Pad 4.

Apart from Mi Pad 4, the other Xiaomi devices that have the MIUI 10 global beta 8.7.5 are Mi 6, Mi Mix 2, Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 5, Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX. The MIUI 10 global beta 8.7.5 also includes LDAC for Bluetooth devices. However, only Xiaomi devices that are running on Android Oreo will be receiving the support for LDAC.

The Mi Pad 4 comes with an 8-inch IPS LCD display that supports 16:10 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The Snapdragon 660 SoC is present under the hood of the tablet. It has an f/2.0 aperture rear camera of 13-megapixel and an f/2.0 aperture frontal shooter of 5-megapixel. The front-facing camera also supports face unlock. There is no microSD card slot on the tablet.

The 3 GB RAM variant includes 32 GB of storage whereas the 4 GB model has 64 GB of storage. These variants only support Wi-Fi connectivity and they are respectively priced at 1,099 Yuan (~$165) and 1,399 Yuan (~$210). There is another 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage model that carries support for LTE connectivity. It carries a price tag of 1,499 Yuan (~$225).

After several months of speculations, Xiaomi finally launched the Mi Pad 4, its fourth-gen tablet model. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 adopts a design style different from those of its predecessors and on top of that it comes with an LTE version! Here are some pictures of the Mi Pad 4 getting unboxed by the guys at Chinese blog – Sina Technologies.

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 sports an 8-inch display just like its predecessors but in this case it adopts a 16:10 screen which ensures the device isn’t as wide as the previous models. Thus, the tablet can easily be held with one hand. The slab also has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The top and bottom bezels seem to have been trimmed and are looking thinner than the predecessors. The device still comes with a centrally-placed selfie shooter while the home button is now designed to be inside the display.

The rear design also adopts a design which is slightly different from the previous models. It is an all-metal design but since there is an LTE version it became imperative that space be created for the antenna band and that was done at the top edge. The speaker grills at the back of the earlier Mi Pad models are also missing at the back. Instead, the device packs a design with the speaker grills located on either side of the USB Type-C port at the bottom. There is a single rear camera located at the top left corner. The design also includes the Mi logo at the back.

The major upgrade on the Mi Pad 4 is on the internals. The device is powered by the efficient Snapdragon 660 premium mid-range chipset paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM while there are 32GB/64GB storage versions. Xiaomi may release a 2GB RAM + 16GB model later on. The device will get its juice from a 6000mAh battery which is reputed to provide continuous music playback for up to 16 hours and streaming of up to 15 episodes of TV series.

Yesterday’s brief appearance of the Redmi 6 Pro and Mi Pad 4 on the official website of Xiaomi had revealed their entire specifications and features.  This morning, the Chinese manufacturer has finally listed Redmi 6 Pro and Mi Pad 4 on its official site which confirms that these devices are now official.

Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro Specs, Features, Pricing and Availability

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro has a 5.84-inch FHD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. The phone comes with a software solution to hide the notch. The metallic rear of the phone houses 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup and a fingerprint reader. The front camera of 5-megapixel supports AI portrait mode and AI face unlock.

The Redmi 6 Pro is yet another phone with Snapdragon 625 SoC. It is fueled by 4,000mAh battery. It has a dedicated slot for adding a microSD card. Some of its other features include MIUI 9 based Android 8.1 Oreo, IR remote control, 3.5mm audio jack, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11n and so on.

The Redmi 6 Pro will be available for buying in China starting from tomorrow (June 26) at 10 AM. The 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM variants are respectively priced at 999 Yuan (~$153), 1,199 Yuan ($183), 1,299 Yuan (~$199). The Mi Pad 4 has an 8-inch screen that produces 16:10 aspect ratio and its rear panel is made out metal. Since the device is slightly smaller than its predecessor, it offers better grip for one-hand usage. The Snapdragon 660 chipset powers the Mi Pad 4. It receives power from 6,000mAh battery. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture. It is the first tablet from Xiaomi to support face unlock. The Wi-Fi only 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM editions of the tablet are respectively priced at 1,099 Yuan (~$168) and 1,399 Yuan (~$215). The LTE model that features 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM is priced at 1,499 Yuan (~$230). The first sale of the Mi Pad 4 will begin in China on June 29 at 10 AM.

Ahead of its official release tomorrow, Xiaomi has unveiled the Mi Pad 4. The Mi Pad 4 is Xiaomi’s 4th tablet and the first in the world to come have a Snapdragon 660 processor

Design

The Mi Pad 4 is a compact tablet. That is what it has going for it in terms of design. Even though the screen is just a tiny bit bigger at 8 inches over the Mi Pad 3’s 7.9-inch screen, it has a smaller body. Its dimensions are given as 200.2 x 120.3 x 7.9mm. Compare that to its predecessor which measures 200.4 x 132.6 x 7mm. Xiaomi says the smaller body makes the Mi Pad 4 easy to grip with one hand.

On the back of the device, the Mi Pad 4 strongly resembles the 2018 iPad with its two-tone color design. Its a nice design but it is a copy. Overall, the Mi Pad 4 looks great, particularly the black variant.

Mi Pad 4 Specs

The Mi Pad 4 has an 8-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. This is a lower resolution compared to last year’s model and this is partly because Xiaomi has switched to a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 4:3. And to be honest, we don’t expect a 2560 x 1600 panel on a mid-range tablet.

Xiaomi has put a Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC inside the Mi Pad 4, making it the first tablet to be powered by it. There is 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. There is a storage expansion slot if you need extra space.

The Mi Pad 4 has a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with HDR and beauty mode. It also has a 5MP f/2.0 front camera that supports face recognition.

There is a USB-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band Wi-Fi for connectivity. The LTE model has GPS and a nano-SIM slot. Both models have a 6000mAh battery.

Mi Pad 4 Price and Availability

The Mi Pad 4 comes in black and gold. The 3GB and 32GB WiFi model is priced at ¥1099 (~$169) while the 4GB RAM + 64GB version is ¥1399 (~$215). For ¥100 (¥1499/230 )more, you can pick up the 4GB + 64GB LTE model. There is no info as to when it will be available for purchase.

Alongside the Redmi Pro 6 launching on June 25, Xiaomi will also announce a new tablet – the Mi Pad 4. While there have been leaks covering its specs and price in the last few days, Xiaomi has decided to confirm some of these features.

In a teaser poster for the Mi Pad 4, Xiaomi has confirmed the tablet will have an 8-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is slightly different from the 4:3 aspect ratio of the Mi Pad 3.

There are arguments for and against 16:10 aspect ratio, one advantage the aspect ratio has is it is great for gaming and watching movies while 4:3 is great for reading and web browsing.

With the Mi Pad 4 packing a Snapdragon 660 processor and rumored to have a gaming mode, it makes sense as to why they are switching to 16:10. With that aspect ratio, we expect the tablet to have a 1920 x 1200 aspect ratio like some of Samsung’s tablets.

Ever since Xiaomi made the announcement that the Mi Pad 4 will be launched on June 25, the airwaves have been buzzing with several details of the fourth-generation Mi tablet. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 real design may have been spotted in a couple of leaked images which GSMArena describes as advertising images.

The images unmask the Mi Pad 4 front and rear design and there seems to be a change in the design. Noticeably, the front bezels look like what has been trimmed when compared to those of the Mi Pad, Pad 2 and Pad 3. The bezels obviously look thinner on the top and bottom side and the company seems to have removed the front Mi branding. While at the back, the Mi logo is still at the bottom part. Xiaomi still retains the camera position but the sensor looks bigger than those of the Pad 2 and 3. We can also see the 3.5mm audio jack at the upper edge.

The Mi Pad 4 is expected to feature an 8-inch display on top a 16:10 aspect ratio. The device has been confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM on one variant. There is likely a 3GB variant as well. Xiaomi recently teased the presence of facial recognition feature for unlocking the tablet. As far as the camera goes, it is going to be a 13MP rear and 5MP front camera affair while the device will be fuelled by a 6000mAh battery. The pricing of the Pad 4 also leaked recently, suggesting there will be a 4G and Wi-Fi variant.

Teclast is a Chinese manufacturer that has been making tablets for years. They even have a couple of 2-in-1s and laptops in their product lineup. Ahead of the release of Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 4, Teclast M89 tablet is an alternative which costs less and has some features the Mi Pad 4 will be missing when it launches.

The Teclast M89 has a 7.9-inch display with a 2048 x 1536 resolution giving it a higher ppi than the Mi Pad 4 which has an 8-inch screen and a 1920 x 1200 resolution. It also has Gorilla Glass covering it.

Powering the M89 is a MediaTek MT8176 2.1GHz hexa-core processor paired with a PowerVR 6250 GPU. There is 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage. For optics, there is an 8MP camera on the back and a 5MP selfie camera.

Teclast has packed the M89 with stereo speakers and a dedicated amplifier.  It has a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth 4.0, a MicroSD card slot, and a micro HDMI cable for connectivity. It also has dual-band WiFi and GPS and runs Android Nougat.

Xiaomi is now teasing on the features that will be arriving on the upcoming Mi Pad 4 tablet that will be made official on June 25. Its recent teasers have revealed that it will be featuring an 8-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 660 chipset and a single rear camera. Through a fresh teaser, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi Pad 4 will be arriving with AI driven facial recognition feature.

The below poster reveals that the Mi Pad 4 won’t be coming with a fingerprint reader, but it will be equipped with facial recognition. Apple iPhone X, Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition and OPPO Find X are all equipped with 3D structured light module that allow these devices to support 3D facial recognition. The Mi Pad 4 is unlikely to feature such an advanced face scanning function.

As the teaser reveals, the Mi Pad 4 tablet will make use of AI to conveniently scan, recognize and unlock the device just by simply looking at it. There is no information available on whether the tablet will be comin with an infrared camera for carrying out AI face unlock in low light conditions.

The AI face unlock feature of the Mi Pad 4 will rely on the rumored 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It is expected to house a rear-mounted camera of 13-megapixel. It may arrive with a 6,000mAh battery.

There is some conflicting information available on the variants and pricing of the Mi Pad 4. Leaked information coming from China has revealed that the base model will only carry support for Wi-Fi connectivity and it will feature 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. This model is expected to be priced at 1,499 Yuan (~$230). There will be a higher model with 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. This variant is pegged to cost 1,999 Yuan ($308).

Another source has revealed that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4’s base model will be available in options such as 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. The Wi-Fi + LTE variant may feature 64 GB of storage and 4 GB of RAM. The source of this information did not share details on the pricing of Mi Pad 4 variants but has claimed that it will be available in colors like Black and Gold.

The TENAA listing has revealed that Redmi 6 Pro may come in storage models such as 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB that will respectively feature 2 GB, 3 GB and 4 GB of RAM. However, fresh information reveals that the smartphone will be arriving in the market in three models such as 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM.

He has also claimed that the Redmi 6 Pro will be arriving in five colors such as Gold, Black, Pink, Blue and Red which has been already confirmed by Xiaomi.

Mi Pad 4

A recent leak has revealed that the Mi Pad 4 will be arriving in two variants. The base model with 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM will be a Wi-Fi only device with a price tag of 1,499 Yuan (~$230). Based on the new leak, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 will come in two variants:

Earlier today, the company shared the official renders of the color variants of the Redmi 6 Pro smartphone. Also, through the official Weibo account of Mi pad, the company has confirmed on the processor that will be powering the forthcoming Mi Pad 4 tablet.

As it can be seen in the below poster, the Mi Pad 4 will be fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset. The “smart game acceleration” on the poster suggests that the tablet will be optimized to deliver better gaming experience. The octa-core chipset of SD660 can deliver a clocking speed of 2.2 GHz. However, leaked firmware files of the tablet that had surfaced earlier this year claimed that its SD660 SoC could be under clocked to function at 2.0 GHz.

The launch poster of the Mi Pad 4 had also revealed that the device would be featuring an 8-inch display like the predecessor models. It will be supporting Full HD resolution. The device may sport a slimmer form factor for better grip. It is speculated that the display of the tablet may support an aspect ratio of 18:9.

The Mi Pad 4 will be featuring a single camera of 13-megapixel on its rear. A front-facing camera of 5-megapixel will be also available on the device. The tablet is expected to be powered by 6,000mAh battery that will be carry support for 5V/2A charging. Recently, we reported that Xiaomi could soon launch its next-generation tablet — Mi Pad 4 as the company hinted on its Weibo account about good news coming. Now, the company has announced that the Mi Pad 4 will be officially launched in China on 25th June.

Based on the previous reports, the fourth-generation Xiaomi Mi Pad tablet is expected to retain the 7.9-inch LCD display and will offer Full-HD screen resolution with pixel density of 320 PPI. Further, a leaked firmware file suggests 18:9 aspect ratio but it is not yet confirmed.

The upcoming tablet is said to have such a form-factor that it will offer one-hand usage. Earlier, it was reported that the Mi Pad 4 will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 processor, clocked at either 2.0GHz or 2.2GHz. However, the memory configurations details such as RAM and ROM for the Mi Pad 4 are not yet known.

While reports indicate that the upcoming Mi Pad tablet will come with support for the microSD card to expand the storage capacity, it is doubtful given that the Mi Pad 3 doesn’t have a microSD card slot.

On the optics front, the device is expected to come with a 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13855 camera sensor at the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with Samsung S5K5E8 sensor for video calling. The Mi Pad 4 is expected to be running on company’s own MIUI based on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

The device is expected to come powered by a 6,000mAh battery. A 3C certification revealed that the device has a charger specification of 5V/2A and a charging power of 10W.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 has been in the works for quite some time now but there has been no concrete detail on its launch date from Xiaomi. The company announced the Mi Pad 3 in April last year but now we are in June and all what we know is a couple of likely details and certifications but no launch modalities have been revealed. Well. that may soon change if Xiaomi’s latest Weibo post on the Mi Pad Weibo handle is anything to go by.

The Xiaomi Pad Weibo handle has been relatively inactive for a while. The last post before this one was posted in January last year and since then there has been nothing until now. The short Weibo post just hints at a good news coming at 10 am tomorrow. We don’t know what exactly the news is but it could possibly be the Mi Pad 4 unveiling or the announcement of a launch date for the 4th-gen Mi Pad.

The tablet market has not enjoyed a successful run, mainly due to the proliferation of phablet-sized phones. It is speculated that the company may use the same stage to announce the Redmi 6 Pro as well as Mi Pad 4. A new tablet with model number M1806D9W has been certified by China Compulsory Certification (3C) body in China. Moreover, it has also received approval China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT).

The 3C listing of the device clearly mentions that it is a tablet and it carries support for 5V/2A charging. Since the company is rumored to be working on a successor model for Mi Pad 3 from 2017, it is very likely that the M1806D9W device is the upcoming Mi Pad 4. Leaked firmware files of the device that had surfaced few months ago had revealed that it features a 6,000mAh battery which is a bit smaller than the 6,600mAh battery that powers the predecessor model.

The device is also carry support for 5.8GHz/2.4GHz dual-band Wi-Fi. It is likely that like the predecessor model, the Mi Pad 4 will be only arriving in Wi-Fi model.

According to the TENAA listing of Xiaomi M150D1SE that is speculated to debut as Redmi 6 Pro, it features a 19:9 aspect ratio supporting display of 5.84 inches which produces FHD+ resolution. It is driven by 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. Its variants include 16 GB storage + 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM. It is packed with a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

A Xiaomi phone with model number of M1807E8S that was recently approved by 3C body in China is rumored to break cover as Mi Max 3.  Rumors have it that it has 6.99-inch FHD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, Snapdragon 710 chipset, 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants, massive 5,500mAh battery and dual camera setup with 20-megapixel Sony IMX363 as primary sensor.

Leaked firmware files of the alleged Mi Pad 4 that had surfaced around two months ago had revealed that it will be driven by under clocked Snapdragon 660 chipset, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera and 6,000mAh battery.

Xiaomi has recently started the beta testing of the MIUI 10. The beta edition is coming to wide range of devices Xiaomi devices in this month. Last year, Xiaomi had introduced the Xiaomi Mi 5X and MIUI 9 through a launch event in July.

Well-known industry analyst Pan Jiutang from China had recently claimed that Xiaomi is developing the Mi Pad 4 tablet. Today, XDA Developers has shared the key specifications of the upcoming Xiaomi tablet through its leaked firmware files.

According to the publication, there are some evidences in the firmware files that show that Xiaomi will indeed release a tablet in the near future. The firmware files contain references for pad that refers to a tablet PC. Its default screen density is set to a low value of 320ppi which is again suitable for a tablet, and it features a huge 6,000mAh battery which is quite big for a smartphone. Also, the ro.build.characteristics property in the build.prop is set to “tablet”. This property is accessed by apps to confirm whether to show a tablet interface. The same property is also set to “tablet” in the predecessor Mi Pad 3, while it is set to default on a smartphone like Mi Max 3.

The publication claims that the Boolean value present in the “is_18x9_ratio_screen” MIUI config is set to true which hints that the tablet may feature an 18:9 aspect ratio. It sounds weird as a tablet with such an elongated screen may look quite absurd. The tablet is expected to feature an LCD panel like the Mi Pad 3.

The firmware files have also revealed that the Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the Mi Pad 4. However, its clocking speed to 2.0 GHz, instead of its usual processing rate of 2.2 GHz. As of this writing, there is no information available on the RAM and storage editions of the Mi Pad 4.

Since the “nosdcard” property is missing from ro.build.characteristics which indicates that the device may feature a microSD card slot. However, it is still doubtful as the Mi Pad 3 does not feature a microSD card slot.

When it comes to photography, the Mi Pad 4 is likely to offers its users with a single rear camera featuring 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13855 sensor with an aperture of 2.0. At the front, it may feature 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The Mi Pad 4 is unlikely to support 4K video shooting. However, it will be arriving with support for portrait mode. Lastly, the device will be lacking NFC connectivity.

The other specs and pricing of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is still under the wraps. As of this writing, there is no information available on its launch date.

Xiaomi launched the Mi Pad 3 in April last year after a two-year hiatus and the third-generation Mi tablet was well received. The month of April is almost running out yet we haven’t heard anything about a successor to the Mi Pad 3. This is despite the confirmation of Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO that the next-gen tablet is in the works. It is interesting to note that the Mi Pad 3 and even the Mi Pad 2 have been out of stock for a while now both in China and on several online e-retail platforms. Xiaomi even removed the product details entirely from its website, thus fuelling speculations that it may have concluded plans to rest the product line. 

However, well-known Chinese tech analyst, Pan Jiutang has hinted that the Mi Pad 3 successor is very well in development and it is coming with lots of expectations. The analyst was responding to an enquiry by a Mi fan who disclosed his anticipation for a new i Pad. By the way, it is not known if Xiaomi would call the next-generation tablet Mi Pad 4 but that may likely be the product’s name eventually.

The Mi Pad 3 is completely sold out because of which it is no longer available for buying on Xiaomi’s store. Jun has not confirmed on company’s plan on replenishing the stocks of Mi Pad 3. Also, he has not given out any information on the arrival time of Mi Pad 4.

The Mi Pad 3 was made official in April 2017. If the company plans to launch a new tablet around April 2018, the company may add new batch of Mi Pad 3 tablets.

Many leading companies like Microsoft, Apple and Samsung are now selling 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrid devices. Hence, Xiaomi is expected to debut Mi Pad 4 as a 2-in-1 device. Rumors are rife that the Mi Pad 4 may support dual booting for Android OS and Windows 10.

The Mi Pad 3 features a 7.9-inch LCD display that supports 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. It is driven by MediaTek MT8176 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It carries an internal storage capacity of 64 GB.

Unlike the Mi Pad 2 from last year that came in Android and Windows 10 versions, the Mi Pad 3 was launched with MIUI 8 skinned Android OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel shooter on its front. It includes a huge 6,600mAh capacity battery.
