<p>The 10 devices have spent upwards of two years since their launch and at least one Android update. Xiaomi will also discontinue the regular security updates for the 10 devices. The devices are the Redmi K20, Redmi Note 7, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi Note 7 Pro, and Redmi 7. Others are the Redmi Y3, Mi Pad 4, Mi Pad 4 Plus, Mi Play, and Mi 9 SE.</p>
<figure id="attachment_206258" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-206258" style="width: 600px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/mi-pad-4-pluspng.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-206258" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/mi-pad-4-pluspng.png?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 4 Plus" width="600" height="558" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/mi-pad-4-pluspng.png 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/mi-pad-4-pluspng-300x279.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-206258" class="wp-caption-text">Mi Pad 4 and Mi Pad 4 Plus</figcaption></figure>
<p>The inclusion of the 10 Xiaomi devices in the EOS list means that Xiaomi will no longer provide responses to security vulnerability reports. The Redmi Note 7 series was released three years ago and have enjoyed just one Android OS upgrade. The Redmi K20 is also about 3 years old.</p>
<p>Owners of the 10 Xiaomi devices did not enjoy the latest MIUI 13 update rolled out by Xiaomi. The end-of-support list is a dynamic list of older devices that have gone through their software cycle. Generally, most OEMs have a maximum of two firmware upgrades in the lifetime of a device. This could span a number of years.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-xt/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme XT</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> is one of the first smartphones with a 64MP primary camera. It was launched in India with ColorOS 6 based on Android 9.0 Pie on-board. Soon, an improved version of the phone called </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-x2/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Realme X2</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> debuted with Snapdragon 730G instead of Snapdragon 712 but with the same software. This duo launched exclusively in China with MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo but it has received only one major update so far and that is MIUI 10. The new Android tablet is being offered with a starting price tag of 1899 Yuan, which roughly translates into about $275 for the version with 64 GB of internal storage. <p>It is possible to choose between two color variants: Black and Gold. The new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-plus">Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus</a> is the first Mi tablet since the Mi Pad 2 to come with a wide 10.1-inch display. The panel has a 16:10 aspect ratio, LCD technology and a Full HD+ resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels with rounded corners making it more elegant. The hardware side hides an octa-core Snapdragon 660 chipset by Qualcomm, not a flagship SoC but still a performing upper-midrange chipset.</p>
<p>It is paired with 4 GB of RAM and, as mentioned above, with 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus has a single rear camera with a 13 MP resolution and a 5 MP front camera with software-based and AI-backed facial recognition. Unlike the new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/01/samsung-galaxy-tab-s4-is-official-with-slim-bezels-s-pen-dex-support-and-powerful-specs/">Samsung Galaxy Tab S4</a>, it also features a Home key which doubles as a fingerprint reader.</p>

There are unconfirmed reports <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> is working on a larger tablet for this group of people.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197850" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Cover-Image.png?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Cover-Image.png 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Cover-Image-150x150.png 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Cover-Image-300x300.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Cover-Image-270x270.png 270w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>
<p>According to <em>mysmartprice</em>, Xiaomi will launch a 10-inch version of the Mi Pad 4. This variant is reported to also carry the “Plus” suffix, hence it will be known as the Mi Pad 4 Plus.</p>
<p>The resolution of the display is unknown but we will ask you not to raise your hopes as it may be the same as the 8-inch version. It is also expected to have the same Snapdragon 660 processor.</p>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 Plus is said to come in two variants &#8211; a 4GB RAM + 64GB model and a 4GB RAM + 128GB model. Both will have LTE and be available in the same black and gold color variants as the smaller model.</p>

<p>Along with the bigger screen, we also expect the 10-inch Mi Pad to have a bigger battery. The rest of the specs including the camera configuration are unknown.</p>

<p>There is no info on a release date yet but the possibility of it coming with MIUI 10 right out of the box seems low. Nevertheless, we advise you take this with a pinch of salt. However, if this is true, the Mi Pad 4 Plus will be Xiaomi&#8217;s first 10-inch tablet.</p>

It seems that the stable version of MIUI 10 will be soon coming to <a href="https://www.gizmochiona.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4">Mi Pad 4</a> as the company has just rolled out its beta edition.</p>
<p>The MIUI 10 global beta has a version number of 8.7.5. The last two numbers indicate that beta update is just five days old. The update which can be sideloaded on the tablet weighs 1.21 GB. MIUI 10 comes with improved design and it promises faster performance than MIU 9. MIUI 10 also includes support for gestures like long press and swiping actions. However, the gesture-based actions are only meant for smartphones and it does not apply for the Mi Pad 4.</p>
<p>Apart from Mi Pad 4, the other Xiaomi devices that have the MIUI 10 global beta 8.7.5 are Mi 6, Mi Mix 2, Redmi S2, Redmi Note 5 Pro, Redmi Note 5, Mi MIX 2S, Mi 5, Mi Note 2 and Mi MIX. The MIUI 10 global beta 8.7.5 also includes LDAC for Bluetooth devices. However, only Xiaomi devices that are running on Android Oreo will be receiving the support for LDAC.</p>

The Xiaomi <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4/">Mi Pad 4</a> adopts a design style different from those of its predecessors and on top of that it comes with an LTE version! Here are some pictures of the Mi Pad 4 getting unboxed by the guys at Chinese blog &#8211; <a href="http://slide.tech.sina.com.cn/notebook/slide_5_37825_118473.html#p=22" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sina Technologies</a>.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-14.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-198408" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-14.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi PAd 4" width="600" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-14.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-14-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-14-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 sports an 8-inch display just like its predecessors but in this case it adopts a 16:10 screen which ensures the device isn&#8217;t as wide as the previous models. Thus, the tablet can easily be held with one hand. The slab also has a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels. The top and bottom bezels seem to have been trimmed and are looking thinner than the predecessors. The device still comes with a centrally-placed selfie shooter while the home button is now designed to be inside the display.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-16.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-198410" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-16.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-16.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-16-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-16-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The rear design also adopts a design which is slightly different from the previous models. It is an all-metal design but since there is an LTE version it became imperative that space be created for the antenna band and that was done at the top edge. The speaker grills at the back of the earlier Mi Pad models are also missing at the back. Instead, the device packs a design with the speaker grills located on either side of the USB Type-C port at the bottom. There is a single rear camera located at the top left corner. The design also includes the Mi logo at the back.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-7.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-198399" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-7.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4" width="600" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-7.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-7-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-7-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The major upgrade on the Mi Pad 4 is on the internals. The device is powered by the efficient Snapdragon 660 premium mid-range chipset paired with 3GB/4GB of RAM while there are 32GB/64GB storage versions. Xiaomi may release a 2GB RAM + 16GB model later on. The device will get its juice from a 6000mAh battery which is reputed to provide continuous music playback for up to 16 hours and streaming of up to 15 episodes of TV series. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-5.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-198397" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-5.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4" width="600" height="449" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-5.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-5-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mipad-4-5-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>

So rather than write a separate post and bore you, we updated the one from this morning.</div></div>
<p>Ahead of its official release tomorrow, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> has unveiled the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4/">Mi Pad 4</a>. The Mi Pad 4 is Xiaomi&#8217;s 4th tablet and the first in the world to come have a Snapdragon 660 processor</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197776" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Official-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 Official" width="628" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Official-2.jpg 628w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Official-2-209x300.jpg 209w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Official-2-768x1101.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Official-2-714x1024.jpg 714w" sizes="(max-width: 628px) 100vw, 628px" /></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Design</strong></h4>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 is a compact tablet. That is what it has going for it in terms of design. Even though the screen is just a tiny bit bigger at 8 inches over the Mi Pad 3&#8217;s 7.9-inch screen, it has a smaller body. Its dimensions are given as 200.2 x 120.3 x 7.9mm. Compare that to its predecessor which measures 200.4 x 132.6 x 7mm. Xiaomi says the smaller body makes the Mi Pad 4 easy to grip with one hand.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197838" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions.png?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 Dimensions" width="1097" height="680" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions.png 1097w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions-300x186.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions-768x476.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions-1024x635.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Dimensions-540x335.png 540w" sizes="(max-width: 1097px) 100vw, 1097px" /></p>
<p>On the back of the device, the Mi Pad 4 strongly resembles the 2018 iPad with its two-tone color design. Its a nice design but it is a copy. Overall, the Mi Pad 4 looks great, particularly the black variant.</p>
<h4><strong>Mi Pad 4 Specs</strong></h4>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 has an 8-inch display with a 1920 x 1200 resolution. This is a lower resolution compared to last year&#8217;s model and this is partly because Xiaomi has switched to a 16:10 aspect ratio instead of 4:3. And to be honest, we don&#8217;t expect a 2560 x 1600 panel on a mid-range tablet.</p>
<p>Xiaomi has put a Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC inside the Mi Pad 4, making it the first tablet to be powered by it. There is 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage. There is a storage expansion slot if you need extra space.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197836" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-camera.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 camera" width="900" height="436" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-camera.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-camera-300x145.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-camera-768x372.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-camera-1024x496.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></p>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 has a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera with HDR and beauty mode. It also has a 5MP f/2.0 front camera that supports face recognition.</p>
<p>There is a USB-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, and dual-band Wi-Fi for connectivity. The LTE model has GPS and a nano-SIM slot. Both models have a 6000mAh battery.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197837" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-featured.png?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 featured" width="885" height="381" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-featured.png 885w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-featured-300x129.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-featured-768x331.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 885px) 100vw, 885px" /></p>

While there have been leaks covering its specs and price in the last few days, Xiaomi has decided to confirm some of these features.</p>
<p>In a teaser poster for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4/">Mi Pad 4</a>, Xiaomi has confirmed the tablet will have an 8-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio. This is slightly different from the 4:3 aspect ratio of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-3/">Mi Pad 3</a>.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197708" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Screen.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4 Screen Teaser" width="506" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Screen.jpg 506w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Screen-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Mi-Pad-4-Screen-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px" /></p>
<p>There are arguments for and against 16:10 aspect ratio, one advantage the aspect ratio has is it is great for gaming and watching movies while 4:3 is great for reading and web browsing.</p>
<p>With the Mi Pad 4 packing a Snapdragon 660 processor and rumored to have a gaming mode, it makes sense as to why they are switching to 16:10. With that aspect ratio, we expect the tablet to have a 1920 x 1200 aspect ratio like some of Samsung&#8217;s tablets.</p>

<p>The Mi Pad 4 is said to come in two variants &#8211; a Wi-Fi only model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage and an LTE model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Both models are priced at ¥1499 (~$230) and ¥199 (~$308) respectively.</p>

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 real design may have been spotted in a couple of leaked images which GSMArena describes as advertising images.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197654" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Mi Pad 4" width="776" height="768" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-2.jpg 776w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-2-300x297.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-2-768x760.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 776px) 100vw, 776px" /></a></p>
<p>The images unmask the Mi Pad 4 front and rear design and there seems to be a change in the design. Noticeably, the front bezels look like what has been trimmed when compared to those of the Mi Pad, Pad 2 and Pad 3. The bezels obviously look thinner on the top and bottom side and the company seems to have removed the front Mi branding. While at the back, the Mi logo is still at the bottom part. Xiaomi still retains the camera position but the sensor looks bigger than those of the Pad 2 and 3. We can also see the 3.5mm audio jack at the upper edge.</p>

<p>The Mi Pad 4 is expected to feature an 8-inch display on top a 16:10 aspect ratio. The device has been confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM on one variant. There is likely a 3GB variant as well. Xiaomi recently teased the presence of facial recognition feature for unlocking the tablet. As far as the camera goes, it is going to be a 13MP rear and 5MP front camera affair while the device will be fuelled by a 6000mAh battery. The pricing of the Pad 4 also leaked recently, suggesting there will be a 4G and Wi-Fi variant.</p>

Through a fresh teaser, Xiaomi has confirmed that the Mi Pad 4 will be arriving with AI driven facial recognition feature.</p>
<p>The below poster reveals that the Mi Pad 4 won’t be coming with a fingerprint reader, but it will be equipped with facial recognition. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/apple-iphone-x">Apple iPhone X</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8-explorer-edition">Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x">OPPO Find X</a> are all equipped with 3D structured light module that allow these devices to support 3D facial recognition. Specifications of the Mi Pad 4 already leaked yesterday but it has now been followed by another leak that reveals its pricing details.</p>
<p>Based on the new leak, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 will come in two variants:</p>
<ol>
<li>A base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and will support only Wi-Fi connectivity. It will be priced at ¥1499 (~$230).</li>
<li>An LTE version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage which will sell for ¥1999 (~$308)</li>

<p>It appears Xiaomi is sticking to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/05/xiaomi-mi-pad-3-large-6600mah-battery-launched-priced-1499-yuan-217/">same launch price of the Mi Pad 3</a>. The new addition is a high-end variant with more RAM, storage, and SIM support,</p>

Earlier today, the company shared the official renders of the color variants of the Redmi 6 Pro smartphone. Also, through the official Weibo account of Mi pad, the company has confirmed on the processor that will be powering the forthcoming Mi Pad 4 tablet.</p>
<p>As it can be seen in the below poster, the Mi Pad 4 will be fueled by Snapdragon 660 chipset. The “smart game acceleration” on the poster suggests that the tablet will be optimized to deliver better gaming experience. The octa-core chipset of SD660 can deliver a clocking speed of 2.2 GHz. However, leaked firmware files of the tablet that had surfaced earlier this year claimed that its SD660 SoC could be under clocked to function at 2.0 GHz.</p>

<p>The launch poster of the Mi Pad 4 had also revealed that the device would be featuring an 8-inch display like the predecessor models. It will be supporting Full HD resolution. The device may sport a slimmer form factor for better grip. It is speculated that the display of the tablet may support an aspect ratio of 18:9.</p>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 will be featuring a single camera of 13-megapixel on its rear. A front-facing camera of 5-megapixel will be also available on the device. The tablet is expected to be powered by 6,000mAh battery that will be carry support for 5V/2A charging. It will be preloaded with Android 8.1 Oreo and it will be one of the first devices to receive the all new MIUI 10 update.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-197009 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/mi-pad-4-launch-poster.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Launch Poster" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/mi-pad-4-launch-poster.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/mi-pad-4-launch-poster-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/mi-pad-4-launch-poster-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Based on the previous reports, the fourth-generation <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> Mi Pad tablet is expected to retain the 7.9-inch LCD display and will offer Full-HD screen resolution with pixel density of 320 PPI. Further, a leaked firmware file suggests 18:9 aspect ratio but it is not yet confirmed.</p>
<p>The upcoming tablet is said to have such a form-factor that it will offer one-hand usage. Earlier, it was reported that the Mi Pad 4 will be powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>&#8216;s Snapdragon 660 processor, clocked at either 2.0GHz or 2.2GHz. However, the memory configurations details such as RAM and ROM for the Mi Pad 4 are not yet known.</p>
<p>While reports indicate that the upcoming Mi Pad tablet will come with support for the microSD card to expand the storage capacity, it is doubtful given that the Mi Pad 3 doesn&#8217;t have a microSD card slot.</p>
<p>On the optics front, the device is expected to come with a 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13855 camera sensor at the back and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/">Samsung</a> S5K5E8 sensor for video calling. The Mi Pad 4 is expected to be running on company&#8217;s own <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui/">MIUI</a> based on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android 8.1 Oreo</a> operating system.</p>
<p>The device is expected to come powered by a 6,000mAh battery. A 3C certification revealed that the device has a charger specification of 5V/2A and a charging power of 10W.</p>

<p>To know for sure what the Mi Pad 4 has to offer and when it will be available for purchase and at what price, we&#8217;ll have to wait for the company to officially launch it on June 25. On the same date, Xiaomi is also set to launch Mi 6 Pro with a notched display.</p>

The company announced the Mi Pad 3 in April last year but now we are in June and all what we know is a couple of likely details and certifications but no launch modalities have been revealed. Well. that may soon change if Xiaomi&#8217;s latest Weibo post on the Mi Pad Weibo handle is anything to go by.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-178864" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="610" height="610" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></a></p>
<p>The Xiaomi Pad Weibo handle has been relatively inactive for a while. The last post before this one was posted in January last year and since then there has been nothing until now. The short Weibo post just hints at a good news coming at 10 am tomorrow. We don&#8217;t know what exactly the news is but it could possibly be the Mi Pad 4 unveiling or the announcement of a launch date for the 4th-gen Mi Pad. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-196966 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4" width="597" height="136" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4.png 597w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-300x68.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></a></p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs-c_11294/?lkid=14635974" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tablet</a> market has not enjoyed a successful run, mainly due to the proliferation of phablet-sized phones. But the Mi Pad is one product that was well received, especially last year&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/05/xiaomi-mi-pad-3-large-6600mah-battery-launched-priced-1499-yuan-217/">Mi Pad 3</a>. The Mi Pad 4 is expected to retain the 7.9-inch LCD display found on its predecessors. A leaked firmware file, however, suggest the tablet may come with an 18:9 aspect ratio but that isn&#8217;t certain. The device is expected to feature a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel. There is also the rumour of a Snapdragon 660 chipset onboard. We won&#8217;t have to wait for too long to get the full details of this product but we expect something with some upgrade over the Mi Pad 3.</p>

The Chinese manufacturer will be holding a launch event for the Mi Max 3 in July. It is speculated that the company may use the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/15/xiaomi-redmi-6-pro-mi-max-3-mi-pad-4-may-launch-together-in-july/">same stage to announce the Redmi 6 Pro as well as Mi Pad 4</a>. A new tablet with model number M1806D9W has been certified by China Compulsory Certification (3C) body in China. Moreover, it has also received approval China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (CMIIT).</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/15/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-with-m1806d9w-model-number-receives-3c-and-cmiit-approved/m1806d9w-3c-certification/" rel="attachment wp-att-196444"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196444" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-3C-Certification.png?x44794" alt="" width="1126" height="233" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-3C-Certification.png 1126w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-3C-Certification-300x62.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-3C-Certification-768x159.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-3C-Certification-1024x212.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1126px) 100vw, 1126px" /></a></p>
<p>The 3C listing of the device clearly mentions that it is a tablet and it carries support for 5V/2A charging. Since the company is rumored to be working on a successor model for Mi Pad 3 from 2017, it is very likely that the M1806D9W device is the upcoming Mi Pad 4. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/26/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-specifications-leaked-features-snapdragon-660-6000mah-battery/">Leaked firmware files</a> of the device that had surfaced few months ago had revealed that it features a 6,000mAh battery which is a bit smaller than the 6,600mAh battery that powers the predecessor model.</p>
<p>The device is also carry support for 5.8GHz/2.4GHz dual-band Wi-Fi. It is likely that like the predecessor model, the Mi Pad 4 will be only arriving in Wi-Fi model.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/15/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-with-m1806d9w-model-number-receives-3c-and-cmiit-approved/m1806d9w-cmiit/" rel="attachment wp-att-196445"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196445" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-CMIIT.png?x44794" alt="" width="968" height="588" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-CMIIT.png 968w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-CMIIT-300x182.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/M1806D9W-CMIIT-768x467.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 968px) 100vw, 968px" /></a></p>

<p>The Mi Pad 4 is expected to feature a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera and a frontal shooter of 5-megapixel. It may be driven by Snapdragon 660 SoC. It is speculated that the octa-core processor will be working at an underclocked speed of 2.0 GHz. There is no information available on the RAM and storage editions of the device.</p>
<p>Like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-3">Mi Pad 3</a>, the successor device will be arriving with an LCD screen. Leaked firmware files had carried references for 18:9 aspect ratio display for Mi Pad 4. A tablet sporting such a tall aspect ratio sounds weird. Hence, it is advisable to wait for further leaks to confirm on its display configuration.</p>

Today, XDA Developers has shared the key specifications of the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> tablet through its leaked firmware files.</p>
<p>According to the publication, there are some evidences in the firmware files that show that Xiaomi will indeed release a tablet in the near future. The firmware files contain references for pad that refers to a tablet PC. Its default screen density is set to a low value of 320ppi which is again suitable for a tablet, and it features a huge 6,000mAh battery which is quite big for a smartphone. Also, the ro.build.characteristics property in the build.prop is set to “tablet”. This property is accessed by apps to confirm whether to show a tablet interface. The same property is also set to “tablet” in the predecessor <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-3">Mi Pad 3</a>, while it is set to default on a smartphone like Mi Max 3.</p>
<p>The publication claims that the Boolean value present in the “is_18x9_ratio_screen” MIUI config is set to true which hints that the tablet may feature an 18:9 aspect ratio. It sounds weird as a tablet with such an elongated screen may look quite absurd. The tablet is expected to feature an LCD panel like the Mi Pad 3.</p>
<p>The firmware files have also revealed that the Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the Mi Pad 4. However, its clocking speed to 2.0 GHz, instead of its usual processing rate of 2.2 GHz. As of this writing, there is no information available on the RAM and storage editions of the Mi Pad 4.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-127037" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 3" width="500" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-3.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-3-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-3-300x300.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></p>

<p>Since the “nosdcard” property is missing from ro.build.characteristics which indicates that the device may feature a microSD card slot. However, it is still doubtful as the Mi Pad 3 does not feature a microSD card slot.</p>
<p>When it comes to photography, the Mi Pad 4 is likely to offers its users with a single rear camera featuring 13-megapixel OmniVision OV13855 sensor with an aperture of 2.0. At the front, it may feature 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 sensor with an aperture of f/2.0. The Mi Pad 4 is unlikely to support 4K video shooting. However, it will be arriving with support for portrait mode. Lastly, the device will be lacking NFC connectivity.</p>
<p>The other specs and pricing of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 is still under the wraps. As of this writing, there is no information available on its launch date.</p>

The month of April is almost running out yet we haven&#8217;t heard anything about a successor to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/04/05/xiaomi-mi-pad-3-large-6600mah-battery-launched-priced-1499-yuan-217/">Mi Pad 3</a>. This is despite the confirmation of Lei Jun, Xiaomi&#8217;s CEO that the next-gen tablet is in the works. It is interesting to note that the Mi Pad 3 and even the Mi Pad 2 have been out of stock for a while now both in China and on several online e-retail platforms. Xiaomi even removed the product details entirely from its website, thus fuelling speculations that it may have concluded plans to rest the product line. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/xiaomi-mipad-4.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-187114" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/xiaomi-mipad-4.png?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi Pad 4" width="592" height="239" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/xiaomi-mipad-4.png 592w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/xiaomi-mipad-4-300x121.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 592px) 100vw, 592px" /></a></p>
<p>However, well-known Chinese tech analyst, Pan Jiutang has hinted that the Mi Pad 3 successor is very well in development and it is coming with lots of expectations. The analyst was responding to an enquiry by a Mi fan who disclosed his anticipation for a new i Pad. By the way, it is not known if Xiaomi would call the next-generation tablet Mi Pad 4 but that may likely be the product&#8217;s name eventually.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-178864" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg?x44794" alt=" Mi Pad 4" width="501" height="501" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Xiaomi-Mi-Pad-4-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 501px) 100vw, 501px" /></a></p>

<p>Nothing is known about the likely features the Mi Pad 4 will come with but we&#8217;d smile at a full-screen display design and a SIM card slot on the tablet. However, in an era the tablet market is gradually withering and considering that it took two years before the Mi Pad 2 got a successor in the Mi Pad 3, we don&#8217;t expect Xiaomi to expend too much energy on the tablet line or to drop this one very soon.</p>

<p>The Mi Pad 3 was made official in April 2017. If the company plans to launch a new tablet around April 2018, the company may add new batch of Mi Pad 3 tablets.</p>
<p>Many leading companies like Microsoft, Apple and Samsung are now selling 2-in-1 laptop-tablet hybrid devices. Hence, Xiaomi is expected to debut Mi Pad 4 as a 2-in-1 device. Rumors are rife that the Mi Pad 4 may support dual booting for Android OS and Windows 10.</p>

<p>None of the Mi Pad tablets from Xiaomi carry support for 4G LTE connectivity. After launching the Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air with Wi-Fi connectivity in the previous year, the company had introduced a 4G LTE model at the end of 2016. Hence, there is a possibility the Mi Pad 4 may carry support for 4G LTE connectivity.</p>
<p>The Mi Pad 3 features a 7.9-inch LCD display that supports 2,048 x 1,536 pixels. It is driven by MediaTek MT8176 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It carries an internal storage capacity of 64 GB.</p>
<p>Unlike the Mi Pad 2 from last year that came in Android and Windows 10 versions, the Mi Pad 3 was launched with MIUI 8 skinned Android OS. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel shooter on its front. It includes a huge 6,600mAh capacity battery.</p>
