As usual, we strived hard to get the new Mi Pad tablet early, and we are one of the first ones to review the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-pad-5-pro/">Mi Pad 5 Pro</a>. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Android tablet market had been plagued with issues such as lack of applications and appropriate use case scenarios. Without significant hardware upgrades and software optimizations, it was still impossible for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android">Android</a> tablets to take the center stage. And, until a few months ago, these tablets were not even close in comparison to Apple&#8217;s iPads.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So how does the Mi Pad 5 Pro fare in this market? Will it finally give rise to a new era of Android Tablets? </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Let’s find out. </span></p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro Tablet Review: A Promising Refresh but dragged down by MIUI" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/d4afM_a_EDM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This is the Mi Pad 5 Pro, which aims to be both productive and entertaining. Indeed, Xiaomi has made great efforts to package this into a product that can be used for work.</span></p>
<h3>Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: Design</h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class=" td-center aligncenter wp-image-406972 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review Back Featured" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Back-Featured.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But, to be honest, it looks too much like an iPad Pro. Whether it’s the design or the User interface of MIUI for Pad, everything looks way too familiar. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406967" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review 18" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-18.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro comes with a metal frame and a CNC metal cutting process at the frame edges, which makes the overall look and feel, a bit more refined.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, at the same time, the edges of the side frame are sharper than all the tablets that we reviewed in 2021, which also causes slight discomfort when holding it. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The rear design of the Mi Pad 5 series continues the design pattern of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-11-global/">Mi 11 series</a>. For example, you’ll find the typical Xiaomi Camera module in the top-left corner and the Xiaomi logo below the cameras. The back cover is made of plastic material with a matte finish, which offers a good feeling when you are holding it. So the new Mi Pad in my hand has a pretty decent built quality. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The lack of a 3.5mm earphone jack may become one of the few drawbacks of the Mi Pad 5 Pro, especially as an entertainment device.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now that we’ve introduced most details of the new Mi Pad’s design, let’s talk about its USB ports.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The USB-C port is another drawback of the new tablet. It’s only compatible with USB-2, which neither supports video output, nor high-speed data transfer. In addition, the compatibility and support for expanded accessories are also limited, which may reduce the possibilities of device expansion.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: Display</h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406982" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review LCD Panelo" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-LCD-Panelo.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Almost all the popular features of a tablet would start with the display. The new Mi Pad’s display features 120Hz high refresh rate with a 2K resolution. It has Dolby Vision certification and supports HDR Content. In the actual test, the Mi Pad 5 Pro successfully recognized and played HDR videos in different apps. Although we have to admire Xiaomi’s efforts on software support for HDR content, the display’s maximum brightness of 485 nit is a bit disappointing. So it’s good for enjoying vivid colors on the Mi Pad Pro, but at the same time, the actual HDR effect would be affected by the brightness limits.  </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Apart from the 2k 120Hz display, the Mi Pad Pro is surprisingly equipped with 8 speakers with Dolby Atmos support. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Thanks to the premium display and stereo audio solution, the Mi Pad 5 Pro no doubt is one of the best devices for mobile entertainment. </span></p>

<h3>Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: Hardware &amp; Performance</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The performance is actually the last thing you’ll need to worry about the tablet. It is powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/snapdragon-870-5g-official-details-leaked-oneplus-oppo-xiaomi-and-more-will-launch-phones-powered-by-it/">Snapdragon 870 chipset</a>, which is also the best chipset for an android tablet so far. From the results of different benchmarks, it nearly achieved the best results that we’ve ever got on any snapdragon 870 model. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Well in actual gaming test, thanks to Xiaomi’s optimization and the tablet’s better cooling capability, the 870 chipset runs at full capacity on the Mi Pad 5 Pro. And you can even play Genshin Impact under the highest graphics at the highest framerate. Not to mention, other games like PUBG Mobile run well. The tablet was able to run the game with very little stress at a stable framerate of up to 90fps. </span></p>

<h3>Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: MIUI for Pad</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For any tablet, the primary goal is to be more than just a large-screen smartphone.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class=" td-center aligncenter wp-image-406971 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review 24" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-24.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In this regard, we’ve seen a few creative solutions on the HUAWEI MatePad and Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro. Especially on the MatePad, the software optimization was quite a surprise. As for the Mi Pad 5 Pro, its software solution is actually very similar to what we saw on the MatePad 11. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Notably, all the official apps have been optimized for a large screen interface. There’s also the optimization of third-party applications, such as displaying a square interface in the horizontal view. And in some apps, you can open dual tasks within the app and either of them can be operated independently, which is the same as the feature called App-multiplier in MatePad’s Harmony OS.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406988" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review Split Screen Multitask" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Split-Screen-Multitask.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Further, to improve work efficiency, the Mi Pad 5 Pro allows users to open 2 apps at once in its split-screen view. Although it looks quite familiar, the MatePad obviously offers more possibility with opening up to 4 windows at once.</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> In addition, under split-screen view, it’s possible for the user to drag pictures or text from one app to the other. But it seems that the feature still got annoying limits and wasn’t available globally. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406989" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review System App Multitask" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-System-App-Multitask.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As far as productivity is concerned, the MIUI for Pad obviously has a lot of features, but more importantly, the official accessories such as the keyboard and stylus play a key role in deciding whether you can actually bring it out for work. On the keyboard side, it only supports contact connection but no Bluetooth wireless connection. So there’s only one way to use the keyboard, which is to put them together under a fixed angle and use the tablet like a laptop. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class=" td-center aligncenter wp-image-406981 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review Keyboard" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-Keyboard.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Unfortunately, Xiaomi’s accessories are very hard to get. The Stylus is out of stock for now. So here we are not able to show you more details about the accessories. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">But don’t worry, we will bring you a hands-on with the accessories in a following comparison video.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The software experience of the new Mi Pad gave me a strong feeling that most of the ideas looks good on paper but haven’t been well optimized yet.</span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406985" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review MIUI Phone Connect" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-MIUI-Phone-Connect.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Even though Xiaomi has made great efforts to optimize MIUI for Pad, it still cannot guarantee a great user experience. The brand still needs to work closely with app developers to convert their apps to work well on tablets. So before you decide to buy a new Mi Pad or any other latest tablet, you have to check whether your most-used apps have been optimized for the Pad’s system. </span></p>

<h3>Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: Battery Life &amp; Charging</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another significant strength of the Mi Pad 5 Pro is its long battery life with 67W fast charging support. Compared to the Mi Pad 4, the 8600mAh battery has increased by 2600mAh capacity. </span></p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-406968" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 Pro Review 19" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Mi-Pad-5-Pro-Review-19.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">In our actual test, the battery performed well, no matter for office use or entertainment use. After video playback for one hour and using it for general office work for another hour, the power only dropped by 28%. After completing the test, there was still around 35% of power left.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As for charging, the 67W fast charging solution is also the fastest charging power in the tablet market. It just takes 73 minutes for the Mi Pad 5 Pro to charge from 0% to 100%. </span></p>
<h3></h3>
<h3>Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Pro Review: Verdict</h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A lot of people were waiting for the update of Mi Pad series, and thought that the new Mi Pad 5 would be a game-changer with great value for money and top performance. Indeed, the Mi Pad 5 is one of those tablets that you can almost buy blindly without a lot of concern.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, like its smartphones, while Xiaomi is a brand that makes great efforts in the hardware department, it still needs to fix the software on its new releases. But the good news is that Xiaomi has almost always kept its promise of fixing such bugs with regular updates.</span></p>

There will be a high-end version powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/snapdragon-870-5g-official-details-leaked-oneplus-oppo-xiaomi-and-more-will-launch-phones-powered-by-it/">Snapdragon 870</a> chipset while a less-powerful model will feature the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-860">Snapdragon 860</a> processor. A new leak has revealed that both versions will be launched separately.</p>
<p>According to the Weibo user that goes by @熊猫很禿然, the Mi Pad 5 with a Snapdragon 870 processor will arrive first. This model will not only have a more powerful processor but also have a 48MP main camera and support for 67W fast wired charging.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-400831" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Mi-Pad-5-specs.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 5 specs" width="615" height="191" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Mi-Pad-5-specs.jpg 615w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Mi-Pad-5-specs-300x93.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 615px) 100vw, 615px" /></p>
<p>The Snapdragon 860 version which will arrive later and cost less will have a 12MP main camera and a much slower 22.5W fast charging technology. We have also heard reports of a version of the tablet with a Snapdragon 768G but much is not known about this variant.</p>
<p>Leaks have revealed that the Mi Pad 5 series will have an 11-inch display with a 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi is also expected to launch a 5G version of the Snapdragon 870-powered model but the lower-end models may stick to Wi-Fi.</p>
<p>Lots of fans are anticipating the new Mi Pad tablet which is not surprising since the last model, the Mi Pad 4 was released back in 2018.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">A new report by </span><a href="https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-premium-android-tablets-nabu-elish-enuma/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">XDA Developers</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> brings more evidence for the existence of new Xiaomi tablets. While decompiling the code of multiple </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-12-5/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MIUI 12.5</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> system apps, the publication has spotted the codenames of these tablets (nabu, eluma, elish) referenced in methods like “isPad”.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">This somewhat confirms that certain first-party </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> applications will have different UI and additional features on these tablets. A new alphas version of the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">MIUI</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> Home app already has a settings page showcasing system navigation on these upcoming tablets.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Further, the report says that ‘enuma’ and ‘elish’ will be variants of one another. Their model numbers end with K81 and K81A respectively. On the other hand, the model number of ‘nabu’ ends with K82. Out of these three, only ‘enuma’ will have support for mobile connectivity (4G LTE/5G).</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lastly, the report also mentions another method called “isSplitTablet”. Though it suggests foldables, the exact meaning of this method is a mystery as of now.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to an earlier report by </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/04/11/xiaomi-to-launch-three-new-tablets-including-one-with-a-snapdragon-860-chip/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">XiaomiUI</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, these forthcoming tablets will flaunt a 120Hz IPS display with a resolution of 800 x 2560 pixels, 410 nits peak brightness, and a 16:10 aspect ratio. Additionally, as per tipster </span><a href="https://twitter.com/kacskrz/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">kacskrz</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, ‘nabu’ will feature a 10.97-inch panel and will be backed by an 8,720mAh battery. This tablet is said to measure 236mm x 148mm in dimension.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">As far as chipsets are concerned, ‘enuma’ and ‘elish’ will be powered by a </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/19/snapdragon-870-5g-official-details-leaked-oneplus-oppo-xiaomi-and-more-will-launch-phones-powered-by-it/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. <p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Finally, despite being tablets, all three will sport a quad-camera setup consisting of a primary sensor, an ultra-wide unit, a macro snapper, and a depth sensor. But ‘enuma’ will have a 48MP main sensor instead of a 12MP primary camera on ‘elish’ and ‘nabu’.</span></p>

However, things are slower with regards to the tablet market which is another area <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> had a grip on in China but that is about to be snatched by players such as <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>. The two manufacturers have multiple new tablets lined up to launch this year. Now, new details have surfaced of Xiaomi&#8217;s upcoming tablets.</p>
<p>Xiaomi took a break from making tablets for a few years but this year it plans to make a comeback with not one but three new tablets. According to a new report, Xiaomi&#8217;s three new tablets will be powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 800 series chipsets.</p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The info comes from the Twitter account @xiaomiui and it revealed in a tweet that there are three models codenamed “Enuma”, “Elish”, and “Nabu” with model numbers K81, K81A, and K82 respectively.</p>

<p>The tablets will have IPS displays with a 2560 x 800 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. These displays will have a brightness level of 410 nits. The source also adds that the tablet codenamed “Enuma” will have a 48MP primary rear camera while the other two will have a 12MP primary rear camera. All three will have four rear cameras that include an ultrawide camera, a macro camera, and a depth camera.</p>
<p>With respect to processors, the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870">Snapdragon 870</a> will power “Enuma” and “Elish” while “Nabu” will have a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-860">Snapdragon 860</a> processor. Based on these specs, it means Nabu should be the cheapest of them all. It is also stated that the tablets will have NFC, quad speakers, wireless charging, and ultra-fast charging.</p>
<p>All three tablets should launch under the Mi Pad line, run <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI">MIUI</a> based on Android out of the box, and should launch first in China before a global release.</p>

<h4><strong>A new Mi Pad tablet for a reviving segment</strong></h4>
<p>It is no surprise that <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> has been missing from the tablet scene for a while considering the fact that the segment had shrunk in the past few years. However, the tablet market recorded growth last year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic which has forced students to resort to online schooling. There is a possibility that this growth is what has prompted Xiaomi to want to revive its tablet line. Nevertheless, I am of the opinion that if Xiaomi is going to release a new tablet, it should not run Android but Chrome OS, at least the variant that will be sold in international markets.</p>
<p>Before diving into the reasons behind this opinion, let us take a brief look at the history of the Mi Pad line.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Mi Pad &#8211; a poor update history</strong></h4>
<p>The first Xiaomi tablet was released in 2014 and it launched as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-7-9/">Mi Pad 7.9</a>. It had a 7.9-inch screen, an <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nvidia">NVIDIA</a> Tegra K1 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB or 64GB of storage, and a 6700mAh battery. The tablet ran <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI">MIUI</a> 7 based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat out of the box. It was updated to MIUI 8 but never had its Android version upgraded.</p>
<p>Xiaomi followed it with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2015/11/23/mi-pad-2-finally-unveiled/">Mi Pad 2</a> in November of 2015. It had a similar screen but swapped the NVIDIA processor for an <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/intel">Intel</a> Atom X5-Z8500. It also had a smaller 6190mAH battery. The RAM and storage capacities were unchanged from that of the first-gen model. It also ran MIUI 7 based on Android 5 Lollipop.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-3/">Mi Pad 3</a> came two years later in 2017 with a 7.9-inch screen as the first two models, thankfully with more RAM at 4GB, and a single 64GB storage option. Xiaomi once again switched chipset brands by going with a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a> MT8176 processor. Unfortunately, it didn&#8217;t have a MicroSD card slot but it came with a bigger 6600mAh battery. This ran MIUI 9 based on Android 7 Nougat out of the box but never got updated to MIUI 10 and neither did it get an Android version upgrade.</p>
<p>The Mi Pad 4 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-plus-tablet/">Mi Pad 4 Plus</a> were announced in June and August of 2018 respectively. The standard version had an 8-inch screen while the plus model ad a 10.1-inch screen. Both came with Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon 660 chipset with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. Xiaomi also brought back the MicroSD card slot and also added <span style="color: #ff0000;"><span style="color: #000000;">4G.</span></span> The smaller one had a 6000mAh battery while the larger model packed an 8620mAh battery. The Mi Pad 4 ran MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo while the Mi Pad 4 Plus ran MIUI 10 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Neither of the two tablets got updated to MIUI 11 nor did they get an Android upgrade.</p>
<p>As you can see, Xiaomi was pretty poor at updating the Mi Pad series. Now that it has a new tablet in development, what are the chances that this tradition won&#8217;t continue?</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Why Chrome OS?</strong></h4>
<p>Why Chrome OS? There are several reasons as to why the next Mi Pad should run Chrome OS but the key advantage is software support. The average Chrome OS device gets software support for no less than five years. Last year, Google revealed that Chrome OS devices will now be supported for even longer as devices such as the Lenovo 10e Chromebook Tablet and Acer Chromebook 712 will receive updates until June 2028. That is 8 years of software support!!!</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-373179" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Chrome-OS.jpg?x10805" alt="Chrome OS" width="876" height="351" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Chrome-OS.jpg 876w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Chrome-OS-300x120.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Chrome-OS-768x308.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Chrome-OS-696x279.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 876px) 100vw, 876px" /></p>
<p>There are other advantages that Chrome OS brings:</p>
<ol>
<li>Support for Android apps &#8211; Chrome OS has native support for Android apps, so there is no complaint of a limited app library.</li>
<li>Regularly updated with new features &#8211; Chrome OS is also regularly updated. Unlike Android that you have to wait nearly a whole year before you get significant changes, that is not the case with Chrome OS. Full OS updates arrive every 6 weeks with new features while minor updates such as security fixes are released every 2- 3 weeks.</li>
<li>Shallow learning curve &#8211; Chrome OS is easy to operate. A lot of keyboard shortcuts from Windows and macOS work the same way in Chrome OS. Also, there is Google Assistant available which you can call up to perform several tasks.</li>
</ol>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Chrome OS is a growing market Xiaomi can profit from</strong></h4>
<p>There are several Chrome OS devices available. That is not surprising considering this year makes it a decade since it was first released. However, the first Chrome OS tablet, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/26/acer-chromebook-tab-10-is-official-worlds-first-chrome-os-tablet/">Acer Chromebook Tab 10</a>, didn&#8217;t launch until 2018.</p>
<p>Now, there are more but still not enough options. Not only that, the few available Chrome OS tablets are sold in very few regions. By launching a Chrome OS tablet, Xiaomi can grab a share of a growing market. It already has its presence in several countries, a lot of which have very few or no Chrome OS tablets. Take India for example, which is a key market for Xiaomi. The Lenovo Ideapad Duet Chromebook is the only Chrome OS tablet sold in the country.</p>
<p>Last year, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/10/global-notebook-pc-shipments-q4-2020/">Chrome OS devices outsold devices running Apple macOS</a>. The growth of Chrome OS is expected to continue as e-learning continues in the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic. Xiaomi definitely doesn&#8217;t want to miss out on having a share of this cake.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>A dual OS strategy</strong></h4>
<p>Fans of the Mi Pad 2 will notice I didn&#8217;t mention an important feature of the Mi pad 2. Actually, I didn&#8217;t forget as this is a better chance to talk about it.</p>
<p>The Mi Pad 2 actually launched with two different operating systems. You could pick up the tablet with either Android pre-installed or with Windows 10. The Windows 10 version launched a few months after and was available in only one storage variant &#8211; 64GB of course, for obvious reasons.</p>
<figure id="attachment_373168" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-373168" style="width: 920px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-373168" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10.jpg?x10805" alt="Mi Pad 2 Windows 10 version" width="920" height="613" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10.jpg 920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Mi-Pad-2-Windows-10-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-373168" class="wp-caption-text">The Mi Pad 2 had a version that ran Windows 10</figcaption></figure>
<p>Xiaomi can go the same route with its next tablet by launching it in Chrome OS and Android versions. This way, folks who want a tablet running the Android-based MIUI are not left out while those who want Chrome OS can also pick it up. Sales of both variants should also help Xiaomi determine if it wants to continue with a dual OS strategy or stick to one.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h4><strong>Expected specifications and price for the upcoming Mi Pad</strong></h4>
<p>We don&#8217;t know how much the new tablet will cost neither do we know its specifications but here are the features and price range we will love to see:</p>
<ul>
<li>10-inch/10-inch+ FHD display (of course with stylus support)</li>
<li>4GB RAM/6GB of RAM</li>
<li>128GB of built-in storage</li>
<li>MediaTek <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/10/mediatek-announces-7nm-dimensity-700-5g-processor-for-affordable-5g-phones/">Dimensity 700</a>/<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/23/mediatek-dimensity-720-launched/">720</a> (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/07/mediatek-dimensity-1000-announced-with-higher-refresh-rate-support/">Dimensity 1000+</a> for a pro model)</li>
<li>Support for expandable storage</li>
<li>8MP rear camera</li>
<li>5MP front-facing camera</li>
<li>Side-mounted fingerprint scanner and or Face Unlock</li>
<li>7000mAh battery capacity</li>
<li>30W/33W fast charging (though we won&#8217;t be surprised if Xiaomi goes with 18W fast charging)</li>
<li>Bluetooth 5.0</li>
<li>USB-C with support for display output</li>
<li>Stereo speakers</li>
<li>3.5mm audio jack</li>
<li>Optional 5G</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Accessories</strong></p>
<p>Chrome OS is a productivity device and this feature is enhanced with the right accessories. Chrome OS tablets like the Lenovo Ideapad Chromebook Duet come with a detachable keyboard in the box and also has support for USI styluses. Xiaomi has a number of companies under its ecosystem that manufactures keyboards and mice, so making an affordable detachable keyboard for the Mi Pad shouldn&#8217;t be difficult.</p>
<figure style="width: 1080px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" src="https://img.youpin.mi-img.com/shopmain/bd9d1dbdcf6420d17daf67b8a9fa5766.gif?w=1080&amp;h=1080" alt="" width="1080" height="1080" /><figcaption class="wp-caption-text">MIIIW, a company under Xiaomi&#8217;s ecological chain makes Bluetooth keyboards that cost as low as ¥149 (~$23)</figcaption></figure>
<p>However, the stylus is a device Xiaomi has no experience with. The good thing about Chrome OS devices with touch displays is that they have support for the USI (Universal Stylus Initiative) standard. This allows for devices that support the standard to be able to use supported active styluses from different brands. So if Xiaomi decides not to manufacture a stylus, buyers can pick one from any third-party manufacturer. You can also read my thoughts on why <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/10/its-time-for-more-phone-manufacturers-to-adopt-the-stylus/">more manufacturers should add support for a stylus</a> on a smartphone.</p>
<h4><strong>Price</strong></h4>
<p>For the above specifications, we can expect the 4GB + 128GB version to sell for $250 with a bundled keyboard and kickstand case while the 6GB + 128GB version can sell for $280. A 5G version with the same configuration as the top-end model can sell for $329. If Xiaomi does decide to make a USI stylus, we expect it to have a price tag of $39.</p>
<p>Of course, these are just our speculations and we&#8217;ll have to wait and see for some concrete information.</p>
<h4><strong>Conclusion</strong></h4>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s poor update history with respect to the Mi Pad line is going to be a major reason for some folks to avoid its next tablet. However, it can win back these customers and gain new ones by launching a Chrome OS tablet that is assured of longer software support than practically all Android devices, phones, and tablets. This is also Xiaomi&#8217;s chance to get into the Chrome OS tablet market, one that has very few players and even fewer products for consumers.</p>
<p>It is important to state that the chance of Xiaomi launching a Chrome OS tablet so soon is really slim, though we won&#8217;t rule out the possibility of it happening. Also, Xiaomi&#8217;s attitude to its mobile devices not running MIUI (its Android One and Android Go phones) shows that it will try to avoid launching a device it can&#8217;t put its customized version of Android on.</p>

Last year, there were even more models. Alongside the standard <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9/">Mi 9</a>, they announced the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-transparent-edition/">Mi 9 Explorer</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-pro-5g/">Mi 9 Pro 5G</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-se/">Mi 9 SE</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-lite/">Mi 9 Lite</a>. However, things will be different this year.</p>
<figure id="attachment_262485" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-262485" style="width: 946px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-262485" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer" width="946" height="946" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer.jpg 946w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/Xiaomi-Mi-9-Explorer-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 946px) 100vw, 946px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-262485" class="wp-caption-text">The Mi 9 Explorer will not be getting a successor</figcaption></figure>
<p><strong>The Explorer comes home</strong></p>
<p>According to Digital Chat Station, there will be no Mi 10 Explorer Edition with a transparent glass back this year. We have no idea why but hope more details will surface in the near future. However, we presume sales might not have been stellar, hence the reason for not launching one this year. At the moment, there is no information about a Mi 10 SE or Mi 10 Lite.</p>
<p><strong>No new Mi Pad in development</strong></p>
<p>The leaker also revealed there is no new Mi Pad tablet in development. The last Xiaomi tablet, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4/">Mi Pad 4</a>, was released in 2018, and to be honest, we are better off without another Xiaomi tablet. The Chinese giant didn&#8217;t release the MIUI 11 update for the Mi Pad 4 and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-4-plus-tablet/">Mi Pad 4 Plus</a>, which means it no longer offers software support for the two tablets. Based on this, we will not advise our readers to pick up any future Xiaomi tablet, if there will be one, unless things change for the better.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-302652" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Mi-10-Explorer.png?x10805" alt="Mi 10 Explorer" width="724" height="268" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Mi-10-Explorer.png 724w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Mi-10-Explorer-300x111.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Mi-10-Explorer-696x258.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 724px) 100vw, 724px" /></p>
<p><strong>Mi 10 series sticking to 1080p displays</strong></p>
<p>Another key info he revealed is that the Mi 10 series will not have a 2K 120Hz display. Xiaomi has always kept the resolution of its flagships at 1080p and it appears it is sticking to that for the upcoming Mi 10 series.</p>
<p>While this may be surprising to some, it will not be to others. Xiaomi probably has a reason for not jumping on the QHD+ train, and if you ask us, we will say it&#8217;s because of the price. A higher-resolution display costs more and will increase the cost of production which will translate to a higher selling price of the device.</p>
<p>Xiaomi is expected to unveil its new flagships in February before MWC 2020. A leaked poster says the launch event will hold on February 11, the same day <a href="http://gizmcohina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> will unveil the Galaxy S20 series.</p>

<p>Today, an image said to be of the rear shells of the upcoming tablet(s) was posted on Weibo. Its hard to tell if the shells belongs to the Android or Windows version as there isn&#8217;t any detail specifying that. However, the image shows us that Xiaomi will be releasing the tablet in multiple colors. The shells are available in gold, silver, rose/red, and a fourth color that appears to be black but with in-laid ridges.</p>

Now, Xiaomi with Hasbro China has together released an interesting new toy, tailor-made for Chinese fans. The new product is a transformer which can instantly transform into a Mi Pad tablet.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-78095" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-transformer-toy.jpg?x10805" alt="xiaomi mi pad transformer toy" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-transformer-toy.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-transformer-toy-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-transformer-toy-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/xiaomi-mi-pad-transformer-toy-600x1067.jpg 600w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></p>
<p>Yes, you heard it right. Xiaomi along with the world&#8217;s top toymaker, Hasbro decided to release this &#8220;Transformers Special Edition&#8221; toy to celebrate the company&#8217;s sixth anniversary on April 6. The toy will enter the crowdfunding stage and once it hits the goal, it will start shipping to backers from May 13.</p>
<p>Of course, the transformed Mi Pad won&#8217;t be a working one (we probably have to wait for a few more years to make something like this work), but still it would be a good buy if you are a big fan of the company. It costs 129 Yuan which comes to around $20 which isn&#8217;t too bad for a fake Mi Pad.</p>
<p>You can check out the pictures from down below.</p>

The image refines the design of MiPad 2 and looks authentic. The specs are still unknown but you can check the specs which were leaked before.</p>

<p>The design looks very similar to Mi Note with the same curved glass and the placements of camera and sensors. It has a MI logo on the upper left and the earpice at center. <strong>It is possible that MiPad 2 may have calling feature. </strong>This seems to be a good step from Xiaomi as having Cellular data will eventually increase the portability. Seeing the looks of it, Xiaomi has made Mi Pad from a childish colorful tablet to a classy and sexy Tab.</p>

<p>It is running MIUI 6 and it could be the first device running MIUI based on lollipop but then you feel like as if you are day dreaming. Anyways, MiPad 2 has a metal frame and a glass back this time. We have also got a picture of it&#8217;s frame which could define the structure better.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>MiPad was the first tablet from Xiaomi and was a succesfull device. MiPad recently launched in India with a Tegra k1 chip and 2GB RAM for Rs. 12,999.</p>

<p>However, as the rumours as well as the picture point out, the Apple of China may also release a bamboo edition of the popular iPad alternative Mi Pad. We think it is a pretty good idea as the customers are given some variety of materials to choose from. What is more, the Xiaomi Mi Pad bamboo edition is said to cost as much as the regular version. That shows that other manufacturers just artificially trying to make a big deal out of charging extra for bamboo shells. How much can the wood cost? Is it really that much more expensive than plastic? Anyway, we will keep you posted as soon as Mi Pad bamboo edition is officially released.</p>

<p>After the great success of Xiaomi Mi3 and Mi4, it was the turn of Xiaomi&#8217;s first tablet, the MiPad to show its calibre. And you won’t believe that the first lot of MiPad consisting of 50,000 units was out of stock in less than 4 minutes. Xiaomi MiPad has got rolling to an excellent start in China and let’s see what will happen when it gets launched globally. One market to put your eyes on is India, as Xiaomi has the ability to break this record in India.</p>
<p>The tablet is an instant hit due to its specifications and the look of an Apple iPad. If we see the prices, then MiPad is quite affordable. In fact it is absolutely worth your money.</p>
<p>&#8211;       16GB model is priced at 1499 Yuan<b> </b>(approximately RM 770).</p>
<p>&#8211;       64GB variant will cost 1699 Yuan (approximately RM 873).</p>
<p>MiPad was announced in May and has seen no delays in its launch. It runs on NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and has a 7.9-inch display with a resolution which is equal to Apple iPad mini. Apart from this, it has got a 2GB RAM and 16 or 64GB storage capacity. The MiPad supports a microSD card which has an expansion capacity up to 128GB. Xiaomi MiPad runs on a 6,700 mAh battery.</p>
<p>The MiPad is soon expected to be launched in Malaysia, Singapore and other countries of the world. However the company has not quoted any specific price and date for the global launch.</p>

<p>The device is just not an addition of Tablet to an Andriod market, but stands up with powerful features. It is infact first to feature the powerful Tegra K1 SoC (Nvidia&#8217;s quad-core processor supported by 2GB of RAM). Based on heavily customized Android OS 4.4.2 KitKat with interface tweaked to seem much like Apple&#8217;s iOS.</p>

<p>The company CEO Lei Jun, has not specify the full launch of product as the &#8216;open testing will undergo in June. So one can expect Mi Pad to hit the market once the testing is over. The company has put as long as four year into Tablet Market entry planning, told CEO Lei Jun to the audience. With the launch of Mi Pad, Xiaomi hope to put pressure on Apple.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>With powerful hardware and attractive OS tweaks Mi Pad will offer powerful gaming on cheap and unmatch-able user interface experience.</p>
