Today, the company has confirmed that the Mi QLED TV 75-inch is launching in India on April 23.

Xiaomi made the Mi QLED TV 75-inch launch announcement via a Twitter post. A microsite page has also gone live on the Xiaomi India website and the teaser images further show that it’s the MI TV Q1 from Europe.

That said, this TV would be the second QLED TV for Xiaomi in India. In December 2020, Xiaomi officially brought its first QLED TV to the country but the variant had a 55-inch display size.

Anyway, Xiaomi isn’t limiting the launch of the Mi QLED TV 75-inch on April 23. We already know that the company is bringing its top-of-the-line premium Mi 11 Ultra flagship, and the Mi 11X series as well. Looks like the event will be one of the biggest ever for Xiaomi India.

He might be referring to the OnePlus QLED Q1 TV that failed to create a spark due to its pricing but it’s our guess. Additionally, the company confirms that the Mi QLED TV for India will be different from the Mi TV 5/5 Pro. He also says that 55-inch is an ideal size for most consumers hinting at the upcoming TV’s size.

Earlier when Xiaomi started teasing the TV launch, many of them including us guessed that it would be a rebrand of Mi TV 5/5 Pro from China. However, an event page that has gone live recently indicates that the TV for India will have new features. This is a no-brainer as the company is trying to bring new products to a country where it has been leading since its inception in 2018.

EDITOR’S PICK: MIUI for TV 3.0 goes live and here are the new key features

In fact, it has lead the Smart TV segment just six months after its debut in 2018, and later with a higher 33% share in 2019 as well. And it continues to do so in 2020. Precisely, Eshwar says that according to the upcoming Q3 2020 report, the company will be the No.1 Smart TV brand. This is in-line with a recent 5 million Smart TV shipment milestone in the country making it a king for 10-consecutive quarters.

Coming back, the report says the new QLED TV will be a spiritual successor to the Mi TV 4 from 2018. However, it will make a giant leap in display technology with the Quantum Dot LED panel. This, along with features HDR10+, 100% color volume(probably NTSC), and Dolby Vision for enhanced picture quality is a definite contender for the rivals.

Talking about the India specific variant, he says the company has delayed the launch of QLED TVs for nine months to fine-tune it for India. This further strengthens our earlier guess that Patchwall 3.4 with a new carousel, user center, Live TVs could be pre-installed. Anyway, Eshwar hints at an aggressive pricing for QLED TV and confirms that Xiaomi will bring more QLED TVs to India in 2021.

The company has since then teased it multiple times with a #QuantumLeapsAhead tag referring the Quantum Dot display technology. Today, it has confirmed that the TV will debut in the country on December 16.

Xiaomi India took to Twitter to confirm the launch event of the new QLED TV in India. As per the Tweet, the new QLED 4K TV will launch on December 16, at 12 PM in India. Xiaomi has shared a teaser video that shows the design. While the video hints that the TV’s design could be similar to Mi TV 5 Pro from China, Xiaomi’s website hints at new features.

Mi Fans, an all new TV experience awaits. #MiQLEDTV4K #QuantumLeapsAhead

Accordingly, an event page on mi.com is already live. The page also shows a TV design in silhouette with slim bezels on three sides. Let’s see if it sports the aluminum build like TV 5 Pro. Anyway, the teaser says that the TV will have Quantum Dot visuals with features like Dolby Vision, HDR10+, and 4K resolution. Now if we recall, the Mi TV 5 Pro has HDR10+ but it lacks the Dolby Vision feature.

That said, the teaser page also mentions features like Dolby Audio and DTS-HD. For the unware, QLED TV stands for Quantum-Dot Light Emitting Diode. Typically, a QLED TV has an LED backlight, a layer of Quantum Dot film, an LCD matrix, and a color filter. Here, the Quantum dot(QD) uses quantum dots( semiconductor nanocrystals) to produce pure monochromatic red, green, and blue light.

Coming back, the QLED TV will also have the best patch wall according to the website. This suggests that the TV will come with at least the Patchwall 3.4 with a new carousel, user center, Live TVs out of the box. Further, the TV will also have HDMI 2.1, eARC (enhanced Audio Return Channel), ALLM(Auto Low Latency Mode), and AV1(AOMedia Video 1), and more. Let’s wait for more teasers in the coming days.
