Xiaomi has announced a major shift in its retail strategy, moving away from aggressive expansion toward a focus on quality and profitability. According to reports, the company may begin closing more than 1,000 underperforming and loss-making Xiaomi Home stores across China in 2026.

Wang Xiaoyan, Senior Vice President of Xiaomi Group and President of Xiaomi China, confirmed the decision in a notice shared with dealer partners. The internal communication states that stores opened before January 1, 2025, will undergo evaluation. Outlets that meet both low efficiency and loss-making criteria will be closed. Xiaomi has committed to absorbing 27.26 million yuan ($3.8 million) in one-time adjustment costs to support the shutdown process.

Xiaomi aims to help dealers cut losses and stabilize operations. According to the company, this move could reduce annual partner losses by up to 72.46 million yuan ($10 million). The strategy reflects a trade-off between short-term financial impact and long-term sustainability.

Dealers who choose to continue operating flagged stores will lose access to company-assigned store managers starting January 1, 2026. Xiaomi will no longer cover staffing responsibilities for these locations, shifting full operational risk to the partners.

Xiaomi also plans to reduce costs in its electric vehicle retail division. The company will streamline its EV store staffing model from the current 1+2+11 structure to a leaner 1+1+5 configuration. The new model will cut labor costs and improve overall efficiency.

The decision marks a significant reallocation of resources. Xiaomi will now prioritize its EV segment and high-margin products, aligning its operations with growth areas. This shift signals the company’s broader intent to build a leaner, more profitable retail network for the future.

Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone giant, is changing its approach in India to prioritize offline sales through retail outlets. The Xiaomi India president revealed that this shift in strategy is to reinvigorate its smartphone sales and catch up with its competitor Samsung.

India has experienced a surge in e-commerce sales through platforms like Amazon and Flipkart, enabling Xiaomi and other smartphone brands to expand their market presence in one of the world’s fastest-growing smartphone markets, which boasts 600 million users. However, despite the online growth, offline retail remains the dominant channel, accounting for the majority of smartphone sales in the country.

Currently, Xiaomi already has a strong presence in 18,000 offline stores across India. Now, the company plans to further increase its offline footprint to capitalize on the untapped potential of retail. Muralikrishnan B., Xiaomi’s India head, acknowledged the company’s relatively lower market position in the offline segment, noting that competitors have been executing their strategies well and enjoying a larger market share.

To regain its market share, Xiaomi intends to collaborate with phone vendors and offer a wider range of products such as Xiaomi TVs and security cameras, leveraging the less intense competition in these areas. Expanding beyond its existing 18,000 outlets, Xiaomi aims to extend its store network in India. Muralikrishnan also acknowledged the issue of stores prominently displaying rival brands alongside Xiaomi products, which the company plans to address to strengthen its marketing efforts.

Recent data from Counterpoint Research reveals that Xiaomi has slipped behind Samsung in terms of market share in India, with Samsung currently holding a 20% share compared to Xiaomi’s 16%. To enhance its offline presence, Xiaomi plans to hire more store promoters who engage and pitch Xiaomi phones to buyers inside retail outlets. The company aims to triple the number of promoters to 12,000 by the end of the following year, compared to early 2023 levels.

By shifting its focus towards offline sales and expanding its retail network, Xiaomi aims to revive its smartphone sales in India and narrow the gap with Samsung. Recognizing the significance of physical stores in the Indian market, Xiaomi aims to capture the attention of consumers through brick-and-mortar channels and strengthen its competitive position.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi officially announced that it would be conducting an investigation for applications in its Mi Store that have violated its policies regarding the collection of user data.

The Chinese tech giant shares notice of investigation for apps that have been illegally gathering and using personal information while also infringing on user rights and interests. For those unaware, there has been an emerging call from users regarding the frequent harassment and other issues regarding their personal information that has been infringed on Xiaomi’s application store, especially in China. The Mi Store has a large user base all across the globe, with its home market alone accounting for 90 million users.

So, it arrives as no surprise that certain apps target users’ data to get a more competitive edge over their rivals in the current market. In the past, user privacy and data collection policies have been scrutinized. Now, it seems that Xiaomi aims to weed out apps that have been harmful to its Mi Store users. Notably, the Chinese government is also working on reforming user data collection policies in the country, with the nation’s cyberspace regulator even ordering companies in China to delist Didi from their app stores. This was apparently due to Didi Global Inc illegally collecting users’ personal data.

In other words, Xiaomi is also joining in the efforts of its home country and is ordering app developers to reform data collection methods or face removal from its Mi Store. In the note, the brand said that it has received large amounts of feedback that have criticized apps on its platforms for their predatory data gathering practices. So, the company is springing into action, in compliance with the latest regulations from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

For the avoidance of doubt, these stats don’t include Mi Stores in India and China. In September last year, Xiaomi announced the opening of a record 3000th Mi Store in India alone. While in China, it announced in April this year, that 5000 Mi Home stores have been opened so far in its home country.

The opening of 1000 Xiaomi Stores in the global market is a milestone that is a reflection of the brand’s global expansion strategy. This feat took the company five years to achieve, as it opened the first store in Singapore in 2016. A good number of these new stores are located in Western and Central Europe where Xiaomi is pushing to attract Huawei’s customers since the Chinese tech leader has been crippled by the US ban and to expand the brand to new frontiers. The quality of its products as well as their affordability have played well in Xiaomi’s favor.

Xiaomi is also holding a 1000 Xiaomi Store event both offline and online to mark the momentous occasion. The event will see fans of the brand receive exclusive gifts and get discounts on several products. The Chinese brand will kick off the celebrations with a promotional event online as well as offline sales on Xiaomi Stores in the different regions that make up its global market. Xiaomi has just opened its first official brick and mortar store in Saudi Arabia. The company’s new Mi Store is situated in the Electron Commercial Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and was officially opened earlier this month.

This marks the opening of the first official physical store from the Chinese tech giant in the region, which will sell Mi branded products like smartphones to various other consumer electronics products and related accessories a well. This includes products like smartwatches, and even smart home appliances like vacuum cleaners and other products from its vast ecosystem.

These products will also range from high end, mid range, to entry level products for Saudi customers. This marks a major step for the smartphone maker as it was recently ranked among the top three smartphone brands in the country in the first quarter of this year by Canalys, a market analysis based firm. Xiaomi held a market share of 12 percent in the region in Q1 2021.

The company’s Saudi state manager Wang Xingang added that “With the development of China’s scientific and technological strength, the smart electronic products, including smartphones, are deeply loved by consumers in the Middle East.” The official also stated his optimism regarding the brand’s performance in the Saudi market, and even expressing his hope for additional Mi stores to open in the country in the near future to introduce the “China smart manufacturing” to the world.

A recent national survey by UNOMER has revealed that Xiaomi’s retail outlets for its products in India had the most significant appeal among Indian consumers. The study showed that the Mi Home store was the first choice for an exciting experience overall across several customer satisfaction parameters captured in the survey questionnaire.

Respondents were asked to rate their satisfaction on the various measurement criteria, and the percentages were computed for each parameter across the exclusive smartphone retail stores in India.

The Unomer study titled: “Smartphone Retail CSAT Benchmarking Research Report” aims to measure customer satisfaction across a broad spectrum of India’s leading smartphone exclusive retailers, including Xiaomi, Samsung, Oppo, Apple, and several others. Some of the customer satisfaction parameters captured in the study were the physical layout, purchase financing options available, the fluidity of the checkout system, and staff knowledge, among others.

The Mi Home stores had an average rating of about 62% in staff knowledge criteria, billing/ checkout process, and financing options, which were the highest among the surveyed exclusive retail stores. Xiaomi has seen remarkable progress since it first established its Mi Home stores in India, and it now has 75 of such stores spread across 19 cities across the subcontinent.

In his response to the UNOMER report, an executive of Xiaomi India, Sunil Baby expressed joy at the report, putting the Mi Home stores as the best premium exclusive smartphone store in India. He said the Mi brand would continue to pursue excellence in all its ramifications and continue to provide satisfaction to its teeming customers across India. Baby stressed that the Mi Home stores have a unique architectural design and were constructed using eco-friendly materials, which combine with the excellent staff and products to give a unique experience for its teeming Indian customers.

Xiaomi has assured that it will continue to strive to maintain and even exceed expectations in the high standards it has set for itself.

Xiaomi is keeping true to its plans to expand further in Europe. The Chinese tech giant has reportedly opened its largest Mi Store in Central and Eastern Europe. The Mi Store is located in Warsaw, the capital of Poland. The grand opening of the store was carried out while observing COVID-19 protocols such as the use of facemasks and maintaining physical distancing.

Xiaomi’s International president Shou Zi Chew who shared the news on Twitter also disclosed that the store is the brand’s first store equipped with a service center inside. Thus, you do not only get the chance to get your favorite Mi ecosystem products, but you can also as well drop by to get your faulty Mi product repaired. This will particularly appeal more to new users who may be concerned about after-sales services and availability of parts when they are considering including a Xiaomi product on their shopping list.

Tech giant Xiaomi has opened its first Mi Store in the Arctic Circle. The company officially announced this over the weekend. The store is located in the Russian city of Murmansk which is located within the Arctic Circle.

The announcement is symbolic in that it is the first and only Mi store in the northernmost point of the world. Speaking concerning the store’s opening, Yu Man, Head of Xiaomi Russia and CIS, stated: “We are so excited and thankful to our partner for an amazing opportunity to make this dramatic northbound move. Xiaomi’s chain of offline stores in Russia now covers 10 timezones, and my heart fills with happiness when I see more and more Mi Fans and consumers get closer to innovations we provide.”

The new Mi Store is located within the Murmansk Malland reports show that it has rapidly become one of the most loved shopping venues among local residents. It is about 80 square-meters in size, big enough to accommodate a wide range of Xiaomi-branded and ecosystem products. The products range from smartphones to ecosystem smart hardware.

Although located in the Arctic Circle, Murmansk’s proximity to the Barents Sea and the warm air masses delivered by the ocean currents help create a mild climate and shape up the world’s northernmost seaport. The population of Murmansk is approximately 230,000 as of 2020.

The new store joins a range of 151 official stores in Russia where Xiaomi products are sold. Xiaomi has closed its first and only Mi Store in the United Kingdom but don’t panic, it is not related to the Coronavirus epidemic. The company decided to shut the doors of the store located in the Westfield shopping center in Sheperd’s Bush, London, on March 5, 2020.

Already, the Westfield London website has been updated with a disclaimer that the UK Mi Store is no longer open for trading. Further, the Twitter account for the store is now offline.

The UK Mi Store first opened shop in November 2018 and had in stock several Xiaomi products ranging from smartphones, smart bands, smart home gadgets, electric scooters, umbrellas etc. However, the store soon became notorious for not having most of the products in stock. Apart from that, the prices of the products in stock were markedly higher than what is obtainable online. Thus, the closure may be tied to low patronage and a desire to cut cost and focus on more vibrant markets in Europe 

A spokesperson for the Chinese company did release a statement to Android Authority that the closure is an adjustment to its local retail strategy due to its fast growing business in Western Europe. The company also enjoined fans in the UK to purchase their favourite Xiaomi products through its official website mi.com/uk and other official channels that would be announced during future product launch events. Xiaomi’s products are also available via Amazon in the UK, US, Europe and India.

After launching its Mi Store in Romania, China-based Xiaomi is now expanding its European fleet of Mi Stores and is all set to open its first such store in Portugal. The company has now announced its plan to open its first official Mi Store in the Iberian country on June 1st.

Currently, the exact location of the upcoming Mi Store is not yet known but it’s likely that it’s going to be based in the capital city of Lisbon. Xiaomi Portugal mentioned that more details will be revealed next week alongside an even bigger surprise.

Xiaomi has been actively focusing on expanding its European presence and thanks to its efforts, the company is now among the top four manufacturers in Western Europe. Despite slow growth in its home market of China, Xiaomi is looking strong in Europe and plans to reach 150 stores by the end of this year.

The company revealed 115 percent growth in shipment of smartphones in the European region. It reported net profit growth by 22.4 percent year-over-year compared to 2.1 billion yuan (approximately $300 million). Its total revenue climbed 27.2 percent to 43.8 billion yuan (approximately $6.33 billion).

The report says Huawei plans to grow its stores from 150 to 200. The Chinese market leader is said to be scouting for partners and is already in talks with Inventive Retail Group. Huawei presently has six stores in Russia, four located in Moscow and one each in Ufa and Novosibirsk. On the other hand, Xiaomi has 30 Mi stores spread across different cities and also 29 “islands” in shopping centres. Xiaomi has stores in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Vladivostok, Samara, Tomsk, Khabarovsk and Nizhny Novgorod.

According to the CEO of Xiaomi India, Manu Jain, a new scam has been detected in which a few retailers have been hoodwinked into procuring fake Xiaomi India franchise. The CEO shared a couple of documents with his signature appended on them but says they are all fake documents and that his signatures were forged. He didn’t indicate if any of such franchise running on the fake approval as been identified and shut down. The post wasn’t also explicit on ways fans can detect fake Mi Stores if there is any in India. However, Mr Jain disclosed that a case has been filed with India’s cybercrime department and is currently under investigation by the police.

Even though currently the weather is not the most propitious in the city, a consistent amount of people has been lining in front of the store hours before the opening, waiting for having the chance to touch some of the best Xiaomi products in the biggest European Mi Store. In case you do not know, this is the second Mi Store opened in Paris. The Mi Store opened in Paris will sell smartphones but also many other hi-tech products from the company. There will be headphones, Yi cameras, and smart home products as well. Xiaomi also launched some interesting promotions on its French online store for everyone who can not be in Paris in this period.

The promotions only regard the smartphone section: the phablet Mi Max 3 is available for €220 with a discount of €50, Pocophone F1 can be purchased for just €320 with a €40 discount and even the flagship Xiaomi Mi 8 is discounted at €430 with €50 in Mi vouchers as a gift for the purchase. We can see how the store looks like thanks to some photo published on Twitter. In the photos, you can clearly notice the presence of several phones in the store, such as the affordable flagship Xiaomi Pocophone F1, the Redmi Note 6 Pro mid-ranger and Xiaomi Mi 8, as well as other products such as the Mi Laser Projector and headphones.

Xiaomi recently announced a rather bizarre Guinness World Record which it clinched by creating the biggest logo using light mosaic. That happened to be the company’s first Guinness record and it was no surprise the company chose to amplify the feat despite having no relationship whatsoever with is core smartphone business. The company has just clinched another Guinness World Record, this time around for simultaneously opening 500 Mi stores in India.

The Chinese giant already has a number of Mi Stores in India including the largest Mi Store at Bangalore but this time around, it chose to open 500 new stores all at once. The new brick and mortar stores are located in various cities in India and the record-setting grand opening took place on October 29 but the claim has to be cleared by GWR before announcing the achievement.

The record Mi Stores were not actually set up just for the Guinness World Record but are part of Xiaomi’s plans to expand rapidly in India. Xiaomi called the plan a “New Retail” model for India where it aims to provide “flagship store experience” to customers in rural areas. The Chinese firm may smash its own record if it attains its goals for 2019 which is to open 5,000 new brick-and-mortar stores and to employ over 15,000 people across the whole country.

Last week, Xiaomi entered the UK market with the launch of select products, including Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Mi 8 Lite, Redmi 6A entry-level smartphone, Mi Band 3 fitness tracker, and the Mi electric scooter.

Now, the company has also opened its first brick-and-mortar Mi Store in Westfield London, making it the company’s first official Mi Store in the UK.

A day before the company officially announced its expansion to the UK market, Xiaomi had started selling its Pocophone F1 in the UK through Amazon. Now, the smartphone is available for purchase through the Mi Store as well.

Along with the Pocophone F1, the company is also selling the Redmi Note 6 Pro, which is already available in Thailand and Indonesia and is slated to launch in India on 22nd November. In the UK, the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model of the Pocophone F1 is priced at £329 (approximately $422) while the 6GB RAM + 128GB internal storage model costs £349, which roughly converts to $448.

At its Mi Store, the company is also selling two Android One smartphones — Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. In the Redmi series, the Chinese company has five phones available in the UK — Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A, Redmi Note 5, and Redmi S2.

It has also launched three audio products — Mi In-ear Headphones Pro 2, Mi Sports Bluetooth Earphones, and Mi Headphones Comfort. It is also selling three models of its power banks, Mi Band 3 along with its different colored straps, and a motion-activated smart night light.

Xiaomi is learning in a rancorous manner that expansion comes with a price and one of such price is internal wrangling among staffs as the personnel size increases. On the stock market end, the company’s stock has met some murky waters as it was affected by the global stock market adjustment, leading to the company’s market value fell below 300 billion HK dollars. This article isn’t about the company’s stock, though, but about a reported wrangling inside Xiaomi’s Nanjing flagship store in China.

This came out in the open following a post by an aggrieved staff who has access to the flagship store’s official Weibo account. In his rant, the staff stated among other things as translated from Chinese; “From today, there will be no Nanjing flagship Mi Store any longer. You [probably referring to Mi Store management] are trampling on the bodies our brothers who work for their meagre incomes. Xiaomi is no longer the coolest company in my mind,”. The post also called out the company’s top management such as founder Lei Jun and company president Lin Bin. The controversial post has since been taken down.

According to local media, Xiaomi released a rejoined stating; “We found that the microblog is posted by the employee who operates our Weibo account to vent personal resentment. But the reason behind this incident is still under investigation.” We don’t expect to hear anything about the internal investigation anyway. We hope this gets sorted out and the company is able to put staff welfare at the forefront.

In a bid to expand the offline presence, Xiaomi has opened up another Mi Home store in Wuhan China. It is the largest Mi Home store that is present in China. It features smart home demo zone of its wide range technology products. Xiaomi’s senior vice president Wang Xiang made a formal announcement about it via his official twitter handle. He even shared some pictures of the newly opened largest Mi Home store in Wuhan.

A couple of months ago, Xiaomi has accomplished its plan to open 100 Mi Home stores across China. Now, they have initiated a new program to bring 1000 Mi stores in China by the year 2020. As per Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun, the company is slated to open over 200 Mi retail stores by the end of this year. At present, there are stores all over in major cities of China like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Zhuzhai, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Wuxi, Dongguan, Jinan, Dalian, Xiamen, Qingdao, Shenyang, and others.

The Mi stores allow customers to experience the Xioami products in the native environments. It gives you an overall high-end experience of the Xiaomi products such as Speakers, Home Cleaning products, mobile devices, etc. They offer a rich portfolio and allow customers to experience products in stores. Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, which recently got listed on Hong Kong stock exchange, is reportedly looking to expand its operations to Turkey with Mi Store.

A couple of pictures of a store canvas with Xiaomi logo and “Coming Soon” text have surfaced online, suggesting that the company is gearing up to launch its Mi Store in Turkey. However, this could also be a third-party store or an authorised reseller that will sell Xiaomi devices.

According to the company officials, Xiaomi is planning to enter Turkey and if everything works out fine, it aims to estalbish online presence in the first quarter of 2019 and a physical store in the third quarter of 2019.

Recently, expanding its presence in Europe, the Chinese technology giant opened its first authorized store in Paris. Apart from Paris, the company is officially operating in Spain and Italy. The company is also present in Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore.

Xiaomi, which has strong presence in its home country as well as in India, where the company is currently leading in terms of market share, is also looking to start selling its smartphones in the United States.

Xiaomi is focused on its expansion in Europe this year. A few weeks ago, we reported it opened a store in the Czech Republic and last week it was reported it had partnered with Three in the UK. Today, it has officially announced its entry into two new European markets.

The Chinese manufacturer has revealed via a Twitter post that it will arrive in France and Italy on the 22nd and 24th of May respectively. Xiaomi already sells its products in Italy but only online. On May 24, it will open its first Mi Store in the country.

Other European countries Xiaomi is present in are Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Poland. Its partnership with Three will also add the UK, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, and Sweden.

Exactly three months have passed since Xiaomi confirmed its arrival in Italy with its first Mi Home Store which will be located in Milan. The company started hiring people back in January by opening five job positions for a Store Manager and four sales clerks. Now, our sources familiar with the company have confirmed that the store will be officially opened on May 26, which is less than a month away.

According to the job listing, the Store Manager in the first Italian Mi Home Store will have at least five years of experience in structured tech companies and a deep knowledge of the whole Xiaomi ecosystem and the main technological trends. But the company did not announce which product will be sold in the store. So, we do not know whether it will be possible to only purchase Xiaomi phones or also other hi-tech gadgets sold in Asia such as Mi Bands, drones, accessories and so on.

The Mi Store in Italy is not the first Xiaomi Store which is going to be opened in Europe in May. Xiaomi, the China-based smartphone manufacturer has been shifting its focus towards offline channels through Mi Stores after mastering the online-only sales model. In line with its strategy, the company has announced that it is opening 61 new Mi Stores across various cities in China.

At the beginning of 2017, Xiaomi had said that it planned to open 200 new Mi Stores across China in a bid to boost its offline sales. The Chinese tech giant was able to achieve that goal, which resulted in the jump in its sales and the company being ranked amongst the top 5 smartphone makers globally for last year.

While the number of Mi Stores are increasing, the company is still struggling to meet the demands for its products. The company has already said that it is planning to open 2,000 such stores in three years. Half of the Mi Stores were planned to be located overseas and that mission is on course.

Apart from the Mi Stores in China and India — the company’s biggest markets, it recently opened its first Mi Stores in the Philippines. There are also Mi Stores in Russia, Spain, and Italy. In India, Xiaomi recently opened its first Mi Home Experience Store in Chennai, located at Phoenix Market City Mall in Velachery. This marks the company’s 25th Mi Home store in the country.

The company is also planning to open at least one Mi Home Experience Store in the major cities of India, and after Chennai, the next two planned cities are Delhi and Mumbai.  The China-based company says that it is on track to open its 100th store in India by the end of this year.

Xiaomi’s offline strategy has been proved fruitful for the company. After a struggling year in terms of sales, the company decided to double-down on the expansion of its offline stores to reach a wider number of people. Combining its online and offline strategy, the company witnessed the result it was hoping for. Since the last couple of quarters, Xiaomi has been ranked as the number 1 smartphone brand in India.

Although the Mi Store Philippines isn’t operated directly by XIaomi, the store sells only Xiaomi branded products. There are indications that a second Mi Store may be opened soon in the Philippines. The expansion of Xiaomi is becoming aggressive: the company is going to open the first Mi Store in my country: Italy, and the company has started hiring people to work inside it. The store will be opened in Milan, North Italy. The company has officially confirmed its arrival in Italy through a post on its official Facebook page with an image attached. In the image, we can read “Ciao Italia” that means “Hi Italy”. The Chinese giant is currently searching a Store Manager and four sales clerks.

The company wants a Store Manager with at least five years of experience in structured tech companies and sales clerks with at least two years of experience. An in-depth knowledge of Xiaomi’s ecosystem is needed too, as well as a knowledge of the main technology trends. The candidates must be able to entertain interpersonal relationships with international customers. So, just knowing the Italian language will not be enough: English is required too. Problem-solving and dedication to work are among the other qualities required by Xiaomi. Unfortunately, the date in which the Mi Store will be opened in Milan is still unknown.

We do not even know which products will be sold in this physical store, even though there is a high chance that we will see Mi and Redmi phones. We may learn more about it at MWC 2018, seeing that the company will attend the Mobile World Congress this year. Italy is not the first European country in which Xiaomi has arrived: the Chinese giant has already opened stores in Greece and Spain. Further, it is actually possible to purchase some Xiaomi phones in Italy through Amazon (Mi A1 and Mi Max 2 are among these devices), even though prices are way higher than the ones in China.

Today, Xiaomi officially confirmed its collaboration with Smartbox, a Noida-based startup from India that has created automated parcel delivery terminals across the country. Smartbox will soon appear as a new delivery option on Mi.com as well as Mi Store app v2.10.1 or higher. By selecting the new delivery option, customers can receive orders at the nearest digital locker.

The newly introduced Smartbox delivery option is a safe and convenient way to receive ordered products from Smartbox’s digital lockers from the nearest locations. Delhivery, Blue Dart, FedEx, Ecom Express and Xpress Bees are the courier partners of Smartbox.

Here are how users can place orders through Smartbox:

• Select a product on Mi.com or Mi Store app and then add it to cart.
• Add the delivery address and select Smartbox as the deliver option.
• The Smartbox dialogue box will prompt the user to type in the closest Smartbox terminal.
• Once the order is placed, Mi.com will send a confirmation and Smartbox will also send a message with OTP to the customer.
• Once the ordered item arrives at the Smartbox delivery kiosk, the customer will be notified through a message.
• If the customer has already paid for the order, he will have to provide the received OTP at the Smartbox terminal and collect the parcel
• For orders with COD (Cash on Delivery), users can make the payment through cash, debit/credit card, PayTM or UPI payment options at the Smartbox terminal and receive the parcel.

One should be aware of the fact that once the parcel reaches Smartbox terminal, it will remain there for 72 hours. If the parcel is not collected in 72 hours, it will return to Xiaomi. As of this writing, the Smartbox delivery option is only available in Delhi NCR region. In the near future, the service will be also made available in other regions of the country.

In Q317, Xiaomi became the number one smartphone brand in India by equaling its market share with Samsung. The company has managed to salvage sizable market share in India mainly because of its strategy of selling its devices with aggressive pricing online.

The Chinese firm is now working on expanding its offline business in the country. It aims to open 100 Mi Home stores and numerous partner stores by mid-2019. Now, Xiaomi has officially revealed that its Mi app store has achieved more than 50 billion downloads! This is a tremendous achievement considering that the app store was launched just four years back, in May 2012.

The Mi App store hit the 2.5 billion download mark back in 2014 and soon by December 2015, the total downloads exceeded 35 billion! And by the end of Q1 2016, the app store had hit the 40 billion mark. So, it was only a matter of time till the total downloads hit the 50 billion figure. But this shows that the Mi app store is growing very fast recently. Getting over 10 billion downloads in less than a quarter is nothing short of special.
