Microsoft Kills Off Cortana App in Windows 11

Actually, this isn’t a new information. Back in June, Microsoft officially announced that it would stop supporting Cortana. However, users could still access the virtual assistant through the app if they wanted to. Now, the company has stopped supporting the Cortana app in Windows 11. The app is getting an update to tell users that it will stop working later this month

Cortana was not very popular with users, and it was never able to compete with other digital assistants like Siri, Amazon Alexa, and Google Assistant. Microsoft is replacing Cortana with other AI-powered features in Windows 11, such as Windows Copilot. Windows Copilot is still under development, but it has the potential to be a much more useful and powerful AI assistant than Cortana ever was.

This new AI assistant is currently in preview for Windows 11 Dev Channel Insiders. Copilot is designed to provide real-time assistance, helping users with tasks like writing code, composing emails, and creating presentations. Once activated, Windows Copilot will appear as a panel on the side of the screen. Users can then give commands to the assistant, such as “type ‘hello world’” or “open Microsoft Edge.” The assistant will then take care of the rest, automatically typing or opening the requested item. However, time will tell how successful it will be.
