Microsoft has just unveiled its Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera which boasts of some highly impressive features and capabilities. The Microsoft Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera is not just an everyday webcam and it does not come cheap – it is priced at $800. Microsoft says the Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera is meant to be the best professional-grade AI-powered camera in the market.

The Surface Hub 2 is a 12MP camera with up to 136 degrees field view. It is capable of focusing both new and far objects up to 8 meters. Interestingly, the camera can focus on multiple areas at the same time and can automatically identify a speaker in a room. The Microsoft Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera offers up to 1 teraflop of computing power and uses the same processor as the one in the Surface Pro 6.

The AI-rich Surface Hub 2 can compensate for the tilt, wide-angle corrections, and distortions. It can also detect users in different postures, lighting conditions, and room types. The Surface Hub 2 is meant for capturing activity in a conference room with multiple persons present, unlike the common webcam that picks mainly a single person. It is meant to focus on a group of persons in a room with the same high-quality focus.

The Microsoft Surface Hub 2 Smart Camera has already gone on sale at $799.99 until May 31 when it will be bundled with the 85-inch Surface Hub 2S. The Surface Hub 2S comes with extended Microsoft features like Windows 11, Teams, Microsoft 365, and others. There are other features that Microsoft is working to incorporate like virtually presenting a PowerPoint.
