A new Honor smartphone, carrying the model number WDY-AN00, has recently appeared on the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) official website. While certificate photos have not been disclosed, some tech bloggers speculate that this could be the Honor Play 40.

Alleged Honor Play 40 specifications:

According to the specifications provided by MIIT, the model features an octa-core processor with a 2.2GHz clock speed and does not support memory card expansion. It comes with a 5100mAh battery and supports 10W charging. The device is manufactured by Longqi and Guanghong Technology.

Additionally, the phone is expected to sport a 6.56-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1612×720 pixels, a 13MP + 2MP dual rear camera setup, and a 5MP front-facing camera. A side-mounted fingerprint scanner is included for unlocking the device. The phone measures 8.35mm in thickness, weighs approximately 188g, and offers storage options of 4/6/8/12GB RAM and 64/128/256GB internal storage.

The device comes with an HW-050200C02 charger, which has not been used for phones in quite some time and has been removed from both Honor and Huawei stores. Most Honor smartphones support fast charging above 10W, and devices with this type of charging have been scarce since the Honor 9X series.

The most recent Honor phone supporting 10W charging is the Honor Play 30 (VNE-AN00), featuring a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 Plus chipset, a 6.5-inch 1600×720 display, and a 5000mAh battery.

Although the detailed specifications and photos of the Honor 90 series have not surfaced yet, the MIIT website has listed the model numbers of the devices as REA-AN00 for the Honor 90 and REP-AN00 for the Honor 90 Pro. Rumors indicate that the Honor 90 lineup could be announced in May and be made available for purchase in time for China’s 618 online shopping festival.

According to Digital Chat Station, a reliable tipster, the Honor 90 Pro will retain some of the core specifications of its predecessor, the Honor 80 Pro, including the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. The tipster also claims that the Honor 90 Pro will feature a 1.5K resolution and a high-frequency dimming curved screen. Since Honor 80 Pro comes with a 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED display it is expected the 90 Pro will also retain the same. The smartphone is also expected to come with two front-facing cameras in a dual cutout design.

It’s worth noting that Honor will still use the Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor in the Honor 90 series, which is theoretically capable of outputting 200MP images. This is a significant improvement over the Honor 80 Pro, which uses a 160MP main camera. It remains to be seen how the Honor 90 series will fare against other flagship smartphones in the market. However, according to DCS, the smartphone is going to be less powerful than OPPO Reno 10 Pro+.

Ever since the release of the Honor 6, Huawei has been planning to release different editions of their new phone. The other day, a product with the model number “Huawei H60-L02” received certification from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s website. Not only did Huawei upgrade its camera (up to 8mp), it also has 4GB RAM, leading to speculation that a high-end edition of the Honor 6 may soon hit the market.

According to the information listed in the MIIT website, the H60-L02’s appearance is completely the same as the Honor 6’s, except that the former has an 8mp front-facing camera and its RAM was increased to a whopping 4GB, although the latter could be because the entry is still being worked on. This phone has already gone through the Antutu benchmark test. According to the test results, this phone has 3GB RAM and 16GB internal memory space. It’s not yet clear whether the inclusion of the 1.7GHz Kirin 920 is the reason why it was upgraded to 4GB.
