The MIUI 12.5 software update is being pushed to a limited number of devices in India and monitored for a seamless update and improved performance of the X3 Pro. If this first stage of the rollout goes smoothly, it will be expanded to cover all Poco X3 Pro units already sold in the subcontinent.

The MIUI update is covered by an 830MB download that encompasses all the essential aspects of the user interface for all-round improved performance. The June 2021 current security patches are available with the download, and this will bring the Poco X3 Pro up to speed on that aspect. The operational aspects of the latest update will mean that we could see a faster operation of the device across several fronts. The update will also mean that there will be custom adjustments on the device, a more responsive effect of hand gestures, and greater rendering power. Poco says on the whole that the latest MIUI 12.5 update will bring an overall lighter and faster interface, which will also be durable.

Some observed bugs have also been fixed with the latest update, thus enhancing notifications and notification badges. A gesture shortcut has been added to the Notes app on the Poco X3 Pro, with the latest MIUI 12.5 update. The Notes app seems to have undergone a complete revamp, with dynamic layouts, mind maps with complex structures, and more significant sketching and doodling.

It is not clear at this time when a full rollout will commence, but we expect the assessment of the update on the limited units will be rapid so that all users of the Poco X3 Pro in India will subsequently enjoy better performances of their devices.

Xiaomi rolled out the MIUI 12 update for the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S and MIX 3 back in August 2020. The devices, which didn’t make the cut in the Android 11 eligible devices list, are said to get the MIUI 12.5 update as per the Xiaomi executive Zhang Guoquan’s post on Weibo.

He says that the MIX 2S has Snapdragon 845 chipset and the engineers have worked on the MIUI 12.5 on its update together with MIX 3. Speaking of which, the MIX 3, which also has Snapdragon 845 chipset, launched with MIUI 10 while the MIX 2S came with MIUI 9 out of the box.

Hence, the MIUI 12.5 will be the fourth MIUI update for the MIX 2S while the MIX 3 will get it as a third major update. It is appreciable of Xiaomi to support older flagships despite them going past the software support period.

Moving on, Zhang said that along with the MIX devices, the Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 8 Explorer Edition will also get the MIUI 12.5 update. These devices got their last major MIUI 12 update in July and August 2020 respectively.

That said, Zhang hasn’t mentioned the 5G version of the Mi MIX 3 5G which got the direct update to MIUI 12 in September. But, we can expect it to be on the roster. What is uncertain is the update rollout date for the above-mentioned devices.

Zhang says that the update will come a little later after the company finishes the pending projects and ensures the test build is free of bugs. So, don’t expect the intermediate MIUI 12.5 on them anytime soon.

An OTA update with firmware version V12.5.3.0.RJBCNXM and V12.5.3.0.RJACNXM is rolling out to Xiaomi Mi 10, Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro respectively in China. Both the builds weigh about 4.0GB in size and it does bring the latest MIUI 12.5 stable based on Android 11 to the devices.

If you recall, Xiaomi started rolling out the stable MIUI 12.5 update to users in China a few days ago. As mentioned above, the Mi 10 Ultra and followed by other devices like the Mi 11, Mi 9 SE have got it recently.

Coming back, the update for the Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro also has the March 2021 security patch. Xiaomi launched the MIUI 12.5 back in December. The incremental UI has improvements like UI Design improvements, more Super wallpapers, improved privacy, haptics, MIUI+, uninstallable built-in apps, and more.

That said, the rollout is said to continue further and not stop with the flagships as Xiaomi has already revealed a list of 28 devices scheduled to get it in the first wave in China. When it comes to global markets, the Mi 11 is likely to get it soon, and followed by it, various devices are on the list.

As for the Mi 10 users elsewhere, do keep in mind that this rollout is only for China so you will have to wait till Xiaomi expands the regions for this stable update. And for the users in China, these particular builds are in ‘stable beta recovery’ so it should reach only a few for now before coming out as a wider rollout in the coming days.

An update with firmware version V12.5.1.0.RKBCNXM is rolling out to select users of the Xiaomi Mi 11 in China. It brings the latest MIUI 12.5 and March 2021 security patch to the device. If you recall, the flagship smartphone debuted in December 2020 but had MIUI 12 based on Android 11 and not the newer 12.5.

However, the company unveiled the incremental MIUI 12.5 at the event and said that Xiaomi Mi 11 would be one of the first ones to get it later in the year. The company then went on to release the Mi 11 and MIUI 12.5 globally.

Besides, Xiaomi unveiled the new members of the Mi 11 series- Mi 11 Pro, Mi 11 Ultra yesterday. Unlike the Mi 11, these devices come with MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 out of the box.

Either way, the Mi 11 will get all the goodies of MIUI 12.5 like Design improvements, more Super wallpapers, improved privacy, haptics, MIUI+, uninstallable built-in apps, and more. As for the rollout, since it’s still in the Stable Beta stage, it will be rolled out to a few users as mentioned above. After ensuring that it is void to major bugs the wider rollout will begin.

That said, Mi 11 won’t be the loner to get the latest UI in China as a list of 27 other devices are scheduled in the near future.

Similar to China’s schedule, the Mi 11 devices around the globe are likely to receive the MIUI 12.5 stable update around Q2, 2021. After this, expect the update to trickle down to the older flagships as well.
