<p>Yesterday, a popular tipster <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/09/xiaomi-ditching-miui-15-in-favor-of-mios/">claimed</a> that MIUI 14 will be the final version of the software. He also added that Xiaomi will be replacing its 13-year-old Android skin with a self-developed MiOS featuring&nbsp; AOSP (Android Open Source Project) elements.</p>

<p>However, we know that the company has been working on MIUI 15 for months. Also, even if MiOS gets released, it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/10/xiaomi-miui-15-mios/">could be exclusive to China</a>.</p>

<p>Amidst this confusion, Xiaomi is rolling out a useful feature for devices running MIUI 14. Let’s go through the details.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-1024x781.png?x10805" alt="Xiaomi civi 3" class="wp-image-539431" width="1024" height="781" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-1024x781.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-300x229.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-768x586.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-696x531.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-1068x815.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-550x420.png 550w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/Screenshot-2023-05-25-143125.png 1139w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-civi-3/">Xiaomi Civi 3</a></figcaption></figure>

<p>Recently, Xiaomi started seeing a new software build for Xiaomi 12S Pro in China. This update bumps up the MIUI version to V14.0.10.0.TLECNXM.</p>

<p>The official changelog only <a href="https://www.ithome.com/0/723/708.htm">mentions</a> the inclusion of August 2023 security patches. However, the update brings a feature allowing users to force up to a 120Hz refresh rate on all applications.</p>

<p>This new option can be found in the ‘Refresh rate’ settings. It is denoted as ‘Apps using high refresh rate’.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tapping on it will open the list of installed applications (including system) on the device. Users can turn on/off high refresh rate for them per-app basis.</p>

<p>Some apps tend to run at regular 60Hz even when the phone’s display is set to a higher refresh rate. Thanks to the addition of this new feature, users can now force those applications to run at a maximum of 120Hz refresh rate.</p>

<p>Thus, users will no longer have to face jitters caused by the switching of refresh rates among applications.</p>

<p>This option should be soon available for other <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> group smartphones. Xiaomiui <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/expected-miui-15-will-support-high-refresh-rate-for-all-apps-51810/">suggests</a> that it will be also part of MIUI 15.</p>

<p>However, as of now, we don’t know if this feature will be added to all phones and tablets with a high refresh rate display.</p>

<p>A <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/09/xiaomi-ditching-miui-15-in-favor-of-mios/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">recent report</a> by Digital Chat Station claimed that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi </a>is planning to skip<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui-15/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> MIUI 15</a> altogether and launch a new operating system called MiOS instead. However, <em>Xiaomiui</em>, a blog that solely covers Xiaomi-related news, has suggested that these claims are entirely baseless and untrue.</p>

<p>According to <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/will-xiaomis-mios-be-launch-no-continue-with-miui-15-heres-what-us-expect-and-fake-news-51816/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><em>Xiaomiui</em>,</a> Xiaomi is still testing MIUI 15 internally and is expected to officially release it with the Xiaomi 14 series. They also added that there is currently no relevant information about MiOS.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-1024x536.jpg?x10805" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>However, the blog<em> </em>did not rule out the possibility of Xiaomi switching from MIUI to MiOS in the future. They suggested that if Xiaomi does make such a switch, it would likely only happen in China, and MiOS would not be available globally.</p>

<p>In support of its claims, <em>Xiaomiui</em> shared some code snippets showing that MIUI 15 is being tested on different Xiaomi smartphones. The hints of these internal builds were obtained from the official Xiaomi server and therefore can be considered reliable. MIUI 15 is currently in the testing phase for a bunch of Xiaomi smartphones, including the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-13/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 13</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-13-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomi 13 Ultra</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k60-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Redmi K60 Pro</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mix-fold-3/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mix Fold 3</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-573641" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-build-testing-for-various-Xiaomi-smartphones-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>While it is still too early to say for sure whether Xiaomi is truly planning to retire MIUI and launch MiOS, the fact that the company is already testing MIUI 15 suggests that MIUI is not going away anytime soon, at least in the global market.</p>

<p>Google has finally released the stable<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/04/google-android-14-launches/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Android 14 </a>update to Pixel phones, along with the newly launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-8/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 8</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-8-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pixel 8 Pro</a>. <div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-1024x536.jpg?x10805" alt="MIUI 15 legacy themes" class="wp-image-572443" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-legacy-themes.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>As always, the new MIUI skin will come with a host of new features and performance improvements. However, the tech giant may also be planning to ditch legacy themes with their new skin.</p>

<p>According to a report by <em><a href="https://xiaomiui.net/miui-15-may-not-support-legacy-themes-say-goodbye-to-your-favorite-themes-51706/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Xiaomiui</a></em>, Xiaomi is considering removing legacy themes from MIUI 15. This means that some old and popular themes may not be compatible with the upcoming software update. This is because Xiaomi has updated its theme engine to the latest MIUI version, which is said to be incompatible with legacy themes.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-572441" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/MIUI-15-will-not-support-legacy-themes-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>However, Xiaomiui notes that there is still a chance that your favorite theme will be updated to be MIUI 15 compatible. For this, users can send feedback to the theme developer and ask them to update their theme for the new UI.&nbsp;</p>

<p>But if your favorite theme doesn&#8217;t get updated, you&#8217;ll need to switch to one that works with MIUI 15. Don&#8217;t worry, there will be plenty of fantastic MIUI 15-compatible themes in the Themes app. Also, the MIUI 15 update is just around the corner, so stay with us for ongoing updates.</p>

<p>Xiaomi re-entered the tablet category with the launch of the Xiaomi Pad 5 series in 2021. These devices were introduced with MIUI 12.5 for Pad based on Android 11.</p>

<p>Right now, they boot Android 13-based MIUI 14 in all the markets. According to new findings, these products will get an update to <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-15/">MIUI 15</a> in the near future. But there’s a catch.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="Xiaomi Pad 5" class="wp-image-457101" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/Xiaomi-Pad-5-Featured-A-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Xiaomi Pad 5</figcaption></figure>

<p>Xiaomiui <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/xiaomi-pad-5-series-confirmed-to-receive-miui-15-update-51454/">says</a> that Xiaomi is developing MIUI 15 builds for the original three Xiaomi Pad 5 series models. These include <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-pad-5/">Xiaomi Pad 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-pad-5-pro/">Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro WiFi</a>, and Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 5G.</p>

<p>However, the upcoming MIUI update for these tablets will not bump up the Android version. In other words, they will not be receiving the <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/Android-14/">Android 14</a> update.</p>

<p>It is not surprising as Xiaomi did not promise three OS upgrades for them, unlike the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-11t/">Xiaomi 11T</a> series and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-11-lite-5g-ne/">Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G</a> that were released in the same year. But it still does not feel right,</p>

<p>Because consumers are known to use tablets for a longer period than smartphones. Anyway, the software support on Xiaomi tablets is far better than earlier but it is still not enough. For the unaware, previous <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> tablets generally received a single MIUI update and no Android update.</p>

<p>Compared to other Chinese OEMs, Xiaomi is slow to adopt better software support, For instance, it just announced 4 OS updates for select smartphones while competitors made such changes last year.</p>

<p>The Xiaomi 14 series is rumored to launch in November. The company’s next-gen flagship smartphones are expected to be the first devices to house a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.</p>

<p>These phones will be accompanied by other products. One of them will likely be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-15/">MIUI 15</a>, the next iteration of Xiaomi’s mobile software based on Android.</p>

<p>We have been hearing about it for months, just like the phones. The latest findings reveal that the software has hit the stable channel for internal tests.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-503862" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-2048x1152.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-1920x1080.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/Xiaomi-13-Pro-Unboxed-13-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Xiaomi 13 Pro</figcaption></figure>

<p>According to <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/first-miui-15-stable-builds-spotted-on-xiaomi-server-51397/"><em>Xiaomiui</em></a>, MIUI 15 stable builds are ready for internal test purposes. The publication has spotted builds for several unreleased devices.</p>

<p>Some of these builds are also live in multiple regional flavors, such as ‘Globa’l, ‘EEA’, and&nbsp; ‘India’, in addition to ‘China.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Currently, MIUI 15 stable is ready for five products. Xiaomiui suggests their names to be following based on build numbers.</p>

<ul><li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi-14/">Xiaomi 14</a></li><li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi-14-Pro/">Xiaomi 14 Pro</a></li><li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K70/">Redmi K70</a></li><li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K70-Pro/">Redmi K70 Pro</a></li><li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi-K70E/">Redmi K70E</a></li></ul>

<p>Two of the aforementioned Redmi K70 models <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/30/redmi-k70-k70e-k70-pro-model-numbers-revealed-poco-f6-f6-pro-in-works/">are expected</a> to be released as Poco F6 and Poco F6 Pro in international markets. Thus, the MIUI 15 stable builds for these handsets are live for China, Global, EEA, and India. While the Xiaomi 14 series builds are only ready for EEA and China.</p>

<p>These findings don’t reveal any features of the software. But they confirm the imminent release of MIUI 15.</p>

<p><a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi </a>typically launches its flagship number series towards the end of the year. The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-13">Xiaomi 13</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-13-pro">Xiaomi 13 Pro</a> made their debut in December 2022. However, this time around, the company might launch the Xiaomi 14 series earlier, with reports suggesting the flagships may arrive in early November. While there is no official confirmation, the MIUI 15 codebase has now offered evidence backing the November launch timeline for the upcoming phones.</p>

<p>According to <em>Xiaomiui</em>, Xiaomi is testing MIUI 15 based on Android 14. The code indicates that Xiaomi will release the Xiaomi 14 series models in China in the first week of November. The publication also adds that the latest internal version numbers are MIUI-V15.0.0.1.UNCEUXM and MIUI-V15.0.0.1.UNBEUXM. Based on the build number, it appears that the development of the Xiaomi 14 series is nearing completion.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="189" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15.webp?x10805" alt="Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15" class="wp-image-566300" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15-300x55.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15-768x142.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Xiaomi-14-Series-MIUI-15-696x128.webp 696w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Last week, tipster Digital Chat Station <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/09/06/xiaomi-14-series-launch-could-be-scheduled-in-the-first-or-second-week-of-november/">revealed a similar timeline</a>, suggesting that Xiaomi aims to launch the Xiaomi 14 series before the Double Eleven sales event— a shopping event in China, also known as Singles’ Day. This event, which occurs on November 11 each year, can be considered the Chinese equivalent of Black Friday, if not even bigger.</p>

<p>As usual, Xiaomi has not made an official announcement yet. If the launch timelines are accurate, we can expect the company to commence teasing the new flagship next month. For those unaware, the upcoming Xiaomi 14 series will likely comprise two models— <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-14">Xiaomi 14</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-14-pro">Xiaomi 14 Pro</a>. There will also be an Ultra model, but its release is expected sometime in Q1 2024. Anyways, both devices are reported to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which itself is set to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/02/snapdragon-8-gen-3-launch-date-confirmed/">launch in October</a>.</p>

<p>Qualcomm is<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/02/snapdragon-8-gen-3-launch-date-confirmed/"> launching</a> the next generation of its flagship chipset in October at the Snapdragon Summit 2023. Following the event, Xiaomi will announce the new MIUI 15 based on Android 14, and will also shed some light on the Xiaomi 14 series. It will be like a soft announcement of Xiaomi&#8217;s next flagship. However, the actual Xiaomi 14 launch will take place in November, and the device will come pre-installed with stable MIUI 15. </p>

<p>The report seems to be corresponding to the launch timeline of both companies. Considering Apple&#8217;s new iPhone launch in September, October looks more suitable for the new chipset announcement. It will be followed by Xiaomi 14&#8217;s launch in November. Then, there will be multiple smartphone launches from Vivo, Oppo, ZTE, and other brands.</p>

<p>Last time, Vivo&#8217;s X90 Pro+ was the debut smartphone to launch first using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It was later followed by iQOO 11 and 11 Pro, and then Xiaomi 13 Series. We hope Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to debut first with Xiaomi 14 series. </p>

<p>The chipset<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/10/snapdragon-8-gen-3-50-percent-powerful-gpu-than-snapdragon-8-gen-2/"> will equip</a> an octa-core design including a Cortex-X4 core, 5x Cortex-A720 cores, and two Cortex-A520 cores.</p>

<h2><strong>Xiaomi 14 Series Specifications and Features (Expected)</strong></h2>

<p>The Xiaomi 13&#8217;s successor seems to bundle several upgrades and enhancements in both the software and hardware segment. The smartphone appears to bundle a new 50MP 1/1.28-inch primary sensor which is a bit larger than the last year&#8217;s sensor. It will bundle along a telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom capability and an ultrawide angle lens. Further, the base model is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/08/18/xiaomi-13t-pro-uk-europe-price-leaked/">expected to</a> feature a 4860 mAh battery with support for 90W fast wired charging and 50W wireless charging.</p>

<p>There will be a design change, and even the camera module will have a different arrangement, in comparison with the last year&#8217;s model.</p>

<p>Xiaomi’s <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/miui-15">MIUI 15</a> development seems to be at pace as we have started to learn details about the OS through recurring leaks. Recently, MIUI 15 alpha builds were <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/03/miui-15-alpha-builds-xiaomi-server/">spotted on Xiaomi server</a> and it also apparent that the Redmi Note 13 and Xiaomi 14 series will run the latest version out of the box. In the latest development, a report has shared two features that Xiaomi might introduce with the MIUI 15. Here are the details.</p>

<p>The team at <em>Xiaomiui</em> has uncovered two new features coming to MIUI 15. The more notable of the two is an improved clipboard that will allow users to copy and paste images and files. This is a feature that is already available on Samsung phones, and it can be very convenient for quickly sharing content between apps. For example, you could copy an image from a website and paste it into a Telegram chat without having to open the gallery (See screenshot below).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="473" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/photo_6179199664306370300_y-473x1024.jpg?x10805" alt="Samsung image clipboard" class="wp-image-552337" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/photo_6179199664306370300_y-473x1024.jpg 473w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/photo_6179199664306370300_y-139x300.jpg 139w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/photo_6179199664306370300_y-194x420.jpg 194w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/photo_6179199664306370300_y.jpg 591w" sizes="(max-width: 473px) 100vw, 473px" /></figure></div>

<p>The other feature will offer<a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi"> Xiaomi</a> phones a volume boost. As per the publication’s findings, MIUI 15 will add a new toggle in the quick settings menu that will let you increase the volume output by up to 200%. This should make multimedia experience on the phones much better and also help you enjoy content in noisy environments.</p>

<p>There’s no news regarding the launch date of MIUI 15. Rumor has it the custom skin will be introduced in China in December and make it to the global market early in 2024. This aligns with MIUI 14 launch last year. As mentioned, Redmi Note 13 as well as the Xiaomi 14 phones will <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/07/05/miui-15-pre-installed-redmi-note-13-xiaomi-14/">debut with MIUI 15</a>.</p>

<p>In the realm of consumer electronics, major brands like Asus, OnePlus, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/fairphone">Fairphone</a>, and Samsung marked their presence by unveiling innovative devices. Threads&#8217; successful integration with Instagram has been instrumental in its initial success, having already attracted over 30 million signups and being the top free app in Apple’s App Store.</p>

<p>French lawmakers have passed a justice reform bill granting police the power to remotely access and activate suspects&#8217; device cameras, microphones, and GPS systems, stirring controversy. Critics argue the measure infringes on fundamental liberties and leans towards authoritarian surveillance. Although the law restricts usage to serious crimes and requires judicial approval, privacy advocates are concerned about the potential for abuse. Justice Minister Éric Dupond-Moretti argues the law is a necessary tool for saving lives.</p>

<p>MIUI is the oldest Android skin on the market. Once regarded as one of the best, the software’s quality degraded in recent years, especially in budget devices.</p>

<p>But due to the sheer number of Xiaomi group smartphone sales, the monthly active users of MIUI just recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/24/xiaomi-miui-worldwide-monthly-active-users-exceed-600-million/">exceeded 600 million</a>. So more than half a billion consumers depend on this software every day.</p>

<p>Thus, a new version of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI/">MIUI</a> affects a whole lot of users. The next version of MIUI is expected to be MIUI 14.5. But as per a report, this version will not be released.</p>

<h3><br><strong>Xiaomi is apparently working on MIUI 15 based on Android 14</strong></h3>

<p>According to <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/miui-14-5-update-cancelled-to-accelerate-adaptation-to-android-14-47283/"><em>Xiaomiui</em></a>, Xiaomi has dropped plans to release MIUI 14.5. Instead, the company is focussing on the next major release — MIUI 15.</p>

<p>It is said that the company is working on adapting <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-14/">Android 14</a> for MIUI 15. This means devices that will get MIUI 15 update in the future will also receive an upgrade to Android 14.</p>

<p>However, we believe that there could be Android 13-based MIUI 15 builds as well. Because historically, Xiaomi is known to deliver newer MIUI versions based on gen-old Android platforms for older smartphones.</p>

<p>Anyways, we will have to wait and see how this plays out.&nbsp; But we may learn about the new features in the coming days once the software approaches the testing phase.</p>

<p>Hopefully, Xiaomi doesn’t introduce unwanted bugs and gimmicky features that may fade out soon. Do let us know your expectations in the comment section below.</p>
