Therefore, almost all mobile titles have lower hardware requirements for better accessibility. However, the price of dedicated gaming smartphones has soared high in recent years.

These devices offer top-of-the-line performance and the latest tech. But are they worth spending $1000 or more?

Today, one can play almost all titles properly on any mid-range or above phone. So should you splurge on mobile gaming hardware? Let’s find out together.

The Gaming Phone Dilemma

Asus’ ROG (Republic of Gamers) is one of the most popular consumer-facing gaming hardware brands. It is the only widely available brand that has a presence in the smartphone market.

In fact, it is the company that popularized the gaming smartphone category. As a leader in the niche segment, the firm steadily increased the price of its handsets over the years.

At present, the latest ROG Phone 9 series starts at $1,000 and goes all the way up to $1,500. That’s a lot of money for a dedicated gaming smartphone.

Lately, Asus has toned down the screaming gaming aesthetics to make the product look and feel more like a regular phone. But it still can’t match the overall experience offered by regular flagships.

ROG Phones are primarily only good at gaming. When you look at them as an everyday premium phone (due to their high asking price), they fall short.

The Case Against Expensive Gaming Phones

Even if you have purchased the latest ROG Phone 9 Pro, there aren’t many resource-hungry titles to play in the first place. 

As we mentioned earlier, most games are now designed to run even on the lowest of hardware as much as possible. There are only a handful of titles that may play marginally better on expensive gaming phones. 

It has been nearly 3 years since the introduction of ray tracing on phones, however, there are very few games that use this tech. Also, ray tracing on smartphones is comparatively less pronounced than on PCs and consoles.

Though the hardware is capable enough, there aren’t software to make use of it. Developers are flocking toward the freemium model with more accessible games for revenue generation.

Finding the Right Balance

If you are in the market for a smartphone for gaming, you don’t need to spend $1,000 or more. A capable enough chipset, size, and battery are more than enough.

So any phone with a year or more old flagship chip from Qualcomm and MediaTek will just do fine. Devices touting these chipsets are mostly previous-gen premium phones. So you can get them at a much lower price than what they used to cost at launch.

Sometimes, these chips are all found in so-called flagship-killer phones. They tend to cost half of the regular flagship but still provide almost the same level of performance.

If not for flagship chips, any latest mid-range is also capable enough. Handsets featuring these chipsets are even more affordable.

The next thing to look for is the size. Generally, larger smartphones offer sustained performance. That’s because they tend to dissipate heat better. You also get bigger displays and louder speakers on such phones.

Lastly, handsets with huge batteries will last longer. Also, make sure they have fast charging support so that you can recharge them in no time.

Prior-gen Flagships and Mid-rangers

If you are low on budget, you can still buy a good smartphone for gaming without spending a lot. Instead of opting for the latest gaming smartphone or a flagship, you can go with a generation or two older models.

For instance, you can go with the last-gen Galaxy S24 Ultra or even the older Galaxy S23 Ultra. These phones will cost you hundreds of dollars less than the new Galaxy S25 Ultra. 

Similarly, if you are not into Samsung, perhaps try older OnePlus 12 or 11 rather than OnePlus 13. We could say the same for Motorola Edge phones, Xiaomi number series, Honor Magic series, and more.

Alternately, if you live in a region where you get access to powerful mid-rangers, you can opt for those handsets. Phones like Poco F series, Realme GT series, and Xiaomi T series will get you serious performance for way less price.

Lastly, if case you are in the Apple ecosystem, you can go with older Plus and Pro Max iPhones instead of newer models.

The Appeal of Chinese Smartphones

China gets a wide variety of smartphones. Almost all of them are way more affordable and yet pack a lot of things.

Some of these handsets make their way to nearby Asian countries. A select few also land in Europe. But none of them get released in the far west.

So these phones are not designed for international audience in mind. So they may have some compatibility issues. If you are fine with the drawbacks, you can import these products.

For instance, the best alternative to the ROG Phone 9 series is the Red Magic 10 lineup. It costs about half and even excels in some scenarios.

Further, iQOO smartphones are known for well-tuned performance across all price range. Lastly, flagships from Xiaomi, Vivo, and Oppo are generally more affordable when imported when compared to their official prices outside mainland China.

Back when Apple unveiled the iPhone 15 series, the support for AAA games was one of the highlights for me during the live event. Mobile gaming was often seen as a younger sibling to its console and PC counterparts. However, the bridge between the experience seemingly disappeared overnight.

It’s been nearly a year since the announcement and we’ve had a couple of new AAA titles released since. But these high fidelity games for mobile devices like smartphones and tablets still feel out of place.

Different Playstyles

Gaming on mobile devices has been really successful thanks to the accessibility and on-the-go nature of smartphones. It doesn’t get simpler than picking up your phone and playing. But this experience doesn’t really translate all too well for AAA games. Sure you have your COD Mobile and PUBG Mobile players that are extremely proficient with controls on a smaller display, but the immersive experience of console and PC titles can be missed.

Studios and developers spend years crafting an artificial world. But a player can miss all these finer details entirely. Some of the more popular mobile games often bring short bite sized gameplay sessions and not a long immersive experience. There are a multitude of reasons why AAA games aren’t popular on smartphones and this disconnect in player expectation and actual experience is one of them.

Hardware Limitations

Performance have smartphones has made significant strides and it is still impressive that some AAA games can run on mobile devices. But despite all of this, it still falls short of the processing power and graphical capabilities of PCs and consoles. Games that were optimized for mobile devices need to sacrifice visual fidelity to maintain a playable frame rate.

This can be seen in games like Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the Resident Evil titles that launched on the iPhones 15 Pros. Unfortunately, Android only gets older AAA titles and none of these aforementioned games. So if you don’t have the latest and greatest iPhone, these hefty games are already out of reach. Developers cut down on many aspects of such games, but these are still massive downloads compared to actual mobile games.

No one is buying AAA games on mobile

The mobile gaming market is dominated by the freemium business model, which has even become popular in live service titles for PCs and consoles. In other words, the games on smartphones are free, but companies generate revenue through in-game purchases. This could be in the form of lootboxes or direct purchases of digital cosmetics. However, AAA games have a price tag.

Resident Evil Village is cheaper and still costs 15.99 US Dollars. Meanwhile, Assassin’s Creed Mirage costs 49.99 US Dollars. These titles had a long and expensive development cycle, but mobile gamers would turn away from spending this kind of money without even trying the game. Reports have surfaced that claim that AAA releases are far from a success, Only selling tens of thousands or just thousands of copies since they were released. There aren’t a lot of options as well, with mobile ports incurring additional costs to studios and publishers.

Conclusion

Smartphones and tablets have become incredibly powerful devices, but these still face significant hurdles in delivering a true AAA experience. Arm has unveiled a game-changer for mobile gamers: Arm Accuracy Super Resolution (ASR). This upscaling tech, based on AMD‘s FSR2 but optimized for mobile devices, lets you enjoy smoother gameplay even on less powerful phones and tablets. Unlike FSR2, designed for PCs and high-end consoles, Arm ASR prioritizes mobile applications and runs smoothly on devices with limited processing power. To further sweeten the deal, Arm offers ASR as an open-source solution, freely available to developers for integration into their games without licensing fees.

This technology arrives at a critical juncture. With the increasing processing power of Arm processors (think Apple’s M series chips bringing Arm to laptops), mobile gaming is booming, with even demanding 3A titles landing on smartphones and tablets. Arm ASR addresses this shift by being specifically optimized for mobile limitations.

Internal tests by Arm are impressive. Using a specific GPU at 2x upscaling resolution, ASR delivers a 53% frame rate increase compared to FSR2’s 36%. Additionally, tests with MediaTek‘s Dimensity 9300 chip show that 2x ASR reduces power consumption by over 20% compared to native 1080p rendering. This translates to longer gaming sessions on battery-powered devices and helps prevent overheating – a major concern for mobile gamers.

While not the first mobile super-resolution technology (Qualcomm’s offering focused on performance over image quality), Arm ASR takes a different approach. It utilizes temporal super-resolution sampling technology, working with the game engine to deliver higher image quality but with slightly higher processing demands. This approach could positively impact Microsoft’s Copilot+ PC running Windows 11 on Arm, considering their focus on enhancing the Arm gaming experience. While Microsoft’s Auto SR technology offers AI-powered performance improvement, its reliance on AI processing currently limits its use to Copilot+ PCs.

Finally, Arm ASR boasts ease of use. Its foundation in AMD’s FSR2 allows familiar developers to quickly adapt to its API and configuration options. The open-source nature also eliminates licensing fees, simplifying cross-platform game development and enabling seamless progress transfer between devices, so you can pick up your game wherever you left off.

It is a Dark Fantasy based Open World RPG, which saw massive success within the gaming community for its gorgeous visuals, deep mechanics, and challenging boss fights.

Now, it appears that this formula might get translated from a $60 AAA title to a free-to-play mobile game. Of course, this means that microtransactions will likely make an appearance in-game. Unfortunately, this was all the information shared in the report. It is worth noting that news of the Tencent made Elden Ring mobile game arrives soon after the Chinese company halted development of the highly anticipated Nier mobile game.

Within this expansive industry, the mobile gaming sector stood out, amassing 606.27 billion yuan ($85.76B), half of which was dominated by Chinese companies. Their dominance in the global market is attributed to the creation of high-quality games, ongoing innovation, and aggressive global expansion strategies.

Chinese Dominance and Diversification in the Growing Global Mobile Gaming Market

Despite this success, Chinese developers encountered a setback, as their self-developed games’ overseas revenue dipped by 5.65% to $16.366B. The major markets for Chinese mobile games, including the United States, Japan, and South Korea, still contributed to more than half of China’s overseas revenue, underscoring the international appeal of these games.

This widespread acceptance is the result of continuous improvement in game quality, the introduction of innovative features, and effective market and brand expansion strategies. Although strategy games continue to lead Chinese mobile game exports, the casual gaming sector is witnessing rapid growth, with its overseas market share jumping from 0.6% to 5.1% in just three years.

The landscape is further reinforced by the presence of 52 Chinese firms among the top 100 global revenue generators in the industry, with Tencent Games standing out with revenue surpassing 100 billion yuan ($14.13B).

However, challenges persist, notably a declining revenue share from self-developed Chinese products, fierce international competition, rising user acquisition costs, and the struggle for effective localization due to a shortage of local talent.

To overcome challenges in expanding their products overseas, over 60% of surveyed Chinese companies are emphasizing long-term product operations, and about two-thirds are using brand or IP partnerships to attract international users. These strategies, combined with a focus on regional preferences and the adoption of advanced technologies such as AI and improved game engines, are essential for Chinese developers looking to maintain global dominance and succeed in the global market.

Oppo has just announced a new strategic partnership. The smartphone maker is working closely with Unity to offer better gaming performance and graphics fidelity on its smartphones.

So an improvement in gaming performance specially optimized for Oppo devices would offer a better gameplay experience to the brand’s customers.

The company announced the partnership with the real time 3G engine giant Unity during the China International Import Expo. This cooperation aims to improve visual fidelity or graphic visuals and even make the games based on Unity run smoother as well. Furthermore, Oppo has already integrated its self developed ray tracing algorithm into the Unity game development engine, which helps create lights and shadows in real time in the game.

The smartphone brand’s ray tracing algorithms can also generate real time dynamic shadows, surface reflections, glass refractions, and more. For those unaware, Rainbox Six Mobile follows a similar format and gameplay to its PC and console counterparts. Its a 5v5 tactical shooter that pits two teams against one another. But unlike the PC and console version, the game is planned to be a free to play title and its beta test went live back on September 12. As of right now, the new mobile game is available in only seven countries, namely USA, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Philippines, and India.

Furthermore, the developers have also stated that they plan on sharing more invites and bring new changes to the beta program as well. Ubisoft announced through its official Twitter handle that it is rolling out invitations for some pre-registered users through Google Play in selected Closed Beta eligible regions. In other words, even registered users will not immediately get access to the game, but the company plans on slowly increasing the number of beta players and frequency of invitations over the next couple of weeks.

Unfortunately, the close beta test for Rainbox Six Mobile is only exclusive to Android users at the moment. So for those interested, you can expect to find the classic 5v5 Attack vs Defense game mode in the beta test, same as the PC and console version of the game. There are multiple operators in the game that each bring a unique gadget that play into the ‘tactical’ shooter aspect of this game. There are two game modes in the beta right now, including Bomb and Secure Area, with the maps selection also being limited to Bank and Border.

Despite having a rocky launch, Diablo Immortal is still one of the most popular launches in Android gaming market. It is the first entry in a long time within the massively popular Diablo series, but it seems that Samsung users may be left out of the experience.

While the South Korean tech giant’s Exynos powered smartphones are typically considered to be inferior to their Snapdragon powered counterparts. This is only slightly noticeable. But now, it appears that some mobile games aren’t able to play this game due to bigger issues with the graphical fidelity. In a Reddit thread (Via SamMobile), Samsung users that have Exynos powered phones have been facing issues like artifacting when playing the game.

These issues range from minor texture glitches to even game breaking bugs and performance issues. This issue was believed to primarily affect the brand’s budget level smartphones, but now, its been confirmed to occur on older flagship models like the Galaxy S10 and Note 10 series as well. Some of these bugs are also present in the latest premium grade smartphones within the Galaxy S22 lineup.

As of right now, the developers behind Diablo Immortal have confirmed that they are aware of this issue and is working on a fix that should be releasing sometime soon. But at the moment, Samsung smartphone owners will have to wait before being able to properly experience this game. Thus, the team is even considering on disabling the downloads for the new title till the issue is addressed.

Over the last couple of months, Respawn Entertainment has been testing out Apex Legends Mobile. While the popular battle royale title’s mobile port has been available for download in limited regions, it was only released on Android. But now, the game is finally arriving on iOS as well as in new regions. So lets take a look.

The studio behind the game has confirmed the regional launch of Apex Legends Mobile. The game was in beta tests last year and saw great reception initially. So now, the company is bringing the game to 10 additional nations, including:

• Australia
• New Zealand
• Singapore
• Malaysia
• Philippines
• Indonesia
• Mexico
• Peru
• Argentina
• Colombia

Unfortunately, despite being one of the major mobile gaming markets, there is currently no word for an Indian launch for the mobile version of Apex Legends. In other words, we may likely have to wait for a full/global launch for the game to arrive in the Southeast Asian country. Apart from the regional launches, Respawn Entertainment also revealed the names of the Legends (Playable Characters in the game) that will be available during the regional launch, namely:

Although, certain 2GB RAM models will be supported for a few brands like Vivo, Oppo, Huawei, Motorola, Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi. EA has just made Apex Legends Mobile available for download in select countries. The game has been in beta builds since last year, and now, Respawn (the developers behind Apex Legends) is finally being released across the globe.

A new report has revealed that China, US, and South Korea hold the top three ranks in the global Esports market. These three nations account for the highest income in the world for Esports.

The information arrives from Omdia (Via GameDeveloper) who also noted that the highest income changed from the US to China in the past five years. Back in 2018, the US ranked first, while China and South Korea came in second and third respectively. But as of 2019, the China has surpassed the US in terms of Esports revenue, with South Korea arriving third, Germany ranking fourth, and Britain holding the fifth spot.

Furthermore, Omdia also shared its projection for the Esports industry till the year 2025. It believes that the top five countries accounted for 73 percent of the global Esports revenue in 2020, although, this share will drop to 69 percent as lower ranked countries slowly increase their market share in the industry thank to the expansion of high speed networks.

Notably, iResearch, a Market research and consultancy based firm, shared their 2021 China Esports Industry Report back in May 2021, which shared the overall market size of China’s Esports industry. The report believed that the market will surpass 145 billion Yuan (roughly 22.5 billion US Dollars) in 2020. The largest contributor to this is the rapid growth of the mobile Esports gaming market. This figure is expected to surpass 180 billion Yuan within this year.

The OnePlus 9RT launch is just around the corner, with the smartphone being set to launch on 13th October 2021. But just prior to its launch, the company has teased the device again.

Earlier today (12th October 2021), the Chinese smartphone maker shared a new teaser video, which showcased the connectivity aspect of the upcoming handset. Looking at this teaser, the company’s 9RT will support a 3 WiFi antenna system that is designed for mobile gaming. According to official notes, the average latency while playing games is reduced by up to 38 percent. This, in turn, means that the device will offer a better online gaming experience, especially for shooter titles like PUBG.

The brand further added that the OnePlus 9RT has a dedicated antenna for gaming alone, alongside the original two antennas. This dedicated gaming antenna is housed on the top part of the smartphone. With the upcoming device, it is clear that the company is placing an emphasis on gaming as well. It even features improved cooling system, a 600Hz ultra sensitive touch, and an extremely low screen latency. Other features include, Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM that can be expanded by 7GB thanks to virtual RAM support, and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage.

Pokémon Unite has finally launched for smartphones and arrives with a space themed battle pass, brand new skins, and more. The game also includes a new Unite Squads feature to bring together different players with a similar goal.

The mobile port of LoL (League of Legends) is finally making its way to China. Riot’s popular MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) title will be available in the region starting from September 15.

The announcement was made on the official Weibo account of League of Legends: Wild Rift earlier today (14th September 2021). The mobile port of the popular title received the approval this week by China’s National Press and Publication Administration. At the moment, League of Legends: Wild Rift was already available in the country before for testing, but now, the game will finally be getting a wider beta launch with users not losing any of their progress or data.

As of right now, LoL is one of the most played competitive multiplayer title in the world and is also quite popular in China. In recent years, the mobile gaming industry has seen huge growth and it seems that Riot has plans to branch into it as well. Even prior to its official launch in the nation, an esports scene has already began within China by TJ Sport, which also conducts the LPL AKA Pro League. The LPL organizations has also begun signing rosters in Wild Rift, with the qualifiers starting from September 11.

Earlier today (1st September 2021), Krafton Inc officially announced the arrival of PUBG: New State in India. The studio has started the pre-registration of the mobile game in the region that has already been available in various other countries across the globe.

Krafton unveiled the game for India on the official PUBG: New State website. For those interested, you can register for the game on Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The inclusion of iOS support right from the start is a welcomed change over BGMI (Battlegrounds Mobile India) which had first launched only in Android, with support for Apple devices arriving a few after the initial release.

For those unaware, New State is a different title from the company’s massively popular vanilla PUBG Mobile game. This version of the game arrives with new maps, which have a more urban setting over its classic battle royale variant that seen great success. One of the new maps include Troi that comes with a number of new weapons and vehicles that are different from the known cars and bikes you’ve seen in PUBG Mobile.

Furthermore, another notable inclusion is the new weapon customization feature that allows players to modify their weapons inside a match with various attachments. With New State, Krafton is bringing back its franchise in India, after PUBG Mobile got banned in the country back in September 2020. While the company has already launched an exclusive Indian version of the game (BGMI), the new game will carry the official ‘PUBG’ moniker.

A research team has just discovered a data breach that belongs to a known mobile game developer from China. This data breach contained information that exposes more than a million gamers to potentially being hacked.According to the research team from vpnMentor, popular android game developer EskyFun was using an unsecured server to store vast amounts of data collected from users on its games. Notably, a lot of the data collected by the company was quite sensitive and the team noted that there was no reason for a video game company to keep detailed files on its users. Since this sensitive data is not secured, EskyFun has potentially exposed all of these users to fraud, hacking, and other harm (like ransomware) from those with malicious intent.

For those unaware, EskyFun Entertainment Network Limited is a mobile game publisher from China that has numerous popular Android titles under its belt. This includes games that are based around role playing and fantasy genre, with total downloads being over 1.5 million. Furthermore, the games affected by this data leak includes Rainbow Story: Fantasy MMORPG (500,000+ downloads), Metamorph M (100,000+ downloads), Dynasty Heroes: Legends of Samkok (1,000,000+ downloads).

vpnMentor’s research team discovered the data breach back in July 2021 and had immediately informed the publisher. However, the company did not respond and a second attempt at contact was made a few weeks after. After which, the team also contacted Hong Kong CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), which led to the issue being addressed soon after.

While Battlegrounds Mobile India has been launched for Android smartphones, the Indian version of PUBG Mobile has yet to arrive on Apple’s iOS platform. Although, reports and official notes have revealed that the mobile game might not be arriving on iPhones anytime soon.

According to an InsideSport report, certain professional esports athletes have recently stated that the launch of BGMI might be a while away. These players include the likes of Kronten, Owner of Team GodLike esports, as well as popular streamer Mortal, who stated that “it’s unlikely that BGMI is coming anytime soon on iOS. I had a chat with them (Krafton) and they weren’t able to provide much. Krafton said there’s still some time left before they can come up with something solid.

Furthermore, Krafton Inc, the company behind the PUBG IP, also updated its support section, which was related to the release of BGMI for iOS. In this support section, the company stated that “We will keep our fans informed on further developments.
New updates will be released on our official website and social networks, so please stay tuned for further news!” In other words, we still have no official word on when the game would finally make its way to iPhones.

For those unaware, various professional and competitive players prefer the Apple iPhone for this mobile game. So, it would seem odd that Krafton has yet to release the title for iOS as well. While Battlegrounds Mobile India has been a highly anticipated game, the upcoming battle royale title has also been facing a lot of scrutiny and calls for ban even prior to its release. Now, a new report has revealed that data from the Android version of the game was found being sent to servers in China.

According to an IGN report, the data regarding Indian users’ Android smartphones are being sent to a server in China. The data sent and received by the Battlegrounds Mobile India app are from China Mobile Communications servers in Beijing. This is a Tencent owned Proxima Beta in Hong Kong. Similarly, the data is also being sent to Microsoft Azure servers situated in the US, Mumbai, and Moscow.

The report added that these results were produced by simply installing a data packet sniffer app on your Android device. The app would then be able to find out which servers the smartphone is communication with. When checking the servers that the upcoming mobile game is connecting to, it was found that one of the servers was revealed to be run by China Mobile Communications Corporation, which is a Chinese state owned company. This server was located in Beijing, China.

Furthermore, one does not have to play a match either just to get these results. Apparently, Battlegrounds Mobile India also pings a Tencent server in Beijing as it begins booting up the game. This is major news considering Krafton Inc clearly states in its terms of service that the personal information of players would be stores and processed in servers that are based in India and Singapore. Although, it did add that it may “transfer your data to other countries” to meet “legal requirements.”

Earlier today (25th March 2021), Tencent announced that its popular shooter game PUBG Mobile crossed the 1 billion downloads mark, with the numbers being accumulated from when it first launched, back in 2018.

According to a Reuters report, this figure is for all the downloads outside of China. In other words, the Chinese publisher has seen great success across the globe by porting the mobile variant of the popular battle royale game, which has various players fight to be the last man standing. As per the company’s latest record, it is only behind two other mobile game titles, including Kiloo Games’ Subway Surfers and King Digital Entertainment’s Candy Crush Saga.

Analyst Daniel Ahmad stated that “PUBG Mobile achieving 1 billion downloads shows that core games, in this case a AAA Battle Royale title based on the PC IP of the same name, can achieve the same scale in the mobile space.” In China, Tencent also has another battle royale genre based mobile game called Peacekeeper Elite. Furthermore, it also has another hit title called Honor of Kings, which is based on the MOBA genre as well, which has been quite successful in China and in the overseas market as well.

Tencent had also added that it seeks to generate half of all its game revenue from the foreign market. Thus, it has opened up shops in Los Angeles in the US, for its LightSpeed and Quantum Studios and Timi Studios. These sites will aims on “creating content with original intellectual property that has global appeal.”

Talking about the earphones first, the Chinese tech giant launched the Black Shark 3.5mm In-Ear Gaming Headsets in two variants, namely the standard version and the Ring Iron Edition (as per direct translation). The company shared various image posters on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, where it also shared its second iteration of the Cooling Back Clip, along with a 20,000mAh power back, and two versions of a new back cover.

The new rear cover includes the thermal conductive cover and the fluorescent protective cover and are available for the Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro smartphones. Talking about the pricing of these products, the In Ear Gaming Headsets starts from 149 Yuan (roughly 23 US Dollars) for the standard version and 249 Yuan (roughly 38 US Dollars) for the higher end variant. Furthermore, the Cooling Back Clip 2 Pro is priced at 199 Yuan (roughly 30 US Dollars).

The 20,000mAh power bank is priced at 159 Yuan (roughly 25 US Dollars). Lastly, the new rear covers is available for 39 Yuan (roughly 6 US Dollars) for the fluorescent protective cover, on the other hand, the armor thermal variant is available for 79 Yuan (roughly 12 US Dollars). Chinese e-commerce giant JD (Jingdong) has announced an e-sports gaming phone alliance in partnership with players in the gaming industry. The alliance anchors on JD’s expertise in the supply chain, technology, distribution, marketing, and payment solutions to upgrade the gaming ecosystem and to make JD the top choice for customers purchasing gaming devices.

In 2019, China officially recognized esports as an occupation but before the recognition, it has been a booming industry. China’s e-sports market is said to grow 10% annually according to an industry report. The market is expected to hit RMB 270 billion yuan in annual revenue by 2022.

JD previously launched the JD Esports plan in the middle of this year with the aim of expanding to gaming phone hardware, service, and competitions. Based on the plan, JD formed the JDE gaming team and released new gaming-related products from Lenovo, ROG, Black Shark, and Nubia’s Red Magic further promoting the growth of the industry.

The president of JD Mobile Devices, Daniel Tan stated during the conference that: “With the development of the whole industry, gamers’ pursuit of a superior experience is even higher. The JD Esports Plan can provide an integrated service for them, as well as help our partners achieve maximum business value.”

During the ceremony, JD announced a series of services for gamers, including a special trial service, one-hour fast delivery, a special network guarantee, and more. OpenSignal, an analytics based firm, has recently released a report regarding the network experience in 48 Indian cities, and by its extension, the company also measures the cities with their Gaming Experience metric. The list used popular video game titles in the Battle Royale and MOBA genres, including Call of Duty, PlayerUnknown’s BattleGrounds, and Clash Royale for the rankings. In the rankings, it was found that two state, namely Gujarat and Maharashtra, dominated the entire mobile gaming experience in the country.

This is reflected by the fact that Tier 1 cities like Delhi arrive lower in the list. Furthermore, only four out of the eight Tier 1 cities were within the top 20, which included Chennai and Hyderabad, which scored 63.6 and 63.1 points respectively. Meanwhile, other Tier 1 cities like Pune (61.5), Bangalore (61.3), Delhi (59.8), and Kolkata (57.2) placed further down the list in the lower half of the charts.

It can wrap up to 220g, making it suitable for different types of hand sizes as well. Since it is made out of fiber material, it is highly advised to keep it away from any source of fire or any sharp objects that might cut the thin material. It follows a dark gray color scheme with neon green lining and features the brand’s logo as well.

Through the new smartphone gaming hub, the Chinese tech giants aim to bring mobile gamers together through “high-quality content and rewards.” This service will connect Huawei users from Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and more. Huawei GameCenter is essentially a one stop gaming service platform. In other words, it is built primarily for gaming, and its related services. In its core, the hub will work around two services, which are the content service and user welfare. With the new gaming platform, Huawei also plans on rewarding users through exclusive online game packages and online offers.

Furthermore, the GameCenter seems to be influenced by the console and PC gaming industry as well, with the platform offering the premiere launch of certain games before any other platform. This includes Starship Legion-AMG, BORN AS EPIC, Farm Legend, Survival Road, Ellr Land, Dynasty Legends: True Hero Rises from Chaos, Goddess MUA and more.
