It is a rebranded version of the Redmi 9C for the Indian market. Will the new handset from Xiaomi’s sub-brand conquer the entry-level segment or its competitor are too strong for it to stand a chance? We think there is no better way to find it out than comparing it with the best entry-level phones out there. Two very popular budget phones in India are Motorola Moto E7 Plus and Realme Narzo 10A, and they are popular because of their incredibly high value for money. Let’s see if POCO C3 can beat them.

Design

I like the design of the POCO C3: it is compact, minimalistic, and well-balanced. The handset is not too heavy and thick, despite it packs a huge battery. And it even comes with great build quality. However, the choice mostly depends on your tastes: all of these phones are made with a polycarbonate body and they are similar. You do not get better materials with any of these devices and they all come with a waterdrop notch. Note that POCO C3 does not feature a fingerprint scanner, unlike Motorola Moto E7 Plus and Realme Narzo 10A. This makes the device sleeker, but you have to renounce to that authentication method.

Display

The displays of these devices are pretty disappointing, but they are more than sufficient for average users. They are classic IPS panels with a below-average HD+ resolution. The Realme Narzo 10A looks more convincing because it has higher brightness, but it remains nothing special. While choosing among these devices, you should not focus on the display. Instead, look at the other specifications and make your own conclusions.

Specs & Software

The Snapdragon 460 chipset found on the Motorola Moto E7 Plus and the Helio G70 SoC found on the Realme Narzo 10A are pretty similar in terms of performances, but we believe most of the people would choose the Snapdragon 460 because it is built with a better production process and because it is a Qualcomm chipset. POCO C3 loses the hardware comparison because it sports a weaker Helio G35 chipset: still a good SoC even for gamers, but way inferior to Helio G70 and Snapdragon 460. These three handsets run Android 10 out of the box and feature up to 4 GB of RAM paired with up to 64 GB of eMMC internal storage.

Camera

Despite it has a lower amount of sensors on the rear side, the Motorola Moto E7 Plus is the best camera phone of the trio. It has a great 48 MP main sensor with a bright f/1.7 focal aperture as the main camera, paired with a 2 MP depth sensor. It even comes with a better 8 MP selfie camera (Realme Narzo 10A and POCO C3 have a 5 MP selfie snapper). The silver medal goes to the Realme Narzo 10A with its 12 MP f/1.8 main sensor paired with a 2 MP macro camera and a 2 MP depth sensor. POCO C3 loses again.

Battery

Motorola Moto E7 Plus, Realme Narzo 10A, and POCO C3 have exactly the same battery capacity: 5000 mAh. We did not test all of them, but we can say the Motorola Moto E7 Plus may last more because it has a more efficient chipset built at 11 nm. However, we are probably talking about marginal differences.

Price

POCO C3 is priced just €86/$100 in India. Motorola Moto E7 Plus costs €150/$175 in the 4/64 GB, while Realme Narzo 10A 3/32 GB costs €130/$152. Due to its better cameras and great chipset, Motorola Moto E7 Plus wins the comparison. But with the POCO C3, you can save a lot of money while still getting a very good entry-level phone. Realme Narzo 10A sits in the middle: it is more affordable than Motorola Moto E7 Plus and inferior to the Moto E7 Plus, but it has better specifications than POCO C3.

Price and Availability

The Moto E7 Plus has been built completely in India and arrives at a price of just 9,499 INR (roughly 129 US Dollars). It will be available exclusively through Flipkart, which is a major e-retailer in the country and starts sale from 30th September 2020 from 12 pm onwards. In order to establish if it is really the most interesting entry-level phone out there, we think it is worth comparing with the other devices powered by the same chipset: the Motorola Moto E7 Plus and the OPPO A53.
Design

The most beautiful device of this trio is the OPPO A53. Just like the Realme C17 (and unlike the Motorola Moto E7 Plus which comes with a waterdrop notch), it sports an elegant punch-hole display. But it is more compact than the Realme C17, despite having the same display diagonal and the same battery capacity. This is the reason why we would go for the OPPO A53. But you should consider that the Realme C17 offers some kind of protection against water because it has weather-sealed ports and loudspeakers. The Motorola Moto E7 Plus is uglier and chunkier, so it loses the design comparison.

Display

With each of these devices, do not expect a great display quality. They are all equipped with IPS displays coming with a below-average HD+ resolution. The Realme C17 and the Oppo A53 are actually superior because they offer a 90 Hz refresh rate instead of the standard refresh rate of the Motorola Moto E7 Plus. Between Realme C17 and Oppo A53, the differences in terms of display quality are just marginal, so you should not focus so much on the display while making a choice between these two devices.

Specs & Software

As we told you in the intro of this comparison, all of these handsets are powered by the Snapdragon 460 which is the latest entry-level chipset by Qualcomm and the only one from the Snapdragon 4xx series launched this year. The Motorola Moto E7 Plus loses the comparison because of its eMMC native storage and just 4 GB of RAM. With the Realme C17 and the Oppo A53, you get up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage which you can furtherly expand with a micro SD. Realme C17 and Oppo A53 come with exactly the same hardware and very similar software, so it is essentially a draw.

Camera

If you are looking for the best photo quality, then you should go for the Motorola Moto E7 Plus. It sports the best main camera: a 48 MP sensor with a bright f/1.7 focal aperture. With the Motorola Moto E7 Plus, you can shoot better photos in most of the conditions. But it has just one secondary sensor for depth info. If you need more versatility, then you should go for the Realme C17 because it offers an ultrawide sensor (unlike Oppo A53 and Moto E7 Plus) and a dedicated macro camera, besides its depth sensor. The king of selfies is the Oppo A53 thanks to its 16 MP front camera.

Battery

All of these devices feature the same 5000 mAh battery capacity, but the Motorola Moto E7 Plus has a longer battery life because it does not feature a high refresh rate. On the other hand, it lacks fast charging, which is present on the Realme C17 and the Oppo A53.

Price

Realme C17, Oppo A53, and Motorola Moto E7 Plus are all sold with starting prices of about €150/$175 at the actual change. The Oppo A53 wins this comparison because it features a 90 Hz display, better memory configuration than Moto E7 Plus, stereo speakers, and a better selfie camera. But if you need a device closer to a camera phone, you should go for the Moto E7 Plus and its 48 MP main camera. Realme C17 is an Oppo A53 with an additional ultrawide sensor, inferior front camera, bigger dimensions, and no stereo speakers.

Moto E7 Plus Specifications

Although the microsite doesn’t reveal much about the device, we already know the entire specifications from the earlier launch in Europe and Brazil. The images show that the rear panel has a square-shaped cut-out for cameras and a fingerprint sensor beneath. Considering the price, it should have polycarbonate back but we will have to wait till Wednesday to know if Motorola makes any change for the Indian version. On the right side, there are three buttons – power, volume up/down, and a google assistant switch.

The device has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1600×720 pixels. There is a water-drop notch that houses an 8MP f/2.2 selfie shooter. Powering the device is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 460 SoC. Adreno 610 GPU handles the graphic duties. The square-shaped layout has a 48MP f/1.7 primary lens and a 2MP depth sensor.

The phone will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage along with microSD card expansion. Other features include 4G LTE, WiFi, 3.5mm audio jack, and Bluetooth. The Moto E7 Plus is backed up by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 10W charging via micro-USB port.

That said, the official pricing is not known yet. It must be noted that the device launched at EUR 149(~Rs.13,000). However, Motorola already has the Moto G9 with Snapdragon 662 at Rs.11,499 in India. Hence, we can expect Moto to price the Moto E7 Plus aggressively.

Design

The most attractive design belongs to the OPPO A53. First of all, it features a punch-hole display instead of a waterdrop notch, unlike Vivo Y20 and Motorola Moto E7 Plus. Further, it has slightly more compact dimensions, even though its display has the same size as its rivals. The OPPO A53 is even thinner than Motorola Moto E7 Plus and Vivo Y20. If we exclude the OPPO A53, Vivo Y20 has a more convincing look than Motorola Moto E7 Plus, at least according to my tastes.

Display

Unfortunately, these handsets do not feature amazing displays. Given that they are entry-level phones, in order to cut costs, the manufacturers opted for a below-average HD+ panel with the IPS technology. So, you do not get a very high level of detail. Such displays are sufficient for most of the basic users, but you can get better panels while keeping your budget low. The OPPO A53 wins the comparison because unlike Vivo Y20 and Motorola Moto E7 Plus it sports a 90 Hz refresh rate: a feature that you can only find in mid-rangers and flagships. Also, note that the OPPO A53 features stereo speakers for a better audio experience.

Specs & Software

In each case, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 460 chipset running at a 1.8 GHz frequency. That is why we made this comparison, as we explained in the intro. Again, the OPPO A53 wins the comparison because it features up to 6 GB of RAM, while Motorola Moto E7 Plus and Vivo Y20 offer just 4 GB of RAM. Naturally, you will have to spend more if you need the configuration with 6 GB of RAM. But the RAM is not the only superior component: the OPPO A53 packs a faster UFS 2.1 internal storage instead of eMMC, and it has more storage (128 GB) in its high-end configuration. In each case, you get Android 10 out of the box, but Motorola Moto E7 Plus is the only one with a user interface close to stock Android.

Camera

The king of cameras in this trio is the Motorola Moto E7 Plus. It features a lower number of sensors, but its main camera is a lot better than the ones found on the OPPO A53 and the Vivo Y20. We are talking about a 48 MP sensor with a bright f/1.7 aperture which provides a better photo quality. Unfortunately, the Motorola Moto E7 Plus lacks a dedicated macro sensor, but you can click better photos. The best front camera belongs to the OPPO A53 with a 16 MP resolution.

Battery

Vivo Y20, Motorola Moto E7 Plus, and OPPO A53 all feature a big 5000 mAh battery and they provide a long battery life. The Vivo Y20 and Motorola Moto E7 Plus should last more because they have a standard refresh rate instead of a 90 Hz display. Given that they feature similar components, it is hard to guess which one lasts more in every scenario.

Price

Unfortunately, these three devices are not present in the global market. In Asia, they all sell for less than €150/$178. The OPPO A53 wins the comparison thanks to its 90 Hz display, stereo speakers, UFS 2.1 storage, and better front camera. But if the photo quality is your main concern, then you should go for the Motorola E7 Plus packing a pretty nice 48 MP sensor instead of those 13 MP entry-level sensors found on OPPO A53 and Vivo Y20.

The phone was expected to launch today but Motorola skipped its announcement. Nevertheless, its specs and price have been published on the web.

The Moto E7 Plus has a 6.5-inch LCD display with a 1600 x 720 resolution and a waterdrop notch at the top for the selfie camera. Just as we have seen on a number of budget mid-range phones announced in the past few weeks, this also features a Snapdragon 460 processor according to the German blog, Winfuture, and it is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. If you need more storage, there is a MicroSD card slot available.

There are two cameras on the back of the Moto E7 Plus and they are housed in a square housing with rounded corners along with an LED flash that sits above the sensors. The primary camera is a 48MP sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and it is paired with a 2MP depth sensor. Up in front is an 8MP selfie camera with an f/2.2 aperture.

The Moto E7 Plus has a 5000mAh battery which is sort of the standard battery capacity for mid-range phones these days. Unfortunately, while you should get up to 2 days of usage, you will not be able to quickly top up the battery when you are running low as the phone only supports 10W charging. Another letdown is that it has a MicroUSB port.

The phone has its SIM tray on the left side and has support for Dual SIM. There is also an audio jack at the top of the phone. The Moto E7 Plus ships with Android 10 out of the box with Motorola’s My UX interface and Moto Actions.

The teaser released by the Lenovo-owned company suggests that the phone is built to deliver impressive performance and camera experience. The Motorola logo on the backside of the phone could be integrated with a fingerprint sensor.

The teased phone seems to resemble the leaked render of the Moto E7 Plus that appeared yesterday. Hence, it appears that the Lenovo-owned firm may launch the Moto E7 Plus on Aug. 24 in India. There is a possibility that the teased phone could be something else, and not Moto E7 Plus. Hence, it is advisable for newer teasers to know more about the mysterious phone.

Moto G9 Plus renders and key specifications

The Moto G9 Plus can be seen sporting a punch-hole display with a slightly thick chin. It flaunts a trendy rectangle-shaped camera module that houses three equal-sized camera lenses and a smaller camera with an elongated camera flash. As can be seen in the renders, the Moto G9 Plus has a 64-megapixel main camera. It is an upgrade as the predecessor Moto G8 Plus featured a 48-megapixel quad camera setup.

First, a publication had revealed the live shots of the devices and it then popped up in the Geekbench benchmarking platform. On scrutinizing the Geekbench listing, it was speculated that the Moto E7 Plus could be arriving with the Snapdragon 460. A new leak courtesy of reputed tipster Evan Blass has revealed the key specs of the phone. It also states that the phone is powered by SD460.

The Snapdragon 460 mobile platform was announced by Qualcomm alongside the Snapdragon 662 and Snapdragon 720G in January this year. Built for budget-friendly smartphones, the 11nm SD460 chipset has an octa-core processor with 1.8GHz base frequency and Adreno 610 graphics.

As can be seen in the leaked poster above, the SD460 SoC is accompanied by 4 GB of RAM. The handset will offer internal storage of 64 GB. It will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery. The rear shell of the phone will be equipped with a 48-megapixel dual-camera system with Night Vision support.

Editor’s Pick: Motorola to announce Moto RAZR 5G on September 9

The Moto E7 Plus will be arriving as the successor for the Moto E6 Plus phone that debuted in September last year. The leaked shot of the phone that appeared last month revealed that it has a waterdrop notch display. The rear-facing dual-camera setup of the phone is assisted by laser autofocus and LED flash. A fingerprint scanner is also available on the backside of the smartphone. The phone was also found to be equipped with a USB-C port, a speaker grille, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

There is no word on the launch date of the Moto E7 Plus. Considering that the predecessor went official in September 2019, it is likely that the E7 Plus may go official at some point in this month or in September.

Ahead of that, the Moto E7 has been certified by the FCC.

The FCC certification gives us a look at the rear design of the device as well as a few of its key specifications. The design includes a square-shaped module at the rear which has three openings. The openings are likely for three camera sensors or two sensors and an LED flash but we’ll go with three sensors considering the sizes of the openings. The device also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just below the camera module. The fingerprint scanner is embedded in the Moto logo dimple.

In terms of the specs, the FCC listing only reveals the Moto E7 will pack a 5,000 mAh battery. Earlier on, the device had been certified by TUV Rheinland showing the presence of a 10W charger inside the box.

In a related development, the Moto E7 has been listed by a Spanish retailer clutching a retail price of €148.07. Although the model is listed as Out of Stock, the listing could be a pointer to the price in Europe.

Back in July, the vanilla E7 was listed by a Canadian carrier giving us a clue of the specs of the device. The E7 is expected to feature a waterdrop notch on the front. The device will pack a 6.2-inch display with HD+ resolution of 720×1520 pixels. It will likely be powered by either a Snapdragon 460 or SD 632 chipset. The phone will also be available in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage option but the base model could have 2GB of RAM and 32GB storage. The Canadian retailer’s listing shows the device will pack a 3,550 mAh battery which conflicts with this one. So there is a possibility that this model could emerge as E7 Power which is consistent with the company’s branding style.

The Moto E7 Plus is one of the expected devices and it might be one of the first phones to be powered by the Snapdragon 460 that was announced at the beginning of the year.

The device was seen on Geekbench on Monday with an unknown chipset dubbed “guam”. There are speculations that the chipset may be the Snapdragon 662 that was announced in January but it is the Snapdragon 460 mobile platform.

According to the folks at DealnTech the developer codes of the motherboard which has the CPU core and GPU configuration shows the processor has four of its cores clocked at 1.61GHz and the other four clocked at 1.80GHz. This is the CPU configuration for the Snapdragon 460 and not the Snapdragon 662. The latter has a different CPU configuration with a clockspeed of 2.0GHz. However, both chipsets have the same Adreno 610 GPU.

The Moto E7 Plus will have a waterdrop notch, dual rear cameras, a USB-C port, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It will run Android 10 out of the box, most likely with Motorola’s new My UX interface. Geekbench has also revealed the phone will have 4GB of RAM but we expect there will be other configurations too.

The leak did not reveal any information on the specs of the device. The live images of the phone only revealed its design from different angles. Today, the Moto E7 Plus appeared on Geekbench to reveal some of its key specs.

Spotted first by Nashville Chatter Class, the Geekbench listing reveals that the Moto E7 Plus is equipped with 4 GB of RAM. The handset is loaded with Android 10 OS. However, the name of the processor is not mentioned on the Geekbench listing.

The listing reveals that the E7 Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core processor that has a base frequency of 1.8GHz. The listing seems to have “guam” codename of the processor mentioned in the listing. The handset recorded 1152 and 4373 respectively in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench.

Editor’s Pick: Realme V5 5G with 90Hz display, Dimensity 720, 48MP quad cameras, and 5,000mAh battery debuts for 1,399 Yuan (~$200)

The “guam” codename was previously seen in the Geekbench listing of the forthcoming Moto G9 Play phone. It is speculated that the codenamed could be associated with the Snapdragon 662 mid-range SoC. It is advisable to wait and see whether the guam processor that fuels the Moto G9 Play and Moto E7 Plus is the Snapdragon 662 or some other chipset.

The leaked shots of the Moto E7 Plus that appeared last month revealed that it has a waterdrop notch screen. Its rearview revealed a fingerprint scanner and a vertical camera setup that included two cameras, a laser autofocus unit, and an LED flash. It could be backed by a beefy battery and it has a speaker grille, a USB-C port, and a microphone in its bottom edge.

There is no word on the launch date of the Moto E7 Plus. Considering that the predecessor Moto E6 Plus debuted in September last year, it is likely that the Moto E7 Plus may debut next month.
