Motorola has slowly been updating more and more of its eligible devices to the latest Android 12-based OS. Earlier this week, the Moto G200 5G was treated with the Android 12 update, and now, the company has started releasing the Android 12 update for the Moto G50.

To clarify, the device receiving this update is the Snapdragon 480-powered Moto G50 and not the Moto G50 5G which comes with the Dimensity 700 SoC. According to an XDAdevelopers report, the update arrives with the build number S1RF32.27-25 and is currently available for the XT2137-1-DS model in the UK. As of yet, the update has not made its way to other regions, but it’s only a matter of time before it does.

Although Motorola’s software update page says that the Android 12 update for the Moto G50 is not live yet, the stable build is already available through the company’s Rescue and Smart Assistant Tool. So UK users can expect the Android 12-based MY UX build to arrive soon to their devices via OTA. Users can also grab the latest update right now using the Rescue tool and flash it manually using a PC. But if you are not well versed in flashing operating systems on Androids, then we won’t recommend you go the manual way.

The Android 12-based My UX update will bring new features like the Material You theming engine, a revamped notification panel, a privacy dashboard, camera and mic “in use” indicators, and more. Design

If you look at the camera module, you can immediately realize that the POCO M3 Pro 5G has the most original design of the trio. The Vivo Y52 5G is a bit more elegant and sober, but with bigger dimensions. With the Motorola Moto G50, you get a water-repellent design which is very useful if you want to use your phone in the rain. Display

The most advanced display belongs to the POCO M3 Pro 5G. It is a 6.5-inch panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. It also offers the Gorilla Glass 3 protection by Corning. With the Vivo Y52 5G, you get a display with a Full HD+ resolution as well, but it lacks a high refresh rate. The Motorola Moto G50 has an inferior HD+ display, but it has a 90 Hz refresh rate. You should have understood the reason why POCO M3 Pro 5G is the best.

Hardware/Software

POCO M3 Pro 5G and Vivo Y52 5G are more powerful than the Motorola Moto G50 because they pack a Dimensity 700 processor built at 7 nm with better performance than Snapdragon 480 and even lower energy consumption. Between POCO M3 Pro 5G and Vivo Y52 5G, the former is the winner because it offers up to 6 GB of RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage. Each of these phones runs Android 11 out of the box despite they are entry-level devices.

Camera

The best cameras are found on the Motorola Moto G50. It has a triple camera including a 48 MP main sensor with a brighter f/1.7 focal aperture, a 2 MP depth sensor, and a superior macro camera with a 5 MP resolution. The Motorola Moto G50 even provides a better front camera with a 13 MP resolution. Both POCO M3 Pro 5G and Vivo Y52 5G pack a triple camera with a 48 MP main sensor, a 2 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor, as well as an 8 MP front camera.

Battery

POCO M3 Pro 5G, Vivo Y52 5G, and Motorola Moto G50 have a similar battery life because they come with the same battery capacity: 5000 mAh. But the Motorola Moto G50 should last a bit more because its display has a lower resolution.

The Moto G 5G has a more beautiful design than the Moto G50 5G. Despite it is actually an older handset, it looks more modern thanks to its punch-hole display. Further, I like its square-shaped camera module. On the other hand, the Moto G50 5G has a more compact body, and, unlike the Moto G 5G, it has a water repellent design. Both the phones feature a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, they are made of polycarbonate and they are pretty thick and heavy due to their bigger batteries.

Display

The display of the Motorola Moto G 5G is actually superior to the Moto G50 5G. It has a higher Full HD+ resolution, so it is able to provide a higher level of definition. Further, the HDR10 certification should give you a better image quality on streaming platforms. With the Motorola Moto G50 5G you get a 90 Hz refresh rate, but unfortunately, the display has a lower HD+ resolution. The Moto G 5G also comes with a wider panel: the diagonal is 6.7 inches with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Both the phones have IPS panels, so do not expect an OLED-like quality.

If you need the most powerful device, go for the Motorola Moto G 5G without thinking twice. It is powered by the Snapdragon 750G mobile platform that is an upper-midrange 5G processor. The SoC is paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage. With the Moto G50, you get an entry-level Snapdragon 480 5G mobile platform paired with 4 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage. Motorola Moto G 5G ships with Android 10 out of the box, while Moto G50 5G ships with Android 11: this means you will most likely get longer software support with the Moto G50 5G.

Camera

The Motorola Moto G 5G and the Moto G50 5G pack the same 48 MP main camera with an f/1.7 focal aperture. But the Motorola Moto G 5G is a better camera phone because it has an 8 MP ultrawide lens besides its 2 MP macro camera. The Motorola Moto G 5G is actually available in the global market with street prices of about €200/$242. Actually, you have to spend more than €200 to grab a unit of the Moto G50 5G as it has been launched recently with a listing price of €279/$338. The Moto G 5G has better specifications, including a Full HD+ HDR10 display, an ultrawide camera, and a better chipset paired with more RAM in the most expensive configuration. That is why Moto G 5G wins the value for money comparison. The only real disadvantage of the Moto G 5G is the fact that it ships with Android 10 out of the box as it is a phone released in 2020.

In the last months, Motorola launched a huge amount of devices from the G series ranging from the entry-level segment to the flagship one. The handsets go from the affordable Moto G10 up to the powerful Moto G100 with several handsets in the middle. This comparison regards exactly these devices in the middle. Given that a lot of devices might make confusion in those who do not know the smartphone market very well, we decided to compare the specifications of the Motorola Moto G20, the Moto G30, and the Moto G50 in order to tell you what changes between each model.

Motorola Moto G20 vs Motorola Moto G30 vs Motorola Moto G50

Design

Despite you can recognize each other if you have seen them before, Motorola Moto G20, Moto G30, and Moto G50 are not so different when it comes to design. They are all built with a plastic back and a plastic frame and they have a water repellent design. In each case, you get a punch-hole display with not so narrow bezels and a rectangle-shaped camera module, as well as a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. I like the Motorola Moto G50 more due to its reflective color variants, but it is a matter of taste.

Display

The Motorola Moto G20, the Moto G30, and the Moto G50 have exactly the same display. It is an IPS panel with a diagonal of 6.5 inches, an HD+ resolution (720 x 1600p), and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It is not a great panel given the below-average resolution it provides, but the high refresh rate makes the viewing experience smooth and satisfying. However, do not expect an accurate image quality. If you need so, just do not choose any of these devices.

Hardware/Software

The most powerful hardware belongs to the Moto G30: the Moto G50 actually comes with a stronger chipset (the Snapdragon 480), but if you choose the most expensive configuration of the Moto G30 you can get more RAM. So we have the Snapdragon 662 (which is only slightly weaker than the Snapdragon 480) paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Moto G50 supports 5G, while the Moto G30 does not. The Moto G20 is inferior as it has a Unisoc T700 chipset instead of those Snapdragon ones. Moto G20, G30, and G50 run Android 11 out of the box.

Camera

If you need the most advanced cameras, you should opt for the Moto G30 again. It has a better 64 MP main camera with an f/1.7 focal aperture, as well as an 8 MP ultrawide sensor and a pair of 2 MP cameras for macros and depth calculation. The Moto G20 has the same secondary sensors, but the main camera is an inferior 48 MP snapper. You get the same 48 MP camera with the Moto G50 and even a better 5 MP macro camera but, unfortunately, it lacks an ultrawide camera, so it is even worse than the Moto G20.

Battery

Motorola equipped the Moto G20, the Moto G30, and the Moto G50 with the same 5000 mAh battery providing a great battery life thanks to the efficient components. If you do not use 5G, you should get a longer battery life with the Moto G50 because the chipset is built at 8 nm. The Moto G30, instead, provides faster charging speeds with its 20W fast charging.

Motorola Moto G20 vs Motorola Moto G30 vs Motorola Moto G50: Price

In the global market, Motorola Moto G20 is priced at €169/$205 in its base variant, Moto G30 carries a €239/$290 price tag and Moto G50 costs €279/$335 (prices vary depending on the regions). If we exclude 5G, the Moto G30 is the best one with its great cameras, faster charging speeds, good chipset, and up to 6 GB of RAM. But the Moto G50 has a faster chipset with 5G which makes the price go higher.

Last month, Lenovo-owned Motorola had launched the Moto G50 budget 5G smartphone in the European market. Now, the same smartphone has been launched in China, where it comes in a single variant that packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

It is priced at 1,499 yuan which roughly converts to $231. The device can be purchased through Lenovo‘s official website, JD.com, and Tmall.com.

The Moto G50 smartphone features a 6.5-inch Max Vision HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. This display has a resolution of 1600×720 pixels, 90Hz refresh rate, 269 PPI, 20:9 aspect ratio, and 85 percent screen-body ratio.

Under the hood, the device has Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. The chipset is paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Apart from this, there’s also a microSD card slot allowing users to further expand the storage up to 1TB.

In the camera department, there’s a triple-camera setup on the back with a 48-megapixel  f/1.7 main lens, a 5-megapixel f/2.4 macro lens, and a 2-megapixel f/2.4 depth sensor. Upfront, it comes with a 13-megapixel f/2.2 selfie shooter. Camera features on the device include HDR, Timer, Active photos, Pro mode, Portrait mode, Timelapse video, Hyperlapse video, and more.

Other features include a rear fingerprint sensor, face unlocking, a 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GNSS (GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo), and 4G LTE (Hybrid SIM slot).

The phone runs the latest Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box with an almost stock-like user interface. The device is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging support but it comes with a 10W charger in the box.

POCO has a new flagship killer and a mid-range killer too

POCO announced two new phones last week that marked its return to its roots of making unbeatable value-for-money smartphones. After years of waiting for a true POCO F1 successor, the new POCO F3 (actually a rebadged Redmi K40) arrived as the brand’s latest flagship killer. But it didn’t come alone. POCO also announced the POCO X3 Pro, a mid-range phone with a Snapdragon 800-series processor. Yes, the new Snapdragon 860 (the snapdragon 855+ in a new skin) is a chipset made for mid-range phones and it arrived first in this new phone. Black Shark 4 Series – speed is matters

China’s Black Shark announced two new gaming smartphones last week – the Black Shark 4 and the Black Shark 4 Pro. Powered by the Snapdragon 870 and Snapdragon 888 processors respectively, these two gaming beasts pack more than just powerful chipsets. They also charge super-fast, supporting 120W fast wired charging; have incredibly fast storage (SSD on the pro model), and are stunning too.

Three new OnePlus 9 phones and a smartwatch

After months of leaks, the OnePlus 9 series finally launched last week. The OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro bring revamped cameras, powerful chipsets, top-of-the-line displays, and fast wired and wireless charging. They also brought along a sibling called the OnePlus 9R and the OnePlus Watch.

Moto G100 and Moto G50

Motorola’s first Snapdragon 800-series powered Moto G phone launched too. The Moto G100 has a Snapdragon 870 processor inside it, six cameras in total, and some software features, one of which allows you to use the phone as a desktop computer when hooked up to a monitor and paired to a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. It didn’t come alone either. The Moto G50, a budget 5G phone, also tagged along.

Honor’s new products – a phone and tablet for China and a fitness tracker for global markets

The Honor V40 Light Luxury Edition and the Honor Pad 7 tablet were announced in China. The former has a curved 90Hz OLED display, a 5G processor, 64MP quad rear cameras, and 66W fast charging. The Honor Pad 7 is an Helio P22T-powered 10-inch device targeted at students. It comes in LTE and Wi-Fi-only variants. The Honor Band 6 also got a global launch last week, three months after it was announced in China.

HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer resigns; Xiaomi loses CFO to ByteDance

Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global and the face of Nokia Mobile since the brand made a comeback, announced he is leaving after 15 years of service. Xiaomi, on the other hand, has lost its CFO, Shou Zi Chew, to ByteDance, the company behind the viral app, TikTok.

The Moto G50 was one of the two Motorola phones announced today. Motorola says that the phone will go on sale next month with a starting price of €249.99. Right now, Motorola is running a promo on its phones, and the offer on the Moto G 5G makes it a better buy than the Moto G50.

The Moto G 5G was announced last November as a more affordable version of the Moto G 5G Plus. It had a starting price of €299.99 for the 4+64GB version while the 6+128GB version had a launch price of €349.99. Motorola is currently running a limited-time sales promotion that brings the price of the base model down to €249 in Spain. This is the same price the 4+64GB version of the newly launched Moto G50 will sell for when it goes on sale on April 15, and if you ask us, the Moto G 5G seems to be the better deal.

The Moto G 5G may not have a high refresh rate but it has an FHD+ display which is better than the HD+ screen of the Moto G50. It also has a more powerful processor.

Another area where it is better than the Moto G50 is the camera department. Both phones have the same primary camera but you will agree that an ultrawide angle camera is more useful than a macro camera which the Moto G 5G also has.

Both the Moto G 5G and the Moto G50 have a 5000mAh battery but the former supports a faster charging technology and comes with the maximum supported charger. The Moto G50 supports a slower 15W fast charging and comes with an even slower 10W charger. This means that if you want to charge your phone at the maximum supported rating, you will have to purchase a new charger.

The only downside for the Moto G 5G is that it runs Android 10. Motorola has confirmed that it will be updated to Android 11 but we don’t know when it will begin to roll out.

Earlier today, the upcoming Motorola Moto G50 was spotted on China’s TENAA certification authority. Now, it’s renders have been leaked by dealntech in two colors and it matches with the TENAA listing’s images.

As per the renders shared by the report, we see triple cameras on the back of the Motorola device. Besides, the camera sensors, and beneath the LED flash, we can see the “48MP Quad-Pixel” written. There is also fingerprint sensor on the rear panel that has a Moto logo etched inside.

Upfront, there is a display with a waterdrop notch to host a selfie sensor. Speaking of which, the Moto G50 is said to feature an HD+ display with a teardrop notch and a 90Hz refresh rate. Moving on, the renders show that the device has 3.5mm jack, Type-C port, Speakers at the bottom.

The optics themselves aren’t going to be that attractive like the Reno series as it is said to come with a 48MP main lens, 5MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. Upfront, it could have a 13MP selfie shooter.

Other expected specs of the Moto G50 are HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate, Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging, and run Android 11 OS.

Finally, the device will probably measure 164.95 x 74.93 x 8.95mm and come in two colors- Gray and Blue.

Motorola might retail the device for  €229 for the 4GB+128GB variant. Apart from launching in Europe and China, the device is also said to debut in India as a budget 5G smartphone.

Lenovo-owned Motorola is gearing up to launch a new smartphone in the market, dubbed Moto G50. The device has already passed through 3C certification and was recently listed on a Spanish reseller’s website.

Ahead of the phone’s official launch, the upcoming Moto G50 has been spotted on TENAA with a model number XT2137-2, revealing some key details about the phone.

It reveals that the upcoming 5G smartphone measures 164.95 x 74.93 x 8.95mm. The device is likely to come with an HD+ display having a waterdrop notch on top of the screen. The listing also reveals that the phone will be running the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box.

Earlier, it was reported that the smartphone may feature a triple-camera setup on the back, consisting of a 48-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front side, there will be a 13-megapixel snapper for taking selfies.

So far, it is not known which chipset will power the device but it’s likely that the phone may come in two memory variants — 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM along with 128GB of internal storage. It will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery and likely have 10W charging support.

There is a possibility that the Moto G50 smartphone may get launched in the Chinese market under the Lenovo Lemon series. The phone is expected to go official in Europe for a price of 226 Euros. To know for sure, we will have to wait for the company to launch the smartphone officially.

Motorola is going ahead with a new naming scheme for its upcoming devices. The company has already started teasing the G100 flagship and is expected to bring another mid-ranger G50 after G10 and G30. Now, a Spanish retailer has listed the price of the Moto G50 on its website.

As per the website paratupc.es, a Motorola Moto G50 XT2137-1 ES is listed on the website. This model number also matches with a device having ‘Ibiza’ codename that was later tipped as the Moto G50. Anyway, the price for the 4GB + 128GB variant quoted on the website is around €229 which matches the TechnikNews report.

To recall, the Moto G10 and G30 launched in Europe with a starting price of €150 and €180 respectively. Hence, it makes sense that Motorola is bringing the G50, which has better specs, at a higher price.

Speaking of which, the specifications that are known so far suggest that the device will launch with 5G connectivity support. Whether or not it has the budget Snapdragon 480 5G chipset or the mid-range Snapdragon 750G, it looks like a solid offering around the €200 bracket at least in Europe.

A recent report by German publication TechnikNews revealed that the Motorola phone with XT2137 model number and Ibiza codename will be arriving in the market as the Moto G50. The Chinese variant of the handset that has a model number of XT2137-2 appeared at the 3C certification platform today, which indicates it could be landing in China soon.

The Moto G50’s 3C certification shows that it is a 5G smartphone and it may ship with a 10W charger. There is a possibility that this device may land in China with as Lenovo’s Lemon series handset. It could be Motorola/Lenovo’s cheapest 5G phone as it is expected to feature Snapdragon 480 5G chipset. The XT2137-2 smartphone is yet to appear in TENAA’s database.

Moto G50 specifications (Rumored)

The Moto G50 is expected to feature a teardrop notch display that will offer an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The handset is expected to arrive with 4 GB / 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of built-in storage. It will come preinstalled with Android 11 OS.

Motorola Moto G50

The publication had previously revealed the specs of a Motorola phone with “Ibiza” codename. Fresh information shared by the publication reveals that the Ibiza handset will break cover as the Moto G50 in Europe. It speculates that the G50 may come with a price tag of 229 euros (~$276).

To recollect, the Moto G50 (XT2137 model number) has an HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate, a 5,000mAh battery, 4 GB of RAM, 128 G of storage, Android 11 OS, a 13-megapixel front camera, and a 48-megapixel + 2-megapixel (depth) dual-camera system. It is said to be fueled by the Snapdragon 480 5G chipset and it is also rumored to arrive in India.

Motorola Hanoip

The Motorola Hanoip (XT2135-1/2 model number) has a 32-megapixel front-facing snapper. It could be accompanied by a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens. The rear camera system of the phone could be featuring a 108-megapixel HM2 lens by Samsung, a 16-megapixel camera, an 8-megapixel lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The device may come in variants like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. The Snapdragon 732G could be powering the Motorola Hanoip. It may come in colors like Iceberg, Terracotta, and Sangria.

The publication claimed that it had come across another smartphone with a Hanoi codename. However, it now appears that it has been canceled.

Moto G100

In January, Motorola announced the Snapdragon 870 SoC powered Motorola Edge S smartphone with a starting price of 1,999 Yuan (~$276). The same phone will be heading to Europe as the Moto G100 and it could be available in variants like 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. It may come in two colors like Sky Blue and Violet.
