Motorola is clearly stepping up its software game. Just a day ago, it began the Android 17 beta program ahead of its competitors, and now, the beta program has just gone live for a new set of smartphones.

The Motorola Edge 2025, Moto G57, and Moto G57 Power were the first phones to join the Android 17 beta program. Now, it’s expanding to Moto G86, Moto G86 Power, Motorola Edge 60, Edge 60 Fusion, Edge 70, and Edge 70 Fusion in multiple regions.

If you have any of these Motorola smartphones and live in a supported region, you can sign up for the Android 17 beta program to get early access to the latest features and upgrades. However, that also means you’re ready to face bugs or broken features that may appear in beta builds.

Here’s how to sign up for Motorola’s Android 17 beta program

1. Create an account on Motorola’s community website (if you haven’t already).
2. Visit the profile page and update your IMEI or serial number (SN) details.
3. Opt in for MFN on your Motorola community profile.
4. Always ensure that your phone is running the latest software.
5. Go to the MFN Beta Testing Opportunities page to see a testing opportunity for your Motorola device.
6. Tap on the registration link for your Motorola phone.
7. Fill in the required details and submit your application.

Please keep in mind that Motorola may send emails regarding your beta application. So, remember to check your inbox regularly, including the spam folder.

Once your beta application is approved, you’ll receive an OTA update. It’s best to manually check for updates once in a while by navigating to Settings > System updates > Check for updates.

While the Android 17 beta program has gone live for several Motorola phones, the update rollout is yet to begin. Once that happens, we’ll learn about the new features and changes. The Android 16 update is gradually expanding to budget Moto G series smartphones, with the latest being the Moto G86. Its sibling, the Moto G86 Power, received the latest software last month, and now the update is out for the vanilla model as well.

Motorola confirmed the Android 16 rollout for the Moto G86 via its support pages, as spotted by Ytechb. As the update has just started rolling out, its availability is currently limited to select regions, primarily European countries. However, it should also expand to other regions pretty soon.

The latest update for the Moto G86 is tagged with the firmware version W1VN36H.60-30. It’s the same firmware version as for the Moto G86 Power, and has a download size of about 1.33GB. The update also brings the October 2025 security patch, alongside the changes as part of Android 16.

If you have a Moto G86, navigate to Settings > System updates > Check for updates to check if the update is ready for your device. If it doesn’t appear, please check back in a few days, as the rollout will expand in stages.

Android 16 is the first major Android OS upgrade for the Moto G86, as it was launched a few months ago with Android 15. The smartphone will receive at least one more Android upgrade before it runs out of OS updates. However, it will continue to receive security updates for at least three more years.

Additionally, you can adjust the volume of ambient sound captured by the hearing aid’s microphones. These options help enhance call clarity, especially in noisy environments or when your hearing aid’s battery is running low.

Motorola has introduced two new mid-range 5G smartphones, the Moto G86 5G and the Moto G86 Power 5G. Both phones focus on strong battery life, solid performance, and advanced display features.

The Moto G86 Power 5G packs a large 6720mAh battery, the biggest in the series, with support for 30W TurboPower charging. The regular Moto G86 5G features a 5200mAh battery and promises up to 41 hours of usage on a single charge.

Both models are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 processor and run on Android 15. The G86 5G comes with 8GB of RAM, expandable up to 24GB using virtual memory. The G86 Power 5G offers 512GB of uMCP storage, double the standard G86 5G’s 256GB.

The phones share the same 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2712 x 1220, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 10-bit color, HDR10+ support, and a peak brightness of 4500 nits. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i, and both devices are IP68/IP69 rated with MIL-STD 810H certification.

On the camera front, both models include a 32MP front camera that supports 4K video. The G86 Power 5G’s rear camera setup includes a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 sensor with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide + macro camera. AI features such as Auto Night Vision, Gesture Capture, and Pro Mode are included.

Additional features include dual stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, an on-screen fingerprint sensor, dual SIM support (physical SIM + eSIM), Wi-Fi 6, NFC, and Motorola’s ThinkShield security platform.

The G86 Power 5G weighs 198g, while the G86 5G weighs 185g. Both come with vegan leather backs and include protective cases in the box.

Pricing and availability

The Moto G86 5G with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage is priced at £280.00/€299. The Moto G86 Power 5G with 512GB storage is priced at £299.99/€329. Both are available in Chrysanthemum (red), Cypress (olive green), Spellbound (dark blue), and Cosmic Sky (lavender). Launch details for other regions are yet to be confirmed.

In a new development, the alleged S60 Neo bearing the XT2527-3 model number has bagged TENAA certification in China. Here’s a look at the details that have emerged through the certification.

Motorola S60 Neo / Moto G86 specifications (rumored)

As per the TENAA listing, the alleged Motorola S60 Neo will feature a 6.67-inch OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution (1220 x 2712 pixels). Under the hood, it features a 2.5GHz octa-core chip, which according to other reports is the Dimensity 7300 chipset. The images of the phone haven’t appeared yet in TENAA’s database. What’s shown above is one of the recently leaked images of the Moto G86.

In China, the S60 Neo will be available with 8GB / 10GB / 12GB / 16GB of RAM and 128GB / 256GB / 512GB / 1TB of storage. For additional storage, it features a microSD card slot. The rated value of the S60 Neo’s battery is 6,520mAh. Likely, its typical value could be 6,720mAh and may support 33W fast charging.

The Motorola S60 Neo is equipped with a 50-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual-camera system. For selfies, it has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera. The S60 Neo is equipped with an under-display fingerprint scanner. The device measures 161.21 x 74.74 x 8.65mm and weighs 192 grams.

As per other reports, the S60 Neo may come with dual speakers powered by Dolby Atmos. It is also said to feature an IP68/69 and MIL-STD-810H rated body. In some markets, the device may pack a 5,200mAh battery.

Motorola is shifting its focus to its budget-friendly Moto G lineup, right after the unveiling the Edge 60 and Razr 60 series. Excitement was already building up for the Moto G86, a step up from the Moto G85, with its leaked design hinting at a June 2025 debut. But a new leak from X user @evleaks dropped a bombshell: the Moto G96 is also in the works, poised to be the top dog in the G-series.

No specs or design details have surfaced for the G96, leaving fans guessing about its camera, display, or chip—maybe a MediaTek Dimensity 7300 like the Edge 60. Its name suggests it’s a cut above the G86, which might sport a 6.7-inch 120Hz AMOLED and 50MP main camera. Sadly, US fans might miss out, as the Moto G number series hasn’t launched stateside since the Moto G100 in 2021.

To recall, the Moto G85 features a 6.67-inch FHD+ P-OLED display with curved Gorilla Glass 5 protection, a 50MP + 8MP dual rear camera setup, and a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chip. It’s backed by a 5000mAh battery with 30W wired charging.

Motorola’s rapid-fire releases keep the G-series fresh, but the G96’s timing is murky—possibly late 2025 or early 2026. According to rumors, this phone could rival the Poco X7, which is currently priced at ₹19,499 on Amazon. Nonetheless, it’s all hype and rumors for now. The successor to the Moto G85, launched back in June 2024, should be just around the corner. While Motorola has remained quiet about the G86’s development, Dutch publisher Nieuwe Mobiel has revealed detailed renders of the phone — giving us a first look at the updated design.

First off, the Moto G86 renders reveal a flat design — a shift from the curved middle frame and display of its predecessor. The bezel thickness appears largely unchanged, while the flat frame retains the same button placement as before.

Camera island resembles more expensive Edge 60 series

Moving to the back, the camera island appears wider, resembling the more premium Moto Edge 60 and Edge 60 Fusion — with a similarly arranged lens layout. The back material appears to be made of soft vegan leather, which both looks and feels premium — a definite plus for a mid-range device.

In addition to the secondary microphone hole on top and the SIM-ejector slot on the left, the renders reveal another hole below the power button — a detail that wasn’t a part of the G85.

To recall, the predecessor featured a 50MP 1/1.95″ main sensor, paired with an 8MP ultrawide camera and a 32MP selfie shooter. It was powered by a 5,000mAh battery and the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. On the front, it had a 6.67-inch FHD+ display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Motorola launched the phone with Android 14, with a promise of two years of Android OS updates and three years of security patches. Motorola delivered on that promise, with the G85 receiving its first OS update ahead of all Galaxy flagships from last year.

The Moto Edge 50 series attracted quite a lot of attention from mid-range buyers with its impressive design, improved imaging capabilities, and clean UI. Now, the successors, along with the Moto G56 and G86, enter the conversation. For context, the Edge 50 Pro was released back in early April last year, followed by the Edge 50 Fusion and standard Edge 50, which launched in early May and August, respectively.

Moto G56 and G86 color options, European pricing

Starting with the Moto G series, the Moto G56 is expected to launch in Black, Blue, and Dill (Light Green) colors. According to the source, the 8GB + 256GB version will be priced at 250 euros (approximately Rs 23,675).

The Moto G86, on the other hand, will come in Golden, Cosmic (Light Purple), Red, and Spellbound (Blue) colors. The 8GB + 256GB configuration of this model will be priced at 330 euros (approximately Rs 31,251). These devices are set to succeed the Moto G55 and Moto G85, with the latter being the only model previously launched in India.

Moto Edge 60 series color options, European pricing

Moving to the premium Edge 60 series, a total of three models were mentioned by the source: the Edge 60, Edge 60 Fusion, and Edge 60 Pro. The Edge 60 Fusion will be available in Blue and Grey, the 8GB + 256GB configuration of which will be priced at 350 euros.

The standard Edge 60 will launch in Sea (Blue) and Green colors, with the same memory configuration, priced at 380 euros (approximately Rs 35,987). The Edge 60 Pro, the most expensive among all models mentioned in this article, will reportedly cost 600 euros (approximately Rs 56,821) and come in Blue, Green, and Grape (Purple) colors.

The Pro model was previously spotted in multiple certification platforms, which revealed a 5,100mAh battery and 68W fast charging support. This marks a significant upgrade in terms of battery capacity over the Edge 50 Pro, which packs a 4,500 mAh cell.
