But now, a new patent reveals that the company might be working on taking the flip phone evolution a step further.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-441981 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842.png?x44794" alt="Motorola" width="897" height="501" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842.png 897w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842-768x429.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842-696x389.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185842-752x420.png 752w" sizes="(max-width: 897px) 100vw, 897px" /></p>
<p>The new patent was spotted on WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) a couple of weeks ago and was spotted by <a href="https://www.phonearena.com/news/motorola-flip-phone-patent_id138300" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>PhoneArena</em></a>. Looking at this patent, the foldable flip phone will have its display bend outwards rather than inward, which is the opposite of the typical clamshell design. In other words, this is a fresh new take in the flip phone category, with both the front and rear sides being covered by the display when folded.</p>
<p>Since its a foldable phone, the device features a flexible screen that can bend backwards from its hinge in the middle. Interestingly, Motorola is only offering a single camera module that is mounted on the upper half of the rear panel. This camera module is raised and will likely act as both the primary and front facing camera since one can just turn the smartphone around and use the folded display on the back to take a selfie.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-441982 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856.png?x44794" alt="Motorola" width="892" height="594" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856.png 892w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856-768x511.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856-696x463.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Screenshot-2022-02-07-185856-631x420.png 631w" sizes="(max-width: 892px) 100vw, 892px" /></p>
<p>Keep in mind that this is still just a patent and we have no way of confirming if the American smartphone maker is actually working on such a device. However, with the the launch of the Moto Razr 2019, it is clear that the company is integrating its classic designs with cutting edge technology. So it wouldn&#8217;t arrive as a surprise if the next gen Razr features this display.</p>

<p>Nonetheless, according to a fresh report published by Cnet, the foldable Moto Razr is well alive and it will hit the shelves before 2019 ends. Even though the actual reason behind its delay is unknown, we believe it could have been influenced by the woes faced by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-fold-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung Galaxy Fold</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-x/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Mate X</a>.</p>

<p>While not many details about the upcoming foldable phone from Motorola are currently available, it is expected to have a clamshell design which was seen with the original Motorola Razr that debuted over a decade ago. It is most likely that the 2019 Moto Razr will not have a physical keypad, instead, it will incorporate a foldable touchscreen display.<img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-250345" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola RAZR (2019)" width="750" height="412" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1-300x165.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1-696x382.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>Based upon the leaked renders which were previously mentioned, the foldable Moto Razr will have dual displays. Out of which, the main large screen display will be on the inside, while the second display will be a smaller panel located on the cover aka the flip.</p>
<p>Homogenous to other offerings from Motorola, the 2019 Moto Razr is destined to run the Android operating system which will be optimised to work efficiently on its unique form factor. <img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-250341" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1024x543.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola RAZR (2019)" width="696" height="369" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1024x543.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-768x407.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-696x369.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-1068x566.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c-792x420.jpg 792w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Motorola-RAZR-2019-c.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Noteworthy, based upon leaks and previously granted patents, Motorola does not intend to make a smartphone and tablet hybrid like the Galaxy Fold and Mate X. Instead, it seems to envision the foldable Razr as a highly compact device which could replace conventional smartphones that have gotten massive in size over the last couple of years.</p>
<p>To sum things up, the launch of the reincarnated Moto Razr seems to be nearing fast. However, we will have to wait patiently until the company releases an official statement.</p>

<p>The Moto RAZR 2019 is speculated to be powered by the Snapdragon 710 SoC that includes an octa-core processor that works at 2.2 GHz and Adreno 616 graphics. The smartphone is expected to arrive in two variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is expected to arrive with a 2,730mAh battery that may carry support for 27W TurboPower charging. There is no information on the cameras of the Motorola RAZR foldable smartphone.</p>
<p>As recent reports have revealed that it will be a clamshell phone. Opening it will reveal its elongated foldable display with a hinge placed underneath.
