Back in July, Motorola launched the Razr 40 Ultra smartphone in the Indian market. At launch, the device was available in only two color options: Viva Magenta and Infinite Black. The brand has now added a new color option to the mix called Glacier Blue. In addition to that, the phone is currently selling at a massive discount on Amazon India. Additionally, it comes with a 3.6-inch cover display. The secondary display boasts a 144Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 7 protection. The phone’s hinge design allows it to fold flat seamlessly.

In the camera department, it includes a 12MP OIS-enabled main sensor, a 13MP ultra-wide and macro lens at the rear, and a 32MP front-facing shooter. Powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC, the device offers up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of onboard storage.

Foldable smartphones are still a niche category in the market and many still worry about their overall durability. However, it seems like the latest Razr 40 Ultra from Motorola is surprisingly stronger than it looks.

Moto Razr 40 Ultra Durability Test: Does it Survive?

In the latest JerryRigEverything video, the company’s flagship foldable smartphone was put through a number of grueling tests. This included the scratch test, burn test, and even the bend test. Starting off with the scratch test, we see that the Moto Razr 40 Ultra screen started showing visual signs of scratches quite easily even at levels 2 and 3. However, the outer panel did a much better job, lasting till round 7.

In the burn test, the outer panel again outlasted the primary flexible screen by surviving till 20 seconds. Meanwhile, the inner screen lasted just 6 seconds. During the scratch test, the device had its power and volume buttons scratached, but these still performance normally. To test the IP52 rating, Zack also covered the foldable phone with a lot of dust. But this didn’t seem to affect the device’s folding mechanism at all.

For the final test, the Moto Razr 40 Ultra was put through the bend test to test its durability. The smartphone’s flexible panel help up since it managed to not break or show any issues. However, the outer panel’s glass was completely shattered. Despite all of this abuse, the device still performed normally.

The devices have also been announced in the global market but with different names. However, the Indian market was left out. It seems that is about to change very soon as Motorola has now teased the launch of the Razr 40 Ultra in the country. Here are the details.

The Razr 40 Ultra boasts the largest cover screen on a flip phone

In a recent tweet, Motorola hinted at the launch of the Razr 40 Ultra in India, stating “A FLIPin’ awesome gift awaits.” The company shared a video showcasing the silhouette of a flip smartphone with a large cover screen. This smartphone is likely the Ultra model, as the vanilla version features a small bar-like cover screen. However, the Lenovo-owned company did not disclose the launch date or any other details about the device in the tweet.

To remind you, the Moto Razr 40 Ultra comes with a particularly large 3.6-inch external display, which is the largest on a clamshell foldable to date. The cover screen features a 10-bit AMOLED panel with a 1066 x 1056 px resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The best part is you can use the external display for almost everything, just like the internal one.

The main LTPO AMOLED display on the device measures 6.69 inches and offers FHD+ resolution with a 165hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and 1,400 nits peak brightness. The smartphone comes with the Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG) panel that boasts five-layer protection and no gap when closed. The handset is powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Soc under the hood and gets 12MP main sensor along with a 13MP ultrawide that also doubles as a macro cam.

A few days back renowned tipster Evan Blass shared some official-looking renders of the Moto Razr 40 Ultra. Now he has once again leaked new promo images of the highly anticipated Motorola Razr 40 Ultra, providing a detailed look at the upcoming device’s design and specifications.

The leaked images showcase the front cover display features a dual rear camera setup accompanied by an LED flash. The images reveal a larger cover display, allowing users to manage notifications conveniently. Motorola Razr+ to be sold as Moto Razr 40 Ultra in some regions, suggests TDRA

Moto Razr+ is going to arrive later this year as the brand’s latest flip phone and as an upgrade over last year’s model. The smartphone recently bagged 3C certification, suggesting Motorola has started to prepare for its launch. In the latest development, Moto Razr+ has been spotted on UAE’s TDRA and Canada’s REL certification sites. However, the device has appeared on the former with a different moniker— Moto Razr 40 Ultra.

To remind you, Moto Razr+ recently bagged China’s compulsory 3C certificate with model number XT2321-1. It has been spotted on TDRA and REL websites with the same model number. However, the UAE’s agency suggests the smartphone will be called Moto Razr 40 Ultra. This could mean the Lenovo-owned company could sell the foldable with different names, depending on the region.

From the certifications, we can assume that China and Canada will get the Moto Razr+ and the rest of the world may receive the Moto Razr 40 Ultra. Practically, this makes no difference for you as a consumer because except for the moniker, everything else will be the same.

For example, the Moto Xn models usually get relabeled as Moto Edge devices when they’re released globally (outside of China). The latest example of this is the Moto Edge 40 Pro, which is basically the same phone as the Moto X40 that was launched in China earlier this year.

While the exact reasons for Motorola’s rebranding trend remain unknown, one possible explanation could be that it is a marketing strategy to make the devices more appealing to consumers in those regions. For example, the Edge series has already gained popularity in the international market, so it would make sense for the company to release more devices under the “Edge” branding.
