Earlier this week, the unannounced Motorola One Power Android One smartphone was spotted in a leaked render. Today, a new image showing of what appears to be a real One Power phone has appeared on SlashLeaks.

The text “Motorola Confidential Property. Not for Sale” that is mentioned in very tiny letters in the bottom bezel suggests that it could be a prototype of the Motorola One Power. The leaked render of the phone that had surfaced earlier this week had revealed that the bottom bezel will carry “motorola” branding.

The Motorola One Power borrows its notched display design from the Apple iPhone X. Most of the other iPhone X inspired Android smartphones feature smaller notch, except for the newly unveiled Xiaomi Mi 8 series. The iPhone X and Mi 8 Explorer Edition have complex structured light 3D module for 3D facial recognition. The Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE also have wider notch, but they feature infrared face unlock and other components. There is no information available on why Motorola has included a larger notch on the One Power phone.

The new leak does not reveal the posterior of the phone. However, the previously spotted render reveals that it borrows vertical dual camera setup like the iPhone X. The back panel of the phone also features a fingerprint reader.

The specifications of the Motorola One Power handset are yet to appear. Rumors from the beginning of this year had claimed that the Moto X5 will be arriving as the successor for Moto X4 which is the first Android One phone from Motorola. However, recent reports have claimed that the Lenovo-owned company may have cancelled the Moto X5. Hence, it is now being speculated that the Motorola One Power could be some sort of sequel for Moto X4.

As of this writing, there is no information available on the launch date of the Motorola One Power. Most of the Motorola phones have launched in the recent years have Moto branding. After a long time, we may soon see a Motorola phone without Moto branding.

As Moto X4 was well received, Motorola was said to be working on its successor named Moto X5. Details of this upcoming smartphone surfaced online earlier this year in January. However, if the latest reports are to be believed, then the Lenovo-owned company has canceled the Moto X5.

According to the report, the cancellation of the Moto X5 smartphone is the part of company’s layoff exercise. Recently, Motorola confirmed the layoffs in its Chicago office but announced that the Moto Z-series of modular phones is emerging unscathed.

Further, the report adds that the company is also changing its approach towards the Moto Mods — modular accessories for its Moto Z series phones. Instead of releasing Moto Mods that appeal to niche markets, Motorola will now focus on that ones that it “believes can actually turn a profit.”

After canceling the Moto X5, the Lenovo-owned company is now shifting its focus on three of its popular smartphone series — Moto G, Moto E and Moto Z. While highly unlikely, the Motorola’s X-series could make a come back in the future.

In an official statement to various publications, Motorola said, “In late 2017, Lenovo announced a worldwide resource action that would occur over the next several quarters, and impacting less than two percent of its global workforce. This week’s employment reductions are a continuation of that process. We are reducing our Motorola operations in Chicago; however, this did not impact half of our workforce there and our Moto Z family will continue.”

Currently, Motorola is gearing up to launch its next-generation Moto G-series smartphones. The company will be launching three models in the G-series — Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play. Similarly, Motorola will be launching three models in the E-series as well, which includes Moto E5, E5 Plus, and E5 Play.

As of now, there is no information available regarding the launch date and pricing of the upcoming E5 and G6 series. However, given that the Moto E4 series was unveiled in June last year, we are expecting this new E5-series to make its debut at some point in the second quarter later this year. On the other hand, the G-series devices from Motorola are also expected to launch in the Q2 2018.

Leaked information that surfaced in the previous month revealed that Lenovo-owned Motorola would be launching the Moto E5 series, Moto G6 series, Moto X5 and Moto Z3 series smartphones this year. A well-known leakster has claimed that Motorola will be releasing only these phones in this year. This suggests that the company may not launch successor versions of Moto C and C Plus this year.

According to the tipster, the Moto E series phones that will probably include Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play will include basic specs and large battery.  He has also claimed that the Moto E5 Play would be replacing the Moto C series. The Moto G6 series may come with two-year old flagship specs. The Moto X5 may be branded as high-end phone.

The Moto Z series phones such as Moto Z3 Play and Moto Z3 Force may come with futuristic tech which could probably mean that these handsets will carry support MotoMods accessories along with flagship specs.

Leaked information has revealed that the Moto E5 will coming with 5-inch display and large-sized battery. The Moto G6 and G6 Plus may feature 5.93-inch FHD+ resolution supporting display whereas the Moto G6 Play may feature a regular 5.7-inch HD display. The G6 and G6 Plus may respectively feature Snapdragon 630 and 450 chipsets whereas the low-budget G6 Play may come with Snapdragon 430. The G6, G6 Plus and G6 Play are rumored to respectively cost around ~$265, ~$235 and ~187.

The Moto X5 is expected to sport a notch-enabled full screen design like iPhone X flanked with quad cameras. The Moto Z3 and Z3 Play are expected to arrive with 6-inch screen with support 18:9 aspect ratio. It is speculated that there will be a third Moto Z3 model that may feature advanced specs like Snapdragon 845 and higher resolution display. It is quite obvious that all the Z3 models will include support for MotoMods accessories. The leakster has added that Motorola will not be using MediaTek chipset on its phones this year.

Last year, Motorola revived its Moto X lineup of smartphones. Now, it has been confirmed that the series is here to stay. Apparently, the successor of Moto X4 is already in works and has been named as Moto X5.

The reliable leaker Evan Blass has tweeted an image of the Moto X5 smartphone branding, which is very similar to that of Moto X4. While Evan Blass has not revealed any more information regarding this, we expect more details will now follow.

We are expecting that the Moto X4 successor will come with some subtle improvements such as an updated camera sensors, new processors, and possibly a bump in RAM or storage.

Considering that the Lenovo-owned Motorola’s Moto X4 was introduced in August and released in October, we expect the company to follow a similar schedule for the Moto X5 as well. However, there is a possibility that we could see an early announcement of the phone, before the end of the Summer of 2018.

Recently, Evan Blass suggested that the 6th generation of Moto G smartphone will see the return of the Google Play Edition variant. Along with that, the company’s cheapest smartphone series — the Moto E series will also get a Play variant for the first time.

The information regarding the Moto X5 comes just a couple of months after the Moto X4’s rollout. The Moto X4 is available in the US in three variants — Android One variant with Project Fi, Unlocked variant and Amazon Prime Exclusive variant.

The Moto X4 features a 5.2-inch LTPS IPS LCD screen with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a layer of Gorilla Glass 4 on top. Under the hood, it is powered by a Snapdragon 630 chipset with 3GB/4GB RAM. The 3GB RAM model comes with 32GB storage while the 4GB RAM packs 64GB of internal storage.

It has dual camera setup at the back, with a 12-megapixel lens with f/2.0 aperture and an 8-megapixel secondary lens with f/2.2 aperture. The lenses are coupled with features like phase detection autofocus, 4K video shooting and dual-LED flash.

The smartphone comes with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box and comes with Google Assistant as well as supports Amazon Alexa. It is powered by a 3,000mAh battery which can be fast charged using Motorola’s Turbo Charging technology.
