The name suggests the unannounced smartphone would be a re-enactment of the classic Motorola Defy which was first launched in 2010. The Defy happened to be the first Android phone ever to have water and dustproof capabilities. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-393136" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console.jpg?x10805" alt="Motrola Defy" width="621" height="748" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console.jpg 621w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-249x300.jpg 249w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-349x420.jpg 349w" sizes="(max-width: 621px) 100vw, 621px" /></a></p>
<p>Since the Play Console and GeekBench listing of the Defy, there have been no other details regarding the specs and launch. However, that has changed as popular tipster Ishan Argawal has <a href="https://www.91mobiles.com/hub/motorola-defy-series-relaunch-exclusive/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">reportedly</a> hinted that the Lenovo-owned brand will launch the Defy series soon. This throws up the possibility of the company releasing more than one smartphone. It could also be that we&#8217;ll get to see successive models yearly but this will depend on how the series is received in the market. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render-.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-369706" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render-.png?x10805" alt="Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render-" width="900" height="560" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render-.png 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render--300x187.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render--768x478.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render--696x433.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Motorola-Athena-Google-Play-Console-Render--675x420.png 675w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>
<p>Unfortunately, for fans in India, the Defy series won&#8217;t be meeting with them as the tipster also added that the series will only be launched in markets outside India. However, he failed to mention the markets where the smartphone(s) will be unveiled.</p>
<p>While we are unsure if this news is accurate, it is safe to expect the Motorola Defy any time soon.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-393135" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="800" height="494" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench-300x185.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench-768x474.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench-356x220.jpg 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench-696x430.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/Motorola-Athena-Geekbench-680x420.jpg 680w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></a></p>
<p>As for the expected specifications of the Motorola Defy (Athena), the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/02/05/motorola-athena-defy-with-snapdragon-662-surfaces-at-google-play-console-and-geekbench/">Google Play Console</a> listing shows that the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. The phone will also run on Android 10 OS and will have a screen with HD+ resolution. The Play Console listing gave us a view of the front screen showing a waterdrop notch on top of the screen. The way the back cover wraps around the screen to create tightly sealed edges also suggests it may equally come with waterproof and dustproof properties. Recall that the original Motorola Defy was water-resistant and dustproof.</p>
<p>We expect more details of this smartphone to emerge a time goes by.</p>

The listing suggests that the smartphone is codenamed as “bathena.” According to a report by <em><a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/motorola-athena-defy-google-play-console-geekbench/">My Smart Price</a></em>, the same Motorola phone appeared as Athena at the Google Play Console and names like Motorola Defy, bathena, and Athena in the Google Play Console supported devices list. Hence, it appears that the Motorola Athena and Defy are one and the same phone.</p>
<p>On Geekbench (first spotted by <em><a href="https://twitter.com/yabhishekhd/status/1357508467976622080">Abhishek Yadav</a>)</em>, the handset was spotted with 4 GB of RAM and Android 10 OS.  The listing further revealed that it is powered by a Qualcomm processor that has a base frequency of 1.80GHz. The source code of the listing revealed that the SoC has Adreno 610 graphics onboard. It scored 1523 in the single-core and 5727 in the multi-core tests of Geekbench.</p>
