Motorola has really improved its software rollout pace, delivering faster updates this time, and hopefully, it will only keep getting better. The latest Android 16 update is already available to over a dozen of its devices, and is now expanding to four more Motorola smartphones via the beta program.

The company has just updated the MFN Beta Testing page, showing that the Android 16 beta program is now open for four more devices: Edge 2024, Edge 40 Pro, Edge+ 2023, and Moto G35 5G. The beta program is available in select regions as mentioned in the following list:

• Motorola Edge 2024 – US
• Motorola Edge 40 Pro – EMEA, LATAM
• Motorola Edge+ 2023 – US
• Moto G35 5G – India, EMEA

To get the Android 16 beta update, you need to submit an application to participate in the beta program. Once your application is approved, the Android 16 beta will be delivered to your Motorola phone via an OTA update.

Here’s how to participate in Motorola’s Android 16 beta program

1. Create an account on Motorola’s community website (if you haven’t already).
2. Visit the profile page and update your IMEI or serial number (SN) details.
3. Opt in for MFN on your Motorola community profile.
4. Always ensure that your phone is running the latest software.
5. Go to the MFN Beta Testing Opportunities page to see a testing opportunity for your Motorola device.
6. Tap on the registration link for your Motorola phone.
7. Fill in the required details and submit your application.

You may receive emails from Motorola regarding the beta application. Therefore, remember to check your mail app regularly. Also, don’t forget to check your spam/junk folder.

Once Motorola approves your beta application, the Android 16 beta will reach your device in a few days. You can check for available updates by navigating to Settings > System > Check for updates.

Regarding the changes, there aren’t many, to be honest. This update may not feel like a major one, but there are a few quality-of-life improvements to look forward to. Motorola users can now connect to the hotspot of another device without entering the password, provided the devices are logged into the same Google account. The Settings app has also received notable upgrades, now featuring Do Not Disturb, Bedtime, and Driving modes in the Modes section. Motorola is set to launch the Motorola Edge 50 Pro in India on April 3. The brand recently confirmed a bunch of specifications and features onboard the device. Now, tipster Paras Guglani has revealed the pricing and configuration details of this device.

As per Paras, the Motorola Edge 50 Pro will debut in India with a sole 12GB RAM + 512GB configuration. It will retail for Rs 44,999, however, with offers, it will cost Rs 39,999. The device will be available in three color options: Lavender Purple, Pearl White, and Black Eclipse.

As per the official announcement, the Motorola Edge 40 Pro will feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K resolution pOLED curved display with Pantone-validated colors and a 144Hz refresh rate. It is said to have a peak brightness of 2,000 nits.

Under the hood, it is confirmed to feature a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor which has eight cores and a peak clock speed of 2.63 GHz. The phone will come with Android 14 out of the box with a promise of 3 major Android updates. Additionally, it will come with many AI-powered features including including Style Sync AI Generative Theming and AI Adaptive Stabilization for videos.

The phone will sport a 50MP autofocus selfie camera and a f/1.4 aperture rear camera. Motorola Edge+ is not exactly a new device. It is the US version of the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, which debuted in Europe back in April. The smartphone comes with a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that offers an FHD+ resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support. The curved panel features an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It is rated IP68 for dust and water resistance. There’s Gorilla Glass Victus protection on both front and back of the smartphone.

The company promises that Edge+ will get three major Android OS updates and four years of security updates.

The Motorola Edge+ 2023 will be available on Boost Mobile starting May 9. It will then roll out to Spectrum Mobile and Consumer Cellular. If you prefer to buy it unlocked, you can get it from Motorola.com, Best Buy, and Amazon for $799 starting May 25.

Motorola has debuted the Edge 40 Pro in the European markets. It arrives as the successor to the Edge 30 Pro. The device is a rebadged version of the Moto X40 that was announced in China last December. The Edge 40 Pro is a flagship in every sense packing top-of-the-line specifications. Reports suggest that Motorola is preparing to launch new high-end smartphones for global markets, specifically the Moto Edge 40 and Edge 40 Pro, which have been the subject of rumors for some time. According to Bluetooth SIG, the Moto X40 will also go by Motorola Edge+ 2023. The handset will be likely sold under this name in the US as its predecessor Moto X30 is known as Motorola Edge+ in the region.

The listing also confirms that the phone will be called Motorola Edge 40 Pro, which we already know. In a nutshell, the Moto X40 will use Edge 40 Pro branding in the rest of the world and Edge Plus 2023 in the US.

Since the device is already official, we know everything about it. In fact, we even know how much it will cost in Europe.

Last month, Motorola launched its latest flagship smartphone in the Chinese market called the Moto X40. The smartphone is expected to come to the global market soon bearing the Motorola Edge 40 Pro moniker. The device has already appeared on FCC, TDRA, and Geekbench hinting at an imminent launch.

Now, a new report from Appuals has revealed the design of the upcoming Edge 40 Pro, further confirming that it is indeed a rebrand of the Moto X40.

The renders reveal two color options for the upcoming device – Black and Blue. The design is exactly the same as the X40, which in other words means that it has a curved back with a square-shaped camera island. The phone’s 50MP primary camera sensor is confirmed by the inscription on the camera module.

The phone sports a hole-punch cutout in the upper center of its curved display on the front. The bezels at the top and bottom are also incredibly thin. On the right edge of the phone are also the power and volume keys. Additionally, there will be an in-display fingerprint scanner. Other than the renders, the report also lists the specifications of the Edge 40 Pro while also mentioning its pricing.

Moto Edge 40 Pro specifications and price

According to the report, there will be a 6.67-inch curved OLED display on the device capable of FHD+ resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, and DC Dimming. It will be powered by the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which will be supported by a 4600mAh battery. The battery will have 125W wired charging and 15W wireless charging. It will utilize a custom Android 13 skin which will be close to a stock experience.

For optics, there will be a 50MP primary camera with OIS, aided by a 50MP ultra-wide unit and a 12MP telephoto lens. As for selfies, the phone will carry a 60MP sensor. Lastly, as per unnamed sources, the Moto Edge 40 Pro will come with a single 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage option, which will cost EUR 850.

Motorola has confirmed to launch the Moto X40 (Motorola Edge 40 Pro) in December in China. The company has been teasing the features of this smartphone for quite a while now. At the same time, the details about the device are also emerging from other sources.

For instance, the phone has now leaked in renders revealing its entire design. Let’s take a look at everything that’s known about it.

We already know what the upcoming Moto X40 will look like. That’s because its design had been already leaked via a TENAA listing. The latest leak from @OnLeaks (via MySmartPrice) confirms the design again.

As per the renders, the handset will sport a curved display. It will house a rectangular camera island with sensor placements somewhat similar to that of iPhone Pro models.

The power and volume keys will reside on the right side, while the left will be empty. The top of the phone will house the secondary speaker grille and secondary microphone hole. Whereas, the bottom will include the primary speaker grille, primary microphone hole, and a USB Type-C port.

Finally, the rear panel of the device will not only feature the iconic Motorola Batwing logo at the center but also a ‘motorola’ banding at the bottom.

Talking about specs, multiple leaks and official teasers have revealed that the Moto X40 (Motorola Edge 40 Pro) will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with LPDDR5x RAM. It will flaunt a 6.67-inch 10-bit curved OLED display with an FHD+ resolution and up to a 165Hz refresh rate.

Motorola announced the Moto Edge X30 as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone in December 2021 in China. The Edge branding was later dropped for the Chinese market. The X30 was rebranded as the Motorola Edge 30 Pro in the global market in January this year. There is a possibility that the company may release a new flagship phone in China by the end of this year. This seems possible as an alleged X-series flagship phone has bagged approval from the 3C authority of China.

A new Motorola phone with an XT2301-5 model number has appeared in the database of the 3C regulatory body. The listing reveals that it is a 5G phone, which may ship with a 68W charger. It seems that it could be the next X-series flagship phone, which may debut by December this year as a successor to the Moto Edge X30. So, it looks like the XT2301-5 might be sold in China under the name Moto X40 or something similar.

The leaked roadmap of upcoming Motorola phones revealed that the company’s upcoming flagship phones for the global market are codenamed Bronco and Canyon. These devices are speculated to be released in the global market as the Motorola Edge 40 and the Edge 40 Pro.

The Moto X40 heading to the Chinese market may get rebranded as the Edge 40 Pro in the global market. The alleged Moto X40 / Edge 40 Pro is expected to arrive with a 165Hz FHD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 8 GB / 12 GB of RAM, a 60-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 50-megapixel (main) + 50-megapixel (ultrawide + macro) + 12-megapixel (telephoto) triple camera unit.

It is best to take the report with a grain of salt and wait for more news to find out what the final marketing name of the Motorola XT2301 really is.
