The release was later shifted to April 15 (today) due to the COVID 19 lockdown instituted by the Indian government. Sadly, the Motorola Razr (2019) won&#8217;t be released today as the company has once again shifted the release date to May 6.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-305469" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr.jpg?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr" width="900" height="666" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-300x222.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-768x568.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-485x360.jpg 485w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-696x515.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/Motorola-Razr-568x420.jpg 568w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></a></p>
<p>India is still in lockdown until May 3 after the recent extension and that is what prompted the shift, a statement released by the company revealed. Clutching a retail price of Rs. 124,999 (around $1632), we doubt if there are very many persons who would be disappointed by the announcement.</p>
<p>Motorola first unveiled the Razr (2019) last year as a re-imagined version of the classic Motorola Razr of yore. The smartphone is powered by a Snapdragon 710 midrange chipset but what makes it tickle is the foldable OELD screen which it packs. The device features a 6.2-inch pOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and resolution of 2142 x 876 pixels. There is also a secondary 2.7-inch cover screen upfront with 800 x 600 pixels resolution. The foldable phone comes in a sole 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option.</p>

While the device made its debut in November 2019, Motorola hinted that the phone will be launched in India on March 16 at 12.30 pm. More details have now emerged that the Razr 2019 will be launched on Flipkart on that day.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr.gif?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-310166" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr.gif?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr 2019" width="574" height="323" /></a></p>
<p>The new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-2019/">Razr 2019</a> still retained the flip design but lack a physical keyboard. Instead, what we got is a foldable screen in the most simplistic of form. No surprise the Motorola Razr 2019 has been a popular model since it was launched. The design may have even inspired the Samsung Z flip that was launched last month. You may check out our comparison article of the two models from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/comparison/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-vs-motorola-razr-2019/">here</a>.</p>
<p>As per the specifications, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-2019/">Motorola Razr 2019</a> features an internal P-OLED foldable display with a resolution of 876 x 2142 pixels. The display also uses an aspect ratio of 21:9. The outer screen houses a G-OLED screen of 2.7 inches with a resolution of 600 x 800 pixels.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr-India-launch-Flipkart.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-310167" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr-India-launch-Flipkart.jpg?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr 2019" width="715" height="265" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr-India-launch-Flipkart.jpg 715w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr-India-launch-Flipkart-300x111.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Motorola-razr-India-launch-Flipkart-696x258.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px" /></a></p>
<p>The Razr 2019 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 mobile platform paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128GB of native storage. For photography, you get a 5MP selfie camera at the front while at the rear, there is a 16MP with f/1.7 aperture along with dual-LED flash. The phone packs a 2,510mAh battery and supports 15W TurboPower fast charging through USB-C.</p>
<p>Motorola is yet to reveal the price of the Razr 2019 in India but in the international markets, the Razr is selling for $1,499.</p>

May fans soon realised that the foldable phone they needed wasn&#8217;t one that transforms into a tablet size when unfolded but one that becomes more portable like the Razr. The design tyle was featured by Samsung on the Galaxy Z flip that was launched just about two weeks back.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-307522" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr.png?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr 2019" width="722" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr.png 722w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-696x392.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px" /></a></p>
<p>Popular Youtuber Zack from the channel JerryRigEverything has got his hands on the Razr 2019 and earlier on carried out a durability test on the device. The Youtuber has now published a teardown video of the Moto Razr 2019 showing the entire internals. He also did a comparison with the Galaxy Z Flip internals especially the hinge mechanism.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eJzJMgCjVqo?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>
<p>One thing that we can make out from the video is that the Motorola Razr 2019 adopts a different approach in its hinge design from that of the Galaxy Z Flip. Motorola’s adopted a simplistic mechanism with two inserts on the side acting as pivots. The hinge also has two gears on each half of the phone and springs on the side to help open and close the handset. The two halves are connected by a ribbon cable which Motorola was careful not to put too much strain by ensuring the fold at the middle of the screen bends as gentle as possible.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-307523" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-2.png?x10805" alt="Motorola Razr 2019" width="721" height="404" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-2.png 721w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-2-300x168.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/moto-razr-2-696x390.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 721px) 100vw, 721px" /></a></p>
<p>The hinge is pretty durable as shown n a separate durability test where it caved in after 27,000 folds even though Motorola touts durability of 200,000 folds. Another interesting thing is that the screen is pretty cheap to replace at around $200.</p>
<p>Also, Zack shows a better shot of the bristles that Samsung relies on to keep the dust out of the hinge in the course of the video. On the Razr, Motorola used sticky goop over important connections inside the Razr meant to catch dust and keep water away from the exposed electrical contacts.</p>
<p>Overall, the Motorola Razr 2019 internal layout is quite complicated as the foldable form factor made routing the cables tricky. The reviewers who tagged the Razr “impossible to repair” may just be right after all.</p>
