Motorola exec denies Moto Razr 3 battery rumors, launch might be near

The Motorola Razr 3 has been making the rounds in various leaks and reports. But now, a company executive has personally denied one of these rumors regarding the battery of the upcoming foldable smartphone.

For those unaware, a previous report had revealed some key details regarding the Moto Razr 3 model. It would’ve apparently be powered by a 2,800mAh battery pack. However, the general manager of Lenovo’s mobile phone operations has denied this leak. The senior official Chen Jin took to Weibo (Via ITHome) stated that this information was not accurate. In other words, this might hint that the upcoming foldable handset will possibly come with a larger battery pack than previously rumored.

Although, the company official did not reveal the exact specifications of the smartphone’s battery. So, we don’t really have much information to go on at the moment. From what we know so far, the smartphone is expected to sport a larger 6.7 inch display over its predecessor’s 6.2 inch panel. Furthermore, the cover screen will apparently also be a large 3 inch panel. The primary foldable panel will have a FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.

On the front, the smartphone is rumored to house a 32 megapixel selfie shooter. Interestingly, Jin’s Weibo post also showcased a new wallpaper of the cover screen as well. Underneath the rear external display, the Razr 3 is expected to feature a dual camera setup, while the Razr 3 may also be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. Motorola has a foldable smartphone named Motorola Razr and now the company is gearing up to launch the third-generation model, which is said to be named Motorola Razr 3.

Ahead of the official launch, details about the smartphone keep surfacing online. In the latest development, Chen Jin, General Manager of Lenovo China has teased the lock screen of the smartphone.

He shared an image of the lock screen from the Moto Razr smartwatch and added that he can’t put down the idea of the Razr Watch wallpaper. While not clearly mentioned, it is likely that he is talking about the upcoming Motorola Razr 3 smartphone.

Based on the leaks so far, the upcoming foldable smartphone from the company will come with a clamshell folding design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip lineup but the external screen is much larger.

The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.7-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout for housing the 32-megapixel selfie snapper. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, coupled with up to 12GB of RAM.

In the camera department, it is expected to have a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor, coupled with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens. It is said to have a larger capacity battery compared to its predecessor but the exact details are not yet known.

Motorola is working on a new foldable smartphone dubbed the Motorola Razr 3. The device has already appeared in a hands-on video leaked by the popular tipster Evan Blass. Now, a new report has revealed the battery capacity of the upcoming foldable from the company.

According to the Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station, the Razr 3 will come with a 2,800mAh battery. This is the same battery capacity as the Motorola Razr 5G from 2020, which is powered by the Snapdragon 765G chipset. However, the upcoming Razr 3 is expected to come with the recently announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, which is around 30% more power-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is due to it being made on TSMC’s 4nm node instead of Samsung’s. Therefore, we can expect better battery life from this device compared to the 2020 model.

Reports have revealed that unlike predecessor models, which featured upper mid-range chipsets, the Razr 3 will come equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 flagship SoC. Steve Hemmerstoffer, a reliable tipster, has collaborated with Compare Dial to leak the Razr 3’s price and color options.

The Motorola Razr 5G was announced with a price tag of 1,399 euros. The new leak shows that the official price of the Razr 3 in Europe will be 1,149 euros, making it more affordable.

Now, reputed tipster Evan Blass shared an 8-second video clip of the Razr 3 to give a good look at its front and rear design.

The company has shared a poster on Weibo teasing its upcoming Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 smartphone which is likely to be the Razr 3. The rumors about Motorola’s upcoming foldable have been around for quite a long time and now the company has sort of confirmed that with the new poster.

Motorola’s general manager Shen Jin has shared a poster on Weibo that not only teases the imminent arrival of the Motorola Razr 3 but also reveals that it will be powered by Qualcomm’s newly launched processor.

The poster did not mention Motorola Razr 3 specifically but seeing the design of the phone, it’s obvious that it could be nothing else but the upcoming Razr. Shen Jin made the post with the caption “We have hidden an Easter egg in this new poster, can you see it?”. The easter he is talking about is Moto’s upcoming foldable whose V shaped outline is visible on the bottom of the poster.

Snapdragon’s new processor will definitely give Motorola Razr 3 an upper edge over other foldables. The Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 is built on TSMC’s 4nm process and boasts 10% greater CPU performance, 10% quicker graphics, and up to 30% better power efficiency than its predecessor.

Yesterday, XDA Developers carried a report that revealed that the Motorola Razr 3 will be arriving as a flagship device, unlike the predecessor models that were packed with mid-range specs. Now, a fresh report by Technik News has revealed additional information on the specs of the Razr 3.

XDA reported that it has learnt through its sources that the Razr 3 will be driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. To recollect, the first Motorola Razr flip phone came with Snapdragon 710 and its second-generation model was equipped with the Snapdragon 765G chipset.

The Razr 3 is likely to arrive in RAM options such as 6 GB, 8 GB, and 12 GB. It is likely to arrive in storage choices like 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB.
