<p>Foldable phones have evolved significantly, transitioning from a novelty to a serious contender in the smartphone market. With a growing array of brands and models available, choosing the right foldable phone can be daunting. Are you looking forward purchasing a new foldable phone? Here are seven key features to consider before making your purchase.</p>

<h2><strong>Form Factor: Flip or Fold?</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6" class="wp-image-638892" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-1920x1440.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152722-265x198.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Foldable phones come in two main styles: horizontally folding (book-style) and vertically folding (clamshell-style). Horizontally folding phones, like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-6/">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6</a> and the OnePlus Open, provide a tablet-like experience when unfolded, making them ideal for multitasking and media consumption. Conversely, vertically folding phones, such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-6/">Galaxy Z Flip 6</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-50">Motorola Razr 50</a>f, are more compact and pocket-friendly, prioritizing portability. Choose the form factor that best suits your needs and lifestyle.</p>

<h2><strong>Display Quality</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6" class="wp-image-638878" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-1920x1440.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152213-265x198.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The folding display is the heart of any foldable phone. Look for a screen that offers high resolution and pixel density to ensure sharp text and images, particularly important on a larger unfolded screen. Having a bright screen is crucial for outdoor visibility, and while the crease is inherent to current folding technology, aim for a phone where it is less noticeable and does not disrupt the viewing experience.</p>

<h2><strong>Hinge Mechanism</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="770" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-1024x770.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6" class="wp-image-640780" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-1024x770.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-300x226.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-768x578.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-1536x1155.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-2048x1540.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-696x523.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-1068x803.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-1920x1444.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-559x420.jpg 559w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/IMG20240711115409-265x198.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The hinge is a critical component that impacts durability and usability. Consider a hinge that opens and closes smoothly without any wobble or resistance, ensuring stability during use. Durability is paramount, so look for a hinge designed to withstand repeated folding and unfolding. It should allow users to open/close the device at different angles. For example, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 offers the &#8220;Flex Mode” feature, which allows you to use the phone at various angles, similar to a mini laptop, enhancing versatility.</p>

<h2><strong>Software Optimization</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://forumstatic.oneplusmobile.com/opforum-gl/upload/image/front/thread/20231213/4819035854552714301/1484717231710404617/1484717231710404617.png" alt="" width="1068" height="600"/><figcaption>OnePlus Open Canvas mode</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Software plays a crucial role in the foldable experience. Look for a phone with app continuity, ensuring apps seamlessly transition between the folded and unfolded states. Multitasking features, such as split-screen mode and drag-and-drop functionality, should be optimized for the larger unfolded screen. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-open/">OnePlus Open’s</a> Canvas Mode is the best when it comes to multi-tasking, as it allows users to open up to three full-screen apps on a single screen. Having a flagship chip onboard along with optimized software will ensure a buttery smooth experience.&nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Camera System</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="750" height="750" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White.webp?x44794" alt="Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Lunar White" class="wp-image-652249" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White.webp 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White-300x300.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White-150x150.webp 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White-696x696.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-X-Fold-3-Pro-Lunar-White-420x420.webp 420w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /><figcaption>Vivo X Fold 3 Pro Lunar White Limited Edition</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Camera quality is another vital consideration. Look for a phone with a versatile camera system that includes multiple lenses—wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto—to cover various shooting scenarios. To name a few, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x-fold-3-pro/">Vivo X Fold 3 Pro </a>and the OnePlus Open offer an impressive camera setup.</p>

<p>Check for image quality features like optical image stabilization, excellent low-light performance, and high-resolution sensors. Additionally, some foldables offer unique camera features, such as using the cover screen as a viewfinder for selfies, which enhances your photography experience.</p>

<h2><strong>Battery Life</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="689" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-1024x689.jpg?x44794" alt="OnePlus Open" class="wp-image-642750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-1024x689.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-300x202.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-768x516.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-696x468.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-1068x718.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197-625x420.jpg 625w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/OnePlus-Open-color-variants-e1726808425197.jpg 1255w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>OnePlus Open</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Foldable phones typically have larger batteries to support their expansive displays, but battery life can still be a concern. Look for a device with high battery capacity, as a larger mAh rating generally translates to longer usage time. While fast charging support is beneficial for quickly topping up the battery when needed, the phone&#8217;s processor and software should optimize for power efficiency to minimize battery drain.</p>

<p>In this area, the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro shines thanks to its 5,750mAh battery, the largest on a foldable phone. It also supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. Even the OnePlus Open’s 4,805mAh battery with 67W fast charging support offers an impressive battery life.</p>

<h2><strong>Durability and After-Sales Support</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image is-style-default"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="768" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-1024x768.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6" class="wp-image-638879" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-2048x1536.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-696x522.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-1068x801.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-1920x1440.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-560x420.jpg 560w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/20240710_152034-265x198.jpg 265w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Given that foldable phones are an investment, durability is crucial. Look for water and dust resistance, ideally with an IP rating (e.g., IPX8) for protection against the elements. Additionally, check for a durable screen protector, as foldable screens can be more susceptible to scratches. Finally, consider the warranty and after-sales support offered; a satisfactory warranty and reliable service can provide peace of mind.</p>

<p>By carefully considering these seven key features, you can make an informed decision and choose the foldable phone that best fits your needs and preferences. As technology continues to evolve, we can expect even more innovative and exciting foldable phones in the future.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/motorola/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola</a>&#8216;s Razr series is a compelling option for those seeking a nostalgic flip phone experience with modern capabilities.</p>

<p>The company recently launched the Razr 50 in India, priced at Rs 69,999. Interestingly, last year’s Razr 40 Ultra also launched at the same price, but it&#8217;s now available for Rs 45,000.</p>

<p>So, which clamshell from Motorola offers better value—the older model or the latest release? Let’s dive in and find out.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Razr 50 vs Razr 40 Ultra" class="wp-image-649804" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50-vs-Razr-40-Ultra-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones boast near-identical 6.9-inch main displays with high resolution, but the Razr 50 edges out the 40 Ultra in a few key areas. The Razr 50&#8217;s main display features a brighter peak brightness of 3000 nits compared to the 40 Ultra&#8217;s 1400 nits.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The new phone also has a slightly larger 3.6-inch display compared to the 40 Ultra&#8217;s 3.2-inch panel. This translates to a more usable experience for checking notifications, interacting with widgets, or even composing quick messages without unfolding the phone.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Motorola-Razr-50.webp?x44794" alt=""/></figure></div>

<p>The Razr 40 Ultra takes the lead in terms of refresh rate. Its main screen refreshes at 165Hz compared to 120Hz on the Razr 50, and the cover panel has a refresh rate of 144Hz versus 90Hz on the Razr 50.</p>

<p>While higher refresh rates lead to smoother animations, this may not be a key factor for most users since the Razr series is not aimed at gamers.</p>

<p>Otherwise, both of them use a LTPO AMOLED panel and have HDR support with 10-bit color depth.  The cover screens on both models also come protected by Gorilla Glass Victus.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>As for the performance, the Razr 50 houses the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X, a 4nm chipset, compared to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (also 4nm) in the Razr 40 Ultra. However, the Snapdragon-powered Razr 40 Ultra clearly has the edge here with its flagship CPU and GPU setup.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So there’s no doubt that the Razr 40 Ultra delivers better performance, even when you think of gaming sometimes. Additionally, it comes with faster LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, compared to the LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage on the Razr 50, ensuring smoother overall performance on the Ultra model.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera System</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 features a dual camera system with a 50MP main sensor and a 13MP ultrawide sensor. The Razr 40 Ultra also has a dual camera setup, but with a lower resolution 12MP main sensor and the same 13MP ultrawide sensor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Razr 50 further stands out with a 50MP selfie camera, compared to the 12MP selfie camera on the Razr 40 Ultra.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Motorola-Razr-40-Ultra-Peach-Fuzz-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt=""/></figure></div>

<p>While the megapixel count isn&#8217;t the sole indicator of camera quality, the Razr 50 might offer a slight edge in capturing detail. However, it&#8217;s best to check reviews for a clearer assessment. Note that both phones lack a dedicated telephoto lens, but it’s a common omission in flip phones for now.</p>

<h3><strong>Battery and Charging</strong></h3>

<p>In terms of battery, the Razr 50 packs a slightly larger 4200mAh battery compared to the 3800mAh battery in the Razr 40 Ultra. On paper, the Razr 50 should offer better battery life, thanks to its larger battery and more efficient mid-range SoC. Again, this is something reviews would need to confirm.</p>

<p>Both phones offer wired fast charging at 30W, but the Razr 40 Ultra falls behind with only 5W wireless charging compared to the Razr 50&#8217;s 15W.</p>

<h3><strong>Durability and Design</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones sport a similar design language with a foldable display and a premium build quality. The Razr 50 has a slightly lighter weight and uses a more eco-friendly silicone polymer back compared to the Razr 40 Ultra&#8217;s glass back. The hinge is of stainless steel material on both, so should offer a durable folding unfolding experience.</p>

<p>The Razr 50 also has an IPX8 water-resistant design, allowing it to withstand submersion in up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes. In comparison, the Razr 40 Ultra only has a water-repellent coating, so it&#8217;s less resistant to accidental splashes.</p>

<h3><strong>Software</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 comes pre-installed with the newer Android 14. The Razr 40 Ultra was launched with Android 13 and is promised three major Android upgrades. It recently received one of those updates and now runs Android 14.</p>

<p>However, Motorola is infamous for being very slow regarding its updates, and no surprise, that it affected the Razr 40 Ultra as well. It only received the Android 14 update in August 2024. Hopefully, Motorola will improve this going forward. By the way, the Razr 50 also comes with a promise of three years of updates.</p>

<h3><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 offers more practical upgrades compared to the Razr 40 Ultra, including a larger cover screen, bigger battery, and water resistance thanks to its proper IP rating.</p>

<p>The Razr 40 Ultra still has its strengths, like a higher refresh rate for both the main and cover screens, along with a more powerful processor. However, in terms of practicality, the Razr 50 clearly comes out ahead. What gives the Razr 40 Ultra an edge right now, though, is its price.</p>

<p>At just Rs 45,000, it’s Rs 25,000 cheaper than the Razr 50, making it a great deal. So, if you’re looking to try a flip phone, the Razr 40 Ultra might be the better choice.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> has <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/09/02/huawei-tri-fold-phone-launch-september-10-event/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">announced a product launch event</a> for September 10th sparking anticipation about what might be unveiled. While the official event poster offers few details, speculation is rife that Huawei will introduce its first tri-fold phone. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Division hinted at a groundbreaking product, describing it as “the company’s most leading, innovative, and disruptive.”</p>

<p>Yu has been spotted with a tri-fold phone in public, and the event poster subtly features a silhouette of a tri-folding device, adding to the excitement. Leaked images suggest the phone will have a circular camera module, a slim profile when folded, and a 10-inch screen when fully unfolded. The design is expected to include inward and outward folding capabilities with a dual-hinge mechanism. The device is likely powered by the Kirin 9 series platform.</p>

<p>The live stream for the event is scheduled for September 10th at 14:30 (CST), and it will be available on Huawei’s official Weibo handle. All eyes are on Huawei as the company is set to reveal a product that could potentially redefine the foldable smartphone market.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tecno/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Tecno</a> is expected to launch upcoming foldable devices, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tecno-phantom-v-fold-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Phantom V Fold 2 5G</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/tecno-phantom-v-flip-2/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">V Flip 2 5G</a> globally in September. <p>A recent leak revealed that the Phantom V Flip 2, a clamshell foldable, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/26/tecno-phantom-v-fold-2-and-v-flip-2-prices-leaked-ahead-of-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">will be priced</a> at GHS 9,800 ($626) for the 8GB RAM + 256GB variant, while the Phantom V Fold 2, a book-style foldable, will cost GHS 16,550 ($1058) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB version.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/Tecno-Phantom-V-Fold-2-1024x684.jpg?x44794" alt="Tecno Phantom V Fold 2"/><figcaption>Tecno Phantom V Fold 2</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Though official specs are still under wraps, the Phantom V Fold 2 is expected to feature a 5,610mAh dual-cell battery with 70W fast charging, powered by the Dimensity 9000 Plus chipset.</p>

<p>The V Flip 2 is rumored to run on the Dimensity 8050. Tecno is positioning these foldables as more affordable alternatives to premium options like Samsung&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Fold 6</a>, which starts at $1800, and Motorola’s cheapest 2024 clamshell foldable, priced at $700.</p>

<h3><strong>Vivo T3 Ultra</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Vivo-T3-Pro-5G-1024x631.png?x44794" alt="Vivo T3 Pro 5G"/><figcaption>Vivo T3 Pro 5G</figcaption></figure></div>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo</a> is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/09/01/vivo-t3-ultra-launching-this-month-key-details-leaked/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">reportedly set to expand</a> its T3 lineup with the introduction of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo-t3-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo T3 Ultra</a> in India. According to reports, the T3 Ultra will be powered by the Dimensity 9200 Plus chipset, making it more powerful than the Vivo T3 Pro, which uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. The Ultra variant is expected to be priced around Rs 30,000 ($358), slightly higher than the Pro model&#8217;s starting price of Rs 24,999 ($298).</p>

<p>The T3 Ultra is rumored to feature an IP68-rated body, a curved-edge AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, and 4500 nits of peak brightness. It will also sport an OIS-enabled Sony IMX921 primary camera. The device, with model number V2426, has appeared on Geekbench, confirming the D9200+ chip, 12 GB of RAM, and Android 14.</p>

<p>Interestingly, these specs are similar to those of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-v40-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo V40 Pro</a>, though the T3 Ultra may lack the Zeiss optics found in the V40 Pro. While the report suggests an early September launch, it seems more likely that Vivo will tease the device for a week before its official debut.</p>

<h3><strong>Realme P2 Pro</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/Screenshot-2024-07-26-212312.png?x44794" alt="realme 13 Pro Series 5G"/><figcaption>Realme 13 Pro series 5G</figcaption></figure></div>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Realme</a> is gearing up to launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/realme-p2-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">P2 Pro</a> in India, following the recent release of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-p1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">P1</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/realme-p1-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">P1 Pro</a>. The P2 Pro <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/08/30/realme-p2-pro-bis-certification-india-launch/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">has been spotted</a> on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) website, suggesting an imminent launch. While the listing doesn&#8217;t reveal any specs, a report hints at four storage variants: 8GB RAM with 128GB or 256GB storage, 12GB RAM with 256GB storage, and a top-tier model with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage. The phone <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/09/01/realme-p2-pro-configurations-color-variants-leaked-heres-what-to-expect-on-specifications/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">is expected to come</a> in Chameleon Green and Eagle Grey color options.</p>

<p>Pricing details are not yet confirmed, but it is expected to be priced in the sub-Rs 20,000 range, positioning it as a competitor to devices like the POCO X6 and iQOO Z9. The P2 Pro might share similarities with the recently released Realme 13 Pro, which features a 6.7-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz screen, Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, and a 5,200mAh battery with 45W fast charging. However, these details are based on leaks and reports, so they should be approached with caution until Realme makes an official announcement.</p>

<p>The Redmi Note 14 5G is expected to launch in China in September 2024, with an India release likely in January 2025. The phone will reportedly run on HyperOS 1.0, feature Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 5G support, and offer 33W charging, similar to the Redmi Note 13 5G.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola">Motorola</a> has been consistently launching new phones in India. Today, it will unveil the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-g45/">Moto G45</a>, a low-priced 5G smartphone. It is also said to be working on the launch of the Moto G35 5G, which could be the company’s most affordable 5G phone. While there is no official word on the arrival of the G35, the company has started teasing the arrival of the Razr 50.</p>

<h3><strong>Motorola Razr 50 teaser released in India</strong></h3>

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Keep a look out for the latest smartphone with a massive external display. <p>To recall, Motorola unveiled the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra in June in China. In July, the Ultra variant was released in other markets, including India. Now, the brand is all set to launch the standard Razr 50. It remains to be seen whether it will launch before the end of this month in India.</p>

<p>To recall, the Razr 40, which debuted last year, came equipped with a 1.5-inch cover display. The above teaser reveals that the Razr 50 will sport a larger cover screen, which will be slightly smaller than the Razr 50 Ultra&#8217;s cover display.</p>

<h3><strong>Motorola Razr 50 specifications</strong></h3>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-50/">Motorola Razr 50</a> is an IPX8-rated device featuring a 6.9-inch AMOLED LTPO panel that offers an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. The secondary display measures 3.6 inches and offers 1056 x 1066 pixels resolution. It is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Victus.</p>

<p>The D<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/dimensity-7300X">imensity 7300X</a> chipset, 12 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, up to 512 GB of UFS 2.2 storage, and a 4,200mAh battery with 30W fast charging power the Razr 50. It has a 32-megapixel front camera and a 50-megapixel (main, with OIS) + 13-megapixel (ultrawide) dual-camera setup on the back.</p>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-50-ultra">Razr 50 Ultra</a> is priced at Rs 99,999. It is likely that the standard Razr 50 could be priced at around Rs 70,000.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola</a> recently unveiled its latest foldable phone, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/26/motorola-razr-50-series-launched-in-europe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Razr 50</a>, following the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-razr-40/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Razr 40</a> launched in June 2023. Both phones offer foldable displays and a taste of foldable innovation, but how do they stack up against each other? Let&#8217;s take a deep dive into their specifications and features to see which Razr might be the better choice for you.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-1024x640.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Razr 50 series" class="wp-image-634585" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-1068x668.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series-672x420.jpg 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moto-Razr-50-series.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Display</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 and Razr 40 share the same internal display size &#8211; a large 6.9-inch FHD+ pOLED panel. However, the Razr 50 takes a slight edge in peak brightness, reaching a whopping 2600 nits compared to the Razr 40&#8217;s 1400 nits. Both offer vibrant visuals with HDR 10+ support, but the Razr 50 might be a better choice for outdoor use under direct sunlight.</p>

<p>The bigger difference lies in the refresh rate. The Razr 50 boasts a 10-120Hz variable refresh rate, allowing for smoother scrolling and animations when needed, while the Razr 40 offers a fixed 144Hz refresh rate. The variable refresh rate on the Razr 50 can potentially help with battery life as well.</p>

<p>The external display is where things differ significantly. The Razr 50 features a larger 3.6-inch FHD+ pOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, making it more usable for tasks like checking notifications, replying to messages, or even taking quick photos. The Razr 40&#8217;s external display is a mere 1.47-inch AMOLED panel with a 60Hz refresh rate, limiting its functionality.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 takes a different approach under the hood, opting for the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X processor built on a 4nm process. The Razr 40, on the other hand, utilizes the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor, also built on a 4nm process.</p>

<p>While benchmark scores are yet to be revealed for the Dimensity 7300X, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 is a capable mid-range processor. Both processors should be able to handle everyday tasks and even some light gaming. However, power users who prioritize performance might want to wait for benchmark results before making a decision.</p>

<p>Both phones are available with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM. However, the Razr 50 offers more storage options, starting at 256GB and going up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage for the top model. In comparison, the Razr 40 comes with 128GB or 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 and Razr 40 share the same 32MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. However, the rear camera systems differ slightly.</p>

<p>The Razr 50 boasts a 50MP main sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) alongside a 13MP ultra-wide sensor. The Razr 40 steps down to a 64MP main sensor with OIS and a 13MP ultra-wide sensor. While the megapixel count might seem higher on the Razr 40, the larger sensor size on the Razr 50&#8217;s main camera could potentially lead to better low-light performance and image quality.</p>

<h3><strong>Battery and Charging</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones pack a 4200mAh battery, which is decent for a foldable phone. However, the Razr 50 boasts faster wired charging at 33W compared to the Razr 40&#8217;s 33W. The Razr 50 also offers 15W wireless charging, while the Razr 40 is limited to a measly 5W wireless charging speed.</p>

<h3><strong>Design and Durability</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones utilize a 6000 Series Aviation-grade Aluminum frame and boast an IPX8 water resistance rating, making them both highly durable and water-resistant. The Razr 50 comes in three color options: Moon Velvet Black, Elephant Gray, and Passion Orange. The Razr 40 offers Sage Green, Summer Lilac, and Vanilla Cream color choices.</p>

<p>The Razr 50 features a fifth-generation star track hinge, which Motorola claims is smaller, lighter, and more durable with a reduced crease. While the Razr 40&#8217;s hinge has undergone extensive testing, the newer hinge on the Razr 50 might offer a smoother folding experience in the long run.</p>

<h3><strong>Software</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 comes pre-installed with Android 14, offering the latest features and security updates. The Razr 40 launched with Android 13 but should be upgradable to Android 14 eventually.</p>

<h3><strong>Pricing</strong></h3>

<p>The Razr 50 starts at 3699 yuan ($509) for the 8GB + 256GB model, while the Razr 40 was launched at 3999 yuan ($550) for the 8GB + 128GB model. The pricing of the Razr 50 makes it a more attractive option for budget-conscious buyers.</p>

<h3><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>Both Motorola Razr phones offer foldable displays and a unique user experience. However, the Razr 50 emerges as the more future-proof option with its newer processor, larger and more functional cover display, brighter main screen, and the latest Android version.</p>

<h3>Moto Razr 50 Ultra</h3>

It features Corning Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, a vegan leather rear, and a 6000 series high-strength aluminum frame, with an IPX8 water resistance rating.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Motorola</a> is expected to launch its new flip-phones in the Razr 50 series soon. There will be two models in the line, a top-tier<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/razr-50-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Razr 50 Ultra</a> and Razr 50, the latter of which has now been revealed in full, courtesy of its appearance on China’s TENAA certification. </p>

<p>The listing reveals that unlike its predecessor, the Razr 40, the Razr 50 will sport a cover display measuring 3.6 inches in size with a 1056 x 1066 pixels resolution. It will be an OLED panel with 10-bit color depth.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Razr 50 TENAA certification" class="wp-image-627683" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Based on previous leaks, it is expected to be the yet-to-be-announced MediaTek Dimensity 7300X. It will be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="676" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-specifications.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-627684" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-specifications.jpg 676w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-specifications-300x266.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motorola-Razr-50-TENAA-certification-specifications-473x420.jpg 473w" sizes="(max-width: 676px) 100vw, 676px" /></figure></div>

<p>As for the cameras, the phone will have a dual-camera setup on the cover display with a primary sensor of 50MP and a secondary sensor of 13MP. The inner display will likely house a 32MP front-facing camera for selfies.</p>

<p>Keeping all this powered will be a dual-cell battery with a combined capacity of 3949mAh, likely to be marketed as 4200mAh. Charging will come at 33W, per 3C certification.</p>

<p>The Razr 50 will be quite lightweight at around 188 grams and will measure 171.3 x 73.9 x 7.2mm. The TENAA listing also confirms the presence of standard sensors like a gravity sensor, distance sensor, light sensor, fingerprint recognition, and face recognition.</p>
