MSI has bought its handheld gaming console to the Indian market. The Claw A1M was first introduced at CES earlier in January this year. Handheld gaming consoles are becoming popular lately. With the arrival of Claw A1M in the country, it will give customers an additional option before making a buying decision. This is because the ASUS ROG Ally is another handheld console available in India since last June.

The MSI Claw A1M carries a starting price tag of Rs 88,900 for the base model. The top-end variant costs Rs 99,990. As of now, the company has not revealed the availability and sale date of the handheld gaming console. We can expect this to be revealed in the coming days.

The MSI Claw A1M looks like any other handheld console with a D-pad, XYAB buttons, joysticks and triggers with hall effect. It features a 7-inch display bearing an FHD resolution and 120Hz variable refresh rate that changes refresh rate seamlessly without setting it manually.

Under the hood, the MSI Claw A1M is the first handheld gaming console to be powered by Intel’s processor compared to its competitors which are equipped with AMD chipsets. It is offered in Core Ultra 5 135H or Core Ultra 7 155H processor options. The device packs 16GB RAM and up to 1TB storage depending on the need. The console running on Windows 11. At CEW 2024, MSI stepped into the handheld gaming console arena with the launch of its MSI Claw A1M console. The console comes in two processor choices: the Intel Core Ultra i5 135H and the Core Ultra i7 155H.

The base model, priced at $699, is already listed for pre-order on MSI’s website and is scheduled to ship on March 12, 2024. Details regarding the availability of the higher-tier models are yet to be announced, but with the shipping date close at hand, announcements are anticipated soon.

Each Claw model boasts a 7-inch FHD (1920×1080) IPS touchscreen with a 120Hz refresh rate. The systems are uniform in memory, featuring 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 6400MHz. For connectivity, they include the latest Intel Killer BE Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, ensuring high-speed wireless connections.

Storage options vary by model, with the higher-end featuring a 1TB NVMe SSD and the base model a 512GB NVMe SSD, both using the Gen4x4 2230 interface for fast data transfer. All models offer rich audio with 2 x 2W speakers and support a range of peripherals through a Type-C USB port with DisplayPort and Thunderbolt 4 capabilities, as well as a Micro SD card reader.

The devices are designed to be portable, measuring 11.57″ x 4.60″ x 0.83″ in dimensions and weighing in at just 1.44 lbs. They are powered by a 6-cell 53Whr battery and come with a 65W power adapter. MSI also provides a 1-year global warranty for the Claw series.

At CES 2024 held earlier this month, MSI announced its first handheld gaming console called Claw A1M. The brand has now revealed the pricing of the device which was previously unknown. Recently, MSI also confirmed that it is playing the long game with the Claw and future iterations are already in the pipeline. Another report also mentions a key display detail of the Claw A1M. The handheld console from the company will see them compete against the likes of the Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Legion Go, and more.

The MSI Claw A1M is now listed on the brand’s official website. It starts at $699 for the base model with the Core Ultra 5 coupled with 512GB storage. The Core Ultra 7 with the same storage capacity is priced at $749. Meanwhile, the Core Ultra 7 with a large 1TB storage carries a price tag of $799. All three configurations feature 16GB LPDDR5 RAM and Intel Arc graphics onboard.

MSI has not revealed the release timeline of the Claw A1M yet. However, rumors suggest that it could hit the shelves before the end of March. We can expect the brand to share official details on the availability in the coming weeks.

MSI confirms VRR on the Claw A1M

The MSI Claw A1M has a 7-inch FHD IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The Verge reports that the brand has confirmed that the handheld gaming console supports VRR (variable refresh rate) between 48Hz and 120Hz. This makes it the second console after the ROG Ally to support the display technology. VRR continuously and seamlessly changes the refresh rate without setting it manually.
