A South Korean publication had reported in the previous week that LG V30 would be launching in August and the LG G7 will debut in January 2018. Today, a well-known tipster has revealed on Weibo that the LG V30 will be launching ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note 8.

Since the Note 8 is speculated to launch in August end, the LG V30 is likely to break cover earlier in the same month. The LG V10 was introduced in October 2015 whereas its successor had arrived in September 2016. The LG V20 is the first non-Google device to come with Android Nougat preinstalled. There is no confirmation on whether the LG V30 would be launching with Android O in August.

A report that is almost a month old had revealed that the LG V30 would be equipped with an OLED panel. According to the leakster, the OLED panel for the LG V30 will be supplied by LG Display. Previous speculations have suggested that the LG V30 may have a curved OLED panel. 

The Snapdragon 821 driven LG G6 is fitted with a LCD panel. The LG G6 features a 5.7-inch Full Vision LCD screen that offers an aspect ratio of 18:5 and produces a display resolution of 1,440 x 2,880 pixels. The LG V30 is now speculated to come with a Full Vision OLED screen. Previous have also suggested that the secondary ticker screen will be placed at the top bezel area of the screen.

The leakster further claims that the LG V30 will be driven by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. How will it compete with the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that will be coming with dual rear cameras? The tipster has revealed that the LG V30 will be equipped with dual cameras at the front and rear.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ were introduced with full-screen design at March end this year. In order to grab the attention of the market, LG debuted the LG G6 phone earlier this year during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

Going ahead in this year, the Galaxy Note 8 is slated to launch in August end and the next-generation iPhones totting full-screen design are expected to launch in September. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 are pegged to launch in October. Hence, instead of releasing LG V series phone in October as it did before, LG may want to launch the LG V30 earlier this year in August so that it can attract the market by arriving before the popular flagship phones.

During the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, ASUS had unveiled the ZenPad 3S 10 tablet. The 10-inch slate now has a new sibling as the Taiwanese company has introduced its smaller edition called ZenPad 3S 8.0 at the recent Computex 2017 event.  The company has also launch two new variants of ZenPad 10 in a subdued manner. ASUS has not introduced any smartphone at the trade show.

The ZenPad 3S 8.0 (model number Z582KL) comes with a 7.9-inch screen that produces resolution of 1,536 x 2,048 pixels. The larger model is powered by Snapdragon 650 chipset. However, the smaller model is fueled by Snapdragon 652 SoC. The ZenPad 3S 8.0 has a 4 GB RAM model that will be coming in two storage sizes of 32 GB or 64 GB. A cheaper edition of the tablet will be also available with 3 GB RAM and the same storage options.

There is a 13-megapixel camera sitting on its rear side and the front panel features a selfie shooter of 5-megapixel. It is running on Android 7.1 Nougat. The thickness of the slate is 6.9mm and the device features an aluminum unibody. ASUS has not revealed any information on the pricing and availability of the ZenPad 3S 8.0.

The two new variations of the ZenPad 10 are Z301MFL and Z301ML. Both the 10-inch tablets have identical appearance and feature almost the specifications. The Z301MFL is a higher-end tablet with 10.1-inch screen that supports a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. It is driven by MediaTek MT8735A SoC that features a 1.4GHz quad-core processor and Mali-T720MP2 graphics.

The ZenPad 10 Z301MFL will be available in model RAM and storage options such as 2 GB RAM + 16 GB storage, 3 GB RAM + 32 GB storage or 3 GB RAM + 64 GB storage. Other specs include microSD card, Android 7.0 Nougat, 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C port, 3G and 4G data connectivity, dual speakers at front, 5-megapixel rear camera and 2-megapixel selfie snapper.

It measures 251.77 x 172.17 x 8.95mm and weighs 490 grams. It is expected to come with some accessories such as Bluetooth keyboard dock. It will be available in color choices like Royal blue, Pearl white and Quartz gray.

The ZenPad 10 Z301ML has a 10-inch display that offers a lower resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. A slower 1.3 GHz quad-core CPU from MediaTek MT8753W chipset powers this slate. All the other specs of this tablet as well as its measurement, weight and color variants are same as Z301MFL model. Like the above tablets, ASUS did not reveal any details on its pricing and availability of ZenPad 10 Z301ML.

This year, HMD Global released a bunch of new Nokia Android phones. However, their MWC 2017 highlight was the announcement of a new Nokia 3310. The buzz around the reincarnated legend was even more than that of the other Nokia Android phones announced at the event.

The Nokia 3310 which is priced at EUR 49 shares some design similarities with the original model but also sports some new features. Features you best recognize as a fake has been reported sighted in China.

The clone is well made such that it can pass for the original but a few differences should keep you safe from falling for it. The image above shows the fake on the left and the genuine version on the right.

The first key difference is the homescreen. You can see they are outlined differently. On the fake, the menu button sits on the left instead of the middle and the “Go to” button is missing as well. The screen quality is also low and the fonts are different.

The other difference is the keypad. The keys are smaller and are coated with black ink on the fake unlike that of the original which are bigger and are coated in silver. The body of the fake is also coated in a paint of yellow that appears dull compared to the original. This last difference might not be very visible to those who have difficulties distinguishing colors but the others mentioned above should help.

The Nokia 3310 is just a feature phone that may not cost much, but if you end up with phones like this, you end up putting yourself at risk. Since it is a fake, it definitely didn’t get certified. Safety features like the SAR value may likely be below standard.

Less than a year after the launch of the Moto G4 and its siblings, Lenovo decided it was time for an upgrade, and that’s how the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus were born. Announced at MWC 2017, the Moto G5 is the smaller of the two.

The Moto G5 can be said to be a mixed bag of upgrades and downgrades. First, the overall design now looks like that of the Moto Z released last year. The rear camera has changed from the pill-shape design to a circular one. The back plate is made of metal and the battery is now removable. The display has been cut down to 5.0-inches but the resolution remains the same at 1920 × 1080.

Unlike, the G4  from last year the G5 now has a fingerprint scanner. The reduction in screen size resonates in the battery capacity too as it is now 2800mAh instead of 3000mAh.

But what does all these changes mean for the durability of the Moto G5? Surprisingly, it holds it’s own when YouTuber JerryRigEveryting put it through his cringe-worth durability test. It even outperforms the HTC U Ultra Which costs more than 4x its price.

Even with its low price, this is a strong device. If  you want a device that is not expensive, runs nearly stock android and doesn’t sacrifice quality for price, the Moto G5 is the phone to go for.

Nubia is a mobile sub-brand of ZTE Corporation. Unlike other sub-brands, Nubia kind of stands apart from its parent company, sporting a unique design language you won’t find on any other phone made by ZTE. The phone manufacturer announced a new phone, the Nubia N1 Lite at this year’s edition of MWC. Just barely two weeks after, they have teased a new device with dual cameras set to launch on March 21.

The teaser image was posted on the official Nubia Weibo page and has two spiral circles depicting the dual lens of the phone. There is also a catch phrase beneath it that translates to “See More”.

Some sources say the upcoming device was actually present at MWC 2017. The phone was said to be spotted in the hands of Ni Fei who is the CEO of Nubia, during an interview with China’s state television, CCTV.

If you look at the images below, you can see the phone is wrapped up in a case. It does have dual cameras positioned at the top left with the signature red coating around both sensors. There is also a pill shaped LED flash beside the camera setup.

Since there is no cut-out for a fingerprint scanner, the phone is expected to have one in front or on the side like the Nubia Z9. There is no news of how Nubia plans to incorporate its dual cameras, so we can’t say if it will work like that of the iPhone 7 Plus or like that of the Huawei P9.

The phone is rumored to come with a large memory and a powerful processor (maybe a Snapdragon 653 or a Helio X20/X25). The price is said to be about ¥1500 ($217).

Vernee made an appearance at this year’s edition of Mobile World Congress as a way to garner global recognition. They even had a prototype of their Helio X30 flagship, the Apollo 2 on display. However, due to a delay said to be from Mediatek, the Apollo 2 will be launching late. A press release has confirmed that Vernee’s first phone for 2017 will be the Apollo X and it will launch with VOS.

The Apollo X will be released this month and will be the first to launch with VOS (Vernee Operating System). VOS is said to be very close to stock android but will definitely come with some new features Vernee thinks is necessary to enhance users’ experience. VOS will also be available to all existing Vernee phone but the decision to use it will boil down to you.

The Apollo X is a special edition of Vernee’s Apollo series and will launch with a Helio X20 processor. The Helio X20 might be a chip from last year but it has proved that it can hold its own when it comes to performance and power consumption. The processor has ten cores arranged in a tri-cluster framework: 2 x Cortex-A72 clocked at between 2.1GHz to 2.3GHz; 4 x Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.85GHz; and 4 x Cortex-A53 clocked at 1.4GHz.

These days smartphone manufacturers are putting lot of efforts in providing unique features on their devices. ProTruly, one of the lesser known brands from China, was present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 to showcase a smartphone that boasts a strip of diamonds and a 360-degree rear camera.

Darling features a pair of enormous13-megapixel cameras with wide-angle fisheye lenses on the front and rear sides that enables users to shooter 360-degree images and videos. This unique feature makes it the first smartphone to arrive with an inbuilt 360-degree camera. It is also called the world’s first VR smartphone.

It lets users to preview the recorded videos in weird looking globes as it can be seen in the video. The 360-degree can be directly shared on sites such as YouTube, Facebook and other sites that support such type of videos.

ProTruly’s Darling comes in two editions. The standard version is priced around $600 whereas the high-end version carriers a pricing of $1,300, China Daily reported. The standard edition has a fingerprint scanner embedded on the physical Home button on the front side whereas the higher-end has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.

The camera housing of the standard variant is plastic whereas the higher-end variant appears like a luxury device that has a champagne gold metallic chassis that weighs 3.08 grams and it is flanked with a strip of four diamonds on the rear side fixed on a full-grain leather from Italy at its front.

As far as specifications are concerned, Darling has a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display and is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X20 chipset that features a 2.5 GHz deca-core processor. The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. The native storage provided on it is 64 GB. It comes loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Above the two fisheye lenses, the Darling smartphone has a 13-megapixel camera at the rear and a selfie snapper of 8-megapixel at the front. The VR camera mode in the camera app can be accessed to shoot videos and phots in 360-degree. It also features some a thermal sensor human body temperature without touching.

It also features a USB Type-C port. It has 3,560 mAh battery to keep the lights on. The phone will be exclusively available in China and will go on sale by the end of November. There is no information on its availability outside of China.

Fresh information coming from South Korea suggests that the Galaxy S8 was secretly showcased to select few during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 that was held between Feb. 26 to March 2. However, the official launch date of the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ is March 29. With the official launch drawing closer, the rumor mill has been revealing lot of information on Samsung’s upcoming flagship. A fresh batch of photos allegedly coming from a case making company have surfaced.

A Korean publication has revealed that Samsung had built a temporary makeshift demonstration room to showcase a prototype of the Galaxy S8 to the local media outlets at the Hotel Porta Fira. The venue is located very close to the venue where MWC 2017 was held.

Only those who had received special invitation were able to see the Galaxy S8 before its upcoming official launch. There was only a temporary wall to prevent others from viewing the flagship. Samsung partners who received could get the glimpse of the Galaxy S8 stated that it was “very impressive.” However, they did not reveal any details on the specification and features of the S8.

Also, no leaked photos have surfaced from the secret event. However, a case maker has reportedly reveal fresh and good quality images of the flagship phone.  From the images it cannot be confirmed whether the handset shown is Galaxy S8 or Galaxy S8+. However, some of the images carry “For Galaxy S8” text at the top whereas one image that shows the rear side of the phone carries “For Galaxy S8+” text.

The images suggest that the front is mainly occupied by the dual-edge curved screen with narrow bezels at the top and bottom. The display shows the presence of an on-screen Home button.

The image that seems to show the rear side of  Galaxy S8 Plus features the LED flash, main camera and fingerprint reader. Speculations have it that it could also function as a physical Home button.  The other images show all the four sides of the Galaxy S8. Both phones are expected to be available for pre-orders from April 10 and their shipments are likely to begin on April 21.

Google launched the Android One line back in 2014 as a way to offer low-cost pure Android smartphones to people without paying as much as they would for a Nexus or Pixel phone. The project is a partnership between Google and OEMs in various countries. The OEM handles the hardware and warranty side while Google handles software and security updates. One of the OEMs in the Android One Project is Turkish manufacturer, General Mobile and they have announced a new phone called the General Mobile GM 6 at MWC.

The General Mobile GM 6 is the successor to the General Mobile 5 Plus which was announced at MWC 2016. The GM 6 has a 5-inch HD screen with Gorilla Glass 4, 3GB of RAM and comes with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. There is 32GB of built-in memory with the option to expand it via a microSD card slot (128GB Max).

General Mobile was the first Android One OEM partner to release a phone with a Snapdragon Processor but surprisingly the GM 6 comes with a MT6737T chipset clocked at 1.5GHz.

There is a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and an 8MP camera up front with its own LED flash too. The General Mobile GM6 has support for 4G LTE+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS and has a Micro-USB port. There is also a fingerprint scanner that doubles as a home button and a 3000mAh battery under the hood.

The General Mobile GM 6 weighs 150g and measures 144 x 71.3 x 8.6mm. The manufacturer didn’t mention a date of release neither did it give a price but says it will be available in gold, rose gold and space grey.

After seeing the revolutionary 5X camera technology from OPPO yesterday, today another Chinese brand Meizu has taken the center stage at MWC 2017 in Barcelona with its amazing Super mCharge fast charging technology. Meizu already has a fast charging technology in its kitty but this latest Meizu Super mCharge delivers fast charging at supersonic speed.

The Meizu Super mCharge uses a new charge pump technology with a conversion efficiency of up to 98% in order to solve the reduction in efficiency caused by charging heat lags. Safety is also taken care of as the new technology also reduces the charge when the phone heats up too much. The Super mCharge comes with a power rating of 55W (11V, 5A), utilizing both high voltage and high current.

The technology was tested with a 3000mAh battery and the result is stunning. In just 5 minutes the battery had reached 30% from zero and that figure doubled to 60% in 10 minutes. As the percentage of charge increased, the rate slightly reduces but is still ferocious. In 15 minutes, the battery charge had gotten to 85% and in 19 minutes and 12 seconds, the phone was 100% charged. Meizu claims the Super mCharge is 3 times faster than the ordinary fast charge. It is also said to be faster than the Quick Charge 3.0 and VOOC fast charge technology.

The 3,000mAh battery, though, isn’t just any battery but Meizu’s new high-performance battery which can even withstand up to 4 times the current delivered by the Super mCharge. The battery is said to be manufactured using a new lithium-based material which is durable. Meizu claims that even after 800 cycles of charging, the battery still has more than 80% of its capacity, thus can last up to two years of normal usage.

Meizu did not disclose when we should expect to see the Super mCharge inside its smartphones but it should be expected with the next Meizu flagship smartphone.

After releasing the budget Nubia N1 last year, ZTE‘s elite brand Nubia has unveiled the Nubia N1 Lite at the Mobile World Congress 2017 in Barcelona. The Nubia N1 Lite does not rub shoulders with flagships like the LG G6 and Huawei P10 which we had seen at the MWC 2017 already but it sure deserves some bit of attention.

The Nubia N1 Lite, as the name implies, is a trimmed down version of the Nubia N1 but surprisingly, the device sports a 5.5-inch display, same with the Nubia N1. However, the specs of the N1 Lite are a bit scaled down like the display resolution which comes in a 1280 x 720p (HD) on the N1 Lite while the N1 came with a Full HD resolution. The N1 Lite is said to pack an unspecified Quad-core processor backed by 2GB of RAM while there is 16GB of storage onboard.

Further, the  Nubia N1 Lite features an 8MP main camera with f/2.0 aperture and dual-LED flash. Up front, there is a 5MP selfie camera which also has its own flash. There is equally a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear, just underneath the rear camera. The fingerprint sensor is touted to unlock the smartphone in just 0.3seconds. The N1 Lite runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS from the go and comes with 4G LTE connectivity. Keeping the lights on is a capable 3,000mAh battery.

OPPO makes really nice phones with superb cameras. Their OPPO F1s is even tagged the “Selfie Expert”. Today, it announced a new dual camera technology it calls 5X Precision Optical Zoom and from the looks of it, the Chinese manufacturer has managed to outdo itself.

OPPO teased the new camera technology last week when it confirmed it will indeed be attending Mobile World Congress 2017. Achieving 5X optical zoom in a smartphone’s camera is pretty difficult but OPPO has managed to do that by using a dual camera combination.

The 5X Precision Optical Zoom uses a telephoto and wide-angle lens setup but also includes a prism to divert light via a periscope. Since the setup is like a periscope, the second sensor is hidden inside the rest of the camera module. OPPO says shifting the light from its natural path results in a high level of clarity at any zoom level

The refraction of light in this manner allows the camera to zoom in on far away objects without the need for large lenses. OPPO’s  5X Precision Optical Zoom contains 50 components and comes in at just 5.7mm.

The hardware is just a part of it. The software also plays its own role by stitching together image data from both cameras when you zoom to mid-way levels.

There is also a new optical image stabilization that fine tunes the telephoto lens. A precise rotation of the prism’s angle in 0.0025° increments results in the stabilizer having a 40% improvement in performance over previous generation and in turn produces images that are sharp even when zoomed in 5x.

When do we see the 5X Precision Optical Zoom in a phone? Sadly, OPPO didn’t announce. So we might have to wait a while before we can put the new camera innovation to the test.

Its native storage is 64 GB along with external storage. Its 19-megapixel rear snapper can shoot 960 fps slow motion videos of 720 pixels. It has a 13-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera. It is packed with a 3,230 mAh battery. It runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS and features a IP68 certified chassis.

The Xperia XZ Premium is expected to cost around $799. Since it is running on Snapdragon 835, it is pegged to launch in April or May. It will be available in two colors like Black and Silver.

The Xperia XZs has a 5.2-inch full HD display and its powered by Snapdragon 820 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. Its internal storage is 64 GB and a microSD card slot. It features the same 19-megapixel snapper present on Xperia XZ Premium. It also features 13-megapixel wide-angle selfie shooter. It has a battery of 2,900 mAh capacity. It also comes preloaded with Android 7.0 Nougat.

The Sony Xperia XZs will be available for purchase in April with a pricing of $699. It also features a IP68 rated body and comes in color choices of Black, Silver and Blue.

Sony Xperia XA1 and Xperia XA1 Ultra Official Images, Specs, Pricing, Release Date

The Xperia XA1 has a 5-inch HD display whereas the Xperia XA1 Ultra has a 6-inch full HD edge-to-edge screen. Both smartphones are powered by MediaTek Helio P20 chipset. The XA1 has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage whereas its Ultra variant has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Both smartphones feature microSD card slots.

The XA1 and XA1 Ultra feature 23-megapixel rear cameras. The front-facing camera on XA1 is of 8-megapixel whereas an OIS enabled 16-megapixel selfie camera is present on Xperia XA1 Ultra. Both phones run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The Xperia XA1 comes with a 2,300 mAh battery whereas its larger sibling includes a 2,700 mAh battery.

The Sony Xperia XA1 will go on sale from April 26 with a price tag of $299. The pricing of Xperia XA1 Ultra was not announced at the launch event. It is pegged to be available for purchase by summer.

Nokia has officially three new phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 namely, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and an updated edition of Nokia 3310. At MWC 2017, Nokia also confirmed that the Withings wearables will be sold as Nokia products starting from summer this year.

In June 2016, Nokia had acquired Withings for $191 million. Withings is a French based firm that specializes in making smart health devices like smartwatches, fitness bands, connected scales, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, home cameras and more. Since Nokia is a well-known brand name, it makes sense for the company to kill Withings branding. The rebranding was officially confirmed by Cedric Hutchings, the Vice President of Digital Health for Nokia and the former CEO of Withings. According to Hutchings, ”Withings joined Nokia because we share a vision to inspire individuals to take control of their own health. With the full power of a brand recognized for trust, reliability and quality, we will reach more people and impact more lives to help the human family be healthier together.”

Nokia will be relaunching the Health Mate app from Withings with a new design. It will arrive as HIPAA-compliant Patient Care Platform that will serve as a common place to get information from all the health devices by giving users with a “360-degree view of health.” The app is expected to include ‘in-depth coaching programs” that will provide users with up to eight weeks of fitness plans.

Through the Patient Care Platform, doctors and health experts will be able use smart devices to monitor the health of their patients in order to provide them with timely treatment and prevent unneeded visits to the hospital.

The decision of rebranding Withings to Nokia has come at a time when there is less demand for wearables in the market. The sales of Fitbit health bands are declining and Pebble was acquired by Fitbit for $23 million as it met with financial troubles. HMD Global has relaunched the Nokia brand by releasing phones like Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and the updated Nokia 3310. With Nokia branding for health products, the company aims to broaden its consumer products profile.

Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy Tab S3 tablet and as rumors had stated the company has also released an official teaser to confirm the Samsung Galaxy S8 launch date.

Samsung has been launching its Galaxy S series smartphones a day before Mobile World Congress event since the past few years. However, this year it used the pre-MWC 2017 press conference to announce devices like Galaxy Tab S3, 10.6-inch and 12-inch Galaxy Book. The Galaxy S8 was not unleashed at the event.

The discontinuation of Galaxy Note 7 has allegedly resulted in the pushing back of the Samsung Galaxy S8 launch date. At the Galaxy Tab S3 launch event, the company also revealed a new teaser of the Galaxy to reveal its launch date. The teaser has revealed that the Galaxy S8 Unpacked event will be held on March 29. The launch event will be held at New York.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and its larger sibling the Galaxy S8+ would be the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 835 chipset. Recent rumors have stated that Qualcomm has allotted the first batch of SD 835 chipsets to Samsung to power the Galaxy S8 and S8+ units. Hence, smartphones from other brands running on Snapdragon 835 are expected to hit the market only after the release of Galaxy S8.

In the past week, Korean media had revealed that the Galaxy S8 would go on sale by April 21 across the world. Previous rumors had stated that the Galaxy S8 would be launching in South Korea on April 14. However, newer information suggests that factors like size of supplies has resulted in the pushing back of the Galaxy S8 release date to April 21 in the home country.

The LG G6, one of the major rivals of the Galaxy S8 was announced earlier today. The company did not reveal any information on its pricing, but it is expected to sell with a pricing of around $649 to $699. Its pre-orders will run from March 2 to 9 and its shipping will start from March 10.

Motorola has taken the wraps of the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus at this year’s edition of MWC. The Moto G5 and G5 Plus both feature a new all-metal design but apart from that brings nothing particularly exciting.

Moto G5

The Moto G5 is the smaller variant with a 5-inch display. The resolution has been bumped up to 1080p and there is Gorilla Glass 3 protection. There is a Snapdragon 430 processor, 2GB/3GB of RAM, and 16GB of built-in storage with a slot for expansion.

The rear camera is a 13MP shooter with dual-LED flash and PDAF while the front facing camera is a 5MP OmniVision 5693 sensor. Motorola has also kept to the trend of giving the Moto G series a water repellent coating. It now also sports a fingerprint scanner.

The Moto G5 due to the smaller display also gets a reduction in battery capacity. It now has a 2800mAh battery with support for Motorola’s 10W Turbo Charge.

Moto G5 Plus

The Moto G5 doesn’t escape the reduction in display size. It is now 5.2-inches, down from 5.5-inches in the G4 Plus. Resolution stays the same at 1920 x 1080 and there is Gorilla Glass 3. The Moto G5 Plus is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 processor, the same in the BlackBerry KEYone. Depending on the market, there is either 2GB, 3GB or 4GB of RAM and 32GB or 64GB of storage.

The Moto G5 Plus sports a 12MP Sony IMX362 f/1.7 camera on the rear with dual LED flash, slow motion video and 4K recording at 30fps. The front facing camera is a 5MP OmniVision 5695 f/2.2 sensor with display flash.

One new design you sure will like is the front-mounted fingerprint scanner. Last year’s square-shaped scanner felt out of place but the new one looks way better. It also doubles as controls for the phone in case you do not want to use on-screen navigational buttons.

The Moto G5 Plus has a water repellent nano-coating and a 3000mAh battery with Turbo Charge.

Both the Moto G5 and G5 Plus ship with near stock Android 7.0 Nougat and Google Assistant.

Moto G5 and G5 Plus Price

Pricing for the Moto G5 starts at 199 Euros (~$210) for the 2GB/16GB variant. There is no price detail for the 3GB variant. The Moto G5 Plus on the other hand is priced at 229 Euros (~$242) for the 2GB RAM/16GB model and 279 Euros (~$295) for the 3GB RAM/32GB model. There is also no pricing for the 4GB model. Both phones will be available for purchase in March in Lunar gray and Fine Gold.

Sony is launching a number of phones at Mobile World Congress but we are most concerned about its flagship for the year. A report from XperiaBlog has revealed that Sony’s flagship device, the Xperia XZ Premium will have a 4K display. An image of the device has also been released online.

The Xperia XZ Premium shares design similarities to the Xperia XZ released in October last year. The reflective chrome design, large top and bottom bezels and stereo front facing speakers still make a comeback. However, it packs a number of new features such as a 4K HDR display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, and a 20MP 1.22um camera.

The camera which is  said to perform very well under low light has a few tricks of its own. It can record slow-mo videos at 960fps; has Motion Eye (predictive capture); and an anti-distortion feature.

The Xperia  XZ Premium will retain the side-mounted fingerprint scanner, a bottom USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack at the top.

Mobile World Congress has begun and the first major launch comes from BlackBerry. Their first phone for the year is the BlackBerry KEYone, which was formerly known as Mercury. It’s not surprising the inspiration for the name comes from the phone’s physical keyboard.

The BlackBerry KEYone sports a 4.5-inch 1620 x 1080 IPS display that sits above a QWERTY keyboard. There is a Snapdragon 625 processor under the hood and a 3505mAh battery with QC 3.0 support for juice. The device comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, though there is a microSD card slot that accepts up to 2TB cards.

Like previously reported, the BlackBerry KEYone does feature the same 12MP Sony IMX378 1.55μm sensor found in the Google Pixel. The front facing camera is an 8MP shooter with an 84° field of view that records 1080p videos at 30fps. The KEYOne has NFC and features a USB Type-C 3.1 port.

BlackBerry’s target market for the KEYone are business professionals. It is evident in the design of the phone which pays homage to the BlackBerry Passport and BlackBerry Classic. It also comes with BlackBerry’s security software and a bunch of BlackBerry apps.

The BlackBerry KEYone comes with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and will go on sale in early April for $549.

The event officially opens on Monday, 27th of February and will run through to Thursday, 2nd of March but quite a number of launches are slated to occur today and tomorrow. So you should not be surprised that the schedule begins today.

Day 1: Saturday, February 25

1. TCL (BlackBerry): BlackBerry has shut down its hardware manufacturing phones. But there will still be new phones released by the company. What it has done is to license the name to a number of manufacturers such as China’s TCL and India’s Optiemus Infracom. However, today’s launch is by TCL and they are expected to launch the BlackBerry Mercury.Time: 7:00 PM CET,  11:30 PM IST,  10:00 AM PST, and  1:00 PM EST.

Day 2: Sunday, February 26

1. LG is expected to launch its latest flagship tomorrow, the LG G6.
   Time is as follows: 12:00 PM CET; 4:30 PM IST; 3:00 AM PST; and 6:00 AM EST.
2. Huawei’s launch comes after and like they have announced themselves, it is for the Huawei P10. The launch should also include the P10 Plus and P10 Lite.
   Time: 2:00 PM CET; 6:30 PM IST; 5:00 AM PST; and 8:00 AM EST.
3. HMD Global (Nokia): New Nokia licensee, HMD Global has scheduled its launch for tomorrow as well. We expect the Finnish company to announce the Nokia 3, the Nokia 5 and a new Nokia 3310.
   Time: 4:30 PM CET; 9:00 PM IST; 7:30 AM PST; and 10:30 AM EST.
4. Motorola/Lenovo: If you are in Barcelona already, you will have to choose which event to attend between Motorola and HMD Global’ events as both are happening at the same time. For those at home, you can just have two windows open and read/watch the event. Lenovo is expected to launch the Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus. There is no much excitement there as basically all info about both devices have been leaked already.
   Time: 4:30 PM CET; 9:00 PM IST; 7:30 AM PST; and 10:30 AM EST.
5. Samsung: Closing the day is Samsung with the launch of the Galaxy Tab S3.
   Time: 7:00 PM CET; 11:30 PM IST; 10:00 AM PST; and 1:00PM  EST.
6. Nubia: ZTE’s sub-brand Nubia is expected to release a new smartphone. There are no known details about the phone and the exact day of launch. So we guess we have to wait till tomorrow to find out what it is.

Day 3: Monday, February 27

1.  Sony: Sony kicks off the day with the launch of up to five Xperia phones including the Xperia X2.
   Time: 8:30 AM CET; 1:00 PM IST; 11:30 PM PST (26th); and 2:30 AM EST.
2. TCL (Alcatel): TCL continues its launch with another phone but under the Alcatel brand. The new phone is said to be modular, so you might want to keep a tab on this.
   Time: 9:30 AM CET; 2:00PM IST; 12:30 AM PST; and 3:30 AM EST.
3. OPPO: Chinese manufacturer OPPO has also confirmed it will be at MWC. The teaser suggests we will see a camera-centric phone with a 5X optical zoom. There is no info on the time.
4. Vernee: Another Chinese manufacturer attending MWC is Vernee. The devices expected to be announced include the Vernee Thor Plus; Thor E; Apollo 2 which is said to be the first Helio X30 and 8GB smartphone; Apollo X; and Mars Pro. There is also no time info for this launch.

Day 4: Tuesday, February 28

1. Meizu: Meizu teased a few days ago that it will be present at MWC 2017. The teaser hints at a fast charging technology, so we are not expecting any new phone. Some of their recent launches will however, be on display.
   Time: 10:00 AM CET; 2:30 PM IST; 1:00 AM PST; and 4:00 AM EST.

There is hardly any unknown detail about LG’s next flagship, the LG G6. From screen size to screen type, processor, battery and optics, we have covered it all. Notwithstanding, there still seems to be more details cropping up. What we have today is an image of the device in all the possible color variants it will be launched in.

The leaked image comes from Evan Blass (@evleaks) and we can see the LG G6 in Mystic White, Astro Black, and Ice Platinum. The Ice Platinum variant should be familiar already to those who saw the first real life image of the device.

The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 is drawing near. Huawei has been heavily pegged to announce the P10 and P10 Plus flagships at the upcoming event. Previous rumors have hinted that the company may also unveil Huawei Watch 2 smartwatch. Evan Blass, the well-known leakster has now revealed the alleged press renders of Huawei Watch 2 which reveals that it will be coming with a sportier appeal.

According to the leakster, the Huawei Watch 2 is codenamed as “Leo.” The original Huawei Watch came with a classy appeal, but leaked press renders suggest that its successor appears to have a very sporty look. It has a rugged appeal and it features two physical buttons on its right edge. The strap of the Huawei Watch 2 seems to be made of rubber.

Another render of the smartwatch suggests that it features a SIM card slot for cellular connectivity. A report from the previous month did reveal that the Chinese manufacturer’s upcoming smartwatch would carry support for cellular connectivity.

There is no confirmation whether the smartwatch would be supporting only 3G or 4G LTE networks. With cellular connectivity onboard, Huawei Watch 2 users will be able to use it as a standalone device to make phone and receive phone calls without the need of pairing it with a smartwatch.

The Huawei Watch 2 press renders reveals that it would be coming in three color choices such as black, orange and grey (with white speckles). The device is expected to run on Android Wear 2.0 and rival with the recently announce LG Watch Sport.

Rumors from the January month have claimed that it would be a 42 mm smartwatch featuring a 1.4-inch display. Even though fresh press renders of Huawei Watch 2 hints that it would be available with a sporty appeal, last month’s leaks revealed that it will be also coming in leather and stainless steel versions.

As of this writing, there is no information available on the specifications, pricing and availability of the Huawei Watch 2. These details are expected to get officially announced at Huawei’s upcoming press event on Sunday at 5 AM PST.

Meizu earlier today announced through its Twitter page that it will be showing off a new technology its been working on for over a year at MWC 2017. The announcement was accompanied by a teaser image.

The image is of a lightning bolt and has the text “faster than ever” below it. Its evident from the image that what Meizu plans to announce is related to charging. But we got a little info from an industry source to confirm.

According to the source, Meizu is planning to announce mCharge 4.0. mCharge is Meizu’s trademark name for its fast charging technology and it will be unveiling the 4th generation of the technology. mCharge 4.0 is said to use 9V4A, offering up to 36W of power.

Comparing that to Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 4.0, Meizu’s mCharge supplies more power. Quick Charge 4.0 on the other hand still uses 9V2A (18W) but is 20% more efficient than QC 3.0 due to its use of Dual Charge technology. It is also better as the charging temperature is lower by 5°c and has support for USB Power Delivery.

The internet was in a frenzy last week when news of the Nokia 3310 being revived was broken. You might have thought people would be less excited about a feature phone that was first released 17 years ago. I guess HMD Global must have been surprised about the way people took the announcement.

Today we have new details about the upcoming phone. According to the source which was one of the first to report the revival of the Nokia 3310, the phone will have the following features:

• It will remain a feature phone: even before HMD thought to re-release the Nokia 3310, there have been multiple renders of a new Nokia 3310 phone running android. Sorry to burst your bubbles, but this legend will remain a feature phone.
• Same Design Language: the design of the phone will not look much different from back when it was released in year 2000. The only changes will be in the weight and thickness. That should not come as a surprise as phone components have shrunk in size allowing for slimmer and lighter phones to be made.
• Larger Color Display: the original Nokia 3310 was released with a 84 x 84 monochromatic display but that will be upgraded to a larger color one. This new display will likely not be a high resolution type, so battery life should still be pretty strong.
• Colorful Variants: Grey/black, blue and ash were the default colors of the Nokia 3310. However you could swap them for a variety of colorful cases made by third party manufacturers. This time the phone will be launched in multiple color variants including red, green, and yellow.

One of the biggest tech events of the year, the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2017) will kick off in the next few days. The event starts on February 27 and goes on till 2nd March in Barcelona, Spain. Most of the top smartphone manufacturers will be present at the event, and we expect a lot of new products to be announced especially flagship smartphones. LG and Huawei have already confirmed that their flagship smartphones for 2017, the LG G6 and the Huawei P10 / P10 Plus respectively will be announced at the event. But we expect a lot more companies to participate in the release of new smartphones and down below, we take a look at what to expect from the top tech companies at the event.

Xiaomi:

For the first time, Xiaomi was present at MWC in 2016. We expected the company to do the same this year, but recently, Xiaomi revealed that they won’t be attending the event. Quite disappointing, as we would have loved to see the new Xiaomi Mi 6 being announced at the big event.

But there’s some consolation. Although the company is not attending the big event, it will release its first ever processor, code named Pinecone, on February 27 in China. That’s the same time as other companies are planning to announce their big products at MWC. Further, we would most likely see the first Pinecone processor powered smartphone, Xiaomi Mi 5C on the same day.

For the past few months, LeEco has been particularly quiet about its new releases. The company hasn’t officially confirmed that they will be participating at MWC 2017 but there were rumors that LeEco X10 smartphone could be announced at the big event. Now, it seems unlikely because we haven’t heard anything from the company yet.

Huawei:

Huawei has confirmed that it will take the wraps off two new flagship smartphones, the Huawei P10 and the Huawei P10 Plus. The new series will succeed the company’s first Lecia certified Huawei P9 models that were released with much fanfare last year. So, expect some powerful specs, especially in the camera department on the new Huawei P10 models.

Along with the new smartphones, the Huawei Watch 2 will also be unveiled at MWC 2017. The first gen. Huawei Watch is often considered one of the best looking Android smartwatches in the market and the new generation model will have to make sure that it takes things to a level higher.

Asus isn’t expected to release a new smartphone at MWC 2017, at least not a flagship one. But we are most likely going to see the recently leaked Zenfone 3 Go entry level handset at the event. The specs aren’t exciting, and if you are an Asus fan waiting for the next generation Zenfone 4, you’ll most likely have to wait a couple of months more, until May.

Nokia:

Nokia is back, and we already saw its first smartphone, the Nokia 6, which has received a pretty good response in China so far. But the fact that the phone is limited to China doesn’t seem fair for Nokia fans all around the world, and for them, we will most likely see at least two new smartphones from the company at MWC 2017, the Nokia 3 and the Nokia 5. Note that the model names are lower than that of Nokia 6, which likely suggests that the two models are going to be entry level devices, so nothing too exciting. Also, according to Evan Blass, Nokia could also revive the legendary Nokia 3310 feature phone at the event.

So, MWC this year is definitely something to watch out for Nokia fans.

Oppo:

Initially, we thought Oppo was going to let MWC pass this year without any significant announcements. But the company recently revealed that it did have something in store for smartphone enthusiasts, a 5X zoom smartphone. Now, before you get too excited, it’s probably going to be a prototype model showcasing the company’s new zoom technology. We are not sure whether we’ll meet a new smartphone featuring this tech as early as MWC. Let’s wait and watch.

ZTE rose to fame with its Axon series smartphones in the past few years, but at MWC 2017, we won’t be seeing any new Axon models. It will apparently make things like 360 VR, 4K videos and instant cloud storage on the go possible. Another interesting product that we may find at the event could be the ZTE Quartz watch,. It has already passed Bluetooth SIG certification and will run Android Wear 2.0 platform that was just recently announced.

Nubia:

Nubia also seems to be eager to showcase its new smartphone at MWC 2017. The company has confirmed that it will announce a new device, but we are not sure, which model it will be or what features can we expect. The teaser just says, “To Meet New Possibilities”, which could be hinting at improvements in the camera department. Nubia phones are popular for its design and camera tech, so something new in these departments can be expected at the event. Note that the phone will be announced on February 26, a day before the MWC officially starts, but the company will most likely showcase its new device at its booth during the event.

Coming to the non-Chinese mainstream companies, Samsung has confirmed that it won’t release the Galaxy S8 at the event. But we’ll probably get to see a new teaser at the event. Also, we do expect to see the recently leaked Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 at MWC 2017. Some mid-range phones may also be released at the event, but we don’t have any details about the same.

LG:

So LG has confirmed that the LG G6 will be announced at MWC 2017 this year. It should be one of the big smartphone announcements at the event, along with the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus. The company has been teasing the features of the device for the past few weeks and we already know most of the specs of the device, thanks to the numerous leaks, including its design. HTC:

HTC outrightly said that they won’t release a Snapdragon 835 smartphone at MWC 2017. But that doesn’t mean we won’t get any interesting devices at the event, as there could be upper mid-range models like the recently rumored HTC X10. Also, we could see some VR-centric products since HTC seems to be doing pretty well in this department.

Blackberry:

Ah, Blackberry, the company that’s surprisingly still in the smartphone business. The company has confirmed that it will be present at MWC 2017 and we expect Blackberry Mercury with a physical keyboard to be officially unveiled at the event. We have been hearing the name Mercury (and even seeing in hands-on pictures)  since the past few weeks and hopefully, we will get full details about the phone in the next few days.

Previous rumors have hinted that Sony is working an upgraded version of Sony Xperia XZ and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. These smartphones are expected to introduce a new camera feature called Motion Eye that would function like Apple’s Live Photos.

A leaked slide suggest Motion Eye will be world’s first memory embedded camera that would enable the camera on select 2017 Sony Xperia smartphones to start buffering when it detects motion. The feature will be able to shoot 4 photos in a second before the user presses the camera shutter.

As stated before, this function is similar to Live Photos feature that has been available on Apple iPhones since the launch of iPhone 6s in 2015. Samsung too is providing a similar feature called Motion Photo that is available on Galaxy S7 series phones.

The successor models of Xperia XZ and Xperia Z5 Premium are expected to feature it. The Xperia XZ’s successor is said to launch as Xperia XZs. However, previous rumors have also hinted that the smartphone would be called Xperia XZ 2.

The original Xperia XZ has a 5.2-inch screen. However, its successor is expected to come with a larger display. Some of its other rumored features include quad HD resolution support, Snapdragon 835/653 SoC, 4 GB RAM and LED enabled selfie camera. Speculations have it that it may be codenamed as BlancBright.

The Japanese tech giant is also rumored to be working on a premium flagship that is said to be codenamed as Sony Yoshino. It is rumored to come with a 5.5-inch 4K HDR display that would be supporting a 4K resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels.

It is expected to be driven by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB or 6 GB of LPPDDR4 RAM. It is speculated to be equipped with a stellar Sony IMX400 sensor. The Sony BlancBright is also rumored to include Sony IMX400 camera sensor.

The Japanese tech giant will be present at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Feb. 27 starting at 8:30 AM CET to unveil new devices. Speculations indicate that it will be unveiling midrange smartphones at the event. As far as Sony Xperia XZs and Xperia XZ Premium release dates are concerned, both the phones are expected to get announced in June this year. Some rumors also hint that the Sony may reveal Xperia XZ Premium’s prototype privately to the media and investors at MWC 2017.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus (expected to launch with Galaxy S8+ moniker) are expected to get unveiled officially at the end of next month. The exact launch date of Galaxy S8 is expected to get announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 on Feb. 26. As the event is drawing near, more and more leaked information of the Galaxy S8 models are surfacing. Evan Blass has managed to reveal a leaked specs sheet of the Galaxy S8+ that contains all the information on the features it will carry.

The Galaxy S8+ is expected to come with a 6.2-inch Super AMOED display. Counting the rounded corners the display would be measuring 6.1 inches. It is expected to carry support for Quad HD+ resolution. It is likely that the “+” mentioned here indicates that the smartphone it would be supporting an aspect ratio of 18:9 like the upcoming LG G6.

Even though the specs sheet does not mention it, rumors have revealed that the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus would be the first smartphones to be powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset. The Galaxy S8+ has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. It will carry support for microSD card. It seems that the S8 models won’t be available in 6 GB RAM option.

The rear side of the S8+ would be flanked with 12-megpaixel dual-pixel camera. It is said to be an upgraded version of the rear snapper present on Galaxy S7. For shooting selfies, it would be equipped with 8-megapixel camera.

Some of the other features of the Galaxy S8+ include 4G LTE, IP68 certified chassis, iris scanner, Samsung Pay, Samsung Knox, wireless charging and Nougat OS. The S8+ is expected to be shipped with earphones tuned by AKG, a brand own by Harman that specializes in acoustics and headphones.

As far as Galaxy S8 specs are concerned, it is expected to come with similar specifications like the Galaxy S8+. However, the S8 would be a smaller device with a 5.8-inch quad HD screen. Even though the Seoul-based company is poised to announce the Galaxy S8 launch date on Feb. 26, the rumor mill has revealed that it will be unveiled on March 29.

The Huawei P10 and Huawei P10 Plus flagship smartphones are slated to get announced officially in the coming week. Rumors have claimed that the only difference between the two smartphones is that the Huawei P10 is a flagship phone with a flat screen whereas the Huawei P10 Plus features a dual-edge curved display. The P10’s flat display can be seen in a leaked press render revealed by the well-known tipster, Evan Blass.

The Huawei P10 will be coming with a metal unibody chassis. The leaked render suggest that it will be supporting thin bezels. A physical Home button that houses a fingerprint scanner can be seen below the display. Its rear features dual-LED enabled dual camera setup from Leica. The Huawei logo is placed just above the center of the device at its rear.

Previous leaks have stated that the Huawei P10 would be featuring a 5.5-inch display that would carry support for quad HD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels. It will be driven by the home-baked Kirin 960 chipset that features an octa-core processor working at 2.3 GHz and Mali-G71 MP8 graphics.

The Huawei P10 with 4 GB of RAM is expected to be available in storage options of 32 GB and 64 GB. The flagship phone would be also available in 6 GB RAM option with storage choices of 64 GB and 128 GB. For photography, it features a 12-megapixel Leica branded dual camera setup and it has an 8-megapixel front-facing camera.

The Huawei P10 is expected to run on Android 7.0 Nougat OS clothed with EMUI 5.1 skin. It also features a USB Type-C port. It is rumored to include a 3,100 mAh battery with fast charging capabilities. It is pegged to arrive in color choices like Green, Purple and Blue.

In the previous week it was reported that the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus have received FCC certification. The 4 GB RAM / 32 GB and 4 GB RAM / 64 GB models of P10 are rumored to cost around $508 and $595, respectively in the U.S. The 6 GB RAM / 128 GB storage model is speculated to be priced at about $682. As mentioned before, the Huawei P10 Plus is also expected to come with specs and features and the only major differing feature that it will carry is its dual-edge curved screen.

The specifications, pricing and availability of Huawei P10 and P10 Plus will be officially confirmed on Feb. 26.

Gionee A1 and Gionee A1 Plus are the new selfie-centric smartphones from the company that are slated to get announced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in the next week. The entire specs of A1 and its leaked photos have been revealed by the rumor mill.

Recently, the Gionee A1 was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking site. It revealed that it runs MediaTek MT6755V/C octa-core processor.  The SoC is coupled with 4 GB of RAM. The Gionee A1 is expected to come preinstalled with Android 7.0 Nougat OS. On Geekbench, the Gionee A1 has recorded a single-core score of 699 and a multi-core score of 2,602. The performance of the chipset suggests that it will be a midrange smartphone.

Earlier this month, a Nepali tech site had received the alleged specifications of A1 from an anonymous leakster. It reported that the A1 is a dual-SIM smartphone that is equipped with a 5.5-inch full HD display that is covered with a 2.5D curved glass. The SoC of the device works at 1.8 GHz along with its 4 GB RAM. Its native storage is 64 GB and it will also support up to 128 GB microSD card.

The Android 7.0 Nougat OS on the smartphone would be customized with Amigo OS 4.0 from Gionee. For photography, A1 is pegged to feature a dual-LED enabled 13-megapixel snapper and it is expected to come with a selfie flash enabled 16-megapixel front-facing camera that will be able to shoot amazing selfies in dim lighting conditions.

A fingerprint scanner is placed below the rear camera. It is also rumored to feature an IR blaster that will allow its users to use it as a remote control. It is also rumored to house a 4,010 mAh battery that will support 18W fast charging. The leaked photos suggest that the smartphone features a full metallic chassis and the rear side of the phone seems to resemble the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3/4. The smartphone can be seen in Gold color.

It is expected to launch in Nepal on March 15 after its unveil at MWC 2017 on Feb. 27 at 11 AM.  It is expected to sell with a pricing of 35,999 NPR in Nepal ($336). According to Gionee’s press note, the A1 and A1 Plus may also release in other developing markets like India and Africa. The specifications of Gionee A1 Plus are not known yet, but it may come with similar specs and a larger display than A1.

While other manufacturers are choosing sides between AR and VR, some are investing in both. An example is Samsung, and according to latest reports, they have four AR and VR projects to show off at MWC.

The projects which were developed in Samsung’s C-Labs department are Relúmĭno, Monitorless, VuildUs, and traVRer. Lets take a look at each one.

Relúmĭno

This is a Gear VR app created to help visually impaired people read books and watch TV with new levels of clarity. What it does is enhancement of visuals and texts. It is stated that it has the “ability to remap blind spots by displacing images and uses an Amsler grid chart to correct distorted images caused by metamorphopsia” (a condition where straight lines appear wavy). Relúmĭno will also allow visually impaired people watch TV without needing expensive visual aids.

VuildUs

VuildUs is a combination of a 360° depth camera and a mobile app. It allows you to have a preview of what a piece of furniture would look like in your home before purchasing it. First, you need the camera to scan your home and build a VR version of it. When that is done, all you need is a VR headset and once you launch the app, you can shop for furniture and see how it fits into your home before purchasing. One advantage of VuildUs is that you don’t need to measure the space in your home before you purchase that sofa or coffee table as it lets you see if it fits in real time.

Monitorless

Monitorless is a pair of glasses that combines VR and AR together. What it actually does is allow you to view content from a computer or smartphone without the need for a display. You can access the contents of your phone by pairing the glasses via WiFi Direct. You can also mirror the content of your computer on your phone which you can then view through the glasses. The use of electro chromic glass even makes it possible to switch between VR and AR. The video should probably explain better.

traVRer

Last but not the least is traVRer. It is a a 360° video platform that you can use to explore popular locations around the world without leaving your house. It is similar to what Google offers with Street View but accompanied with sound and video.

The rumor mill has revealed plenty of leaked photos of the Lenovo Moto G5 Plus. Now, the fresh photos of the smaller model, the Moto G5, have also surfaced to reveal its sleek design.

As previous rumors have stated that the Moto G5 Plus would be arriving with a 5.2-inch screen. However, the Moto G5 would be sporting a 5-inch screen. Last year’s Moto G4 has a 5.2-inch screen and the Moto G4 Plus has a 5.5-inch display.

The leaked photos of the Moto G5 suggests that its rear panel is made of metal. Also, the back panel seems to removable which indicates that the smartphone features a replaceable battery. Hence, the Moto G5 Plus is also expected to come with a removable battery and back panel.

It has a round-shaped camera housing and an LED flash under the camera sensor. The front side of the phone shows a physical Home button that includes a fingerprint scanner. The Moto G4 has a square-shaped fingerprint scanner, but its successor seems to sport a slightly oval-shaped fingerprint reader.

The image showing the ‘About Phone’ screen on Moto G5 has text in Spanish language. The name of the device is mentioned as Moto G5 on it. The smartphone runs on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

The Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus sport a very similar design, but they will be arriving with different hardware specs. Leaked documents have revealed that the Moto G5 would be powered by Snapdragon 430 and 2 GB of RAM. Other features include 32 GB native storage, 13-megapixel rear camera, 5-megapixel frontal camera, water-repellant coated chassis, and 2,800 mAh battery.

On the other side, the Moto G5 Plus would be featuring Snapdragon 625 chipset and 2 GB of RAM along with a native storage of 64 GB. Other specs include 12-megapixel dual autofocus rear camera, 5-megapixel front camera, NFC, water-repellant coating and 3,000 mAh battery.

The Moto G5 and G5 Plus are slated to get announced on Feb. 26. These Motorola phones are expected to be available with a respective pricing of $200 and $250 in March.

The Nokia 3310 is a legend. Simply put. Though its glory days are long gone, news has it that this legend is making a comeback. Yes, the rugged Nokia 3310 is expected to be re-released with a modern feel. No one has an idea what will be added or what it will even look like but the guys at Concept Creator have made a render video of what they think it should look like.

First thing you’ll notice is they have stuck to the original design. The Nokia 3310 still features an alphanumeric keypad and still has its power button on the top. The major change is the display. Fore a more modern look, they have replaced the monochromatic display with a 1.5-inch color display. Another addition is a rear camera with an unspecified pixel count which lacks a LED flash.

The original Nokia 3310 did not have a FM Radio. The Concept Creator render fixes that, which is a great addition by the way. Another new feature is the micro USB port which replaces the 3.5mm connector for charging. The battery has also been bumped up from 900mAh to 1650mAh and there is now 8GB of built-in memory. Some original Nokia features still remain though, such as ringtone creation.

The Nokia 3310 has a polycarbonate body with Linex coating to retain the ruggedness of the original version. Another change you’ll notice are the dimensions of the phone. Even with the bigger battery, the render is thinner (113 x 48 x 14 mm) compared to the original which is 22mm thick. That should not be surprising as quite a number of the parts that make up a phone have not only gotten better but smaller.

The Nokia 3310 is expected to be relaunched at MWC 2017 alongside the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5.

Oppo has confirmed on Weibo that it will be present at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 on Feb. 27. Its teaser for the upcoming tech trade show carries “Go 5x further” and “technological innovations” texts which indicates that the Chinese smartphone would probably announce a new smartphone powered with 5X technology enabled camera.

In 2016, Oppo mainly devoted in releasing selfie-centric smartphones such as the Selfie Expert series that include Oppo F1s, Oppo F1, Oppo F1 Plus and other smartphones like Oppo R9, Oppo R9s and Oppo R9s Plus. This year too, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is expected to deliver better photography experience.

Another teaser for the same event includes the text “so close you can feel it.” The Oppo MWC 2017 teaser indicates that 5x optical zoom technology enabled smartphone would be unveiled on Feb. 27. As it can be seen, the teaser does not contain any direct information on the name of the device that will be showcased at the forthcoming event.

Sky Li, Oppo Vice President and Managing Director of International Mobile Business and Oppo’s Indian President said that “OPPO’s relentless pursuit of perfection without compromise has given birth to a remarkable technological breakthrough that will change how the world perceives smartphone photography.”

Li further stated, “This remarkable achievement is the result of an extensive, year-long R&D process, combined with OPPO’s unparalleled expertise in smartphone imaging technology. We chose MWC to unveil the ‘5x’ technology with the belief that we can inspire the industry to aim higher, and continue to create pioneering products that give amazing experiences to consumers.”

Oppo phones are also known for its superfast charging feature that is dubbed as VOOC Flash Charge. It can fully charge a smartphone with 2,500 mAh in only 15 minutes. Hence, there is some speculations that 5x may also indicate that a faster charging technology may get announced for its future phones.

VOOC was introduced at MWC 2014. Since the press material for the upcoming event states that the 5x technology “will give users unprecedented ability to capture highly detailed images,” Oppo is pegged to announce a 5x smartphone with stellar camera capabilities soon.

A recent IDC Survey revealed that Oppo met with a 122 percent year-over-year growth that has catapulted it the first position in the Chinese smartphone market in 2016. Oppo fans will have to wait until Feb. 27 to find out what is in store for them.

ZTE‘s subsidiary Nubia has teased that it would be launching a new smartphone on February 26 at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. The teaser was shared on Nubia’s Weibo official page and has as its caption “To Meet New Possibilities”

The launch will take place before the MWC which runs from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona. The teaser, however, did not state the smartphone that would be unveiled on that day but it is possible it is the Nubia smartphone that appeared on leaked renders weeks back, looking very much like a modified Nubia Z2.

The smartphone (pictured above) adopts the same design as the Nubia Z2, save for the fact that it doesn’t have a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. That props up the possibility that the smartphone would feature a front fingerprint sensor which would make it Nubia’s first smartphone with such feature. Also, the camera and flash sit on the same plane with the antenna band line on the top. MWC is just at the corner, so we’ll wait to see what Nubia has in store for us.

ASUS has launched the ZenFone Go 5.0 LTE in India. The company is expected to launch a very similar smartphone called ZenFone 3 Go in the home country of Taiwan and some other markets.

During a recent press conference, ASUS confirmed that it will be launching the ZenFone 3 Go budget smartphone and the camera-centric ZenFone 3 Zoom and the high-end ZenFone AR in the first quarter of this year.  Apart from snapping beautiful selfies, the ZenFone 3 Go will be able to make impressive live streams.

The ASUS ZenFone 3 Go features a metallic chassis that is flanked with a 2.5D glass on the front. Unlike the ZenFone Go 5.0 LTE, the ZenFone 3 Go does not feature volume rockers on the backside, but they are placed on the right edge of the phone. It is expected to arrive in color options like gold, rose gold and blue.

The ZenFone 3 Go is expected to feature a 5-inch display that offers a resolution of 720 x 1,280 pixels. It is powered by Snapdragon 410 chipset and 2 GB of RAM.

The native storage of ASUS ZenFone 3 Go is 16 GB. Its main camera is of 13-megapixel the features 1.4 μm pixel size and single LED flash. Its selfie shooter of 5-megapixel. It is also accompanied with an LED flash for better shooting selfies in low-light conditions. The device lacks a fingerprint scanner.

It is pegged to run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS that will be customized with Zen UI 3.0. Since it is a selfie-centric phone, it comes with beautification mode for adding videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Like the ZenFone Go 5.0 LTE, the ZenFone 3 Go is expected to come with dual microphones and five-magnet speakers with smart amp for impressive audio experience. The ZenFone Go is rumored to include a 2,600 mAh battery. Speculations also indicate that it may feature a USB Type-C port.

ASUS had announced the ZenFone 3 Zoom and ZenFone AR in the previous month at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017. The ZenFone 3 Zoom is going to sell with a pricing of $399 in North America and in Taiwan for 14,990 TWD. The pricing of ZenFone AR is not known yet.

Since both smartphones are now rumored to go on sale by next month and the ZenFone 4 is pegged to launch in May, the ZenFone 3 Go budget phone might get announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 later this month. It is expected to sell for 150 euros ($162).

It is not unusual for Chinese manufacturers to launch a phone with one name in their home country and another name for the international variant. An example is OPPO’s R9 whose international variant is called the OPPO F1 Plus. News as it that Huawei plans to do the same with the soon-to-be released Honor V9.

The Honor V9 is a dual-camera phone scheduled to launch on February 21. It will be available in 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM variants and will have a 5.7-inch 2K display.

A Russian website, Hi-Tech says a phone with the same specs called the Honor 8 Pro will be announced at MWC. The Honor 8 Pro will have a Kirin 960 SoC clocked at 2.4GHz, 6GB of RAM, up to 128GB of expandable storage and two 12MP cameras on the rear. The front facing camera is an 8MP sensor and there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. It will also come with Android Nougat out of the box.

The only difference between both devices should be the absence of the China Mobile logo present on the image of the Honor V9 above. There is no news on the Honor 8 Pro making it to North America but judging from the success of the Honor 8, it will be unwise not to do so.

Lenovo is all set to announce Moto G5 and Moto G5 Plus on Feb. 26. The Moto G5 Plus was spotted on Krtonix, a retailer from Spain ahead of the upcoming launch event. Moto G5 Plus Specifications

Moto G5 Plus features a 5.2-inch screen that produces a full HD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels that is flanked with Gorilla Glass 3.  It is powered by Snapdragon 625 SoC that is packed with a 2.0 GHz octa-core processor and 2 GB of RAM. It may feature a 4 GB RAM variant. The native storage of the smartphone is 64 GB and it also includes an external storage slot that supports up to 128 GB of microSD card.

Apart from the dual autofocus 12-megapixel camera, it has a front-facing shooter of 5-megapixel. The fingerprint scanner is present under the physical Home button at the front. It is loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat OS and also includes a NFC chip. It is packed with a 3,000 mAh battery. Earlier rumors have stated that the Moto G5 Plus edition that will head to Brazil will include DTV receiver feature.

Moto G5 Specifications

The Moto G5 is the smaller sibling of G5 Plus that includes a 5-inch full HD display. It has a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 430 octa-core processor and 2 GB of RAM under its hood. Its internal storage is 32 GB and it also features a microSD card slot.

The 13-megapixel rear shooter of Moto G5 is equipped with phase detection autofocus. Its front-facing camera is of 5-megapixel. Like Moto G5 Plus, it is also equipped with a fingerprint scanner embedded under the Home button. It will be also arriving with Android 7.0 Nougat pre-installed. It includes a 2,800 mAh battery.

The Moto G5 and G5 Plus smartphones appear similar in design and are packed with chassis that are equipped with water-repellent coating. Both phones come in color choices like Lunar Gray and Fine Gold.

Huawei is preparing for the launch of its next flagship, the Huawei P10. Scheduled to be announced on the 26th of February at Barcelona, the company has been posting teasers of what to expect.

Yesterday, the official Huawei Mobile Twitter account posted a short video hinting at the possible colors the Huawei P10 will launch in. A follow up tweet says the colors of the phone were “inspired by the bold colors on the New York streets during the fashion week”. Judging from the colors in the video, the Huawei P10 should be available in blue, aquatic green, and gold.

Last month, a Weibo user @ichangezone had posted images of the possible color variants of the Huawei Mate 10. Comparing those images with Huawei’s teaser now confirms his leak was genuine.

The Huawei P10 is expected to launch with a 5.2-inch display, dual rear cameras, and will be available in different RAM and ROM configurations. There will be a Plus variant with a larger 5.5-inch dual-curved display. That variant is even rumored as launching with 8GB of RAM.

Huawei has invariably confirmed that the P10 flagship with dual Leica cameras would be officially unveiled at MWC 2017. The confirmation comes in form of a video teaser which they released earlier today.

The video teaser has the hashtag “#HuaweiP10 is Coming!” ascribed at the top and the video itself projects the Huawei launch event billed for February 26 with the inscription Barcelona 26.02.17 embedded within the teaser. The company did not leave anyone in doubt as to whether the video teaser is meant for the P10 by inscribing the words “Huawei P10” at the end of the video. What the video seems to tease is even the fact that the P10 would feature a dual-lens camera setup at the rear. The dual cameras are expected to be similar to those on the Huawei P9, co-engineered with acclaimed German camera maker Leica.

The video accompanies several social media posts with the statement “Huawei P10 is coming”, so there is no doubt that the launch of the P10 flagship will hold at MWC 2017.  This has been the subject of earlier rumors and these rumors also tipped the P10 to come with a 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display. The P10 will be powered by an Hisilicon Kirin 960 chipset with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.3GHz, as well as a Mali G71 GPU for the graphics. Also listed as coming with the P10 is 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There may likely be more than one storage versions, with this one being the topmost. The P10 is also said to have a higher variant, the Huawei P10 Plus which was recently leaked on a Spanish retailer’s website as packing a 5.5-inch display as well as 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. There are reports that Finnish company HMD Global Oy is planning to release some new Nokia smartphones which will likely go by the names Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 at MWC 2017. The company is also said to be planning to use the springboard to launch the Nokia 6, which had been China-exclusive before now, in the European market and also to launch a modern version of the legendary classic Nokia 3310.

Already, HMD Global has confirmed its impending presence at MWC 2017 where it was tipped as planning to unveil a device with flagship specs. But according to a source familiar with the matter, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are a pair of budget smartphones which would be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat.

On the specs table, while the Nokia 6 came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display (1080p), SD 430, 4GB of RAM and a 16MP rear camera, the Nokia 5 is rumored with a 5.2-inch HD display (720p) but powered by the same SD 430 chip but with just 2GB of RAM, and a reduced 12MP rear camera. The reduced specs will, in turn, lead to a reduction in the Nokia 5’s price tag from that of the Nokia 6. Also, the Nokia 3 is expected with entry level specifications and also a far cheaper price tag than those of the Nokia 6 and the expected Nokia 5.

One interesting news emerging from this rumor is the existence of a modern version of the Nokia 3310 which is said to be in the works. Though only a feature phone, the Nokia 3310 is one of Nokia’s most iconic devices till date. Launched around 2000, the Nokia 3310 came with a durable build, cheap price tag, strong and long lasting battery and several features that made it stand out. It is, however, not clear how Nokia hopes to reinvent the 3310 without messing up the reputation of such a legendary device. We’ll wait till MWC 2017 to find out more about that.

There have been rumors of Huawei launching the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus on February 26 at MWC 2017 but those rumors have so far been unsubstantiated officially. Well, not until now. Huawei’s VP has indeed hinted that the company will be having a launch event at MWC 2017 but the device he tips as launching at the event isn’t the P10 or P10 Plus but the Huawei Watch 2. 

The VP in his Weibo post used some hashtags to tease the impending product, some of which are #HUAWEIWATCH2. #MADE FOR FREE SPIRITS, #Huawei MWC2017. We don’t need a soothesayer to tell us that the product is most likely coming at the Mobile World Congress. The teaser also suggests that the Watch 2 would likely be for sports persons.

Not much is known about the Huawei Watch 2 but it is definitely the next gen version of the Huawei Watch released last year. The Watch 2 is rumored to come equipped with Android Wear 2.0 operating system and a 1.4-inch display. The Watch 2 is also expected with a rubber and a leather strap, two distinct types to choose from. There is said to be a 42mm diameter dial on the device and perhaps the mst spectacular is that the device would come with SIM card compatibility, enabling users to make and receive calls. In addition, the VP also hinted that Huawei will be releasing a couple of large capacity mobile power bank which would have fast charging support.
