Meizu has tremendously picked up the pace with its smartphones released in the second half of the year. The first half of 2017 saw quite a few models released by the tech giant but now, soon after the launch of the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus as well as the Meizu Flow headset, the company has launched the M6 Note and recently, the M6. Now, there are signs the Meizu MX7 will be launched on October 11 by the tech giant.

The Meizu MX7 is supposed to be a flagship model considering that the MX series was Meizu’s flagship series until the birth of the Pro-series. The MX7 will take the reins from the MX6 launched around July last year packing an Helio X20 chip and a powerful 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor. The MX7 was expected to launch in September this year packing an Helio P30 chip, according to the leaked Meizu product schedule for this year that has so far been fairly accurate.

In this case, September is almost gone leaving the possibility of the MX7 launching in October. However, it must be noted that the teaser posters were not released officially by Meizu and cannot be found on any of Meizu’s official Weibo handles. This leaves room for speculation that they are likely fake. Moreso, we can’t vouch for the pedigree of the leaker. The teaser posters are also suggestive of the MX7 packing an in-display fingerprint sensor which Qualcomm says will only find its way into smartphones next year. Barely a day after Meizu officially unveiled its latest MX6 flagship, over 3.2 million persons are reported to have registered within the last 24 hours for the device’s first flash sales in China. The Chinese company officially announced this record number today revealing the popularity of the MX6 which packs a very powerful rear camera.

These figures don’t mean Meizu has sold over 3.2 million units of the MX6 in 24 hours but only represent the number of persons who have expressed interest in owning the flagship device which will be made available by flash sale on July 30.

Apart from that, the Chinese company also revealed key figures of the conference yesterday. It said that over 400 media websites reported about the phone’s launch. Full figures are revealed in the image at the end.

As a reminder, the Meizu MX6 brings with it a 5.5-inch 1080 display, powered by a deca-core Helio X20 chipset with Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, 3060mAh battery with fast charging support, a 12MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP shooter at the front.

Meizu unveiled the Meizu MX6 flagship earlier today in China. The phone comes with the deca-core Helio X20 chip with 4GB RAM and a powerful 12MP Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor. Soon after the event, the company executive, Bai Yongxiang (CEO) and Li Nan (VP) talked about the company’s future plans with the Chinese media.

In an interview, Meizu’s CEO made it clear that the company currently has no plans for a Notebook PC. This comes at a time when Xiaomi is expected to unveil its first ever laptop on July 27. Considering Meizu and Xiaomi often compete in similar product segments, it was possible that Meizu could be developing its own version of the laptop. But that clearly is not on the cards, at least for now.

At present, he said that the company wants to focus on its smartphone business. Further, he added that a curved screen smartphone from the company is possible in the future. We have been hearing many rumors as well as pictures of the curved screen phone from Meizu and this could be a good indication that such a device is really in the works. When asked about smartwatches, the CEO didn’t completely say that a wearable was out of the question.

As for today’s MX6 release, he believes that the phone will easily sell over a million units.

If the camera with IMX386 sensor is really better than competitors, then MX6 with its 1999 Yuan ($300) can turn out to be a pretty good deal.

The Meizu MX6 will be officially launched in 5 days (July 19) and according to a leak, it will be accompanied by a smart case with LED breathing notification light running around the edges.

The case which will be paired to the phone, has a LED light for various notifications such as calls, messages, and mails etc. We expect that there will be an in-phone menu (an app is not necessary) where you can toggle settings and customise the notification lights.

The smart case is said to be made of leather and will support sleep/wake function. There is no info about how the smart case will be powered as the MX6 doesn’t have a smart connector like the iPhone 7 Plus which can supply power to accessories. Our guess is that, it will have a built-in battery that can be easily replaced.

We love this new reinvention of the case. The last time we saw something this cool was with HTC’s Dot View Case which has been replaced with the Ice Case for the HTC 10.

Meizu also teased what appears to be a music case for the MX6. This case has a transparent window which shows a miniature version of the music player. It also features a vertical bar housing a button styled like Meizu’s “M” logo and a play/pause button. Just below the horizontal bar is a circular button as well for previous/next. We presume the ”M” button is to open the music app without unlocking the phone.

To end this, Meizu says it will allow other companies copy its home button but not the way it operates. Last year Meizu was sued by ZTE for copying their halo home button design.

Unlike other manufacturers, Meizu has a unique strategy when it comes to smartphones. It was one of the few manufacturers to use Samsung’s chipsets inside its flagship phones, and for other devices, it uses Mediatek and not Qualcomm chips. Further, it has become a tradition for the company to unveil Ubuntu edition variants of its flagship smartphones, and it looks like this year, the company will continue the same. So, after releasing Meizu MX4, and Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition, the company is now set to release the Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition model. Today, a few promo pictures of the device were leaked online.

This year it looks like the MX6 is getting the Ubuntu variant. The images confirm the model as well as the pricing, which will be 399 Euros. Another confirmation is the processor inside, which will be none other than the deca-core Helio X20 chip with Mali-T880 GPU.

Looks wise, there are no surprises. We already have seen a couple of back cover images of the MX6 in previous leaks, but this is probably how it will end up looking on the front. These images also confirm that the phone will feature the company’s mBack home button which should also have a fingerprint sensor on board.

Our previous experience tells us that the Ubuntu editions have specs identical to the regular Flyme powered versions. So, it is likely that the MX6 regular edition also runs on Helio X20. Other possible features similar on both the variants should be 4GB of RAM. According to the latest information, Meizu is expected to unveil the brand new device on July 19 but we haven’t received a confirmation from the company yet.

Meizu was quite busy last month, unveiling three new smartphones, including the flagship Pro 6. But the three earlier handsets won’t likely be the end of the company’s smartphone launches this year, as there are a couple of the other phones we can expect to see in the coming months.

Now three new smartphones from Meizu have just been spotted on the TENAA certification website. They haven’t been fully listed yet, so we have very limited information about their specs at the moment. However, since they have been listed, we can expect a lot more information soon. The first two models were also listed on the 3C certification website recently, you can read about that from here.

So, there are L681M, L681Q and Y685M models. The first two naturally are of the same phone but different variants. Our guess would be Meizu Metal 2. The Y685M should be the Meizu MX6 flagship.

As per earlier rumors about the MX6 flagship, it is said that the phone will come with Helio X20 chip inside with 3GB / 4GB RAM options and a 5.5-inch 1080p display on board. Other possible specs include a 3000mAh battery and 21MP rear camera. Along with the specs, we also have the rumored pricing of the handset. The MX6 16GB edition will reportedly start at 1499 Yuan ($230), 32GB at 1799 Yuan ($276) and 64GB at 1999 Yuan ($308).

Yesterday, we also saw a leaked image claimed to be of the MX6 flagship. It’s a plain looking design in metal and seems like an early prototype. You can see the picture from above.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about the Meizu Metal 2 handset right now.
