Mr Zhang had earlier purchased a Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus after reading on the company’s website that a stable MIUI update that will bring the full features of NFC such as the use of bus cards and bank cards will be released in late October.

Now that we are already half way into November, no update has been released yet and Mr Zhang isn’t happy. After writing to the company to table his complaint, he requested for a refund and compensation which the company has failed to respond to. He has therefore decided to file a suit against the phone manufacturer.

The suit is valid due to the consumer protection act which can hold businesses accountable for actions which can be deemed unfair to consumers. While the case is still pending, the court will most likely rule in favour of the plaintiff as the statement on the website led him to purchase the device in the first place.

Since this phone is launching tomorrow, there’s a possibility that the phone we reported yesterday as a leaked image of the upcoming Mate 9 is probably the Huawei G9 Plus. That phone does have a large body and dual cameras. It also has a fingerprint scanner, even though it’s positioned at the back.

Huawei Mate 9 Leak

There is still a lot we don’t know about the Huawei G9 Plus such as the camera configuration and if the processor type will be one of Huawei’s Kirin chips like the Huawei G9 Lite or a snapdragon processor. RAM and ROM details are also currently unknown. The good thing is we don’t need to wait for long to know these details as the launch is tomorrow.

NFC payments allows you to store card details (credit, debit, gift, loyalty, and membership cards) on your phone which you can use to pay for items or get access to places without having the physical card with you. MI pay works the same way. All you have to do is to place your NFC enabled phone (after launching the payment app) against the card reader and you’re ready to go.

Xiaomi already has a NFC-enabled phone, the Xiaomi Mi 5. So owners of this phone should soon get the service rolled out to them. The company has announced a number of banks that currently support MI Pay: China Construction Bank, Bank of Communications, China Merchants Bank, Huaxia Bank, Minsheng Bank, Ping An Bank, and Industrial Bank. They’ve also announced that more banks (Bank of China, Industrial and Commercial Bank, China Everbright Bank, Beijing Bank, and Guangdong Development Bank) will be added in September.
