Nokia has launched the Nokia 1.4 entry-level smartphone, a successor to the Nokia 1.3 released last year. The new smartphone comes with some improvements in the display size and battery capacity.

Talking of the specifications, the Nokia 1.4 features a 6.51-inch LCD IPS display with an HD+ resolution of 72-0+. The display uses a 20:9 aspect ratio. In contrast, the Nokia 1.3 sports a 5.71-inch display. Also, the battery is bumped up from a 3000mAh battery on the Nokia 1.3 to 4,000 mAh battery on this new model.

However, that didn’t come with a corresponding upgrade in charging speed – 5W is all you get and (worse still) it’s piped through microUSB. As always, HMD is promising 2 days of battery life.

The Nokia 1.4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 215 chipset which is a 1.3GHz clocked smartphone packing quad Cortex-A53 processor and paired with Adreno 308 GPU. The processor is paired with 1GB of RAM and packs 16GB of storage onboard which can be upgraded up to 128GB via microSD card. The phone also has a 3GB RAM + 64GB storage version.

The phone runs on Android 10 Go Edition from the go and Nokia hints the device will get Android 11 Go later on.

For photography, the Nokia 1.4 features an Oreo-style camera design housing two camera setups including an 8MP main camera and a second 2MP macro cam. The device also packs a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. There’s also the 5MP selfie camera.

Furthermore, the phone comes with two nano-SIM slots and LTE Cat. 4 connectivity. In addition, the phone also comes with Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, as well as a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and FM radio.

The Nokia 1.4 is expected to be available from today and carries a starting price of €99.

Last month, the entire specs of the upcoming Nokia 1.4 entry-level smartphone leaked. However, the handset is yet to go official. Now, ahead of its launch, the device has been certified by WiFi Alliance.

The WiFi certification of HMD Global’s Nokia 1.4 does not reveal anything new since everything about this phone has already leaked. But the certification suggests that it could be announced very soon.

According to the previous report, the forthcoming Nokia 1.4 with model number TA-1322  will be the successor to the 2019’s Nokia 1.3. It will be an entry-level smartphone priced around €100.

The handset will sport a 6.51-inch LCD panel and this screen is expected to come with a  dewdrop notch. The phone will be powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 1GB RAM and 16GB internal storage.

For optics, the device will be equipped with an 8MP + 2MP dual camera setup along with an LED flash at the back and a 5MP snapper on the front for selfies and video calls. On the connectivity front, the smartphone will come with a dual SIM card slot (4G + 2G), single band WiFi (2.4GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and MicroUSB port.

Other features of this phone will include a MicroSD card slot (up to 128GB), fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, Android 10 Go Edition, and a 4,000mAh battery.

Last but not least, the Nokia 1.4 will measure 166.42 × 76.72 × 8.70mm in dimensions and will be available in two colors, namely Blue and Gray.

Nokia is expected to launch several budget smartphones this year and some of them will likely be 5G handsets. The Nokia 1.4, which is the supposed entry-level smartphone, is also on the list. Today, the price of the handset has been leaked as per a report by Nokia Power User.

A Nokia 1.4 listing has appeared on a UK retailer egenisys. It shows that the device has a 1GB RAM, and 16GB storage variant. This corroborates with a leak that came out a few days ago. The device also seems to have a Blue Color variant which is one of the two expected colors(Blue, Grey).

The price, as you can see below appears as £83 which roughly translates to 94 euros. If this is true, the Nokia 1.4 will retail for under 100 euros and about $114 / 737 Chinese Yuan. To recall, its predecessor, the Nokia 1.3 launched at $99 in the US. Anyway, we will have to wait till the official launch to know the exact price.

Apart from the price, the Nokia 1.4 with model number TA-1322 appears on Thailand’s NBTC certification suggesting that it would come to Asian markets as well.

Nokia 1.4 Specs – Expected

Nokia’s next entry-level Nokia 1.4 device is expected to feature a 6.5-inch LCD display. This display will supposedly have HD+ resolution like the 1.3. However, the chipset so far is unknown but will likely be a 1.3GHz quad-core processor.

While we can’t compare the chipset without knowing about it, the display is indeed bigger than 5.7-inch on the 1.3-inches. As for cameras, the Nokia 1.4 is said to get an upgraded dual-lens setup with an 8MP + 2MP combo lens. Upfront, it will have a 5MP selfie shooter.

Other expected specs include a 4,000mAh battery, dual SIM(4G + 2G), 4G LTE, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, micro-USB 2.0, and a 3.5mm audio jack for connectivity, fingerprint sensor, and run Android 10 Go edition.
