2017 saw the return of Nokia to the smartphone market, thanks to a new licensee, HMD Global Oy. That year saw the release of phones like the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3, and the flagship Nokia 8.

All the aforementioned phones have received two major OS updates since they launched as well as regular security updates just as HMD Global promised. Now, the manufacturer is promising an extra year of security updates for them.

HMD Global says it will release quarterly updates for the phones. Starting from next month, the Nokia 3 will receive quarterly updates up until September 2020 while the Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8 will begin to get their quarterly security patches starting October 2019 up until October 2020. The security patch that arrives will also include changes from the previous patches.

Sadly, this extension will not include the US and Indian Amazon version of the Nokia 6. Updates for this version will cease in October 2019. The Nokia 2 will also stop receiving updates in November 2019.

Released in February 2017, the Nokia 3 is an entry-level phone and one of the first set of Android smartphones from HMD Global. It has already gotten three successors – the Nokia 3.1, Nokia 3.1 Plus, and Nokia 3.2 but that doesn’t mean it has been abandoned. Juho Sarvikas, the chief product officer of HMD Global announced today that Android Pie is now rolling out to the 2-year-old device.

The Nokia 3 has modest specs – a 5-inch HD display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage and a 28nm MediaTek MT6737 processor. It also has an 8MP camera on each side and packs a 2630mAh battery.

When it launched, it ran Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and later got updated to Android Oreo. HMD Global has promised two major OS updates for its devices and so far, it has kept that promise. The Nokia 3 is one of the last of its first phones to get the update. With it out of the way, the Nokia 1 is the only device left to get the Android Pie treatment.

HMD Global’s Juho Sarvikas has confirmed that company is putting every effort to cater the latest alteration of Android on all major and minor Nokia devices in the first half of 2019.

Particularly, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3.1 Plus will start receiving the update by the end of the week. It may take some more time to roll out the update in all regions. Well, whatever the reason is, your Nokia devices will be updated to the latest Android version within the next couple of weeks.

Nokia 6 2017 version is also on the list of getting the Android Pie update in a week or two. As per the Judo Sarvikas, the development team is just finalizing the phone’s Dolby Atmos audio features for Android Pie. All other work has been done and the development is in its final stages before hitting the floor.

The low-end Nokia 1 and Nokia 3 devices will see the update before the starting of Q3 2019. All other minor and major devices will also get the Android 9.0 Pie update in the first half of 2019.

Yesterday, HMD Global released the Android 9 Pie stable update for the Nokia 6.1. Today, it has announced the update is also rolling out to the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The announcement was made on Twitter by Juho Sarvikaas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global. The Android Pie update is 1349.5MB in size and brings a bunch of new features such as a new navigation system, adaptive battery, and adaptive brightness. The update also brings October’s security patch to the Nokia 6.1 Plus.

The Nokia 6.1 Plus was released this year as the first Nokia phone with a notch. It has a 5.8-inch FHD+ screen and is powered by the Snapdragon 636 processor. Google officially announced the arrival of Android 9 Pie and the company is already making it available to Pixel devices. After the Pixel devices, the search engine giant is expected to make the Android 9 Pie to devices that are listed under Android One program. Since HMD Global had confirmed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 that all Nokia smartphones above Nokia 2 will join the Android One program, many Nokia phones are expected to receive Android 9 Pie update earlier than other smartphones from other companies. Today, through an official blog post, Google has confirmed that all the Android One devices and other phones that have joined the Android P Beta program will be treated with Android 9 Pie by the end of the fall.

All the Nokia Android One phones that are slated to receive the Android 9 Pie update Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6), Nokia 5.1 Plus (Nokia X5), Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1. HMD Global will be holding a launch event on May 29 in Russia. The Finnish firm is expected to debut new phones that haven’t been announced before. Rumors are rife that the company may debut the 2018 editions of the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 2. A leaked photo of the rear panel of the alleged Nokia 3 (2018) smartphone has surfaced online. It reveals that the smartphone will be arriving with an updated rear design compared to the original Nokia 3.

The leaked image shows that the mysterious Nokia phone features a hard plastic rear shell like the good old Lumia phones. The rear panel of the original Nokia 5 was more rounded and curved towards the edges whereas the Nokia 3 came with a rectangular back panel. Hence, it appears that the rear shell in the newly leaked image could belong to the rumored 2018 edition of the Nokia 3 smartphone.

The changes that can be seen on the back panel of the alleged Nokia 3 (2018) is the inclusion of an elongated camera module that can be found on the recent Nokia phones. Below the camera module is a round-shaped cutout that could belong to the fingerprint scanner. The original Nokia 3 did not feature a fingerprint reader. The presence of a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner on the rumored Nokia 3 (2018) suggests that it could be arriving with a tall aspect ratio supporting display.

Last week, the Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, Juhi Sarvikas, hinted at the Nokia 5 (2018)’ existence when a fan asked about it. It appears it won’t be the only entry level/lower mid-range Nokia phone from last year getting a successor. Apparently, the Nokia 2 and Nokia 3 will also be getting new models this year.

Back in February during MWC, the CMO of HMD Global Pekka Rantala disclosed in an interview that there will be new Nokia 2, Nokia 3, and Nokia 5 models. A user agent profile has confirmed the existence of the Nokia 3 (2018) or Nokia 3.1.

The Nokia 3.1 is running Android 8.0 Oreo and that is the only information revealed by the user agent profile. The rest of the specs may leak later before the launch.

The Nokia 7 Plus also received an update that pushes it to Android 8.1 Oreo. The update is 590MB in size and brings along April’s security patch. New features include battery saving navigation buttons, a revamped power menu, new setting menu, and Bluetooth battery percentage.

The Nokia 7 Plus was released this year at MWC 2018. It has a 6” FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There are dual 12MP Zeiss sensors on the rear and a 16MP front-facing camera.

On the other hand, its battery is smaller with a capacity of just 2630 mAh. HMD Global has now started rolling out Android Oreo beta update for its Nokia 3 phone, which was launched in February 2017. The long-delayed update was announced last month and now, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas took to Twitter to announce this update rollout.

Users of Nokia 3 can sign up for the beta on the company’s site to get access to the Android Oreo update preview. After registering with device’s IMEI number and confirming mobile operator, users will get Android Oreo software update notification.

This new version of the Android operating system, Android 8.0 Oreo is around 1.6GB in size and brings a ton of new features to the Nokia 3, including Picture-in-Picture mode, notifications dots, adaptive icons, notification channels, system optimizations, and performance improvements.

The Beta Labs Program, under which users get access to the beta build of the upcoming software updates from the company, was started with Nokia 8 and later, it was extended to the Nokia 6 and the Nokia 5 as well.

To recall, the Nokia 3 comes with a 5-inch display having a screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, it is powered by 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek 6737 processor and it comes with 2GB of RAM. The phone packs 16GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128GB through a microSD card.

A new Nokia phone with model number TA-1048 has received certification from Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. Speculations are rife that it could be the Nokia 4 that was first spotted alongside other unannounced Nokia phones such as Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco through the Nokia Camera app APK teardown.

The FCC filing of alleged Nokia 4 with FCC ID:2AJOTTA-1048 has revealed that it will be coming with a hybrid SIM slot that will support a micro SD card slot and a micro SIM slot. Apart from this, there is no other information available on the handset.

It is highly likely that the Nokia 4 won’t land in China since the number 4 is considered as a bad omen. Since it has been certified in the U.S., it is likely to launch in the U.S.

Now, Juho Sarvikas, chief product officer at HMD Global, has revealed through Twitter that the Nokia 3’s Android Oreo beta update is “around the corner.”

While he has not revealed specific details related to the Android Oreo beta update for the Nokia 3, it is known that the update will arrive through HMD Global’s dedicated Beta Labs program. We’ll keep an eye out for more in the coming days.

In the same tweet, Juho Sarvikas also emphasized that the Nokia 2 — the cheapest smartphone from the company so far, will directly receive Android 8.1 Oreo update with memory optimization feature. This was earlier confirmed by the company.

While HMD Global will soon start rolling out Android Oreo beta version to Nokia 3, the company has already provided a beta version of the Android Oreo update for the Nokia 5 as well as Nokia 6. It is good to see that the Finland-based company has taken a proactive approach towards updates, both in terms of delivery times and communication.

Launched last year, the Nokia 3 features a 5-inch display with 1280 x 720 pixels screen resolution. The announcement was made on Twitter by Juho Sarvikas, HMD’s Chief Product Officer. Join the program called Nokia Phones Beta Labs by heading to this page, sign in (with Google/Facebook) and you should get an OTA in a matter of minutes or probably hours. This is quite similar to Google’s Android Beta Program.

This is a beta version, so there will most likely be issues. Though there is an app for sending feedback to HMD that comes with the update.

Mr. Sarvikas in a follow-up tweet says the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will come up next. There is no mention of the Nokia 7 but since Nokia already said all its phones will be updated to Oreo and Android P, be rest assured it will get it in due time.

In a separate news, HMD Global says the Nokia 3 will get an update to Android 7.1.2. Earlier this month, the company pushed out updates to the Nokia 6, Nokia 5, and Nokia 3. While the other two got updated to 7.1.2 Nougat, the Nokia 3 didn’t.

The person has spilled this information on Facebook and to prove that he is associated with HMD Global, he has even uploaded an image of a lanyard from the company in the post that reveals the launch time of new Nokia phones.

It appears that the person is not afraid of revealing leaked information on upcoming Nokia phones directly on a group conversation on Facebook. However, there is no way to confirm whether the information shared by the employee is true or false.

The Finnish firm has just recently announced the Nokia 8 flagship phone and it is not even available in many markets. Announcing Nokia 9 flagship in this year can disturb the sales of Nokia 8.

HMD Global had resurrected the Nokia brand by introducing new phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 event this year. Hence, it is speculated that the Nokia 2, Nokia 7 and Nokia 9 may get unveiled at MWC 2018.

In the previous week, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas had shared official images that revealed that the company is working on Android 8.0 Oreo update for Nokia 8. However, he did not reveal the exact timeline for the release of Oreo update. Today, the company has made officially confirmed that the Android 8.0 Oreo would be released for its smartphones before the end of 2017.

Mark Trundle who is the HDM Global’s General Manager for multiple regions like Australia, New Zealand and Indonesia has confirmed in a recent interview that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 would be updated to Android 8.0 Oreo before the end of this year.  This means that the Nokia 3 will become the cheapest smartphone to receive Android Oreo.

As far as Nokia 8 is concerned, since the company has hinted that it is testing Android 8.0 Oreo update for the smartphone, it is likely that it could become the first Nokia phone to receive the latest Android version. The Android 8.0 Oreo update is expected to be first available for unlocked variants of Nokia 3, 5, 6 and 8. Next in line would be the carrier variants of these phones.

The upcoming Nokia 2 entry-level phone is expected to come loaded with Android 7.1 Nougat. There is no information on whether it will be receiving the Oreo update.

As it can be seen in the above renders, the Nokia 2 would be probably coming in Black and Silver models. It does not feature a fingerprint reader and has a simplistic design with thick bezels around the display. The handset seems to be graced with polycarbonate chassis with rounded corners. Nokia 2 seems to be the first smartphone from the company to sport on-screen navigation buttons. The rear side of the smartphone has a camera, an LED flash and an external speaker.

Previous reports have revealed that the Nokia 2’s dimensions are similar to Nokia 3. The upcoming entry-level phone from the Finnish firm is expected to house a 5-inch HD display. It is likely to come in Snapdragon 212 (or 210) and MediaTek chipset versions for different markets. The chipset of the Nokia 2 is speculated to be accompanied by 1 GB of RAM. Moreover, the handset is also rumored to arrive in single-SIM and dual-SIM editions.

It is expected to arrive loaded with near-stock edition of Android 7.0 Nougat. The rear side of the phone may feature an 8-megapixel camera and it is tipped to house a 5-megapixel frontal shooter. A 4,000mAh mammoth battery is expected to power the Nokia 2.

In the previous month, HMD Global had unveiled the Nokia 8 flagship phone on Aug. 16. Since the Nokia 2 had already acquired FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification before the launch of Nokia 8, the rumor mill had speculated that both smartphones would be unveiled on the same date.

HMD Global is still silent on the launch date of the Nokia 2. However, looking on the date mentioned on the above renders, it appears that Nokia 5 may get unveiled on Oct. 5. As far as pricing is concerned, it is expected to be cheaper than Nokia 3 that is available for about $160. The Finnish firm is expected to make an official statement on its arrival very soon. The company is also rumored to be prepping on the launch of bezel-less Nokia 9 flagship that is expected to break cover before the end of 2017.

During the press meet, the company allowed its officials to answer queries on its old and new devices.

When Honor was asked about the arrival about the release of Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Honor 8 Pro and Honor 6X, the company claimed that the firmware upgrade would be released within few months. The company confirmed that these smartphones would be getting the Android 8.0 Oreo update by the end of this year. However, there is a possibility that the rollout of Oreo update for Honor 6X may happen in early 2018. Currently, the Honor 8 Pro is running on Android Nougat. The Honor 6X is also running on Nougat, but it was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

Apart from the Nokia 3310 (2017) feature phone, HMD Global has increased couple of Nokia phones running on Android OS this year. The Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 8 are all currently running on Android Nougat OS. A tweet released by Juho Sarvikas who is Chief Product Officer with HMD Global has confirmed that the all the Nokia Android phones including the Nokia 3 would be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo. However, Sarvikas refrained from revealing the exact timeframe of the release.

The Nokia 3 is running on MediaTek MT6737 chipset whereas the Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are powered by Snapdragon 430. Hence, some were speculating that the MediaTek chip powered Nokia 3 may not get the latest Android version. However, the Finnish firm has confirmed that the low-end Nokia 3 will be upgraded to Android Oreo.

In February, Nokia had released smartphones like Nokia 6, Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 and soon it will launch it will be introducing its second batch of smartphones. It seems that the arrival of the Nokia 2 entry-level phone is approaching fast as its leaked render has appeared and it has been also spotted on Geekbench benchmarking site.

In the past week, an image showing the frontside of the Nokia 2 placed alongside a drawing of Nokia 3 had appeared. It revealed that the shape and size of the smartphone is quite similar to the Nokia 3 phon. This suggested that the Nokia 2 would be featuring a 5-inch HD screen with on-screen buttons. Today, a new image of the Nokia 2 has appeared to reveal its frontside as well as backside of a light-blue colored variant

The Nokia 2 has rounded corners. Its bezels surrounding the display are thick. The top bezel has a selfie camera, an earpiece and a Nokia logo. The volume rocker and the Power key are placed on the right side of the phone. It seems that the handset is running on Android Nougat. There is no physical Home button below the display. The backside of the phone has single camera with its LED flash below it. A Nokia logo is placed at the center and an external speaker can be seen sitting at the bottom-left of the back panel. The image does not reveal the connectivity ports of the phone. However, it seems that it will be featuring a 3.5mm audio jack and a microUSB port.

The Nokia 2 handset has allegedly appeared as Unknown Heart phone on Geekbench to reveal some of its key specs. It confirms that the smartphone is running on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It is powered by a quad-core processor that clocks at 1.27 GHz which is coupled with 1 GB of RAM. The processor that is powering the Nokia 2 is speculated as Snapdragon 212. It has recorded a single-core score of 422 and a multi-core score of 1146. Rumors have revealed that some regions will be receiving Nokia 2 fueled with Snapdragon 212 whereas other regions will be getting MediaTek driven variant of the phone.

Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones are being released in various markets across the world. In January, a leaked slide had revealed that Nokia would be launching six to seven smartphones this year.  A Chinese leakster who holds a consistent track record about many leaks related to Nokia in the past has revealed that Nokia will be releasing 7 smartphones this year. Not only this, he has mentioned the list of 7 Nokia smartphones for 2017 along with the processor that will be powering each one of them.

The Nokia 6 that was unveiled first is powered by Snapdragon 430. Currently, it is selling well in the U.S.  The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 that were unveiled at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. These phones are respectively powered by MediaTek MT6737 and Snapdragon 430. The remaining four smartphones that are slated to launch in the second half of 2017 are Nokia 2, Nokia 7, Nokia 8 and Nokia 9.

According to the Chinese leakster, Nokia 2 will be available in Snapdragon 212 and a MediaTek processor. It indicates that Nokia 2 will be an entry-level smartphone. Some of the regions will be receiving its Snapdragon edition whereas other regions will be getting its low-end MediaTek processor version.

The Nokia 7 will be driven by Snapdragon 630 chipset and the Nokia 8 would be a more powerful smartphone as the Snapdragon 660 chip will be giving power to it. Previous leaks have revealed that the Nokia 7 would be coming with a single rear camera but the Nokia 8 would be equipped with a dual rear camera system from Zeiss.

An unknown Nokia phone with that had appeared on AnTuTu with Snapdragon 660 could be the Nokia 8 smartphone. The AnTuTu listing revealed that it would be equipped with a 2K screen, 6 GB of RAM, a native storage of 64 GB, a pair 12-megapxiel rear camera sensors and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The Nokia 7 may feature a full HD display.

The leakster has revealed that the Nokia 9 is powered by Snapdragon 835 which suggests that it is indeed the much-awaited flagship phone from the Finnish brand. Nokia 9 is expected to come with a 5.3-inch QHD display, 13-megapixel dual rear cameras, and 8 GB RAM and it is expected to be launch with a price tag of $699.

Nokia has confirmed that it won’t be releasing any Nokia Android tablets this year. Also, there won’t be any Nokia 4 smartphone as the number 4 is a bad omen in various countries. The Nokia 9, Nokia 8, Nokia 7 and Nokia are expected to debut at IFA 2017.

Nokia has started a global roll-out of its three android phones. Initially, only the Nokia 6 was available for purchase and it was limited to China. Now it is making its way to other countries along with the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5.

Latest report says UK will be getting the entry level Nokia 3 on July 12. The Nokia 3 is a 5-inch 720p phone with 2GB of RAM and a Mediatek MTK6737 processor. Built-in storage is 16GB but there is a dedicated microSD slot that takes up to 128GB cards.

The Nokia 3 has an 8MP primary camera with a f/2.0 aperture and LED flash and another 8MP sensor with autofocus as its selfie camera. Battery capacity is 2650mAh and it is non-removable. There is an audio jack at the top and a micro USB port at the bottom.

Like its siblings, the Nokia 3 runs Android 7.0 out of the box but there is an update to 7.1.1, plus Nokia says it will get Android O. Price is £120 (∼¥1055) and it comes in black, white, blue, and copper.

There is a possibility that the Nokia 3 may not be released in China. To be fair that is a smart move seeing as there are so many budget smartphones to choose from that even offers better specs and at a lesser price.

HMD Global Oy’s Nokia has made its foray further deep into the Asian market with the launch of its three new smartphone models in India. The mid-range Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 were all unveiled Tuesday in India and comes not too long after the new Nokia 3310 was announced for India. Nokia also disclosed during the event that from henceforth, all Nokia phones would be manufactured in India.

The Nokia 6 which is the most expensive of the trio will be the only model that would be sold online. The Nokia 6 will be exclusively sold via Amazon India while the Nokia 5 and Nokia 3 will be on sale offline via various retailers. As for the prices, the Nokia 6 comes with a price of Rs. 14,999 ($233) and will go on sale from July 14. Pre-orders are already being accepted and there’s even a Rs. 1000 discount for customers who pre-order using their Amazon Pay wallet before the registration period is over.

On the other hand, the Nokia 3 happens to be the cheapest, priced at Rs. 9499 ($147) while the Nokia 5 will sell for Rs. 12,899 ($200) in India. The two models (Nokia 3 & 5) will be sold via offline sales channels only. Despite being manufactured in India, the prices of all three Nokia phones seem to be on par with that of  Europe and China.

Nokia 3

Nokia 3 comes with a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHZ with 2GB RAM and Android 7 out of the box. There will be 16GB of internal storage, expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD. The display is of 5-inches with 720p resolution. At the back, the phone comes with an 8MP AF camera with 1.12um sensor and f/2.0 aperture with LED flash. The front camera is also an 8MP sensor with 84 degrees wide angle lens and display flash. Further, there is a non-removable 2650mAh battery on board along with NFC, USB OTG and Cat. 4 LTE support.

There are four color options for the Nokia 3 — Silver White, Matte Black, Tempered Blue, and Copper White.

Nokia 5

The Nokia 5 comes with a 5.2-inch HD display with 2.5D glass and Snapdragon 430 chip. There is 2GB of RAM on board, 16GB of expandable storage up to 128GB and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box. For the camera, the phone comes with a 13MP sensor (1.12um, f/2.0) with PDAF and dual tone flash. Up front, the phone has an 8MP shooter with 84 degrees wide angle lens. The phone also supports NFC and features a 3000mAh battery. There are four colour options; Tempered Blue, Silver, Matte Black and the unique Copper.

Nokia 6

The Nokia 6 is the top model, though a mid-ranger but it packs a Full HD 5.5-inch 1080p display, dual speakers with Dolby Atmos certification, Snapdragon 430 chip, 3GB of RAM, 32GB storage and Android Nougat 7.1.1.

HMD Global revealed last week that it plans to release its new smartphones globally before the end of June. It sure plans to keep its word. This week, the Nokia 6, 5, 3 and 3310 (2017) where launched in The Philippines. Today it has launched in Vietnam and next stop is India on Tuesday, June 13.

A poster  has confirmed that the invites sent out earlier this month for an event on June 13 is for the new smartphones. Although the official prices have not yet been revealed, there is a rumor floating round about the possible price tags.

The Nokia 6 is expected to sell for about Rs. 15,990 ($250), the Nokia 5 for Rs. 12,990 ($200) and the Nokia 3 for Rs. 9,990 ($155). Pre-order will begin on the day of the launch and shipping will start on the 20th of June.

The Nokia 6 is a 5.5-inch device with a Snapdragon 430 SoC. It has a 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera. There is a 3000mAh battery on board and Dolby Atmos enhanced stereo speakers.

The Nokia 5 drops the screen size to 5.2 inches. RAM is 2GB and storage is 16GB with an expansion slot. Battery remains 3000mAh but the rear camera is now a 13MP sensor. You still get an 8MP camera up front and Android Nougat.

The Nokia 3 sports a 5-inch display, swaps the SD430 for a MT6737 but keeps the same memory and storage configuration as the Nokia 5. Both cameras are 8MP sensors and the battery has a 2650mAh capacity. Like the other two, it also runs Android Nougat and will get updated to Android O.

It has been months since Nokia announced its trio of Android-running smartphones. However, only the Nokia 6 is available for purchase and its sale is even limited to Mainland China and Hong Kong for now.

Although pre-orders of the Nokia 3, 5, and 6 have begun in some European countries, a world wide availability hasn’t been mentioned yet until recently. New report says that Nokia plans to make its new smartphones available globally before the end of June 2017.

Nokia already announced that the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 will be manufactured at Foxconn’s factory in India.

The Nokia 3 has a 5-inch HD screen, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB ROM. There is a Mediatek MT6737 processor under the hood. It has an 8MP rear camera and another 8MP front facing camera. The Nokia 3 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat and is powered by a 2650mAh battery. It will sell for 139 Euros (~ $147).

The Nokia 5 increases the screen size to 5.2”but retains the HD screen. It also swaps the MT6737 processor for a Snapdragon 430 processor and the 8MP rear camera for a 13MP sensor. RAM and ROM remains the same as above. There is a fingerprint scanner and the battery is 3000mAh. Price is 189 Euros (~$199).

The Nokia 6 pushes the screen to 5.5-inches and raises the resolution to 1080p. Comes in two variants: a 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant and a 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM. Rear camera is a 16MP sensor but the front camera remains 8MP. It has the same processor and battery capacity as the Nokia 5 and also sports a fingerprint scanner. It will be available for 229 Euros (~$242) and Arte Black Edition (4GB RAM/64GB) for 299 Euros (~$316).

As Nokia had confirmed, the company is in the process of rolling out Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 smartphones in multiple markets across the globe. The company is expected to announce its next set of smartphones including its flagship phone by the end of Q2. Now, fresh hands-on photos of a prototype of the alleged Nokia 9 flagship smartphone have been revealed by a French online publication.

The rumor mill has been consistently claiming that the Nokia 9 is this year’s flagship smartphone. The leaked photos show the purported Nokia 9 hiding inside a protective box because of which it is not easy to make out it design.  However, it does reveal that the phone will be sporting a full metallic chassis. The rear shot of the phone reveals that the smartphone features a dual rear camera setup.

The leaked shots also reveal that the Nokia 9 will also feature a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack. Another photo shows a fingerprint reader (not clickable) placed between two capacitive buttons. The volume controller and Power key can be seen on the right side of the phone.  Another image reveals the specifications of the phone.

The above image shows that the Nokia 9 is codenamed as Heart. It suggests that the smartphone would be coming with 5.3-inch display that offers a resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels and it offers a pixel density of 577 ppi. It will be fueled by Snapdragon 835 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 64 GB. The prototype unit seems to be running a stock edition of Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS.

Rumors suggest that the phone features a pair of 13-megapixel rear-facing cameras. The image of the rear camera suggests that it features a laser auto focus and a dual-LED flash. Like the dual rear camera on Huawei flagships, the alleged Nokia 9 would be featuring a monochrome and a RGB sensor. One of the photos showing the camera app on the Nokia 9 reveals that it will offer the ability to stream live video to social sites like Facebook and YouTube. It will also users to snap photos the front and rear cameras at the same time. The two images shot can be arranged in a single photo. In an interview to the Times of India, Mehta has said that Nokia wants to make its phones available in various price points to different kinds of customers by the coming year. The company wants to offer its loyal fans with services like exchanging of old phones as well as credit facilities. To make the Nokia phones available to its customers, the Finnish company will be relying on its 400 distributors and 80,000 retailing partners. It will be also selling the phones through its online store.

Nokia is rumored to be working on alleged Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 smartphones that are driven by the soon-to-be-announced Snapdragon 660 chipset. A popular Nokia leakster from China has posted leaked images on Baidu that reveal the design of the rumored Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 phones.

The leaked sketch shows two Nokia devices. The one present on the left seems to feature dual rear camera module with “Zeiss’ text mentioned on it. It may be the Nokia 8 phone whereas the other one on the right may be its single camera variant that may arrive as Nokia 7.

The following image seems to show the front and rear of the same handset that is present on the right-side in the previous image. The rear design of these phones look different from Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. However, the front side of the Nokia phone in above sketch bears resemblance to Nokia 6 with similar design for the Home button. The bezels do not appear to be very thin. Hence, it may not be a flagship phone.

Recently, AnTuTu scores of an unknown device running on Snapdragon 660 chipset benchmarks was spotted. The mysterious device was spotted with specs like 2K display, 6 GB of RAM, 64 GB internal storage, 12-megapixel dual rear camera and Android 7.1.1 Nougat. There is no confirmation whether the unknown device is the alleged Nokia 8 phone that is speculated to feature Carl Zeiss dual rear cameras.

As previous leaks of Nokia 7 and 8 have revealed, the former may feature a full HD screen whereas the latter may house a larger screen. The Nokia 8 may come out as the first Nokia phone with support for quad HD resolution.  Both phones are rumored to come with metallic chassis and similar specs.

The Nokia 3, 5, 6 and Nokia 3310 are now up for pre-orders in parts of Europe. They were all initially billed to go on sale in the second quarter of the year which commences next month. Already, pre-orders for the Nokia3, Nokia 5 and 3310 are ongoing on the website of Dutch online retail outfit Belsimpel in the Netherlands. The listing doesn’t state when the phones will be available for purchase as it is only listed as “Available soon”. Also, UK’s retailers Clove and Carphone Warehouse have both put up all the Nokia new range of smartphones and feature phone for pre-order on their website. These listings only allow enrollees to get notified when the phones become available.

Although the smartphones all fall short of expectations in the hardware aspect, the mere fact that they are Nokia smartphones brings the possibility of a replication of the huge sales recorded in China. We’ll enter the second quarter of the year next month and do hope we’ll get to see the smartphones go global soon.

Just a few days back, Nokia unveiled the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and the Nokia 6 intended for the global market on the sidelines of the MWC 2017 in Barcelona. The three smartphones would join the refurbished Nokia 3310 in making their debut on the global turf in the second quarter of the year.

It has now emerged that the new Nokia smartphones meant for the global market will not ship from China but would be produced in India. As you would recall, the Nokia brand is controlled by HMD Global while production is in the hands of Foxconn, so the production would be carried out in Foxconn’s factory in India. This much was disclosed by HMD Global Vice-President for India, Ajey Mehta.

This, no doubt, is in recognition of the vital role the expansive India market plays in the survival of the Nokia brand under HMD. HMD plans to sell the phones in India via online and offlines sales channel and also has made arrangement for the establishment of a network of service centres to provide after-sales support in the local market. Sales of the Nokia phones will commence in June in the local market and very likely would start shipping immediately to other markets.

Nokia announced the Nokia 3 as going on sale for 139 Euros (~ $147) in Europe, while the Nokia 5 will retail for 189 Euros (~$199). The Nokia 6 will be available for 229 Euros (~$242) and Nokia 6 Art Black Edition for 299 Euros (~$316). The Nokia smartphones are expected to be cheaper in India since it is manufactured locally.

Nokia has officially three new phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 namely, Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and an updated edition of Nokia 3310. At MWC 2017, Nokia also confirmed that the Withings wearables will be sold as Nokia products starting from summer this year.

In June 2016, Nokia had acquired Withings for $191 million. Withings is a French based firm that specializes in making smart health devices like smartwatches, fitness bands, connected scales, blood pressure monitors, thermometers, home cameras and more. These products as well as its software will be rebranded as Nokia devices.

Since Nokia is a well-known brand name, it makes sense for the company to kill Withings branding. The rebranding was officially confirmed by Cedric Hutchings, the Vice President of Digital Health for Nokia and the former CEO of Withings. According to Hutchings, ”Withings joined Nokia because we share a vision to inspire individuals to take control of their own health. With the full power of a brand recognized for trust, reliability and quality, we will reach more people and impact more lives to help the human family be healthier together.”

Nokia will be relaunching the Health Mate app from Withings with a new design. It will arrive as HIPAA-compliant Patient Care Platform that will serve as a common place to get information from all the health devices by giving users with a “360-degree view of health.” The app is expected to include ‘in-depth coaching programs” that will provide users with up to eight weeks of fitness plans.

Through the Patient Care Platform, doctors and health experts will be able use smart devices to monitor the health of their patients in order to provide them with timely treatment and prevent unneeded visits to the hospital.

The decision of rebranding Withings to Nokia has come at a time when there is less demand for wearables in the market. The sales of Fitbit health bands are declining and Pebble was acquired by Fitbit for $23 million as it met with financial troubles. HMD Global has relaunched the Nokia brand by releasing phones like Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and the updated Nokia 3310. With Nokia branding for health products, the company aims to broaden its consumer products profile.

We reported earlier on that there are rumors that Nokia has plans to release three new budget smartphones at MWC 2017 in addition to the Nokia 8 flagship that has kept the rumor mills active for a while now. The smartphones were said to be Nokia 5, Nokia 3 and the classic Nokia 3310 feature phone.

The leak, however, failed to give details of the Nokia 3 features except that it would be an entry level smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat and having a price tag around 149 Euro. Other details were sketchy but some have been revealed right now. According to the latest leak, the Nokia 3 will come with  a 5.2 / 5.3-inch display with an HD resolution (1280 x 720 pixel). The entry-level phone is said to be powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 chipset and that will be backed by 2GB of RAM. There is also 16GB of storage space on the device which will also run Android Nougat, as stated earlier on. The graphics is taken care of by an Adreno 308 GPU while on the camera end, the Nokia 3 packs a 13MP rear camera as well as a 5MP front-facing camera.

We expect the smartphone to drop at MWC 2017 in Barcelona as earlier rumored. Already, Nokia has a launch event lined up for on February 26 and hopefully we’ll get to meet a couple of beautiful looking Nokia smartphones.

There are reports that Finnish company HMD Global Oy is planning to release some new Nokia smartphones which will likely go by the names Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 at MWC 2017. The company is also said to be planning to use the springboard to launch the Nokia 6, which had been China-exclusive before now, in the European market and also to launch a modern version of the legendary classic Nokia 3310.

Already, HMD Global has confirmed its impending presence at MWC 2017 where it was tipped as planning to unveil a device with flagship specs. But according to a source familiar with the matter, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 are a pair of budget smartphones which would be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat.

On the specs table, while the Nokia 6 came with a 5.5-inch Full HD display (1080p), SD 430, 4GB of RAM and a 16MP rear camera, the Nokia 5 is rumored with a 5.2-inch HD display (720p) but powered by the same SD 430 chip but with just 2GB of RAM, and a reduced 12MP rear camera. The reduced specs will, in turn, lead to a reduction in the Nokia 5’s price tag from that of the Nokia 6. Also, the Nokia 3 is expected with entry level specifications and also a far cheaper price tag than those of the Nokia 6 and the expected Nokia 5.

One interesting news emerging from this rumor is the existence of a modern version of the Nokia 3310 which is said to be in the works. Though only a feature phone, the Nokia 3310 is one of Nokia’s most iconic devices till date. Launched around 2000, the Nokia 3310 came with a durable build, cheap price tag, strong and long lasting battery and several features that made it stand out. It is, however, not clear how Nokia hopes to reinvent the 3310 without messing up the reputation of such a legendary device. We’ll wait till MWC 2017 to find out more about that.
