There had been rumors that the Android-powered <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nokia" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Nokia</a> phone may have been abandoned, but the new video may indicate the opposite.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-2.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-403619" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-2.png?x10805" alt="Nokia 400" width="694" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-2.png 694w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-2-300x176.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 694px) 100vw, 694px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The back and forth movement of the Nokia 400 feature phone traces back to April 2019, when it was reported that an Android version for feature phones was under development by Google.  A video surfaced online later that year indicating that Nokia was already deploying the new Android version for its feature phone.  <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/28/nokia-400-4g-feature-phone-with-googles-proprietary-gafp-os-may-launch-soon/">Subsequent details</a> revealed that the device could be called Nokia 400 upon release, and it was confirmed that it would run on Google Android for Feature Phones. However, a combination of events made the device still remain under the hood, at least until now. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-3.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-403620" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-3.png?x10805" alt="Nokia 400 feature phone" width="651" height="407" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-3.png 651w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-3-300x188.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 651px) 100vw, 651px" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The new hands-on video provided a close view of the first Android-running feature phone we&#8217;ve set our eyes on. The phone is no different from the regular feature phones. It features a tiny display, a T9 keypad, a removable back panel, and a matte polycarbonate body. The phone also features most of the basic functions connected with Nokia feature phones. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-403618" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype.png?x10805" alt="Nokia 400 feature phone" width="636" height="409" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype.png 636w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nokia-400-prototype-300x193.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The Nokia 400 also supports Google Assistant together with several apps that could be seen on the home screen. On the icon tray, you have the Google Chrome browser, Youtube, Share, and Camera icons. There is a button in the center to open the app collection. The app drawer contains pre-installed Airtel apps, and other common apps like file manager, calculator, Clock, Gallery, and so on. The Nokia 400 runs on Android 8.1.0 Oreo with 512MB of RAM. </span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">There is no way to verify at this time, the video relating to the Nokia 400 feature phone. If indeed the video was a current version, there are no hints of its pricing or availability. It is, however, believed that the Nokia 400 is made for the Indian market, going by some preinstalled apps found on the device.</span></p>

The classic Nokia 3310 4G was one of the first feature phones launched with such hardware and it turned out to be a success. Nokia is now working o a feature phone with 4G capabilities identified as Nokia 400 4G.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-302718" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="777" height="704" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification.jpg 777w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification-300x272.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification-768x696.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification-696x631.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-WiFi-Certification-464x420.jpg 464w" sizes="(max-width: 777px) 100vw, 777px" /></a><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-302719" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="1024" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432-300x127.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432-768x324.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432-696x294.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-TA-1208-Bluetooth-SIG-1024x432-996x420.jpg 996w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></a></p>
<p>The device comes with the model number TA-1208 and recently got <a href="https://launchstudio.bluetooth.com/ListingDetails/90065" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Bluetooth certification</a> as well as <a href="https://certifications.prod.wi-fi.org/pdf/certificate/public/download?cid=WFA90336" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Wi-Fi Alliance</a>. The certification also contained some key details of the device, one of which is that it will feature Bluetooth 4.2 and have support for LTE. It is said to be powered by Unisoc processor and feature the Wi-Fi component SC234X.</p>

<p>Furthermore, it is said to be running GAFP operating system which is likely a version of Android OS for feature phones. A video had emerged late last year which shows a Nokia feature phone working on Android 8.1 operating system. The device was listed as running GAFP OS  but there has been no sign since then that the company will actually venture in that direction.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-302717" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="976" height="393" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification.jpg 976w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification-300x121.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification-768x309.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Nokia-400-4G-TA-1208-BIS-Certification-696x280.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 976px) 100vw, 976px" /></a></p>
<p>The TA-1208 has also appeared on the <a href="https://www.crsbis.in/BIS/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BIS website</a> which is an indication that the device will be launched in India. We expect more information about the device to appear in the coming days.</p>
