<p><strong>Original Story</strong>:</p>
<p>Yesterday, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/HMD-Global">HMD Global</a> released the Android 10 update for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-3-1/">Nokia 3.1</a>. The update comes more than a quarter later after it was promised. Of all the devices scheduled to get the Android 10 update, the only one left is the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-3-1/">Nokia 5.1</a>, and there is a high chance it will be available today.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193737" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1.jpg?x44794" alt="Nokia 5.1" width="940" height="626" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1.jpg 940w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-768x511.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px" /></p>
<p>When the Nokia 3.1 Android 10 update announcement was made, a Twitter user asked Juho Sarvikas, the Chief Product Officer at HMD Global, when the update will be available for the Nokia 5.1. His response was “Give us like ~24h”. This means the update should be announced today or latest by tomorrow.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Give us like ~24h <img src="https://s.w.org/images/core/emoji/13.1.0/72x72/1f91e.png" alt="🤞" class="wp-smiley" style="height: 1em; max-height: 1em;" /></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The Nokia 5.1 was released in 2018 with Android 8.0 Oreo. The Helio P18-powered phone was updated to Android Pie last year and the coming Android 10 update will be its second major OS upgrade.</p>
<p>Since the Nokia 5.1 is the last Nokia device to be updated to Android 10, we expect HMD Global to release its Android 11 update roadmap soon. Actually, the roadmap was accidentally posted last month but the tweet was deleted. The shared image also had some missing devices, so there is a chance that the new one will have more phones on the list.</p>

After the Pixel devices, the search engine giant is expected to make the Android 9 Pie to devices that are listed under Android One program. Since <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nokia">HMD Global</a> had confirmed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 that all Nokia smartphones above Nokia 2 will join the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/26/nokia-smartphones-hmd-except-nokia-1-2-joined-android-one-program/">Android One program</a>, many Nokia phones are expected to receive Android 9 Pie update earlier than other smartphones from other companies. Today, through an official blog post, Google has confirmed that all the Android One devices and other phones that have joined the Android P Beta program will be treated with Android 9 Pie by the end of the fall.</p>
<p>All the Nokia Android One phones that are slated to receive the Android 9 Pie update <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-8-sirocco/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 8 Sirocco</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-7-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 7 Plus</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-6-2018-smartphone-full-specs-and-features/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 6 (2018)</a>, Nokia 6.1 Plus (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-6-1-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia X6</a>), Nokia 5.1 Plus (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-x5/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia X5</a>), <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-5-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 5.1</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-3-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 3.1</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-2-1/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 2.1</a>. Among these, the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to get the final Android P update by the end of this month since it is one of the smartphones that have been enrolled in the Android P beta program.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/06/android-9-0-pie-is-official-already-available-on-the-essential-ph-1/android-9-0-pie/" rel="attachment wp-att-204771"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-204771" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Android-9.0-Pie.png?x44794" alt="Android 9.0 Pie" width="763" height="445" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Android-9.0-Pie.png 763w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Android-9.0-Pie-300x175.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 763px) 100vw, 763px" /></a></p>

<p>Apart from Android One phones by HMD Global, other Nokia phones are also confirmed to receive Android P update. Around two months ago, Neil Broadley who is the global market manager of HMD Global had said that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/30/hmd-global-confirms-android-p-nokia-smartphone/">Android P will be made available to entire Nokia portfolio</a>. These means that other older Nokia phone such as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-8" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 8</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-7" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 7</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-6" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 6</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-5" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-3" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 3</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-2" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 2</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nokia 1</a> will be also treated with Android 9 Pie. However, as mentioned above, Nokia Android One phones will be the first ones to be blessed with Android Pie.</p>

The company has then announced that the most expensive 5.1 would be officially up for grabs starting from July. But starting from now, if you live in Russia, you can already pre-order a 5.1. The device has been added to Nokia&#8217;s official online store in Russia but, unfortunately, the listing price is not known yet. Alongside this device, another handset went on pre-order in the Russian official site of the Finnish brand.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-featured-1.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193697" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-featured-1.png?x44794" alt="Nokia 5.1 featured" width="677" height="488" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-featured-1.png 677w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-featured-1-300x216.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 677px) 100vw, 677px" /></a></p>
<p>We are talking about the &#8220;banana phone&#8221; <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/nokia-8110">Nokia 8110</a>. Unlike the Nokia 5.1, this is a classic feature phone, a revisit of the old and iconic 8110. But despite being a feature phone, it features the 4G LTE connectivity thanks to which you can surf the web with blazing speeds. The price listed on the website is RUB 5,990 which roughly translates into $95. Unlike its bigger brother, this device has already been launched in several countries, while the 5.1 is still not in the market. While waiting for it to go on sale, it is worth reminding its specs. Nokia 5.1 is much better than its predecessor as it features a way more performing SoC.</p>
<p>It is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P18 chipset running at a max clock frequency of 2 GHz. It will be launched in two configurations: one with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB ROM and another with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB ROM. It has a full metal unibody design made of solid 6000-series aluminum, as well as a 5.5-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio, a size of 5.5 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. The main camera is a single sensor with a 16 MP resolution, while the front camera has a resolution of 8 MP. Nokia 5.1 comes with a 2970 mAh battery and Android 8.1 Oreo installed out of the box.</p>

On May 29 the three devices were unveiled, but since that day we are waiting for them to hit the shelves. Now, the first info about their launch has started to surface. Nokia 3.1 has been spotted on listings of Amazon USA, but it is currently out of stock and listed as coming soon. This means that the company is probably getting ready to launch its new low-end device in the United States.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195574" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/3-2.jpg?x44794" alt="nokia 3.1" width="680" height="453" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/3-2.jpg 680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/3-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 680px) 100vw, 680px" /></p>
<p>Amazon U.S. lists the Nokia 3.1 with a price tag of $159, that is exactly the same announced by HMD Global on May 29. In the meantime, Nokia 5.1 has been certified by FCC in four variants. The versions are identified by the codenames TA-1088, TA-1081, TA-1075 and TA-1061. The first and the second variant are the ones with dual SIM slot, while the other twos are the single SIM variants with the support to NFC. According to HMD Global, Nokia 5.1 will be launched with a listing price of $219 which roughly translates into €189. The handset should be made available starting from July.</p>
<p>In case you do not remember, Nokia 3.1 and 5.1 are affordable device powered by 18:9 displays (5.2 and 5.5 inches respectively). The first has a low-end MediaTek MT6750, that is an octa-core SoC running at a max frequency of 1.5 GHz. The chipset is paired with 2 or 3 GB of RAM and 16 or 32 GB of internal storage depending on the chosen configuration. The device sports a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front snapper, while the battery has a capacity of 2990 mAh. Nokia 5.1 has a midrange MediaTek Helio P18 chipset, and the same memory configurations. Its main camera has a 16 MP resolution, while the secondary one is 8 MP. The battery has a 2970 mAh capacity.</p>

Both phones which will go buy the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 monikers come with 18:9 displays.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193691" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-featured.png?x44794" alt="Nokia 3.1" width="1095" height="636" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-featured.png 1095w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-featured-300x174.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-featured-768x446.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-featured-1024x595.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1095px) 100vw, 1095px" /></p>
<h4><strong>Nokia 3.1</strong></h4>
<p>The Nokia 3.1 comes with a bigger 5.2-inch screen but is just a tad taller than its predecessor thanks to its reduced bezel and 18:9 display screen ratio. The device should be smaller but the lower bezel doesn&#8217;t seem to have been cut at all.</p>
<p>The 5.2-inch screen has a 1440 x 720 resolution and is covered with Gorilla Glass. There is a MediaTek MT6750N processor clocked at 1.5GHz under the hood. It is paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage.</p>
<p>The Nokia 3.1 has a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera and an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera with an 84.6° field of view. For connectivity, there is Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also comes with a 2990mAh battery.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193688" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-Color-variants.jpg?x44794" alt="Nokia 3.1 Color variants" width="1713" height="793" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-Color-variants.jpg 1713w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-Color-variants-300x139.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-Color-variants-768x356.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-3.1-Color-variants-1024x474.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1713px) 100vw, 1713px" /></p>
<p>Unlike the first-gen Nokia 3, the Nokia 3.1 launches under the Android One program. This shouldn&#8217;t be surprising as HMD Global already announced following the launch of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nokia-8-sirocco/">Nokia 8 Sirocco</a> that future Nokia phones will be Android One phones.</p>
<p>The Nokia 3.1 will come in Blue Copper, Black Chrome, and White Iron. It will sell for €139 and €169 for the 2GB and 3GB variants respectively and goes on sale this month.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193689" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1.png?x44794" alt="Nokia 5.1" width="1119" height="646" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1.png 1119w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-300x173.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-768x443.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-1024x591.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1119px) 100vw, 1119px" /></p>
<h4><strong>Nokia 5.1</strong></h4>
<p>The Nokia 5.1 comes with a 5.5-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution. It measures 151.1 x 70.73 x 8.27 mm making it just a tiny bit taller than the first-gen model.</p>
<p>Powering the Nokia 5.1 is a MediaTek MT6755S octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. Depending on the model, you either get 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage or 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is storage expansion available.</p>
<p>A 16MP sensor with PDAF sits at the back of the device and an 8MP camera is positioned above the display. The new aspect ratio has resulted in Nokia moving the fingerprint scanner to the back of the device. It now sits below the camera setup.</p>
<p>The Nokia 5.1 has a 3000mAh battery, a USB-C port, and a single speaker. It also runs the latest version of Android Oreo out of the box. Just like the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 3.1, the Nokia 5.1 is also an Android One phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193692" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-Color-Variants.png?x44794" alt="Nokia 5.1 Color Variants" width="1853" height="833" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-Color-Variants.png 1853w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-Color-Variants-300x135.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-Color-Variants-768x345.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-5.1-Color-Variants-1024x460.png 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1853px) 100vw, 1853px" /></p>
<p>It will be available in Copper, Tempered Blue, and Black. It will go on sale in July for €189 and €219 for the 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM versions respectively.</p>
