Android 10 brings lots of new features to the Nokia 7 Plus such as Dark Mode, Smart Reply, Sound Amplifier, Suggested Actions, Family Link parental controls, site and app timers, gesture navigation, and more control over your privacy and location data. The update for the Nokia 6.1 Plus comes with December 2019’s security patch, so we expect the same for the Nokia 7 Plus.

The Nokia 7 Plus was announced in 2018. It ran Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box and was updated to Android Pie the same year. The Nokia 7 Plus has a 6.0-inch display with an FHD+ resolution. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and supports 403 ppi density along with a 77.2% screen-to-body ratio. It comes powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset coupled with an Octa-Core processor and Adreno 512 GPU.

A few days ago, there were reports that HMD Global was sending user data to China. The affected model is the Nokia 7 Plus and the issue was reported to affect several units of the phone sold in Norway. Yesterday, HMD Global released an official statement to clear the air on the matter.

According to the Finnish company which manufactures its phones in China via FIH Mobile, the Foxconn subsidiary, the Nokia 7 Plus didn’t share personal data with any third party. What the phones did send to a third party server in China is actually device activation data. However, this shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

Apparently, a certain batch of Nokia 7 Plus meant for countries outside China had the device activation client for China mistakenly installed on them, instead of that of the right country variant. HMD Global says the issue was fixed in February and almost all owners of the Nokia 7 Plus from the affected batch have installed the fix.

Nokia 7 Plus devices that already have the fix installed have build number “00WW_3_39B_SP03” or “00WW_3_22C_SP05”. You can check the build number by going to Settings > System > About Phone > and then scroll down to “Build Number”.

HMD Global says only devices sold in China have their data stored in China while the user activation data and user experience data (for those who opt-in for the latter) of the global variants are stored on their (HMD Global) servers in Singapore which is provided by Amazon Web Services.

The manufacturer also debunked the rumor that other Nokia phones are sharing user data with third-party servers. “We can confirm that this is incorrect speculation and no Nokia phones are impacted.”. HMD Global also used the opportunity to reassure users that it takes their privacy and security seriously and complies with applicable privacy laws.

New important software-related elements are now available for three of the most important smartphones from HMD Global: the new Nokia 8.1 and the older Nokia 7 Plus and 8. The Finnish brand just released the kernel source code for the Nokia 8.1 and 7 Plus. In case you never heard about it, it is a component which plays a key role in the development of custom ROMs and kernels allowing to customize a smartphone in a radical way by completely modifying its operating system. By releasing the kernel source code for these handsets, HMD Global accomplished the GPL (General Public License) rules which say that modified source code should always be published in readable format once it is compiled and distributed by smartphones manufacturers.

But don’t expect out of the ordinary custom ROM development for Nokia 8.1 and 7 Plus because currently these devices cannot be unlocked. Indeed, Nokia 8 is the only device released by HMD Global on which you can unlock the bootloader since September last year. Even though they are part of the Android One program providing a stock experience with the operating system, Nokia phones aren’t really the devices which can be considered as suitable for modding. Coming to the Nokia 8 which offers more options for modding, it just received the support to the Pixel’s 3 Night Sight camera mode thanks to a ported camera app.

The app we are talking about is Google Camera and the new Night Sight feature announced with the Pixel 3 line-up allows capturing all the relevant details and clicking bright shots even when light conditions are disappointing. The ported Google Camera app is available for all the units of the Nokia 8 with Android Oreo and Android Pie installed and it is around 110 MB. The app can even be installed on several other devices from HMD Global, including all the devices starting from the original Nokia 5.

After months of running on the beta version, HMD Global has finally released a stable version of Android Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus.

The Nokia 7 Plus was one of the few non-Pixel devices that got support for Android P Beta. Even after the stable update was released, the Nokia 7 Plus kept receiving beta updates. Now, two months after the release of the stable update, owners of the Nokia 7 Plus will be happy to update to a stable version of Android Pie.

The Android Pie update brings a ton of new features such as a new navigation system (can be changed back to the old one), adaptive battery, adaptive brightness, and a dashboard app (Digital Wellbeing) to help you keep track of your phone usage habit. HMD Global had earlier confirmed that the Nokia 7 Plus will be receiving stable Android Pie update by the end of September. A couple of weeks ago, the phone received an update, but that was another Android Pie Developer Preview Beta version and not the stable one.

With September coming to an end, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas has taken to Twitter to announced that the Android Pie update for the Nokia 7 Plus has been delayed due to “a couple of tricky platform specific certification bugs.”

However, he added that the bugs have been squashed and the company is “running final round of tests for quality assurance” of Android Pie for the phone. But he has not yet revealed the exact timeline for the rollout of the update.

We are expecting that the rollout of stable Android 9.0 Pie version should being next month. The phone was also a part of Google’s Android P Beta program, which is one of the reasons why HMD Global had announced that it would roll-out the Pie update in September.

The Android 9.0 Pie, which was available in beta phase since March this year, comes with a number of improvements, including new personalisation features, battery-saving optimisations, and tools that help tracking time users spend on the phone.

It also addresses the latest trends in smartphone designs with revamped navigational controls. It introduces a new gesture-based navigation system. There are also a number of other gesture-based shortcuts. It is also said to be the most personalised version of Android yet.

Last month, when HMD Global rolled out its last Android Pie developer preview, the company’s CPO Juho Savikas proclaimed on Twitter that it would be the last one before the final stable version starts rolling out for Nokia 7 Plus.

The stable version of the Android Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus will be rolled out this month. But before releasing the stable version, the Finnish company has rolled out another Android Pie Developer Preview Beta update.

The new update, called Beta 4.1 (otherwise known as v3.190), comes with the September security patch along with a few other improvements. A non-removable At a Glance widget has been added to the homescreen similar to what we’ve seen on Pixel phones. Along with this, the aptX codec has also been enabled.

It also introduces Adaptive Battery feature which could improve the phone’s battery life. It intelligently kills off apps that you don’t use as much. Adaptive and optimized brightness is another 9.0 Pie feature that you can make use of as well as Predictive Application Actions.

For now, the users of Nokia 7 Plus will have to wait a little bit longer to receive the stable Android 9.0 Pie update to their devices. If there are no bugs and issue, we expect that the company could roll out the stable update by the end of this month, as promised.

After the Pixel devices, the search engine giant is expected to make the Android 9 Pie to devices that are listed under Android One program. Since HMD Global had confirmed at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 that all Nokia smartphones above Nokia 2 will join the Android One program, many Nokia phones are expected to receive Android 9 Pie update earlier than other smartphones from other companies. Today, through an official blog post, Google has confirmed that all the Android One devices and other phones that have joined the Android P Beta program will be treated with Android 9 Pie by the end of the fall.

All the Nokia Android One phones that are slated to receive the Android 9 Pie update Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 6.1 Plus (Nokia X6), Nokia 5.1 Plus (Nokia X5), Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1. Among these, the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to get the final Android P update by the end of this month since it is one of the smartphones that have been enrolled in the Android P beta program.

Apart from Android One phones by HMD Global, other Nokia phones are also confirmed to receive Android P update. Around two months ago, Neil Broadley who is the global market manager of HMD Global had said that the Android P will be made available to entire Nokia portfolio. These means that other older Nokia phone such as Nokia 8, Nokia 7, Nokia 6, Nokia 5, Nokia 3, Nokia 2 and Nokia 1 will be also treated with Android 9 Pie. However, as mentioned above, Nokia Android One phones will be the first ones to be blessed with Android Pie.

Following the release of the iPhone X, face unlock has become a popular feature Android manufacturers include in their devices. Although, only a few ones like the Mi 8 Explorer Edition and the OPPO Find X offer the same level of security as the iPhone X.

HMD Global will be following the footsteps of other manufacturers by rolling out the feature to a number of its phones via an update according to a new report.

The info comes from a Twitter response to a user asking if the face unlock update is available for the Nokia 8. The official Nokia Mobile account replied that it would get the update in the coming months along with other devices. These other devices are the Nokia 8 Sirocco, the Nokia 7 Plus, and the Nokia 6.1.

If you own any of the aforementioned devices, you may want to look forward to the update when it starts rolling out. However, you shouldn’t forget that the fingerprint scanner on these devices offers a higher level of security than face unlock.

The Nokia 7 Plus is one of the few devices that Google released a beta version of Android P for. However, a recent update rolling out to those on the beta version is forcing them back to Android 8.1 Oreo.

The 1.3GB update is said to bring June 2018’s security patch but also has a full version of Android Oreo bundled with it. It also causes devices to crash or freeze, and apps to force close. Affected users say the rollback option on the Android P page doesn’t work since it is older than the current build. Some users can’t even boot past the Nokia screen.

The fix, therefore, is to do a complete factory reset via the recovery menu which then pushes them back to Android Oreo and causes them to lose their files. Nokia seems to be aware of the issue already but a fix has not been provided yet.

There seems to be something terribly wrong at Nokia with respect to updates. Just last week, Nokia 6.1 users had to deal with Wi-Fi issues after receiving May’s security patch.

HMD Global had introduced the Nokia 7 Plus Android One smartphone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo in February this year. It is a higher edition of the Nokia 7 smartphone that was launched in China last year. The handset that sports a full screen design features a 6000-series aluminum frame and a rear is made out of smooth plastic with ceramic feel. JerryRigEverything has carried out scratch, burn and bend tests on the Nokia 7 Plus to check its durability.

The 5.99-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display of the phone is shielded by the older Gorilla Glass 3 layer. The screen of the smartphone developed faint scratches on level 6 of Mohs scale of hardness and prominent marks were noticed at level 7. The Gorilla Glass 3 has turned out to be as strong as the newer Gorilla Glass 5. The 16-megapixel front-facing camera is protected as it placed under Gorilla Glass 3. There is no metal grill protection for the earpiece.

Scratching harder on the copper-colored metallic frame revealed the original silver coloring of the frame. This suggests that the metallic frame may lose its copper coloring if it develops a scratch through fall. The buttons and SIM tray of the phone are made out of the metal. The dual rear cameras are placed under the strong glass. The LED flash is covered with plastic.

The fingerprint scanner that is placed under the dual camera setup can be scratched through items like keys. However, it seems to function normally even after getting scratched. The rear panel of the Nokia 7 Plus has 6 layers of ceramic feel paint. The rear shell easily developed scratches when it was treated with a razor blade which is level 5 on Mohs scale of hardness.

When flame was applied to a certain area on the IPS LCD display of the phone for 10 seconds, the affected portion stopped working for some time and it took few more seconds to recover completely. The build of the phone is strong that it does not seem to flex a bit from the front or rear in the bend test.

Last month, HMD Global launched a range of smartphones in the Indian market, including Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 6 (2018). The Nokia 7 Plus has now received a new over-the-air (OTA) update, which brings the dual VoLTE support to the smartphone.

Till now, the Nokia 7 Plus supported 4G VoLTE in SIM 1 but the SIM 2 was limited to 3G connectivity. With this new update, both SIM 1 and SIM 2 slots will support 4G VoLTE connectivity. The update comes with the version number V2.22A and also brings other changes such as user interface enhancements, improved system stability, and the latest May 2018 Android security patch.

During the launch of the smartphone, Nokia had also promised that it will roll out an update which will enable Face Unlock feature of the Nokia 7 Plus. However, the Face Unlock feature has not yet been enabled on the smartphone.

The Nokia 7 has also been named among the few eligible devices that will receive the recently announced Android P Developer Preview 2. Users who are interested to test out the new Android P Beta can sign up for the Developer Preview 2 OTA update on Nokia’s website here.

Not many smartphones support dual 4G VoLTE connectivity. However, there are a few devices available in India that supports such feature, including the Honor View 10, Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, and the recently launched Oppo smartphone Realme 1.

The Nokia 7 Plus features a 6-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD display with screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. The phone is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 processor, along with 4GB RAM. It packs 64GB of onboard storage that is expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card.

On Wednesday, HMD Global will be launching a new Nokia phone with notched display. Rumors surrounding the smartphone have claimed that the handset would be launching as Nokia X. However, other reports have claimed that it could be called Nokia X6. Today, the smartphone has been found listed on Suning.com with “Nokia X6” moniker along with its pricing and some of its key specifications.

According to the below image, the Nokia X6 that has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage is priced at 1,499 Yuan (~$237). The Nokia X6 is the first Nokia branded phone that features a 19:9 aspect ratio supporting notched display. The retailer will begin the reservations on May 15 starting at 15:30 PM (local time) in China. The official sales of the Nokia X6 is slated to begin on May 21. The listing reveals that the handset will be available in Black color. There is no information on the other color variants of the Nokia X6 in this new leak.

With such a pricing, it seems that the Nokia X6 will sit between the Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 Plus in China. The 32 GB and 64 GB variants of the Snapdragon 630 powered Nokia 6 (2018) are respectively priced at 1,299 Yuan (~$205) and 1,399 Yuan (~$220). The Nokia 7 that is also driven by Snapdragon 630 has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of RAM. It is available with 1,699 Yuan (~$268) pricing whereas the advanced Nokia 7 Plus that is packed with Snapdragon 660 chipset, 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage costs 2,299 Yuan (~$362) in China.

The Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 7 are both driven by the same chipset whereas the Nokia X6 is speculated to be fueled by the Snapdragon 636 mobile platform. Hence, the it appears that the Finnish firm may discontinue the Nokia 7 since it was launched in October 2017 or make it available with lower pricing than the Nokia X6. There is a possibility that the Nokia X6 may replace the Nokia 7 phone.

According to the TENAA listing of the Nokia X6, it features a 5.8-inch display that supports FHD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. TENAA listing has also revealed that the Nokia X6 may arrive in other RAM variants like 3 GB and 4 GB. It may also come in another internal storage version of 32 GB. It features 16-megapixel dual rear cameras and a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. The X6 is packed with a 3,000mAh battery.

In March, Google had released the first developer preview of Android 9.0 P. Through the Google I/O 2018 event that began yesterday, Google confirmed the arrival of beta edition of Android P for smartphones from various brands like OnePlus, Xiaomi, OPPO, Vivo, Nokia (HMD Global, Essential and Sony.

In the previous years, Google used to release the beta builds of new Android version first to its Pixel/Nexus devices. However, starting with this year, the latest Android P beta build will be not only available for the existing Pixel phones, but also for devices from popular smartphone OEMs. Well, all these phones are Project Treble compatible devices because of which they are entitled to receive the Android P beta along with the Pixel phones.

Android P is packed with plenty of new features such as Adaptive Battery that prioritizes battery consumption for frequently used apps and services; Adaptive Brightness that can remember the manually set brightness setting for specific lighting environment; Digital wellbeing features that shows how the device is being used by the user by providing a Dashboard to see the time spent in apps, unlocking of phone, checking notifications and so on. Some of the other features of the Android 9.0 P include manual screen rotation, gesture-based navigation, predicted actions and more.

As of this writing, there is no information on the release date of the final build of Android P. Also, the official name of Android 9.0 is yet to be disclosed. Like last year, the Android P may debut in August this year.

The Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, revealed in a tweet that the phone will soon have dual SIM dual LTE support. At the moment, only one SIM slot supports LTE.

The tweet was actually a response to a video review of a YouTuber Siddhartha Sharma (@SidnChips). We guess he had mentioned the absence of the feature as one of the drawbacks of the device in his review.

There is no info as to when the update will come but Mr. Sarvikas said shortly. We presume it may come along with the next security update for the device.

Nokia 7 Plus features an exceptional dual camera with Zeiss optics, but Meizu 15 with its OIS and incredibly detailed photos with low noise even in low light conditions has managed to get our attention. Nokia 7 Plus wins when it comes to battery life due to its much bigger 3800 mAh battery. Talking about audio quality, Meizu 15 Plus comes with really nice stereo speakers, while users and reviewing are complaining about the poor audio quality offered by Nokia 7 Plus’ mono speaker.

Overall, it is hard to choose a winner: I would personally pick Meizu 15, but if you care about battery life and love the stock Android experience and fast updates choose Nokia 7 Plus as it also features Android One.

HMD Global had already confirmed the launch of its best 2018 phones in India a few days ago, and now the moment has come. Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus are officially up for pre-orders in the Indian peninsula. There are three sites where Indian customers can purchase the two handsets: Nokia 7 Plus is available on Amazon India, Nokia 8 Sirocco can be purchased on Flipkart, and both the handsets are available on the official store which can be reached by heading to Nokia.com. The 7 Plus has a listing price of INR 26,000 on Nokia’s official online store and Amazon India, which roughly translates into $393. Nokia 8 Sirocco costs INR 50,000 on the official store and Flipkart, that is equivalent to about $757.

Announced at the MWC 2018 in Barcelona, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus are currently the most powerful HMD phones of 2018, even though the 7 Plus is less powerful than the standard Nokia 8 launched 2017. The first is its most important flagship and it features a 5.5-inch display with narrow bezels and a Quad HD resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It boasts an octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset from Qualcomm, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It also has dual cameras with a 12 MP resolution, OIS, and Carl Zeiss lenses. Instead, Nokia 7 Plus is an upper-midrange with a 6000-series aluminium body.

It is the first 18:9 handset by HMD Global and its display has a size of 6 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. Under the hood, it has an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 chipset paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Even this device features a 12 MP dual camera with Carl Zeiss optics, but it lacks OIS. Both the devices come with Android 8.1 Oreo installed out of the box and a stock UI experience. They have also been launched in the European market with a price tag of about €750 and €399, respectively.

HMD Global has rolled out new updates to two of its devices. The Nokia 3 has now received an Android 8.0 Oreo stable update while the Nokia 7 Plus has been updated to Android 8.1.

The Nokia 3 which is over a year old already launched with Android Nougat out of the box. HMD Global revealed that all its phones will get updated to Android O and Android P. With the Nokia 3 getting its update today, that leaves just the Nokia 2.

The Nokia 7 Plus also received an update that pushes it to Android 8.1 Oreo. The update is 590MB in size and brings along April’s security patch. New features include battery saving navigation buttons, a revamped power menu, new setting menu, and Bluetooth battery percentage.

The Nokia 7 Plus was released this year at MWC 2018. It has a 6” FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. There are dual 12MP Zeiss sensors on the rear and a 16MP front-facing camera.

The Finnish firm had organized an exclusive press conference in New Delhi to introduce the new Nokia phones in India. Except for the Nokia 8110 4G, all the aforementioned phones were launched in India today. Here is the information on the specs, features and pricing of the newly announced Nokia phones.

Nokia 1

Nokia 1, the first Android Go phone from the company, has been available in India from March 28 with a pricing of Rs. 5,499 (~$84). With Rs. 2,200 (~$33)cash back offer from Reliance Jio, the Nokia 1 can be availed for as low as Rs. 3,299 (~$50). The telecom operator is also providing 60 additional data for the buyers of Nokia 1.

The Nokia 1 has a 4.5-inch IPS LCD display that supports 480 x 850 pixels resolution. It is fueled by Media MT6737M chipset that is supported by 1 GB of RAM. It has an inbuilt storage of 8 GB and it also features a microSD cards lot. It has a rear camera of 8-megapixel and a frontal camera of 2-megapixel. It is driven by 2,150mAh battery.

Nokia 6 (2018)

Starting from April 6, the Nokia 6 (2018) will be available in India with a price tag of Rs. 16,999 (~$261)  for the 3 GB RAM variant. It can be availed in colors like Black/Copper, White/Iron and Blue/Gold.

India may receive the 4 GB RAM of the Nokia 6 (2018) in the coming months. It will be available through Nokia Mobile Shop as well as offline and online buying channels. Buyers can avail the Nokia 6 (2018) through special cash back offers. However, the company did not reveal more info them.

The Nokia 6 (2018) includes a 5.5-inch Full HD display. The Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3 GB of RAM are present under the hood of the phone. Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus pre-bookings will begin in India from April 20 and its sales will start from April 30. It will be available for buying through Amazon India, Nokia Mobile Shop and select outlets with a pricing of Rs. 25,999 (~$399). It can be bought in color choices such as Black/Copper and White/Copper. Without explaining in detail, the company confirmed that there will be special cash back offers for Nokia 7 Plus customers.

Nokia 8 Sirocco pre-bookings will start in India from April 20 and it will be exclusively available online through Flipkart. It will go on sale from April 30 with a price tag of Rs. 49,999 (~$767) It comes in a single color variant of Black. There are no details on the special cash back offers that will be available for purchasers of Nokia 8 Sirocco.

Nokia 8 Sirocco is an improved version of the Nokia 8 flagship from 2017. Like the Nokia 8, the newly announced Sirocco model is powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC. The chipset is assisted by 6 GB of RAM. The 3,260mAh battery enabled with fast charging is available on the phone. The Nokia 7 Plus features a QHD display of 5.5 inches that are curved at the edges. It also belongs to Android One program and it is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo. It features the same dual camera setup that is available on the Nokia 7 Plus phone. HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia smartphones, has announced that it is holding a launch event on 4th April in India. It has already started sending out media invites, which reads – “We welcome you to Explore. Express. Create. Reimagine. We welcome you to discover the N-powered city of tomorrow.”

At the launch event, the Finland-based company is expected to launch its recently unveiled smartphone, which includes Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco Edition. This is in line with our previous report which said that Nokia will bring its Nokia 7 Plus smartphone in the Indian market in early April.

Both the devices — Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco edition were announced at Mobile World Congress along with Nokia 8110 4G and Nokia 1. However, HMD Global has already launched Nokia 1 Android Go edition smartphone in the Indian market.

The Nokia 7 Plus features a 6-inch Full HD+ FullView display with 2160 × 1080 pixels screen resolution with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass cover with a Gorilla Glass 3 shield on top. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, along with 4GB RAM.

There’s 64GB of internal storage with support for microSD card slot for expanding storage capacity. Further, the phone runs Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. There’s a fingerprint sensor on the back for added security.

The phone has a dual camera setup — 12MP primary shooter with f/1.75 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size with ZEISS optics and a secondary 13MP snapper with 1.0µm pixel size, F2.6 aperture with ZEISS optics. On the front, it features a 16MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

On the other hand, the Nokia 8 Sirocco edition is the most premium phone from HMD Global so far. It flaunts a 5.5-inch QHD pOLED display with 2560×1440 pixels screen resolution with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, along with 6GB RAM, and 128GB storage, which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. The phone also has IP67 water-and-dust certification.

The phone features a 12 MP primary shooter with 2L7 wide-angle lens, 1.4um pixel size, f/1.7 aperture along with a 13MP secondary snapper with a 3M3 Telephoto lens, 1.0um pixel size, f/2.6 aperture. On the front, it sports a 5MP camera with 1.4um pixel size.

HMD Global had unveiled the Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 1 and Nokia 8110 4G phones at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in the past month. The company is now making these phones available in wider markets. Fresh information claims that the Finnish firm is prepping up to launch these phones in India starting from next month.

India is one of the top three markets through which HMD Global is generating its revenue. Hence, HMD Global CEO Florian Sieche is aiming to rank Nokia among the top five phone brands in the country. This year the company will be investing more on retail presence, consumer engagement and advertising.

HMD Global India head Ajay Mehta is of the view that offline channel is the core strength of the company. Hence, the firm will be aiming to increase the visibility of the brand this year by increasing the retail presence by 10 percent. He added that online sales is around 30 percent of market, but it is integral to sell its devices through e-commerce sites to become of the top ranking smartphone brands in India. At present the Finnish firm is in talks with its manufacturing partner Foxconn to ramp up the manufacturing of existing Nokia smartphones and feature phones in India.

Starting from April, the company aims to launch Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 1 phones in India. According to Sieche, India is a vast market for 4G feature phones. Hence, it is planning to launch the Nokia 8110 4G phone in collaboration with Reliance Jio in May. Both the firms will be aiming to sell the Nokia 8110 4G feature phone to around 500 million basic phone users of the country who have not upgraded to high-end smartphones.

Nokia 7 Plus, which was launched at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month, is now reportedly making its way to the Indian market. According to the reports, HMD Global could soon launch the Nokia 7 Plus in India.

The phone recently went on sale in China and according to the company, it was sold out within just 5 minutes. While the India launch date is not yet known, we expect the phone to get launched in Q2 2018 for a price tag of around Rs. 23,000.

The Nokia 7 Plus finds a place between the company’s budget phone Nokia 6 and its flagship device Nokia 8. In China, the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model is priced at 2,299 Yuan (approximately $364) while the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model is priced at 2,499 Yuan (approximately $395).

The phone features a 6-inch IPS Full HD+ display with a screen resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The display comes with a 500-nits brightness rating and Corning’s Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor clocked at 2.2GHz, paired with 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Both models come with microSD card slot, which enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB.

Coming to the camera department, the Nokia 7 Plus packs a 12-megapixel wide-angle primary camera with f/1.75 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels, as well as a 13-megapixel camera with a f/2.6 aperture, 1um pixels, and 2x optical zoom.

After the official announcement at MWC 2018 later last month, Nokia 8 Sirocco and Nokia 7 Plus have been made available to pre-order in three European countries. The latest high-end devices by HMD Global can now be ordered on Amazon in France, Spain, and Italy. The price slightly changes depending on the country, but it remains close to the official launch price announced by the Finnish giant. Nokia 8 Sirocco which is actually the most powerful flagship by HMD Global has a price of €767 in Italy, €761 in Spain and €755 in France.

The original launch price of the handset is €749. Nokia 7 Plus, the first smartphone with Android One released by Nokia, is up for pre-orders with a price tag of €405 in Spain, €409 in Italy and €402 in France. Just to remind you, Nokia 8 Sirocco offers a premium design with a glass back, a stainless steel frame and IP68 certification which makes it waterproof. Its display has a 5.5-inch size and a classic 16:9 aspect ratio, but its bezels are very narrow, and it has a 2K resolution. Under the hood, the phone has an octa-core Snapdragon 835 chipset by Qualcomm, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the rear side, there is a dual camera setup with resolutions of 12 + 13 MP, while the selfie snapper has a 5 MP resolution.

The battery has a capacity of 3260 mAh. Nokia 7 Plus is an upper midrange device and it is the first phone by the company to sport a display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen has a 6-inch size and a Full HD+ resolution. On the hardware side, it offers an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. In the previous month, Google had launched the Android Enterprise Recommended program. It includes Google approved devices that can be used for safely used for business purpose. The list already includes couple of smartphones from various brands like BlackBerry, Google, Huawei, LG, Motorola, HMD Global (Nokia) and Sony. Today, HMD Global has confirmed that its new devices like Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6 (2018) are also included in the list of other 25 Android Enterprise Recommended devices.

HMD Global is known for rolling out regular security updates to its Nokia-branded Android phones. In order to be a part of the Android Enterprise Recommended Devices, manufacturers are required to release Android security updates within 90 days after they are officially made available by Google, for a period of 3 years.

The other prerequisites to enroll a phone as an Android Enterprise Recommended Device include it should be running on Android 7.0 Nougat or higher. Smartphone OEMs must provide zero-touch enrollment with bulk deployment to employees. These devices should be available for buying easily across the globe. Also, they must be available unlocked through the manufacturer or reseller. Also, manufacturers should a consistent application experience in managed profiles.

Pricing & Availability

The Nokia 7 Plus price has been pegged at EUR 399 (roughly $490) excluding taxes and subsidies. The device will be available from early April and comes in Copper Black and Copper White colour variants.

Nokia 7 Plus Android One smartphone is heavily pegged to get unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo in the coming week. The rumor mill had leaked a real image of the Nokia 7 Plus Android One phone. Earlier this week, popular leakster Evan Blass had leaked press renders of the smartphone. Fresh renders of the handset have surfaced once again to reveal it from all angles.   

Nokia 7 Plus will be the first Android One smartphone from the Finnish company. The new renders confirm that the handset will be available in Black and White color options. Both the color variants feature orange accents along the edges of the phone as well as for the Nokia branding, fingerprint scanner and dual camera module.

The Nokia 7 smartphone that has been available exclusively in China from October 2017 features a glass and metal combination chassis. However, the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to arrive with aluminum unibody with ceramic finish.

The Nokia 7 Plus Android One phone will also be the first phone from the company to feature 18:9 aspect ratio supporting display. It is rumored to feature a 6-inch FHD+ resolution supporting screen. The Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the handset. The SoC will be coupled with 4 GB of RAM and it will have a native storage of 64 GB.

For shooting selfies, it will be equipped with a 16-megapixel sensor whereas the rear side is expected to feature Carl Zeiss branded 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual lens setup. It will be loaded with stock edition of Android 8.0 Oreo and will come with other Nokia features such as OZO Audio and Bothie photo shooting mode. It is likely to launch with a price tag of 399 euros (~$492).

The white coloured variant came with orange accents around the dual Carl Zeiss lenses, the fingerprint scanner, and the display while the Nokia logo and the physical buttons are also orange. Going by the new renders of the Black coloured model, it is also going to come with the same orange accent on the dual Carl Zeiss lenses, the fingerprint scanner, around the display, the Nokia logo and the physical buttons. Yesterday, well-known tipster Evan Blass had revealed first renders of the upcoming Nokia 7 Plus Android One smartphone. Today, a Chinese publication has revealed a leaked photo of what appears to be the real Nokia 7 Plus smartphone.

The screenshot shows that the Nokia 7 Plus could be the first Nokia phone to arrive with full screen design. The corners of the phone are rounded. Its 18:9 aspect ratio display is said to be placed under a 2.5D curved display.

“Namaste” mentioned on the top-left corner of the screen is an Indian word which means a respectful greeting. Also, an Indian name “Raj Sharma” is mentioned below the date on the screen. These things suggest that the smartphone could be heading to India soon.

At the top-right corner of the phone is the rumored 16-megapixel selfie camera. It also seems to be sporting the same stock UI from HMD Global that was first seen on the original Nokia 6.

The above renders that were leaked by Blass show that the Nokia 7 Plus will be arriving in the market as an Android One phone. The renders have also revealed that the Pearl White and Black color variants of the phone will be sporting orange accents. It is speculated that the handset could be sporting a metal unibody design and its finish will have a ceramic appeal.

Its Geekbench listing has revealed that it could be the first phone from the company to feature Snapdragon 660 chipset. The SoC will be coupled by 4 GB of RAM. The backside of the phone features Carl Zeiss certified dual camera setup that may include 12-megapixel and 13-megapixel sensors. The rear panel also features a fingerprint scanner.

It is likely to house a 6-inch display that will support Full HD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. It may come preinstalled with Android 8.0 Oreo and since it is an Android One phone, it may be soon treated with Android 8.1 Oreo. As of this writing, there is no information available on its pricing.

HMD Global is expected to announce the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 Android Go phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech exhibition on Feb. 25. Rumors have it that some other phones like Nokia 8 Sirocco (could be Nokia 9) and global variants of Nokia 6 (2018) and Nokia 3310 4G may also get unveiled at MWC 2018.

Back in December, an unpacked Nokia Camera app revealed a list of Nokia phones consisting of released models and some unreleased ones. Belonging to the latter category is the Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 4, and Nokia 1.

The Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 have appeared in the news more times since their first reveal and today we get to see the first official renders of both devices thanks to Evan Blass.

Nokia 7 Plus

The Nokia 7 Plus is familiar as it has appeared in a few leaked photos before but this new leak is much more different as it reveals a key info.

This new render reveals the Nokia 7 Plus will be an Android One device! Guess you didn’t see that coming.

Since, Nokia phones sold in China run a different version of Android from those sold in other countries, it is safe to presume that the Nokia 7 Plus that will be sold there won’t be the Android One variant which is why we didn’t know about it before.

So those first leaked images we saw of the Nokia 7 Plus which also listed the specs are those of the Chinese variant while this Android One Nokia 7 Plus is the international variant that will be sold outside China.

The Nokia 7 Plus is shown in white in the image above with orange accents around the dual Carl Zeiss lenses, the fingerprint scanner, and the display. The Nokia logo and the physical buttons are also orange.

We also get a closer look at the 18:9 display of the phone. As you can see, the corners are rounded.

Nokia 1

While the Nokia 7 Plus is an Android One phone, the Nokia 1 is rumored to be an Android Go phone. Android Go or Android Oreo (Go Edition) is a lightweight version of Android for phones with 1GB RAM or less which is what the Nokia 1 is expected to come with.

From the leaked render we can see the Nokia 1 isn’t going to get shortlisted for its looks. The bezels around the screen which we guess is between 4 – 5 inches are super huge like those on the first Android smartphones from years ago.

There is a front facing camera on the top left corner and beside it is a pill-shaped sensor. Sitting in the middle is the earpiece.

On the rear, the Nokia 1 is shown to have a single rear camera with a large LED flash. The camera sits in the middle of the phone. At the bottom right corner is an opening for the speaker.

While the phone isn’t attractive, it appears to be well made and should be able to take a beating.

The Nokia 1 is shown in two color variants – indigo and bright red. Both variants have silver accents around the bezels and rear camera. The buttons and Nokia logo are also in silver.

Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 1 Launch Date

While this may be easy to miss, both phone actually tease their launch dates on the homescreen. For the Nokia 7 Plus, the date is Sunday, February 25, while for the Nokia 1, the date is Monday, February 26.

Although, MWC 2018 officially begins on the 26th of February, manufacturers already start announcing their phones during the weekend. So you shouldn’t be surprised that the Nokia 7 Plus is launching on a Sunday, plus this is not HMD Global’s first launch on a weekend. The first-gen Nokia 6 was announced on a Sunday too.

HMD Global will be present at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 tech expo that will take place at Barcelona, Spain later this month. It is heavily pegged to unleash the Nokia 7 Plus smartphone along with some other Nokia branded phones. Plenty of information of the Nokia 7 Plus have surfaced in the recent weeks. Hence, its arrival seems to be imminent. Realistic renders of the Nokia 7 Plus smartphone has surfaced to reveal what to expect from its design.

The Nokia 7 that was launched in October 2017 and is currently exclusively available in China is the only Nokia Android smartphone to feature glass chassis. Hence, the Nokia 7 Plus that is expected to retain the glass chassis is likely to sport a very attractive design. Designers at Science and Knowledge YouTube channel have built wonderful looking renders of Nokia 7 Plus based on its leaked specs.

Earlier this week, leaked images of the Nokia 7 Plus smartphones had emerged from China. The new renders look quite similar to the those leaked images. The Nokia 7 Plus renders reveal that it could be the first full screen design phone from the company. As mentioned above, the renders claim that the Nokia 7 Plus would be sporting glass panels on its front and rear sides with an aluminum frame placed in between. It will be splash proof device as it is expected to arrive with IP54 rating.

The 6-inch IPS LCD display of the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to deliver FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Since the screen occupies major portion of the front panel, the fingerprint scanner is placed on its backside.

As Geekbench listing of the phone has revealed, it will be powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. It is also expected to arrive in 6 GB RAM option like the original Nokia 7. It is likely to arrive with a native storage capacity of 64 GB. It is pegged to launch with Android 8.0 Oreo preinstalled. The handset will also include a microSD card slot for additional storage.

For photography, it features Carl Zeiss certified 12-megapixel + 13-megapixel dual camera setup with support for OIS and 2x optical zoom. It is fitted with a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. The 3,450mAh battery of the Nokia 7 Plus is expected to carry support for fast charging. The handset is also expected to include 3.5mm audio jack and USB-C port. The source claims that it will be available with a pricing of 410 euros (~$508).

Yesterday, specification details of the Nokia 7 Plus were leaked online. Today, images of the device have also surfaced, confirming those specs.

The pictures are not the sharpest when it comes to leaks but they are clear enough to make out key details. HMD Global seems to be going for a similar design as the 2nd-gen Nokia 6 based on the color accents we can see around the camera, fingerprint scanner, and metal frame.

One of the photos show a clear view of the 6” FHD+ display. The bezels are still there but the lower one is slightly smaller than that of the Nokia 7. There are no buttons on the front (capacitive or physical), so on-screen buttons are the way to go.

The Nokia 7 Plus sports dual rear cameras (12MP +13MP) with Zeiss lenses and 2x zoom and dual pixel technology. The cameras are also raised. The front camera is a 16MP f/2.0 sensor with beauty mode. There is also slow motion and Nokia’s signature “bothie” for taking pictures or recording videos with both cameras at the same time.

The body is actually a mix of metal and ceramic and it will be available in black and white. There is a high chance the phone may launch first in China before a global release.
