The Nokia 8 flagship is expected to be unveiled in London on August 18 and as usual, we expect the leaks to keep coming out in droves. The latest leak about the Nokia 8 centres on its real picture and it comes out from Nokia itself. In what could be seen as a teaser, Nokia revealed the Nokia 8 real life looks by featuring the flagship in a video meant to commemorate the International Cat Day held on Tuesday.

The video which we have added after this post did not specifically identify the Nokia smartphone featured as the Nokia 8 but the look is aptly consistent with the ones we have seen lately in leaks (see photo below). This goes to confirm that the Nokia 8 will come with a display that has very thin bezels at the sides while we get big bezels at the top and bottom. The photo only shows the front of the device but the rear will likely be as captured in the photo below since the front is similar.

As a reminder, the Nokia 8 is expected with a 5.7-inch 2K display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor powering it up as well as up to 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The device is also expected with a dual rear camera setup which is made up of a 12MP main sensor with the module manufactured by renowned German optics company Carl Zeiss. The device is also expected to pack a 3000mAh battery and will run Android 7.1 out of the box. See the video below.

Nokia 8 is expected to be unveiled on August 18 and to this end, Nokia is said to have sent out official launch invites to the event which is billed to hold in London, United Kingdom. Ahead of that event, a new set of real photos of the expected Nokia 8 have popped up online via a retailer.

The Nokia 8 isn’t new to leaks, we have seen a number of photos of the device so, these latest photos just confirm the design of the flagship. The device is expected with a metal body and in a number of colours which would include Gold, Copper and Blue. The design looks more like a sleek version of the Nokia 6 with well-curved edges. 

The design of the Nokia 8 is also distinct from HMD’s first Nokia device due to the dual cameras that sit at the rear. The dual camera setup will come with Zeiss Optics technology and Zeiss’ logo is expected to be written in between both cameras but that is absent in the leaked photo above, which is likely due to the fact this is a prototype machine. The body is said to be made from aluminum and the shape when viewed from the rear resembles the Nokia 6. But the leaked photos showing the front screen point at the presence of curved display. We may likely be looking at on-display fingerprint sensor onboard the flagship.

Nokia 8 is expected with a 5.3-inch 2K display with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor powering it up as well as up to 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The dual rear camera setup is made up of a 13MP main sensor and Zeiss optics. The device is expected to pack a 3000mAh battery and will run Android 7.1 out of the box. The device is listed with a price tag of 4,500 Yuan ($660) which isn’t very cheap but is a decent price for a flagship. The price may be lower than that amount in the long run, anyway.

Nokia is set to launch a series of smartphones at MWC 2017 and the Nokia 8 is said to be one of the phones. Although the company did not reveal the smartphone coming, a new Jingdong listing seems to buttress the fact that the Nokia 8 is indeed launching soon.

The Nokia 8 is listed for pre-sale on the popular e-commerce hub but the listing is a third party listing and the flagship carries a price tag of 3,188 Yuan ($463). The listing also did not state when the flagship would hit the shelves.

It is worthy of note that the Jingdong listing features images of the Nokia 8 or P1 is similar to those of the device’s concept render leaked earlier. Thus, it is unlikely that this is a genuine listing. We still don’t have any real live image confirming what the device looks like and it is doubtful if it would look like the concept.

On the specs end, the Nokia 8 is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 chip, thus puncturing insinuations that it would launch at MWC. Perhaps, it would pack a Snapdragon 821 chip. The flagship device is also expected with a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The display is a flat-screen and not a curved display. Further, the device is also said to sport a powerful 24MP rear camera with OIS, and super EIS. There is also a 12MP sensor up front for selfie snapshots. On the memory aspect, the Nokia 8 is rumored to pack just two storage versions, one with 64GB storage and another with 128GB storage, both of which are expandable via microSD up to 256GB. It is expected that the Nokia P1 or 8 will come pre-installed with Android 7.0 Nougat since the Nokia 6 ships with Google’s latest mobile OS.

Although Nokia had unveiled its first smartphone under HMD Global which signalled the return of the Nokia brand, many are still expectant of that true flagship smartphone that we had all been waiting for all these while. Indeed, during the launch of the Nokia 6 in China, HMD did tease that a true flagship device would be coming our way on February 26 at the Mobile World Congress 2017.

Not much is known about the expected flagship device but it has been revealed that it is known with the codename Nokia Supreme and may likely enter the market as Nokia 8, continuing the naming tradition of the Nokia 6. Curiously, the purported flagship was said to have been on display at Qualcomm’s booth at CES 2017, but only a few noticed it.
