Nokia introduced several new smartphones in the US this month, including the rugged XR21 with an “indestructible” build. Soon, HMD Global may launch a new affordable smartphone in the G series, called Nokia G42 5G. The smartphone was recently spotted on the Geekbench website, running Android 13 and an unknown Qualcomm processor. Here are the details.

New Nokia G42 5G could launch soon

The Nokia G42 was recently spotted on Geekbench with its key specifications. The handset was listed on the benchmarking site with quad core Qualcomm processor with a base frequency of 1.90 GHz. There’s also a fast cluster of two cores, clocked at 2.21 Ghz. While we don’t know the exact name of this processor, it is expected to be a lower mid-range SoC.

This is further evidenced by the running score. The Nokia G42 has managed to score 738 in single-core tests and 1718 in multi-core tests. The Geekbench listing further suggests that the smartphone gets at least 4GB of RAM and runs the Android 13 software out of the box. This is all the information we get from the present listing.

Previous reports claim the Nokia G42 will also have a 6GB RAM variant with 128GB of built-in storage. The smartphone could boast a screen resolution of 1612*720 and be available in purple and gray color options. Other details about the smartphone are still anyone’s guess. As we mentioned above, Nokia recently unveiled the rugged XR21 smartphone in the US with MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability, IP68-rated waterproofing, and IP69K-certification dust resistance. It comes powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.

There are still a few smartphones that have a removable battery and you can add the latest Nokia C02 to the list.

Nokia mobile has quietly launched the affordable Nokia C02 as its latest entry-level smartphone. It brings a 5.45-inch LCD with FWVGA+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The handset features large thick bezels on the display that take us back to old times. It has a polycarbonate frame and a back with a nano-texture. There’s also IP52 waterproofing.

In the camera department, there’s a 2 MP front-facing camera and a single 5 MP camera on the rear with LED flash. Fueling the smartphone is a relatively large 3,000mAh battery that should be enough to power the phone for a full day. As mentioned, the battery is removable so you can always swap it with a new one if the juice runs out.

Under the hood, the Nokia C02 is powered by an unnamed quad-core SoC with a clock speed of 1.4GHz. The SoC is paired with 2GB RAM and 32GB eMMC 5.1 storage. On the software front, the handset runs Android 12 (Go edition). The brand will be offering two years of security updates.

The smartphone comes with dual SIM slots and a microSD card slot. The handset charges with the help of microUSB connector. Currently, the pricing and availability of the Nokia C02 are not known. The brand should be announcing it pretty soon. The handset should be priced under $80.
