Recently, HMD announced that it is dropping the Nokia branding. The company has been the owner of the Nokia brand since 2016. Although HMD is expected to announce its own branded smartphones in the near future, the company has gone ahead and launched the Nokia G22 in a new color option. The announcement has been made on HMD’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle. 

Nokia G22 gets a new color option

The Nokia G22 with user repairability debuted at last year’s MWC. It was announced in Meteor Grey, Pink, and Lagoon Blue color options. The newly launched color option is called So Peach. The device has a Peach hue on the back panel. The rest of the core specifications pretty much remain unchanged. For those unaware, Peach Fuzz is the Pantone color of the year 2024. 

The price of the Nokia G22 So Peach is likely the same as other color options. It starts at EUR 130 for the base 4GB + 64GB variant. The availability of the device remains unclear. 

The Nokia G22 has a 6.5-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and thick bottom chin. It features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and a rectangular camera module on the back panel housing a 50MP main sensor and two 2MP lenses. Internally, the smartphone is powered by a Unisoc T606 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and up to 128GB storage. There is also 2GB virtual RAM and microSD support up to 2TB. It is backed by a 5,050mAh battery with support for 20W charging. The device ships with Android 12 and two years of guaranteed OS updates.

The company has joined hands with iFixit to provide the tools, guide, and parts you’d need to fix the display, charging port, or battery on the handset. Nokia G22 also comes with decent specifications, including an Unisoc processor, 90Hz display, and more. Read on to learn more about the newly launched handset.

The Nokia G22 comes with a key focus on sustainability. With a 100% recycled plastic back cover, up to 3 years of warranty and updates, and a 3-day battery life, it is made for those who want to keep their phones as long as possible. The handset is also self-repairable. As per the company, a battery replacement of the Nokia G22 will take around 5 minutes, and replacing the display will take about 20 minutes.

As mentioned, HMD has partnered with HMD to even provide you with official repair guides, parts, and tools to fix issues. If we talk about the specs, the Nokia G22 brings a 6.52-inch display with an HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. There’s Gorilla Glass 3 protection as well. You get an 8MP front-facing camera and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Powered by the entry-level Unisoc T606 chipset, the Nokia G22 packs 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage. On the software front, the handset runs Android 12 with a promise of 2 OS upgrades and 3 years of security updates. For photography, the Nokia smartphone gets a triple camera unit with a 50MP main camera, a 2MP macro unit, and a 2MP depth sensor. Fueled by a 5,050mAh battery, the handset supports 20W wired charging.

Nokia G22 will be offered in charcoal, green and pink colors. It is priced at £130 ($155) and is available for purchase in Europe starting today.

It features a water-drop-shaped notch that houses the selfie camera, an octa-core Unisoc T606 chipset, and up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. The G21 runs on Android 11 and offers microSD support, a triple-camera setup (50MP main camera, 2MP depth, and a macro camera unit), and an 8MP front-facing camera. Plus, it’s got a 5,050mAh battery with 18W fast charging capabilities. This phone is available in India for INR 12,999 and comes in the colors Dusk and Nordic Blue.

All in all, it’s clear that the Nokia G22 has a lot to live up to, but based on the Geekbench listing, it’ll do just fine. More information will be available in the near future for further updates as Nokia reveals more information regarding the G22.
