At the start of this month, Nokia announced that it will launch a new storage variant of the Nokia G42 in India. This model has now officially gone on sale in the region. So here’s everything you need to know about the G42’s pricing and specs.

Nokia G42 4GB + 128GB Pricing and Availability

To recall, the Nokia G42 was first announced in India back in September 2023 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Soon after its release, a new 8GB + 256GB variant in a fresh Pink color option also went on sale. Now, the 4GB + 128GB option has also been released in the region in three color variants. This includes the So Pink, So Purple, and So Gray versions.

It has a price tag of 9,999 INR (roughly 121 US Dollars) and is listed for purchase on Amazon India. There are EMI options as well as exchange benefits as well for interested buyers. Apart from the memory capacity, the device is the same as the other Nokia G42 models. It sports a 6.56-inch IPS LCD panel with HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Nokia G42 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480+ SoC.

A large 5,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which also supports 20W wired fast charging. The front houses an 8-megapixel selfie shooter, while the rear packs a 50-megapixel triple camera setup. Nokia is confirmed to launch the G42 smartphone in India on September 11. It launched in global markets in June this year. The Indian variant is expected to come with the same specifications. Nokia has conducted a poll on its Twitter account asking users to guess the price of the G42. Users have to vote out of two options which include Rs 16,xxx and Rs 18,xxx. This hints that the upcoming smartphone may be priced under Rs 18,000 segment. As per the poll, the majority of users have voted for the first option and it leads the second option by a significant difference. We should learn the official pricing and availability details of the Nokia G42 on Monday. 

The Nokia G42 is confirmed to be available from Amazon. It will come with a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will be equipped with an OZO-powered loudspeaker. The smartphone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner embedded in the power button and a pill-shaped rear camera module. Under the hood, the Nokia G42 is confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 480 chipset with support for 5G. It is teased to pack up to 11GB RAM which includes virtual RAM. The upcoming offering will be eligible for two years of OS updates and three years of security patches. It will be available in Purple and Grey color options. 

As for other specs, the global variant of the Nokia G42 has a 5,000mAh battery with support for 20W fast charging. It is offered in 4GB and 6GB RAM options along with 128GB storage.

Nokia has launched a new G-series phone. It is dubbed the Nokia G42. HMD Global has partnered with iFixit to bring repair guides and OEM parts including displays, battery, and charging ports for the latest smartphone. This means that the Nokia G42 is the first user-repairable phone from HMD Global. Read on to know more about what the device offers out of the box. 

Nokia G42 specifications and features

The Nokia G42 comes with a 6.52-inch LCD display bearing a waterdrop notch. It offers an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The screen is shielded by Gorilla Glass. Design-wise, the device is IP52 certified and has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. There is a rectangular camera module on the back panel. 

On the imaging front, the Nokia G42 features triple rear cameras. The setup comprises a 50MP primary sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth unit. Upfront, the device has an 8MP selfie snapper. 

Under the hood, the Nokia G42 is equipped with a Snapdragon 480+ processor. It is offered in 4GB and 6GB RAM options with both packing 128GB internal storage expandable via a microSD card slot. The smartphone draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with 20W fast charging. The brand claims that the battery can retain 80% of its original capacity after 800 charging cycles. 

Software-wise, the Nokia G42 runs on Android 13 OS and is guaranteed to receive two years of OS updates. Connectivity options on the device include 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. 

The Nokia G42 is offered in Purple and Grey colors. The price of the 4GB + 128GB variant has not been announced. The 6GB + 128GB option retails at $199 / EUR249. It is available for purchase in the US, UK, and Europe.

Nokia introduced several new smartphones in the US this month, including the rugged XR21 with an “indestructible” build. Soon, HMD Global may launch a new affordable smartphone in the G series, called Nokia G42 5G. The smartphone was recently spotted on the Geekbench website, running Android 13 and an unknown Qualcomm processor. Here are the details.

New Nokia G42 5G could launch soon

The Nokia G42 was recently spotted on Geekbench with its key specifications. The handset was listed on the benchmarking site with quad core Qualcomm processor with a base frequency of 1.90 GHz. There’s also a fast cluster of two cores, clocked at 2.21 Ghz. While we don’t know the exact name of this processor, it is expected to be a lower mid-range SoC.

This is further evidenced by the running score. The Nokia G42 has managed to score 738 in single-core tests and 1718 in multi-core tests. The Geekbench listing further suggests that the smartphone gets at least 4GB of RAM and runs the Android 13 software out of the box. This is all the information we get from the present listing.

Previous reports claim the Nokia G42 will also have a 6GB RAM variant with 128GB of built-in storage. The smartphone could boast a screen resolution of 1612*720 and be available in purple and gray color options. Other details about the smartphone are still anyone’s guess. We hope to learn more in the coming days.

As we mentioned above, Nokia recently unveiled the rugged XR21 smartphone in the US with MIL-STD 810H military-grade durability, IP68-rated waterproofing, and IP69K-certification dust resistance. It comes powered by the Snapdragon 695 processor, coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage.
