Microsoft fans are eagerly waiting for the arrival of the Surface Phone, but the company is yet to arrival any official information on it. A recent report had suggested that the Redmond-based firm is prepping up to launch a Surface Phone in 2019. Fresh information reveals that the company may introduce a line of phones before it launches the elusive Surface Phone. A Microsoft representative’s chat has revealed that the company is planning to phones running on Android OS.

In the screenshots shown below, the representative is claiming that the engineers of Windows phone are now preparing to launch a new model. However, he is not sure about the type of models that Microsoft is planning to release since it won’t be running on Windows. 10. The mysterious phone belongs to a new line of Microsoft phones running on Android OS.

When Nokia Lumia phones were alive, the Finnish firm had launched the Nokia X and Nokia XL phones running on Android OS at the beginning of 2014. The Nokia X2 was introduced after the acquisition of Nokia Devices and Services by Microsoft in April 2014. Both the phones came with Android OS. However, there was no support Google’s apps including Play Store. These phones featured came with Microsoft services and Windows Phone-like UI. The Nokia X and X2 ended receiving lukewarm response from the audience.

Few months after the launch of Lumia 650 in February 2016, Microsoft killed the Lumia series and since then the company hasn’t launch a new phone. Microsoft has shifted its focus on bringing on its apps to Android OS and iOS.

When the Nokia X and X2 had launched, Microsoft apps and services were not that popular. However, in the recent past, apps like Microsoft Launcher, Edge browser, OneDrive, Skype, Office apps and more have gained good popularity on Android and iOS. Hence, the arrival of a Microsoft Android smartphone can be ruled out.

So, there is a possibility that Microsoft may once again try to launch an Android phone The Redmond firm may pack it with Microsoft apps and services. This phone may not feature Google mobile services.

The Nokia X launches in two days and there is practically nothing we do not know about the device. However, if you have been waiting for proof to show that the device is indeed powered by the Snapdragon 636, then Geekbench has got you covered.

The upcoming mid-range smartphone has surfaced on the benchmarking site just two days ahead of its release as the Nokia X6. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo, has 6GB of RAM, and is powered by the SDM636 – an octa-core processor clocked at 1.61GHz.

The Nokia X6 scored 1332 points in the single-core test and 4892 points in the multi-core test. These scores are similar to that of other phones powered by the Snapdragon 636 such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro.

The Nokia X6 will come with a 5.8” FHD+ screen with a notch at the top. It will also come in 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB or 64GB of storage respectively.

Fresh photos of the Nokia X phone that is slated to debut on May 16 have appeared on Weibo. These photos show that the first Nokia phone with notched display from HMD Global is already available for viewing in China before its official announcement. However, the company is yet to confirm on its specifications and pricing of the phone.

The rear view of the Nokia X reveals that it features a glass back. The vertical dual camera setup along with its dual-tone LED flash and a fingerprint scanner are all present in the top half of the rear panel of the Nokia X.

A 3.5mm audio jack can be found on the topside of the Nokia X. The left edge of the phone seems to be barren whereas the volume controller and power key are seated on the right edge. Previous leaks have revealed that it features a microUSB 2.0 port on the bottoms side.

The Nokia features a notch enabled display. The selfie camera and an earpiece seem to be packed inside the notch. The side bezels of the phone are thin, and the bottom bezel is thick enough to house the “Nokia” branding.

Previous reports have revealed that the Nokia X has a model number of Nokia TA-1099.  The same model number has been spotted on the website China’s 3C authority and TENAA regulatory body. The TENAA listing of the Nokia X has revealed its entire specifications.

The Nokia X will be arriving with a 5.8-inch notched screen that offers an aspect ratio of 19:9 and Full HD+ resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. It is fueled by 1.8 GHz octa-core processor which indicates that it may be driven by Snapdragon 636. Previous leaks have claimed that the handset could be also available in MediaTek Helio P60 chipset version.

HMD Global’s upcoming smartphone, the Nokia X has made its way to China’s TENAA. Virtually all the specs of the phone have been revealed ahead of its release next week.

The Nokia X is listed as the Nokia TA-1099. This is the same model number as one of the Nokia phones we saw on 3C a few weeks ago. The phone has a 5.8” screen with a 2280 x 1080 resolution. It measures 147.2 x 70.98 x 7.99 millimeters and weighs 151 grams.

There is a 1.8GHz octa-core processor powering the device. This is most likely to be the Snapdragon 636. And it is paired with 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM along with 32GB/64GB of expandable storage.

The Nokia X has dual rear cameras but TENAA only mentions one and it is a 16MP sensor. There is another 16MP sensor in front for selfies and video calls. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo, has a 3,000mAh battery, and will be available in blue, black, silver, and white.

The Nokia X will be officially launched next week – on Wednesday, May 16. The upcoming phone was on display at a Nokia event a few weeks ago before the launch date was revealed.

HMD Global has released a new teaser poster for the phone which has more details about the event and also some hints about the device.

The Nokia X will launch in Sanlitun, Beijing and the event will kick off at 2:00 PM local time. Apart from the venue of the event which is the background of the poster, there are also some cartoon images. The containers should be familiar since that was Nokia’s setup for its event a few weeks ago. What you should focus on are the supply drops/air drops littered over the poster.

If you are familiar with games like Fortnite: Battle Royal and PlayerUnknown Battlegrounds, then the supply drops should be familiar. Some have interpreted their addition to the poster as a hint that the Nokia X will have gaming features.

These won’t be elaborate gaming features but just software enhancements to get the most out of the phone’s processing power and the likes.

Less than ten days remain from the official announcement of Nokia X, the first smartphone by HMD Global to feature an iPhone X-like notch in order to minimize bezels. It seems that the handset will initially be an exclusive on the known e-commerce Suning, which has just published a promotional poster of the upcoming device. Thanks to the poster, we can admire the full design of the phone in all its splendor, even though the company has already showcased it in China at the end of April (find the photos here).

Nokia X features a glass back and an aluminum frame, with a circular fingerprint reader on the back and a 19:9 display on the front. There is a notch but there is also a chin which contains the Nokia logo. The device boasts a vertical dual camera setup on the rear side, but it lacks the Carl Zeiss branding and this makes us think that Nokia X will be a cheaper device than Nokia 7 Plus. The device is supposed to come with a 5.8-inch display sporting a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels (IPS LCD). It should be launched in two variants with different prices.

The cheapest one is expected to come with an octa-core Helio P60 processor by MediaTek and 4 GB of RAM, while the expensive one will boast an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. The first version is tipped to launch with a price tag of 1599 Yuan in China, which roughly translates into €210 or $250, while the second one should cost 1799 Yuan, that is equivalent to about €237/$283. Nokia X will be officially unveiled by HMD Global on May 16. At the moment, we do not know when the device will stop being a Suning-exclusive, neither when it will be available in the global market.

Earlier this month, we reported there would be a new smartphone from HMD Global called the Nokia X. The device was expected to launch on April 27 but it didn’t. Instead HMD Global had it on display at an event in China.

The Finnish company has sent out invites which reveal the Nokia X won’t launch until May 16. That is a good two weeks away from today.

We already know what the Nokia X looks like. First, it has a notch at the top of the display, a first for a Nokia device. It also has dual rear cameras, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, and glass on both sides. What we do not know are its specs.

Those who got to see the device on Friday were not able to find out its specs as the device was locked in some way to prevent any digging. However, there are rumors about the specs.

First, the display is said to be about 5.8” in size with an FHD+ resolution. It is also reported to be powered by the Helio P60 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM. The choice of the chipset is actually a big deal. If it turns out to be true, then it should boost the popularity of the processor.

Most of the phones powered by the Helio P60 are limited to Asia for now. If the Nokia X gets an international release, it may be the first Helio P60 phone officially sold outside of Asia.

It won’t be the first HMD Global Nokia phone powered by MTK SoCs, the Nokia 3 and Nokia 1 are powered by MediaTek chipsets but those are entry-level chipsets.

HMD Global is yet another company that has been inspired by iPhone X’s design. Recent reports have revealed that the Nokia X (or Nokia X6) is an upcoming phone from HMD Global that will be arriving with a notched display. Fresh information states that HMD Global will be holding a week-long event at the Mercedes Me Square in Sanlitun, Beijing that will end on May 2. Even though some rumors have claimed that the handset will be called Nokia X6, marketing materials and images from the venue have revealed Nokia X moniker. There is a possibility that HMD Global could be resurrecting the Nokia X series from the yesteryear and the rumored Nokia X6 could be one of the phones from this lineup.

Since the week-long event has started from today, multiple images of the Nokia X6 have surfaced.  As it can be seen, the Nokia X6 has a notched screen. It is speculated that it could be featuring a 5.8-inch display that supports an aspect ratio of 19:9.

The chin of the Nokia X6 has the Nokia branding and it features rounded corners. The fingerprint scanner resides on the backside of the phone. The rear panel of the phone is made out of glass and it features a vertical dual camera module that includes the dual lenses followed by a dual-tone LED flash.

The rear design of the real handset is somewhat different from the leaked render of the phone (shown below) that has the dual-tone LED flash placed outside of the vertical dual camera module. Also, the chin of the device is slimmer in the below image.

Rumors surrounding the Nokia X6 have revealed that it would be available in two models. The base model will include MediaTek Helio P60 chipset and 4 GB of RAM and it will be priced at 1,599 Yuan (~$253). HMD Global has a launch on April 27 for a new phone called the Nokia X. Based on the current naming scheme, there are rumors that the Nokia X is actually the Nokia 10 and therefore will be a flagship device. Probably, even the most powerful device from HMD Global. New reports show that this may not be true.

Two new devices with model numbers TA-1099 and TA-1109 have been certified by the Chinese Communications Commission (3C). Unlike TENAA, 3C doesn’t reveal much about the specs of the phone but it does list the type of charger that will come with the device.

For both Nokia phones, they come with a 5V/2A (10W) charger. This is the basic charger that ships with most entry-level and mid-range devices that do not support fast charging. One of both phones is likely to be the Nokia X and for it to have a 10W charger, it is proof that it is not a flagship phone.

There has also been no hype surrounding the device. Other than the photos we saw two weeks ago, there have been no new teasers. So, it appears this device will be a mid-range or entry-level phone and not a flagship.

Do you remember the Nokia X? It was Nokia’s first Android smartphone that never felt like an Android phone. I’m sure Nokia doesn’t want you to remember because it was pretty much a failure. HMD Global, on the other hand, wants to bring it back on April 27.

Yes, photos have revealed that HMD Global has a launch scheduled for April 27 in China and the device is called the Nokia X. The photos show digital signposts that have silhouettes of two phones crossed against each other to form an X and the date of the launch- 27th of April.

The few details we can make out of the image is that the phone has a 2.5D curved display and a metal back. The metal body is also curved at the corners.

The upcoming Nokia X is a big surprise as no-one seems to have heard of it before now. We can’t say if it will be a mid-range phone or a flagship device. Nevertheless, we believe HMD Global will want to keep a tight lip until the launch day.

Thinking of it now, what if this isn’t called Nokia X (ex) but the Nokia X (10/Ten)? We can’t rule out that possibility seeing as its previous models are named after numbers. HMD Global’s Nokia has so far been impressive since the return of the brand. The models released have been received with global accolades for their sleek design, especially the durability aspect. Now, a relatively unknown Nokia X concept video and images have appeared online.

This concept design, we must admit differs from the concept designs we have seen lately. The design is different from our regular smartphones we have in the market presently but instead, it looks quite futuristic. There is no indication that HMD has a device in the works dubbed Nokia X. Well, except the Android phone bearing that name launched way back in 2014. So, the name is likely the coinage of the designer. That also makes the design a figment of the designer’s imagination.

The Nokia X concept comes with a metal body but there is a model with its body made from metal and glass. The display is a full-screen display with a notch. The notch or cut-out isn’t at the centre as we see in some models recently but the Nokia X’s display notch is at the top left corner. The device also comes with stereo speakers. At the rear, there is a fingerprint sensor for unlocking the device while Nokia’s logo sits in the middle. The logo is also at the lower-right corner of the phone’s front aspect. The Nokia X comes with a dual rear camera setup aligned horizontally with an LED flash in the centre of both sensors. There is also the ZEISS branding.
