The notch display design is getting wide acceptance among manufacturers especially since after Apple utilized the design on the iPhone X. Unfortunately, the design isn&#8217;t as popular among fans who are actually the end-users. But since it enables the designer to shave off almost all the bezels at the top in a bid to creating a near bezel-less screen, it may not be leaving very soon.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-4.png?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196191" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-4.png?x10805" alt="Nokia X6 software update" width="697" height="465" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-4.png 697w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-4-300x200.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 697px) 100vw, 697px" /></a></p>
<p>For those who don&#8217;t like the Nokia X6 because of its screen cut-out, Nokia has released a new update for the device. The update avails users of the option to hide the notch by activating a black border on that area. This is similar to the option <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/31/huawei-p20-comes-with-an-option-to-the-notch-on-the-display/">Huawei included on the notch-bearing P20 series</a>. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/04/oneplus-6s-notch-can-disabled-confirms-oneplus/">OnePlus 6 also has an option to hide the notch</a>. The Nokia X6 update is presently rolling in China and the update comes with a build number of 229D.B01. Apart from this option, the update also brings along a portrait mode, background app restrictions, and application hide feature. There are also some WLAN and game screen touch control-related optimizations. In addition, the update tags along the left swipe function to delete for SMS and a couple of improvements for the user interface.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-6.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-196193" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-6.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="350" height="739" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-6.jpg 350w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nokia-x6-update-6-142x300.jpg 142w" sizes="(max-width: 350px) 100vw, 350px" /></a></p>

<p>The Nokia X6 is yet to be launched for the global market but we may likely see the device launched with the updated version pre-installed. The X6 is turning to be a very popular model as it has gone on flash sale four times and the units have been sold out in record time all four times. The Nokia X6 is a premium mid-range device which packs a 5.8-inch display complete with a notch and 19:9 aspect ratio. The model is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 chipset and buyers have the option of either 4GB or 6GB of RAM with 32GB or 64GB internal storage options. The Nokia X6 equally comes with a dual camera setup at the rear consisting of a 16MP main sensor and a 5MP secondary camera. At the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera and keeping the lights on is a 3060mAh battery. The International version is expected to ship with stock Android 8.1 Oreo as part of the Android One program.</p>

The X6 is coming as Nokia&#8217;s first smartphone with a notch on its display and we must admit the device lived up to expectation, that is if you have no problem with smartphones having a display notch.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-3.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191363" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-3.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="690" height="460" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-3.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>Indeed, the Nokia X6 comes with a cut-out on its display which is a compromise on the symmetry so as to create a near bezel-less display design. That is obvious at the top edge and the sides but the chin still has a noticeable bezel. The front design really isn&#8217;t very much different from other notch-packing smartphones around except that the cut-out is just moderate in size, a little bigger than the Essential Phone&#8217;s and smaller than iPhone X&#8217;s. The display size is 5.88 inches with the 19:9 aspect ratio and an FHD+ resolution of 2280 × 1080 pixels. The display gets further protection from a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 panel.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-2.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191337" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-2.jpg?x10805" alt="Nokia X6" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-2-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The back of the Nokia X6 is just as premium as the front aspect. While the mid-frame is made of aluminium alloy, the rear panel is wrapped with Corning Gorilla Glass just like the display, giving the device a glass body. The premium look will be available in Black, White and Dark Blue colours. The volume rockers and power buttons lie at the right side of the display while the SIM tray is at the left side.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-4.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191339" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-4.jpg?x10805" alt="Nokia X6" width="600" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-4.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/nokia-x6-4-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>The device further packs a dual camera setup at the rear which is aligned in a vertical plane at the middle. The rear camera is a 16MP+5MP combo with a 16MP sensor at the front for selfies. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just under the cameras but there is equally Face Unlock feature onboard. Other top-notch features include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C. The device gets its juice from a 3,060mAh which from experience, isn&#8217;t the best they could have done but there is QC 3.0 fast charging technology onboard. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-8.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-191368" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-8.jpg?x10805" alt="nokia x6" width="690" height="460" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-8.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Nokia-X6-8-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

<p>The Nokia X6 impresses with its prices, coming in at 1,299 Yuan (~$204) for the 4GB+32GB variant while the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage model costs 1,499 Yuan (~$236).
