<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In the report, Emma Xu, an analyst at Canalys, said: &#8220;While the first quarter of 2022 remained relatively strong, China&#8217;s </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pc/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> industry faces further challenges on both the supply and demand sides as the impact of the country&#8217;s COVID-19 lockdown intensifies.&#8221; </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">&#8220;The supply shortage of key components such as SoCs has persisted. By the first quarter, production and logistics conditions deteriorated mainly due to the lockdown of key cities such as Shanghai and Kunshan. At the same time, business and consumer activities were restricted amid a deteriorating economy, threatening domestic demand for </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pc/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">s, weakening consumer spending and constraining business demand, especially from SMEs. This will challenge China&#8217;s </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pc/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> makers for the rest of 2022. Public sector procurement will also be curtailed as the government plans to tighten budgets this year.&#8221;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Emma had also remarked: &#8220;But the education sector in China will likely remain a bright spot, as the goal of closing socioeconomic disparities and improving vocational education programs will drive investment that favours the technology market. Finally, the competitive landscape for Chinese </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/pc/"><span style="font-weight: 400">PC</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> sellers will be more favourable for local brands. The government currently has security concerns over the use of hardware and software developed by foreign entities. Suppliers such as </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Huawei </span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">and Tongfang will see unprecedented opportunities as core players in China&#8217;s &#8216;start-up&#8217; industry, which is focused on developing domestic IT Innovation.&#8221;</span></p>

These will mark a new breed of notebooks, which are expected to hit the commercial market sometime in the second half of this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-253053 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop.jpeg?x10805" alt="Intel" width="3840" height="2160" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop.jpeg 3840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/lenovo-foldable-laptop-1920x1080.jpeg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3840px) 100vw, 3840px" /></p>
<p>According to a <a href="https://www.digitimes.com/news/a20210104PD209.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>DigiTimes</em> </a>report, the chip making giant will have its chips power these new laptops. In other words, the development of notebooks with foldable displays has been gaining momentum and we could soon see laptop PC makers launch their offerings soon. As per the report, Intel has been developing notebooks with bending screens, which should hit the market by the end of 2021.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/01/05/xiaomi-mi-10i-5g-with-120hz-display-snapdragon-750g-flagship-108mp-hm2-camera-launched-for-rs-20999-287/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi Mi 10i 5G with 120Hz display, SD750G, flagship 108MP HM2 camera launched for Rs 20,999 (~$287)</a></strong></h6>
<p>Notably, the report also states that the development of this new type of laptop has already reached the final stages of its development. At the moment, finer details regarding foldable screen notebooks are unknown, but DigiTimes has also reported on its possible pricing. As per its sources that are close to the supply chain, these foldable display laptops could be priced upwards of 70,000 New Taiwanese Dollars (or roughly about 2,469 US Dollars).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-348915 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo.jpg?x10805" alt="Intel" width="1268" height="664" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo.jpg 1268w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/Intel-Logo-802x420.jpg 802w" sizes="(max-width: 1268px) 100vw, 1268px" /></p>
<p>This is a steep price to pay, although, the size of the foldable display itself could be one of the major reasons for its high price tag. Unfortunately, we currently have no way of confirming this news, so take the reported launch frame with a pinch of salt and stay tuned for more, as we will be providing more updates when additional information is available.</p>
