So here’s everything you need to know.

Nothing Phone (3) for just Rs 34,999: But here’s the catch

To recall, the brand unveiled the Nothing Phone (3) as its first true flagship smartphone, with a premium starting price tag of Rs 79,999. This price tag had initially alienated some of the original fans of the Nothing high end phones, since it marked a notable jump in pricing. But now, the company will soon sell the Nothing Phone (3) for just Rs 34,999, which is basically a sizeable Rs 45,000 discount.

Keep in mind that this price slash includes bank discounts and exchange offers. For Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) owners, exchanging their older devices gets the best deal. So existing Nothing smartphone users will need to enter the IMEI number on either the company’s official website or Flipkart to receive a unique discount code. This is not the only new device that is receiving the discount, as Nothing also plans to make its mid range and budget phones more affordable during the Flipkart Big Billion Day sales.

The Nothing Phone (3a) Pro was initially announced for Rs 29,999, but will sell for around Rs 24,999, while the Nothing Phone (3a) is dropping down to Rs 20,999 from Rs 24,999. Lastly, even the CMF Phone 2 Pro is getting a Rs 4,000 discount for an effective price tag of just Rs 14,999.

Nothing has started rolling out a new update for the Phone (2). The firmware version is Nothing OS V3.2-250828-1921. The rollout is staggered, so not all users will get it at the same time. This lets the company monitor the update and keep deployment stable.

The update adds new features to the Camera app. A Preset option is now available in settings. A new “Stretch” preset has also been added, created with photographer Jordan Hemingway. It brings stronger shadows and extended highlights for a different look. The default gallery option for photo previews in the Camera app has been updated as well.

Widgets get new functions too. The pedometer and screentime widgets now support sharing. Shared widgets can also use more sticker types.

There are several fixes and improvements across the system. Quick Settings tiles display errors have been fixed. An issue that stopped PDFs from opening in cloned apps has been resolved. The display of the VoNR icon in the status bar has been improved. The problem of blocking connected devices in hotspot and tethering has been fixed. Battery usage when connecting watches has been optimized. Font display issues with Inter in Instagram, Subito and other apps have been corrected. System stability and network connection have also been improved. The update also brings the September Android security patch.

Nothing Phone (2) debuted with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 back in 2023, which was still a high end processor, but it was behind the current gen flagships that featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 at the time. As Android 15 is nearing its official launch, many smartphone makers are inviting users to test the upcoming update through beta programs. Nothing also recently launched its Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta program based on the latest Android OS.

But in a surprising twist, the company’s budget-friendly Phone (2a) received the update first, leaving its flagship Phone (2) out in the cold for the time being.

Why Phone (2a) received Android 15 update before Phone (2)

Akis Evangelidis, co-founder of Nothing, addressed this unexpected rollout strategy in a statement on social media platform X. 

Traditionally, new software updates land on a company’s top-of-the-line devices first. While Akis acknowledged that many expected the Phone (2) to be the first beta recipient, he explained the decision boiled down to technical optimization.

Much like other OEMs, Nothing relies on chip manufacturers like Qualcomm and MediaTek to adapt major Android updates to their processors.

In this case, Akis explains that MediaTek completed the optimization for the Phone (2a)’s Dimensity 7200 Pro processor faster than Qualcomm did for the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 used in the Phone (2). 

So rather than wait for the Phone (2) implementation to catch up, Nothing opted to prioritize early user testing with its budget device. 

“We wanted one of our users to start testing it as soon as possible,” says Akis. “This way, we can gather feedback and ensure we’re ready to roll out the public release of Nothing OS 3.0 by the end of the year.”

Looking forward, the co-founder acknowledges the need to prioritize its flagship devices as the company expands its product portfolio. 

While the Phone (2a) gets early access to the beta, the Nothing OS 3.0 update for the Phone (2) isn’t far behind. It’s set to roll out in November, with other phones, including the Phone (1), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 1, receiving the update in December.

It’s unclear whether these devices will be sold under the Nothing or CMF brand, and no technical details or release dates are confirmed. However, the smartphones are predicted to be announced in about 3-4 months.

The CEO and Founder of Nothing has just announced a new feature that is making its way to the brand’s existing smartphone models. Now, Nothing Phone (1) and Phone (2) users can use ChatGPT as a voice assistant, so here’s how to enable this feature.

Nothing Phones receive ChatGPT Voice Assistant

In a recent tweet, Carl Pei confirmed that the AI powered assistant will be making its way to the company’s two smartphones. Owners of these devices can get access to the voice assistant, which is similar to Apple’s Siri and the Google Assistant. To use this feature, you can check out the simple steps listed below:

• Head to the Google Play Store to download and install the ChatGPT application.
• Once the app is downloaded, you can add the ChatGPT shortcut to the Quick Settings panel or add it as a widget.
• Simply tapping on this shortcut icon will run the ChatGPT powered voice assistant.
• Users can now ask questions and give voice commands to the assistant.

The senior official even shared a short video highlighting this feature on X (formerly Twitter). It is worth noting that the ChatGPT assistant doesn’t outright replace the default voice assistant on the Nothing Phone series devices. Although, using them by holding the home button or power button will no longer be possible.

Based on what we know so far, the company is also working on a new Phone 2a model as well. We can expect this phone to arrive with support for this feature as well. As the name suggests, it is a cut down version of the Phone 2 and was recently sighted on the TUV Rheinland certification.

Nothing is a bit late to join the stable Android 14 party, but it is always better late than never. After the consecutive Nothing OS 2.5 Closed Beta and a couple of Open Beta 2 builds, the company is set to launch the stable version of Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 for Nothing Phone (2) in the coming “few days.” The company informed us about the development via its official handle on X.com.

Along with Nothing Phone (2), Nothing Phone (1) will get the first Open Beta build before the end of this year. The Phone (1) is currently on the Nothing OS 2.5 Closed Beta build. There have been several new features and enhancements that will be part of the latest OS iteration. Along with Android 14’s enhanced features, improved security, and refined privacy settings, Nothing has added several OS-based features like icing on the cake.

Nothing OS 2.5 Features and Improvements

There’s a redesigned Home Screen and Lock Screen interface that offers even more customization options. Several new wallpaper effects have been added, which make the home screen look cleaner and more tidy. A major change to the Glyph Interface is part of the package, the company improved the logic of Flip to Glph and added direct access to the Glyph Timer from the lock screen. Further., the Glyph Time supports time presets for quick duration settings.

Several other improvements to the gestures and other parts of the phone have been made. Below are some other changes:

Customizable double-press power button for quick access to chosen features.
Additional Lock Screen shortcut options, including Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
Three-finger swipe gesture for quick screenshot capture.

Optimized Weather app experience with improved weather alert notifications.
Predictive back animation and refreshed back gesture arrow visual in line with Nothing’s style.

Enhanced overall system stability for a reliable and smooth experience.

All these features will be part of the Nothing OS 2.5 beta. The official rollout may start seeding in the next couple of days for the Nothing Phone (2). Users can manually check for updates by heading to the Phone Settings > System > System Update.

The Nothing Phone (2) after the recent price cut is priced at Rs 39,999, Rs 44,999, and Rs 49,999 for the 8GB + 128GB, 12GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 512GB RAM and storage configurations. The base variant has not received any discounted price. 

As a part of the Christmas offer, the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB are now cheaper for purchase on Flipkart, Croma, and Vijay sales. The discounted price tags on both variants are different on Flipkart and partner retail stores. Additionally, It’s worth noting that the Nothing Phone (2) is offered in White and Dark Grey color options. The revised prices mentioned in the table are for the White color variant whereas the Dark Grey is available at a higher price. 

The Nothing Phone (2) 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB are discounted by Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively on Flipkart. There are bank offers for PNB and Bank of Baroda cardholders, free Spotify Premium, and exchange offer on the e-commerce platform. Meanwhile, the prices of the same configurations on Vijay Sales and Croma are reduced by Rs 7,000 and Rs 9,999 respectively. Only Vijay sales is offering various bank offers that can make the purchase price cheaper.

The Nothing Phone (2) has become the first Android smartphone to receive official Apple iMessage support. The official iMessage support is now available with the Nothing Phone (2) based on the Nothing Chatts app.

Nothing Chats are designed to allow the smartphone to switch seamlessly to iPhones. It is an alternative to the Sunbird app and Google continues to encourage Apple to make iMessage compatible with Android. The Nothing Chats seeks to overcome the iMessage challenge for Android smartphones. Nothing says it has developed the app in partnership with Sunbird but it excludes Sunbird’s waitlist exclusivity.

The Nothing Chats app will go live on Google Play Store on November 17. Compatibility of the Nothing Chats is currently limited to the Nothing Phone (2). Users must link their Apple iCloud account to Nothing Chats for its integration with iMessage. The Nothing Phone (2) is available via Amazon starting at $699.

There are privacy issues related to the Nothing Chats. Although Nothing has stated that it does not cache messages on servers, a malicious third-party entity could theoretically assess personal data.

The new app lacks emoji reactions, message editing, and read receipts, as present in iMessage. Apart from limiting usage of Nothing Chats to the Phone (2), the app will only be available in the US, UK, Canada, and the EU. The availability of the Nothing Chats app is expected to spread to other markets subsequently. Additionally, the Nothing Phone (1) could also be integrated with Nothing Chats.

Predictive Back is now supported on all Nothing apps, and there are more options for the double-press power button gesture. Users will also experience improved reliability with the three-finger swipe gesture, and several status bar icons have received a refresh. With that out of the way, the brand has now released the Nothing OS 2.0.3 update for the device that comes with a bunch of bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements and also brings the promised Zomato Glyph Progress support feature.

The Nothing OS 2.0.3 adds a compass widget which you can put on your home screen. Zomato order progression will now be represented on the Glyph interface. The update also has some quality-of-life improvements like an increased Screen Recorder capture resolution, snappier keyboard popup animation speed, and better haptic feedback. Earlier this month, Nothing introduced the Nothing OS 2.0.2 update that came with a lot of changes to the camera system among other areas. Although it was meant to be for the better, however, it ended up making the quality of the pictures taken from the Nothing Phone (2) worse. Now, the brand has released a correctional update labeled Nothing OS 2.0.2a that fixes the issues caused by the previous update.

This update enhances facial clarity when capturing indoor scenes, optimizes highlight levels in low-light conditions, and introduces a user interface to display active HDR status. Additionally, it addresses the reduction of dull tones and resolves the halo effect problem experienced in portrait mode while shooting in HDR. Nothing recently released the Nothing OS 2.0.2 update for its newly launched Phone (2) smartphone. The update was supposed to bring a number of camera improvements, but some users are reporting that it has actually degraded the camera performance. The update has apparently made the HDR performance worse and the photos now fail to retain shadows.

Nothing Phone (2)’s cameras reportedly getting worse

In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), a YouTuber @Pmkphotoworks says the Nothing OS 2.0.2 update has degraded the camera quality of the Phone (2). They said the HDR performance has become “much worse” and that the photos look “very bland.” They also report that Phone (2) is failing to retain shadows and is showing uneven skin tone brightening. The YouTuber also shared a set of pictures (embedded below) to highlight these issues.

YouTuber @r3dash echoed the sentiment, saying that the Nothing Phone (2) has been “very inconsistent and weird with processing HDR.” They also noted that it is ironic that the OTA update was meant to improve HDR, but it seems to have had the opposite effect.

To remind you, Nothing OS 2.0.2 began rolling out to the Phone (2) on August 4th. The changelog for the update included a lengthy list of camera-focused improvements, including:

Nothing’s semi-transparent phones have set the company apart from the rest of the Android pack. And when you do something unique, it’s only a matter of time before others start taking inspiration from you. That’s exactly what’s happening with the Nothing Phone (2). Infinix has announced a new gaming phone for the Indian market, the Infinix GT 10 Pro, which takes its design cues from the new Nothing phone.

Taking inspiration from existing products isn’t always a bad thing. Most new art or technology, after all, is based on something that came before it. And, given that the Infinix GT 10 Pro is significantly cheaper than the Nothing Phone(2), could it be the low-cost, similar-looking alternative we’ve been looking for? Let’s find out.

Infinix GT 10 Pro gets the semi-transparent design right

What sets the Nothing Phone (2) apart is its transparent design with a LED light interface on the back. This is not something you see on any phone in the market. Of course, the see-through glass on the back doesn’t reveal the actual component of the phones. Nothing cleverly hides the phone’s internals behind plastic covers. Only the induction coil for two-way wireless charging and a ribbon cable, which likely connects to the battery, can be identified as authentic components.

Infinix basically follows the same idea and makes the GT 10 Pro semi-transparent like the Nothing Phone (2). However, it wouldn’t be fair to call it a copycat. It’s clear that Infinix made its phone with gamers in mind. While you do get a see-through back, the internal modeling is done very differently and doesn’t look anything like Nothing’s phone. Not to mention, the Infinix GT 10 Pro sports an unusual camera module that we haven’t seen on any other phone.

Similar to the Nothing Phone (2)’s Glyph Interface, the Infinix GT 10 Pro also has mini-LEDs on the back. These LEDs will likely create an interactive backlight interface. For example, they might light up when you launch a game, or they might flash to notify you of new messages or charging status. This feature could be very useful if you use it right. We are not sure if Infinix will also offer customization options like Nothing.

All in all, the Infinix GT 10 Pro doesn’t look half bad when it comes to design. In fact, it is a potential alternative to the Nothing Phone (2) for those who are looking for a transparent phone at a much more affordable price.

Infinix GT 10 Pro also doesn’t comprise on specifications

Before we talk about the specs, it’s important to know that the Nothing Phone (2) starts in India at ₹44,999 ($549), while the Infinix GT 10 Pro will be priced less than ₹20,000 ($244). That means the GT 10 Pro costs less than half of the Phone (2). However, that doesn’t mean the GT 10 Pro has underwhelming specs. In fact, its specs make it look like the best phone in its category, at least on paper.

From what is known so far, Infinix GT 10 Pro will bring an impressive 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While this is not as good as Nothing Phone (2)’s 120Hz LTPO OLED panel, it’s still pretty decent for the price. The panel should be sufficiently bright and also show smooth graphics during gaming thanks to the high refresh rate.

Infinix GT 10 Pro is the brand’s latest gaming phone. While it doesn’t pack a top-of-the-line chipset like Nothing Phone (2)’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, it still gets a practical mid-range SoC— the Dimensity 8050. This is one of MediaTek’s new processors based on the 6nm process, and early benchmarks suggest it can tackle most of the popular titles you’d play on a phone (via Nanoreview). We are talking about BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Free Fire.

The Dimensity 8050 chip on the phone will likely be paired with 8GB LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. Infinix GT 10 Pro gets a 5,000mAh battery, which is larger than Nothing Phone (2)’s 4,700mAh unit. It gets 45W charging support but there’s no wireless or reverse charging, of course.

The camera system on the Infinix GT 10 Pro doesn’t look bad on paper. Reports say it has a 108MP triple camera setup on the rear and a 32MP shooter on the front. While we shouldn’t expect earth-shattering picture quality, even the Nothing Phone (2) doesn’t offer that. You should be able to take good enough pictures in most scenarios with this camera setup.

Nothing has also managed to make its software stand out from the competition, giving users a more minimalist and bloatware-free experience. Officially, we don’t know if there will be any changes to the software on the Infinix GT 10 Pro, but Gizmochina’s author Anvin has tried the phone and adds that it offers a bloatware-free and ad-free UI (ZionsAnvin).

So is it a good affordable Nothing Phone (2) alternative?

The Nothing Phone (2) is a decent upgrade over the Phone (1), but it’s not worth the price for everyone. The phone’s flashy looks are its main selling point, but its hardware is not better than most phones in the same price range. The Moto Edge 40 and Poco F5 Pro easily beat the Nothing Phone (2) in terms of hardware, and they also cost much less.

But if you want to experience similar flashy looks and spend much less, Infinix GT 10 Pro could be a killer alternative. Here are some of the key reasons why the Infinix GT 10 Pro might be the affordable Nothing Phone (2):

• Similar semi-transparent design with a LED light interface on the back
• Impressive specs for the price, including a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, the Dimensity 8050 chip, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 108MP triple camera setup
• Much more affordable than the Nothing Phone (2)

Nothing launched its second smartphone, the Nothing Phone (2) in the global markets yesterday. It arrived with significant upgrades over its predecessor. It has a different Glyph Interface, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC under the hood, a 50MP Sony IMX890 main camera, and a larger 4,700mAh battery unit. Now, the device has undergone popular YouTuber Zack Nelson’s (aka JerryRigEverything) comprehensive durability test. Read on to find out how the phone fares in all durability aspects. 

Nothing Phone (2) durability test

The Nothing Phone (2) undergoes Zack’s array of durability tests including scratch, scrape, burn, and lastly bend test. The YouTuber begins by scratching the display of the device. It produces scratches at level 6 Mohs hardness scale with deeper grooves at level 7. This is quite common for Gorilla Glass-shielded screens. Both the front and back camera sensors are also protected by glass and don’t get easily scratched. Notably, the fingerprint sensor also works impressively despite being scratched multiple times. 

The Nothing Phone (2) has a boxy side aluminum frame. It takes scratches on all sides in the scrape test. The smartphone also performs well in the burn test withstanding flame for nearly 25 seconds by remaining unscathed. There is a White spot where the flame hits and the dead pixels are restored quickly without any damage. 

Now comes the ultimate tense part of JerryRigEverything’s durability tests – the bend test. Zack tries bending the Phone (2) twice from the left side where the volume rocker buttons are located and it stays intact. However, things become a little concerning when he tries bending from the right side and there is a noticeable separation where the power key is located. However, the device holds its ground even after three attempts.

The hands-on images reveal the device comes with a robust Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, a powerful camera system featuring 50MP+50MP rear cameras and a 32MP front camera, and impressive storage options of 12GB+512GB. The phone also sports a 6.7-inch OLED display and operates on the Android 13-based NOTHING OS 2.0.0.

TechDocterz also shed light on the layout of the power and volume buttons, the images even revealing the packaging box. According to the leakster, the packaging box includes a SIM eject pin, 1m Type-C to Type-C transparent charging cable, safety information, and a warranty card.

Nothing Phone (2) launch date, pre-order details

The Nothing Phone (2) is set to debut on July 11 at 4 pm BST (8:30 pm IST). The launch event will likely be live-streamed on the company’s official YouTube channel. Pre-orders of the upcoming device are currently live in various countries. The Phone (2) and the Ear (2) will also be available for purchase at pop-up stores called Nothing Drops in various countries. They will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Nothing is setting its first pop-store in Bengaluru

Nothing announced that it will be setting up a pop-up store called Nothing Drops in India. The store will allow consumers to try the upcoming Nothing Phone (2) and the Black Ear (2) in person. Alongside the new phone, Nothing Ear Stick, Nothing Power 45W charger, and Nothing Phone 2 accessories will also be available at the Nothing Drops location in Bengaluru. The store will be located at Lulu Mall in Gopalapura, Binnipete, and will open on July 14 at 6:30 pm IST.

The store will have limited stock, and once sold out, Nothing will not restock any products. It will be a first-come, first-served event. So, if you don’t want to miss out, mark your calendars. These offline stores will not only be in India but also in London, New York, Paris, Berlin, Dubai, and Kuala Lumpur from July 13 to July 15.

But some like OnePlus changed this trend with their bright red colored charging cables. Taking inspiration from Carl Pei’s old company, Nothing too is looking to innovate accessory design. It recently revealed a transparent USB Type-C cable designed for the upcoming Nothing Phone (2).

Let’s take a closer look at this “see-through” cable design and explore what makes it so intriguing.

What does Nothing’s Transparent Cable look like?

Imagine holding a cable with transparent shells, housing the Type-C connectors at both ends. Yes, you heard it right – this cable provides a captivating glimpse into the inner workings of the connector.

The Nothing transparent cable showcases a sleek and sophisticated design. While the exact details are yet to be confirmed, it appears that only the outer shell of the cable, housing the Type-C connectors, is transparent. The transparent shell, made of hardened transparent polycarbonate or clear rubber, offers a visually appealing aesthetic. The Nothing branding is etched on the connector. Nothing says it took 2 years to perfect this Design

The transparent shell has reportedly undergone a unique moulding process, resulting in a seamless iron shell, free from lines and surface defects. This shell is then subjected to sandblasting, pre-plating, and electroless plating to make it resistant to scratches.

Nothing says that it has tested this cable to make sure it is durable. It has been put through more than 25 rigorous tests, including stringent plugging and unplugging, salt spray, and current resistance tests. The cable’s endurance is impressive, withstanding bending and passing over 16,000 times, a robust 60% beyond industry standards.

The brand further revealed that the cable’s journey from concept to reality spanned over two years, with over 20 design concepts initially in play. Many were discarded as they were deemed too challenging to manufacture.

From the picture shared on social media, it does look like the cable offers a good balance between avant-garde design and practical manufacturability.

Transparent Cables are not really unique

Transparent cables are not entirely new; indeed, a quick Google search reveals numerous examples from various manufacturers that are available on Amazon. However, it’s not just about being transparent. It’s about how this transparency is employed and executed.

Many existing transparent cables on the market can seem a bit over the top with their design approach, often featuring vibrant lights and bold colors. While these designs may catch your eye initially, they can also come across as gimmicky, especially when the novelty wears off. The aesthetic may not always blend well with the premium and minimalist design language that many tech devices follow these days.

This is where we feel Nothing’s transparent cable stands out. The cable doesn’t incorporate flashy lights or extravagant design elements. Even if this transparent cable might not appeal to the mass market, there seems to be a section of the population who value the opportunity to use something that stands out.

Final Verdict: Cool or Not?

Undeniably, the Nothing Transparent cable has a unique elegance in its design. From my perspective, the cable has its charm and I am attracted to its uniqueness. It would certainly make for an interesting conversation piece.

But is it truly a game-changing invention? I’m not so sure.

Its standout feature – transparent ends – might not suffice to distinguish it from the crowd. The majority of the cable remains opaque and a rather plain white, diminishing the impact of the transparency.

Ultimately, design preference remains a matter of personal taste. The charm of the cable hinges on whether the novelty of partial transparency appeals to you. There are certainly those who will continue to gravitate towards the predictability of standard, solid-colored cables.

On July 11th, Nothing will be launching the Nothing Phone (2) smartphone for the global market. The brand has already revealed what the device looks like, while MKBHD did a video about his limited hands-on experience with the smartphone. Now, tipster Kamila Wojciechowska has filled in the missing details of the Nothing Phone (2).

In a recent leak thread poster on Twitter, the leaker revealed screenshots of the Nothing OS 2.0, while also leaking some key specifications of the device. According to Kamila, the Nothing Phone (2) will feature an upgraded primary 50MP camera, featuring the Sony IMX890 sensor. The camera will use optical image stabilization and in-sensor zoom. It is worth noting that this is the same sensor used in the OnePlus 11, and a major upgrade over the IMX766 sensor in the Phone (1).

The ultra-wide sensor will be unchanged, meaning the same Samsung JN1 with EIS, and the front camera will have a 32MP Sony IMX615 sensor with EIS. Along with the upgraded sensor, image processing will also be new, so we can expect some improvements from these sensors.

According to the tipster, the upcoming Phone (2) is rumored to sport a 6.72-inch AMOLED display supplied by Visionox, with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 pixels. This display will impress with its 120Hz refresh rate, offering a smooth and responsive user experience. To optimize power consumption, the refresh rate will dynamically adjust to lower frequencies, such as 1Hz, 10Hz, 24Hz, or 30Hz when necessary. Additionally, the device is expected to retain an optical fingerprint sensor provided by Goodix, ensuring convenient and secure biometric authentication.

Looking at these images, we can see press renders that offers us a complete look at the Phone (2) model from the front, back, and sides. Furthermore, it showcases the design for both the White and new Gray color option. Apart from this, evleaks also leaked the promo marketing images of the Nothing Phone (2).

These pictures confirm what we already know with the new and updated Glyph interface on the slightly more curved rear panel. Nothing has even partnered with Swedish House Mafia for the Glyph composer, which let’s you make your own ringtone. We finally have a first proper look at the Nothing Phone (2) in all its glory. The upcoming device’s entire design was teased in a recent YouTube video, which offers us a glimpse at the various changes and improvements made to its design, especially its Glyph LED interface. So let’s have a look.

Nothing Phone (2) Glyph interface brings new functions & upgrades

Talking about the overall design first, the exclusive MKBHD video compared the Phone (2) with its predecessor, the Phone (1). Here, we can see that there are barely any changes in the dimensions of the smartphone and its design language, which makes sense considering the brand is just starting off. Although, the back is apparently slightly more curved while the front retains the flat display.

The layout of the Glyph LEDs also follows a similar pattern, but there is a big change in the strips themselves and their overall functionality. Previously, the Phone (1) featured 12 different LED lighting zones that were controlled by the software. Now, the Phone (2) offers a much higher 33 zones. Out of these, 16 alone are housed in the arc LED strip situated on the center-right.

This was to add a bunch of features to this LED strip. It is now capable of doubling as a volume indicator, indicates a countdown timer, and will even support Uber and Zomato in the future with the light indicating the distance of your cab/food delivery. MKBHD showcased new customization options as well, with the top right LED strip now lighting up when a particular app notification is set to be highlighted.
