Nothing has rolled out a new update for the Phone (2a). The software, listed as Nothing OS V3.2-250815-1642, brings changes to widgets, camera, system stability, and includes the September 2025 security patch.

Widgets get several improvements. Shared widgets now support more sticker types. The Pedometer and Screentime widgets can now be shared. The Weather widget has an optimized location access prompt for smoother permission requests.

The camera app has been updated with better stability for photo and video use. A new setting allows users to choose a default gallery app to preview photos directly from the camera.

System functions see a number of fixes and optimizations. Pop-up View now runs with improved stability. Quick Settings tile display errors have been corrected. Cloned apps no longer fail to open PDF files. The VoNR icon in the status bar has been adjusted for clearer display.

Battery usage has been optimized when connecting watches to the phone. A fix has been applied for Inter font display problems that appeared in apps such as Instagram and Subito. System performance has been improved, and overall stability has been strengthened.

The update also applies the September Android security patch, which addresses vulnerabilities and improves device security.

Nothing OS V3.2-250815-1642 is rolling out in phases and will reach all Phone (2a) users in the coming days.

Nothing Phone (3a) is the latest addition to the company’s smartphone portfolio, and it brings meaningful upgrades over its predecessor, the Nothing Phone (2a). The newer model also follows Nothing’s design language with a transparent back and Glyph light. However, it also brings a faster Snapdragon chipset, a slightly bigger and better display, and faster charging.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is still a compelling mid-range smartphone at a lower price point. But does the Nothing Phone (3a) bring enough upgrades to justify the extra cost, or is the Phone (2a) still a strong contender in the mid-range market?

Nothing Phone (3a) vs (2a): Design and build

The Nothing Phone (3a) maintains the company’s signature transparent aesthetics that instantly sets you apart from the crowd. The phone still has three LED strips on the back that light up in different ways to tell you about incoming notifications, calls, charging progress, and volume levels. You can also use it as a fill light for photography and a countdown timer. What’s different is an additional camera on the rear side. The Phone (3a) is, in fact, the first company’s first phone to have a triple rear camera setup.

The Phone (3a) brings an additional “Essential key” below the power button on the right side. It’s placed in a weird position as you may sometimes mistake it for the power key, though it’s better than not having it as it lets you: take screen (single press), record an audio note (long press), and open a new Essential Space (double press).

The (3a) also bumps the IP rating to IP64 (vs. IP54 on the Phone (2a)). This means the former has better dust protection, though the water resistance level remains the same — both can only survive water splashes.

Nothing Phone (3a) vs (2a): Display

The newer model has a 6.77-inch screen, which is slightly bigger than the Phone (2a)’s 6.7-inch. It’s still an AMOLED screen with the same resolution and 120Hz refresh rate support. However, the (3a) can get much brighter with a peak brightness of 3000nits (vs. 1300nits on its predecessor).

The optical fingerprint sensor works similarly as last year’s — it can feel a bit slow sometimes but is accurate. Overall, both phones have excellent screens, the only major difference being the peak brightness.

Nothing Phone (3a) vs (2a): Camera

The biggest upgrade for Nothing Phone (3a) is the new 50MP telephoto camera, which we don’t see on budget phones (including the (2a)). That’s a nice addition, which should greatly improve the zoom quality in photos and videos. So, you can now capture up to 8X zoom shots with more details than before.

The primary camera is still the same 50MP, but the ultrawide sensor is downgraded to 8MP.

The zoom performance is where you’ll see the difference; otherwise, the camera performance is similar on both phones.

Nothing Phone (3a) vs (2a): Performance & software

The Nothing Phone (2a) features a customized Dimensity 7200 Pro that delivers better performance and efficiency than the regular Dimensity 7200. It works fine and delivers smooth performance. However, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 inside the Nothing Phone (3a) is a step forward.

The Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 delivers better CPU as well as graphics performance. While the difference isn’t massive, the overall software experience feels smoother. Here are the benchmarking numbers from AnTuTu and Geekbench.

Talking about the software, both Nothing phones will get three years of OS updates. It’s decent for mid-range phones but not as good as other brands like Samsung and Google. You should also note that while the (3a) will receive OS updates up to Android 17, the (3a) will also get Android 18 because the newer model ships with Android 15 out of the box.

Nothing Phone (3a) vs (2a): Battery & charging

The Phone (3a) houses the same 5,000mAh battery as the Nothing Phone (2a), but that doesn’t make them last for the same number of hours. Thanks to the more efficient Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, the Phone (3a) gives you at least one hour of extended usage. With web browsing, you can get up to three hours of extra battery life on the newer model.

The charging speed also gets a slight upgrade, jumping from 45W to 50W. Unfortunately, neither phone has wireless charging support.

Nothing Phone (3a) is an excellent mid-range phone and a nice upgrade over the Phone (2a). While the new telephoto camera is the biggest upgrade, the phone also brings a better IP rating for dust protection, a more powerful and efficient chipset, and faster charging support. The display also gets slightly bigger with a big bump to the peak brightness, making the content more visible outdoors.

1. A brighter and vibrant display

The Pixel 8a’s screen is slightly smaller than the Nothing Phone 2a. This may be an advantage or disadvantage, depending on how you’re going to use it. So, I’ll leave that to you. For the rest part, the Pixel almost wins over the Nothing Phone 2a.

The Pixel 8a has an OLED panel that has vibrant colors and better color accuracy than the AMOLED panel fitted inside the Nothing’s phone. 2. Excellent cameras

The Pixel 8a is superior to Nothing Phone 2a in terms of camera quality. It produces detailed images with good color accuracy across various lighting conditions.

There is no optical sensor on either phone, but the zoom shots using the main camera are still excellent. I’d still prefer the Pixel 8a because it captures more details.

Both smartphones take excellent ultrawide shots. However, the Pixel 8a allows more people in a frame because of a higher field of view. The Nothing Phone 2a’s ultrawide shots look brightened up more than the Pixel 8a’s, which hurts the highlights in high-contrast scenes, while the Pixel outputs a more realistic picture.

The color reproduction, closeup shots, and dynamic range are better handled by Pixel 8a than Nothing Phone 2a. It also does a better job with selfies and portraits.

3. Faster chipset

Pixel 8a has the Tensor G3 chip at its core, whereas the Nothing Phone 2a is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro. Both are excellent chipsets and hold up very well to everyday tasks without lag. However, when you play high-end games, the Pixel 8a tends to perform better than the Nothing Phone 2a.

The Tensor G3 has more powerful CPU and GPU performance than the Dimensity 7200 Pro. That’s because the Tensor chip has a Cortex-X3 big core, while the Dimensity 7200 Pro lacks big cores. The latter has two mid cores and six small cores.

The Pixel 8a will get seven years of OS updates, security updates, and Pixel Feature Drops. That’s the best software support on any Android smartphone. The Nothing Phone 2a, on the other hand, only promises three Android updates and four years of security patch updates.

Both phones come with Android 14 out of the box. So, Android 17 will be the final OS upgrade for Phone 2a, while the Pixel 8a will continue to receive updates until Android 21. Google Pixels not only provides longer software updates but also gives you the cleanest Android experience.

These were four strong reasons to pick the Pixel 8a over the Nothing Phone 2a. However, there are two areas where the latter takes the lead. Let’s talk about that.

The Nothing phone only takes about an hour to completely refill the battery, while the Pixel 8a needs an extra hour to reach 100%. The Pixel 8a also supports 7.5W wireless charging, though.

On the rear, this is the only option with a triple camera setup with 64MP (Main) + 8MP (Ultrawide) + 2MP (Marco) sensors. Under the hood, the POCO X6 Pro is equipped with the Dimensity 8300 Ultra SoC. A sizeable 5,000mAh battery pack powers this device, with support for 67W wired fast charging.

After launching the Phone 2a in March, Nothing recently introduced a new smartphone under its sub-brand CMF with a unique modular back design. Just when it seemed like the company was finished releasing phones for the year—with the Phone 3 confirmed for a 2025 launch—rumors of another device, the Phona 2a Plus, have started to surface now.

The speculation ignited after Nothing posted an image of the Pokemon Mega Aerodactyl on social media, followed by a standalone “+” sign. 

For those unfamiliar, the company uses Pokemon creatures as codenames for its devices, and the Phone 2a was internally referred to as Aerodactyl. So the mention of Mega Aerodactly followed by a plus sign naturally leads us to believe an upcoming “Plus” model within the A-series lineup, if not specifically a Phone 2a Plus.

Adding weight to the rumors, Indian telco operator Jio has listed a device named Nothing Phone 2a Plus in its database. While this doesn’t confirm the existence of the device, it certainly suggests that something is in the works.

Details about the Nothing Phone 2a Plus are scarce at the moment. It’s unclear how the Plus model will differentiate itself from the standard Phone 2a. 

The latter already offers a solid mid-range package with a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, and a capable dual camera system.

If the Plus variant sees the light of the day, it might feature improvements in the camera system, processor, or battery life. However, until Nothing provides official confirmation or more concrete leaks emerge, these details remain speculative.

For now, it’s advisable to approach these rumors with caution. While the evidence does point towards a possible Nothing Phone 2a Plus, there’s still a chance that the company might have other plans.

The Nothing Phone 2a follows a similar approach but with a tougher Gorilla Glass 5 front and plastic back and frame. Both offer an IP54 rating for basic dust and water resistance. The Nothing Phone 2a differentiates itself with a unique transparent back design incorporating three LED notification lights.

Both offer a 3.5mm headphone jack, a rarity in today’s market, but only the Nothing Phone 2a features NFC for contactless payments.

Performance and Software

The biggest concern for the Nord CE 4 Lite is the recycled heart of the phone – the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695. This processor has been powering OnePlus budget phones since the Nord CE 2 Lite in 2022. While it can handle everyday tasks, it’s starting to show its age. Gamers and those who crave a super snappy experience will likely find it sluggish. 

Nothing Phone (2a), on the other hand, has a newer MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro that offers better performance for both everyday use and gaming. Both phones come with 8GB of RAM and offer 128GB or 256GB of storage.

Software-wise, both phones run the latest Android 14 operating system. However, the experience differs. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G utilizes OxygenOS 14, a familiar interface known for its clean and customizable approach. The Nothing Phone 2a features Nothing OS 2.5.5, a lighter skin that prioritizes a near-stock Android experience. Ultimately, the choice depends on whether you prefer a more minimalist or feature-rich interface.

Camera Systems

Both phones equip a dual rear camera system. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 Lite 5G opts for a 50MP main sensor with OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) alongside a 2MP depth sensor for portrait mode. This is a well-known issue on smartphones that use an OLED display. We have previously documented many cases of Samsung, Motorola, and OnePlus smartphones struggling with this issue. An X (Twitter) user has posted a couple of pictures as well as a video of a Phone (2a) with a vertical green line on the right side of the display. The image also reveals that the device has the latest Nothing OS 2.5.5.a update, which was announced around 19 days ago. This appears to be the first reported case of a green line appearing on the Phone (2a).

The Twitter user hasn’t specified the origin or timing of this problem. It’s important to highlight that most instances of the green line issue on OnePlus and Samsung devices have occurred post software updates. Although brands haven’t openly addressed the cause of this post-update problem, upon investigation, it appears that software updates altering display parameters, particularly voltage settings, may lead to an electrical fault in the display, manifesting as the green line of dead pixels.

That being said, there are also other reasons for green lines to appear on smartphone displays, including physical damage due to dropping, bending, or applying too much pressure on the display and the display connector or the flex cable connecting to the motherboard being damaged or defective.

Coming back to the Nothing Phone (2a), we weren’t able to find any other reports of the green line issue on X (formerly Twitter), or on the Nothing Community forums, so it appears to be an isolated issue for now. Stay tuned for more updates on the matter.

Gen 1 repairability means that users can get extra parts from sites like iFixit and fix their own devices, such as by replacing the screen or battery.

The curved screen of this device also improved its looks as they stands out from the flat screen on the Nothing Phone 2a. There are three camera lenses on the rear circular cutout of this device, and a gold stripe runs through the middle of the device circling the camera cutout. The power button and volume rocker keys sit on the right-hand side, as for the charging port, speakers, SIM tray, and microphone, they sit under the Realme 12 Pro. A few days back, Motorola unveiled the Edge 50 Fusion. This smartphone was announced alongside the Edge 50 Pro and the Edge 50 Ultra.

It is the most affordable of all three phones. It also comes in two variants for different markets.

One of these versions is exclusive to Latin America. This model has a downgraded chipset but a faster display.

That being said, the Edge 50 Fusion is expected to be released soon in India. Since the Edge 50 Pro is already available in the country with a starting price of ₹31,999, we can guess the price of the former.

The Edge 50 Fusion will likely cost around ₹25,000 in India. At this price, it will compete with several popular devices. Let’s have a look at some of its potential alternatives.

OnePlus Nord CE 4

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is probably the well-balanced smartphone in this price segment just like its predecessor OnePlus Nord CE 3. It starts at ₹24,999 in the country.

At this price, it offers a more powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip compared to a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 inside the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion. However, the Nord sports a flat 120Hz OLED display compared to a curved 144Hz OLED panel on the Fusion.

Further, the Nord CE 4 comes with a larger 5,5000mAh battery and also supports faster 100W wired charging.

Nothing Phone 2a

Nothing Phone 2a is the most unique-looking smartphone in its segment. It starts at ₹23,999 in India.

It is powered by a MediaTke Dimensity 7200 Pro chip, which is again more powerful than the silicon present underneath the Edge 50 Fusion. It has also got Glyph LED lights for personalized customizations.

The Phone 2a may have a flat OLED display but it sports a higher megapixel 50MP ultrawide camera. Finally, the battery is the same at 5,000mAh capacity but it only supports 45W wired charging, and the power adapter is not included in the box.

Redmi Note 13 Pro

The Redmi Note 13 Pro starts at ₹24,999 in India. It is powered by the same Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset as the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.

The Redmi Phone also arrives with a higher 200MP primary camera and a larger 5,100mAh battery.  But the charging speed is comparable at 67W.

Lastly, the 120Hz OLED display may be flat but it can play Dolby Vision content. Also, the panel is sharper as it has a 1.5K resolution (2712 x 1220 pixels).

Realme 12 Pro

The Realme 12 Pro also starts at ₹24,999 in India. It is the only competitor that also has a curved display and a vegan leather back.

However, the handset houses a less powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip. Anyhoo, the battery capacity and charging speed are nearly identical at 5,000mAh and 67W, respectively.

Most importantly, the Realme 12 Pro is the only device on the list with a proper three lens camera system. It arrives with a 50MP primary sensor, a 32MP 2x telephoto shooter, and an 8MP ultrawide unit.

Samsung Galaxy M55

The Galaxy M55 is the best option for someone looking for a Samsung alternative in this segment. It starts at ₹26,999 in India.

The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset. This makes it slower than the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion.

However, Samsung will offer longer software support than any other handset on this list. It will receive four Android updates and five years of security updates.

At last,  the smartphone supports 45W wired charging but the power adapter needs to be purchased separately.

The Nothing Phone (2a) was launched in March 2024 and has received multiple updates since then, improving its performance and user experience. The company has now started rolling out the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update for the Phone (2a), improving the camera system, while fixing some bugs and more.

The Nothing OS 2.5.5 update is 91MB in size and brings the April 2024 security patch. You can check out the complete changelog below.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 went official recently. The device succeeds the OnePlus Nord CE 3, which we considered the mid-ranger for the masses at its launch.

One of its competitors in India is Nothing Phone 2a. Both these handsets cost about the same. There’s a 1,000 price difference between the two.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 starts at ₹24,999 as opposed to the ₹23,999 starting price of Nothing Phone 2a.

So which one should you go for? We try to answer this question.

How do OnePlus Nord CE 4 and Nothing Phone 2a fare against each other?

One of them is flashy

Nothing is a design-focused brand, and therefore, its products stand out from the crowd with unique looks. The Nothing Phone 2a is a non-conventional-looking smartphone in its price range.

It has a transparent back panel like previous handsets from the brand. However, the material used is plastic rather than glass.

The two cameras sit horizontally at the center as a set of eyes. They give character to the device along with the ‘Glyph’ LED lights.

On the other hand, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 looks normal like other phones in the segment. The design, however,  is different from its predecessor as the camera modules are now smaller.

Not many would prefer the design of Nothing Phone 2a, given how non-conventional it looks. But that’s the key selling point of the product.

Performance is about the same

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset. Whereas the Nothing Phone 2a houses a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro SoC.

The Qualcomm chip underneath the OnePlus handset is theoretically better than the MediaTek chip inside the Nothing device in terms of synthetic benchmarks. But the difference is not that huge.

Hence, both of them should perform about the same in day-to-day usage. They are fast enough to last throughout their lifecycle.

Different approaches to software

Apart from design, it is software that sets apart these two smartphones. The OnePlus Nord CE 4 boots OxygenOS 14 compared to Nothing OS 2.5 on the Nothing Phone 2a.

The software on the OnePlus is tried and tested OxygenOS, which is now basically a fork of ColorOS like Realme UI. For the unaware, OnePlus and Realme are part of Oppo.

Thus, the overall software experience will be familiar to anyone who is coming from OnePlus, Oppo, or even Realme handset.

While the Nothing OS is close to stock Android with the brand’s dot matrix design elements all over the UI. It is designed meticulously to match the hardware, which enthusiasts would appreciate.

Additionally, Nothing promises 3 Android updates compared to just 2 by OnePlus. The duo currently boots Android 14 but only the Nothing Phone 2a will get Android 17.

Distinct Cameras and Battery

The smartphones arrive with different cameras. The same can be also said for their batteries and charging speed.

The OnePlus Nord CE 4 comes with a new 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 16MP selfie camera. Whereas, the Nothing Phone 2a features a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL GN9 primary sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultrawide unit, and a 32MP front-facing shooter.

The main cameras on both devices use OIS and can record videos in up to 4K 30fps resolution. However, the image processing is different between the two.

Further, the OnePlus Nord CE 4 houses a 5,500mAh battery and supports 100W wired charging. The required power adapter is included in the box.

While the Nothing Phone 2a is not only backed by a smaller 5,000mAh but is also limited to 45W wired charging. The power adapter needs to be bought separately as well.

Conclusion

The Nothing Phone 2a is for those who want a non-conventional smartphone offering a unique software experience. If you put on a case, the device looks just like any other handset. Thus, it is recommendable for regular consumers as well.

According to a post on X/Twitter, Nothing has started rolling out the Nothing OS 2.5.3 update for the Phone (2a). The update brings several improvements to the camera and phone’s overall performance and also adds new widgets.

The Nothing OS 2.5.3 for Phone (2a) adds support for Ultra XDR on the camera. It also brings improvements to the camera app’s performance, HDR processing, and color saturation. Additionally, there are also improvements in image clarity for the front-facing camera.

Users can also expect refinements to the UI elements across the system and the changelog also mentions enhanced background app performance. 

Furthermore, the Nothing OS 2.5.3 for Phone (2a) brings a new Recorder widget that allows discreet call recording, along with widgets for the camera and battery.

The Nothing (2a) is scheduled to launch on March 5 (Tuesday). The event for the handset will start at 5 PM IST.

The smartphone will retain the transparent design and Glyph lights from prior models. It will arrive with a 6.7-inch FHD+ 120Hz OLED display, a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chip, a 50MP primary camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

The product will be priced below ₹30,000 in India.

Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus

The Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus are planned to launch in India on March 6. They will be announced at 12 PM IST.

The Plus model is already official in other markets. It comes with a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek Dimesnity 7050 SoC, a 50MP main camera, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 67W charging support.

On the other hand, the Realme 12 is expected to arrive with a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chip, a 6.72-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD), and a 5,000mAh battery.

Vivo V30 Series

The Vivo V30 series is set to launch in India on March 7 (Thursday). It will be unveiled at 12PM IST.

The company will debut two devices in the country, namely Vivov V30 and Vivo V30 Pro. Both of them just recently went official in Indonesia.

The duo comes with the same design, a 6.78-inch 120Hz curved AMOLED display, a 5,000mAh battery, and 80W charging support. The vanilla model is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip, while the pro version houses a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SoC.

Additionally, the V30 Pro arrives with Zeiss optics consisting of triple 50MP sensors paired with wide, ultrawide, and 2x telephoto lenses.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra

The device is said to arrive with a quad 50MP camera system. The primary camera will be a Sony LYT-900 with variable aperture. It will be paired with an ultrawide unit, a telephoto shooter, and a periscope telephoto snapper.

The phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and draw energy from a 5,180mah battery. It will support 90W wired and 50W wireless charging standards.

It is anticipated to carry a higher price tag due to a rise in BOM (Bill of Materials).

Huawei Pocket S2

The Huawei Pocket S2 is rumored to launch on February 27. It could get announced at MWC.

The device is said to be powered by an underclocked version of the HiSilicon Kirin 9000s chip. Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on this handset.

The Pocket S2 will succeed the original Pocket S from late 2022, which was introduced as the company’s most affordable foldable smartphone at the time.

Oppo F25  and Reno 11F

The Oppo F25 is tipped to launch in India in February. The device will also go by Oppo Reno 11F in Southeast Asia.

The handset will sport a 64MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide) + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup and a 32MP selfie camera. It will be IP65-rated for splash resistance.

Vivo V30 Series, V40 SE, and V40 Lite

The Vivo V30 series is officially set to launch in February. The lineup is expected to include two devices, namely Vivo V30 and Vivo V30 Pro. They are anticipated to be accompanied by Vivo V40 SE (aka Vivo V40 Lite).

The Vivo V30 is said to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chip. It will flaunt a curved OLED display and support 80W wired charging.

On the other hand, the Vivo V40 SE will succeed the Vivo V30 Lite. Its specs are not known, just like those of Vivo V30 Pro.

Realme 12 Series

The Realme 12 series will debut in China in February. Apart from Realme 12 Pro and Realme 12 Pro Plus, the region will also get the vanilla Realme 12 and Realme 12 Plus.

As for Realme 12 Plus, it will feature a similar design as the Pros but will arrive with downgraded specs. It is expected to come with an unnamed 2.6GHz chip, a 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultrawide)  + 2MP (macro) triple camera setup, a 16MP selfie camera, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, we have no info on the vanilla Realme 12.

iQOO Neo 9 Pro

The iQOO Neo 9 Pro is scheduled to launch in India on February 22. The pre-bookings for the phone start from February 8.

The handset will succeed the iQOO Neo 7 Pro. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and draw energy from a 5,160mAh battery with support for 120W wired charging.

The device will sport a 6.78-inch OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It will come with a 50MP Sony IMX920 primary sensor, an 8MP ultrawide unit, and a 16MP selfie camera.

It is expected to cost around ₹30,000.

Honor X9b

Honor X9b is set to launch in India on February 15. Since the handset is official in several markets, everything about it is already known.

The phone arrives with a 6.78-inch FHD+ 120Hz curved display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chip, a 108MP primary camera, and a 16MP selfie camera. It is backed by a 5,800mAh battery and supports 35W wired charging.

The product is expected to compete with the Redmi Note 13 series and Realme 12 Pro lineup in the region.

Nothing Phone 2a

The Nothing Phone 2a is anticipated to go official at MWC. It will be the brand’s first budget smartphone.

The handset is tipped to come with a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display and a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC. It will feature a circular camera module headed by a 50MP primary sensor surrounded by Glyph LED lights.

The product will support 45W wired charging and is expected to cost under €400.

HMD Smartphone

Recently, HMD (Human Mobile Devices) confirmed to introduce its self-branded phones. At least one of them is expected to go official at MWC.

This device is tipped to sport a 108MP primary camera. Nothing else is known about this product.

Tecno Pova 6 Series

The Tecno Pova 6 series is confirmed to go official at MWC. The handsets will support Dolby Atmos.

The Pova 6 Pro is expected to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 chip. It will sport an FHD+ display and boot Android 14.

Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have on the lineup.

Infinix Note 40 Series

The Infinix Note 40 series is anticipated to go official at MWC. The lineup is expected to include vanilla and pro models.

Interestingly, both of them will be powered by the same chipset — MediaTek Helio G99. They will sport a centered punch-hole FHD+ display on the front and a triple camera system on the rear.

The pro variant will support 70W wired charging while the standard variant will be limited to 40W. However, both of them will support 5W wireless charging.

Itel Power Series

Itel is tipped to launch three Power series smartphones in India in February.

The first one is said to ship with Android Go Edition. The second model will support fast charging. Finally, the third handset will arrive with an exclusive India-first memory feature.

Nothing has recently confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2a is coming soon and it is a cheaper version of the Phone 2. However, the launch date is not known even though there has been a lot of leaks surrounding the model. Popular tipster Steve Hemmerstofer also has now posted wallpapers seemingly coming from the Nothing Phone 2a, an indication that the launch is close by.

The images and the full gallery of the wallpapers were also released by the tipster. The latest leak is yet another of the numerous leaks and speculations surrounding the Nothing Phone 2a. It is rumored to be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset with 8GB/128GB or 12GB/256GB configurations. It could also come with a 120Hz OLED screen and a dual main camera setup including a 50MP sensor.

A community update post by Nothing on X confirmed that the Nothing 2a smartphone is coming. Nothing was also stated in the X video posting that the Aerodactyl name that had been mentioned previously on its social media platforms was the code name of the new smartphone. Nothing says that the motivation behind the development of the Phone 2a was that some community users desired the latest and greatest tech while others were interested in core features while still retaining Nothing’s trademark features. The Nothing 2a therefore satisfies the yearnings of a segment of the Nothing community.

Nothing co-founder Akis Evangelidis says that with the Phone 2a, the company has doubled down on the core user needs – performance, camera, and such. It also leverages the premium features of the Nothing Phone 2 while ensuring it is an upgrade of the Phone 1. There is no launch date yet for the Nothing Phone 2a. It is however speculated that the Phone 2a could be unveiled during this month’s Mobile World Congress (MWC).

There are also hints that Nothing is also planninng to unveil two new wearables – a pair of earbuds and a neckband.

Nothing Phone 3 & Phone 2a Launch Timeline

The news arrives from tipster @saaaanjjjuuu who shared the information on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, he revealed that the Phone 2a will be launching in the first quarter of this year. In other words, we can expect an announcement between January and March 2024. The tipster also added that the premium Nothing Phone 3 will be released in July 2024.

However, this is not all as the company is also working on a hearable product as well. He claims that the brand is also working on truly wireless earbuds that are dubbed the CMF Nothing Buds 2 Pro. The official name of these earbuds is still unclear, although, the TWS could be the direct successor to the CMF’s Buds Pro. So it could be a part of the CMF By Nothing branding as the Buds 2 Pro.

Based on the recent Phone 2a rumors, the device could sport a tall 6.7-inch AMOLED display that features a 120Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. Meanwhile, the rear packs a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KGN9 shooter with a 1/1.5 inch sensor size and 1.0 micron pixel size. This is paired with a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KJN1 ultra wide angle lens with a 1/2.76 inch sensor size and 0.64 micron pixel size. For selfies and video calls, the front houses a 32-megapixel Sony IMX615 camera.

It appears that the brand has officially started teasing its arrival, as Nothing CEO Carl Pei has confirmed the arrival of a new smartphone. Hence, it appears that it will not take too long for the Nothing Phone (2a) to break cover.

There is a lot of speculation that Nothing Phone (2a) may make its debut at the upcoming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2024 technology exhibition, which will be held by the end of February. Now that Carl Pei has released the first teaser for the alleged device, it seems likely that the company will release additional teasers in the days leading up to the anticipated February launch.

Rumors are rife that Nothing’s next smartphone, the Phone (2a), will be announced at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024, which will take place on Feb. 27 in Barcelona, Spain. Well before the launch, Smartprix published a report to leak the display and camera specifications of the Phone (2a), along with its wallpapers. Here are all the new details about the device.

Nothing Phone (2a) display, camera specifications (rumored)

The publication has teamed up with tipster Kamila to reveal that the Nothing Phone (2a) will arrive with a 6.7-inch display on the front. It appears to be an OLED panel supplied by China’s Visionox and BOE that offers an FHD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate.

The leak further states that the Nothing Phone (2a) will arrive with a 50-megapixel Samsung S5KGN9 primary camera, also available on the Moto G84 5G. A Samsung S5KJN1 ultra-wide lens will accompany it. The device will be equipped with a Sony IMX615 32-megapixel primary camera for selfies. As per other reports, the dual-camera system will be arranged horizontally in a round camera module.

Shown above are the leaked wallpapers of the Nothing Phone (2a) dubbed ‘Ruxe’, ‘Nexul’, ‘Azunim White’, ‘Orbique’, ‘Rubrane Black’, ‘Ambra’, and ‘Virmar.’ The report also states that there will be four SKUs of the device, such as PacmanIND (India), PacmanJPN (Japan), PacmanEEA (Europe), and Pacman (global). The device will come in black and white color options.

Rumors have been swirling about a budget-friendly Nothing Phone (2a), and now a new leak gives us a glimpse of what it might look like. A video sketch shared by Android developer Dylan Roussel on Twitter/X shows a possible camera arrangement that’s quite different from the original Nothing Phone.

The sketch shows the Phone (2a) has a centered, horizontal camera module on the back, seemingly housing two lenses. This breaks away from Nothing’s previous phone designs. 

Adding credibility to the leak, another Twitter source, who first revealed the Phone (2a)’s existence, shared a prototype image showcasing the dual-camera setup alongside an LED light. This design choice clearly differentiates the Phone (2a) as a more affordable option in Nothing’s lineup, which may be important for some. 

The camera is surrounded by three Glyph LED light strips, way smaller than what we have seen on the Phone (1) and Phone (2). Nonetheless, the LED light still seems to have support for app notifications and integrations, similar to the Phone (2).

Under the hood, the Phone (2a) is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 SoC, an octa-core chip announced earlier this year.  It features two Cortex-A715 cores with a high frequency of 2.8GHz and six Cortex-A510 cores. There’s also a Mali G610 MC4 GPU for handling visuals on the device.

The leak also refers to the Phone (2a) by the codename “Pacman,” which fits with Nothing’s tradition of using classic video game names for their phones (Phone (1) was “Spacewar” and Phone (2) was “Pong”).

As for when we can expect to see the Nothing Phone (2a) in stores, it looks like we might have to wait until the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February. Nothing has confirmed an event in Barcelona on February 27th with the tagline “Nothing to see.” This could be a hint at the Phone (2a)’s launch.

Nothing is reportedly working on a new smartphone model, which could be a mid range handset. This device is rumored to be called the Nothing Phone 2a. The latest leak hints at its design elements, so here are all the details.

Nothing Phone 2a may feature a refreshed design

Known tipster Yogesh Brar claims to have seen a working prototype of the Nothing Phone 2a. He stated that the brand is making some interesting design choices with the upcoming handset. The front will retain the center aligned punch hole cutout, while the rear will apparently see more obvious changes. The back still features a dual camera setup, but the layout has now moved to a horizontal alignment that is situated in the center and not the left side.

To recall, the company faced some criticism for its Phone 2 being too similar to the Phone 1. But with the Phone 2a, the design is seeing a slight refresh. Although, the tipster adds that the upcoming smartphone will still borrow elements from the Nothing Phone 1 and Phone 2. Interestingly, one of our earlier reports also shared an image on the back panel of the Phone 2a. But this image shows the device with a vertically stacked dual camera setup, which is similar to Nothing’s previous phones.

This report also confirmed that the Phone 2a will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display and carry the AIN142 model number. Its LED Glyph Interface lighting can also be seen on the rear. Lastly, the Nothing Phone 2a was also recently spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) carrying the AIN142 model number. This confirms that the smartphone will be launching in the Indian market. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now.

So far, the firm has released only two handsets, namely Nothing Phone 1 and Nothing Phone 2. According to a leak, the brand may launch its third smartphone soon, however, it might not be the successor of its last phone.

As per X user @saaaanjjjuuu, Nothing is working on a handset with model number AIN142. This device is said to be released under the name of Nothing Phone 2a.

He has also shared some of the features of the product. The device will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display.

The screen will have a centered punch-hole for the selfie camera. Lastly, the rear image of the smartphone suggests that it will also come with the ‘Glyph Interface’ LED lights.

Unfortunately, the source of this leak does not have a track record of reliable leaks. Thus, we advise readers to consider this piece of information with a pinch of salt.

Nothing is tipped to launch its third-gen earbuds dubbed Nothing Ear (3) in January. So far, there has not been any other leak apart from this one regarding a new handset.

If Nothing is indeed planning to release such a smartphone, we can expect it to be a mid-ranger like the original Nothing Phone (1). It could be positioned below the Nothing Phone (2) as an affordable entry into the Nothing ecosystem.
