Nothing Phone (1) official launch date may be announced this week

Over the last couple of days, we have covered multiple rumors and reports regarding the upcoming Nothing Phone (1), which is the company’s first smartphone. While the official launch date was never revealed, a new teaser from the brand has hinted at the date of release for the highly anticipated handset.

The company’s official Twitter shared a tweet in which it said just “This week.” This basically hints that Nothing will be announcing the launch date for the Phone (1) later this week. It is also entirely possible that the company meant an official launch later this week as well, but based on the brand’s tendency to create hype. The new tweet might just be another way of building anticipation.

The brand might also reveal some key details or the tease the full design of the phone as well. Based on previous reports the Phone (1) will be launching around the second half of next month, possibly around 21st July 2022. But it remains to be seen if that really is the case. The rumors so far has revealed that the brand’s first phone will pack a Qualcomm chip, which might be the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC.

Over the last couple of days, Nothing has been in the headlines often for its upcoming smartphone. While we’ve covered various rumors and reports regarding the device, it seems the latest information has possibly revealed its launch date.

The news regarding the Nothing Phone (1) launch arrives from none other than Carl Pei himself, the founder of the company. As of right now, the brand has yet to reveal any finer details regarding the smartphone or its launch. However, the senior executive of the firm has possibly confirmed the Phone (1)’s launch date. A Twitter user had asked Pei regarding the launch date for the company’s first handset. In response to this, Carl responded with a cryptic text of “6/9 at 4:20.”

At the moment, it is unclear what these figures stands for, but its believed to be the launch date for the handset. Going by the US date format, the smartphone may launch on 9th June 2022. In other words, it could be a summer launch event. Carl Pei has been known to create hype for upcoming products, so we can expect a similar treatment for the Nothing Phone (1).

Talking about the smartphone itself, the Phone (1) is believed to run on Android 12 OS based Nothing OS launcher. Furthermore, the device may sport a 6.43 inch AMOLED display that has a Full HD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the handset is rumored to be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC, which could be paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device will reportedly also feature a 50 megapixel triple camera setup and a large 4,500mAh battery pack as well.

Nothing to allegedly launch own phone in early 2022, power (1) power bank in the works too

Nothing is allegedly working on its own phone now following the success of its ear (1) earbuds and is planning on releasing it as early as 2022. A power bank that will go by the name of ‘power (1)’ is also in the works, as per a report.

The startup recently partnered with Qualcomm Technologies and if the news of an upcoming smartphone is indeed true, then it is likely that Qualcomm is lending a helping hand in the matter. The phone will thus likely sport a Snapdragon processor.

The report by Mukul Sharma (via: 91Mobiles) further reveals that a Nothing-branded power bank may launch before the phone. The power (1) power bank could debut in the coming weeks or maybe at the end of the year.

Details are slim regarding either of the two products, so any known specifications and the like are out of the question for now. Regardless, Nothing’s upcoming products should pick design cues from the existing ear (1) and may hence sport similar simple and minimalistic looks, transparent design even.

Back in February, Nothing had acquired Andy Rubin’s Essential company – the folks behind the Essential Phone that debuted back in 2017. The Nothing phone along with sporting a Snapdragon processor, may thus, also benefit from a technological transfer from Essential. After all, both companies share an interest in offering products with minimal designs and no-frills experiences.

As for the name of the smartphone, well, we are hoping that it will be called the Nothing hand (1), although that admittedly does sound a bit too cheesy and Nothing may just call it the phone (1).
