<p>This is the Nothing Phone 2a. If there is a world&#8217;s most beautiful cell phone tournament, it has the chance to win. And this is Nothing Phone&#8217;s former brother, OnePlus&#8217; new Ace 3V. Coincidentally, we both got them for $330. And this Nothing Phone (2a) has been getting a lot of positive reviews lately, so I guess you&#8217;re also wondering, is this phone really as unbeatable as they say it is? The OnePlus Ace 3V should be taking on the challenge.</p>

<h3><strong>Unbox experience</strong></h3>

<p>The Nothing Phone really does a good job in the unboxing experience. With the eco-friendly material, customized charging cables, and card pins, there should be no one else in the same price range that can do better than this phone.</p>

<p>In comparison, the Ace 3V is rather ordinary and nothing special. However, the Nothing Phone (2a) doesn&#8217;t come with a free charger, while the Ace 3V gets one away, and it&#8217;s a 100W. Which one has a better unboxing experience varies from person to person, but I&#8217;m definitely the one who prefers having a charger included.</p>

<h3><strong>Design &amp; Display</strong></h3>

<p>When I put the two phones side by side, they don&#8217;t seem to be in the same price range. Of course, the Nothing Phone&#8217;s strong point is the unique look. A lot of Youtubers have already explained in great detail about its design and how cool the LED lights on the back. I won&#8217;t repeat it. They didn&#8217;t lie, it&#8217;s indeed a flagship phone design caliber.</p>

<p>Look at the Ace 3V next to it, that&#8217;s the average level of most $300 phones. With that really hilarious flash, I&#8217;m sure anyone would have no hesitation in picking up the Nothing Phone (2a).</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846.jpg?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-616145" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174803.846-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The front of the 2a is also as good as ever. If I am not wrong, it was the first phone under $400 with equal-width bezels on all four sides. Even the Ace 3V has thin bezels, but the overall look is still far behind the 2a. The bad news is that the specs aren&#8217;t as good as they look on the outside. It&#8217;s not bad, it&#8217;s just not that good. the Ace 3V is a little bit better in terms of screen quality, but the difference is barely noticeable. Personally, I&#8217;m willing to give the 2a a thumbs up.</p>

<h3><strong>Benchmark &amp; Gaming</strong></h3>

<p>Well, the next part is a bit cruel for Nothing Phone (2a). Because Qualcomm recently released the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3, the Dimensity 7200 Pro from Nothing Phone (2a) looks &#8230;&#8230; too weak. As for the appearance, it&#8217;s hard to believe that these two phones are in the same price range.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227.jpg?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-616147" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174813.227-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>While playing big games, I could feel the 2a begging me: Please, stop torturing me. Meanwhile, the Ace 3V is challenging those flagship phones. Even if the temperature gets higher, its gaming experience has touched that line of flagship phones. To take care of Nothing Phone (2a)&#8217;s little heart, let&#8217;s play some games where the load isn&#8217;t as heavy.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238.jpg?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-616148" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174814.238-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>PUBG Mobile is a game that runs smoothly on any phone. Although Nothing Phone (2a) can only have extreme frame rates at smooth graphics, at least it&#8217;s finally smooth to play. I must say, the 7+ Gen 3 is a great processor. Even if the smoothness is all about the same, the power consumption can be lower. If you are a big gamer or want your phone to last longer, the OnePlus Ace 3V is definitely the better choice.</p>

<h3><strong>Camera</strong></h3>

<p>Both phones have a camera system that uses a combination of a main camera plus an ultra-wide camera. There is no telephoto camera and no macro camera. Let&#8217;s talk about the ultra-wide camera first. the Nothing Phone uses a larger 50 MP sensor, and the Ace 3V still has that 8 MP one. So whether it&#8217;s day or night, the clarity is definitely better on the 2a.</p>

<p>Sadly though, just when I thought the Nothing Phone was going to win, it surprised me. Take a look at this photo, check the corners, then check the center. Em&#8230;&#8230; this chromatic aberration problem is much worse than I thought. The edges are all red. It&#8217;s even more noticeable in this photo, you can see the leaves with some ringing artifacts.</p>

<p>Let me show you something a little funnier. In the video recording, the sky in 2a’s footage looks like it&#8217;s burning. By the way, this is a video recorded by the main camera, which means that the main camera also has this problem.</p>

<p>So as long as you don&#8217;t shoot at the sky and leaves, most of the photos from the main camera don&#8217;t have this issue, and every photo is vibrant and bright. But the color fringing issue is so overwhelming that I&#8217;d be hard-pressed to say the Nothing Phone (2a) has a great camera.</p>

</figure>

<p>The Ace 3V is as stable as ever, without too many highlights and no unacceptable drawbacks to be found. Other than the ultra-wide camera being a little less sharp, it&#8217;s not much different than the 2a. I&#8217;ll vote for the Ace 3V in the camera session, just because I don&#8217;t want to screw up when I need to capture the great moments.</p>

<h3><strong>Charging &amp; Battery</strong></h3>

<p>The 100W of wired charging wins the race for the Ace 3V, no doubt about it. But there is one thing, the Nothing Phone (2a) doesn&#8217;t need a special charger. A random PD charger can charge it at full power, which the Ace 3V can&#8217;t do.</p>

<p>But the Ace 3V has a 5,500mAh battery, which is also something the 2a can&#8217;t do.</p>

</figure>

<p>In addition to the regular battery life test, we also found Nothing Phone&#8217;s standby power consumption to be particularly high in use. With AOD turned on and the background cleared, 1 hour of standby consumed 4% of the power, which is the same amount of power that other phones consume in a night of standby. This is the most unacceptable thing about this phone.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069.jpg?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1920" height="1080" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-616167" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Nothing-Phone-2a-VS-OnePlus-Ace-3V_1.mp4_20240404_174910.069-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>So for the charging and battery session, I would give the score to the OnePlus Ace 3V.</p>

<h3><strong>Conclusion</strong></h3>

<p>After a series of comparisons, the Nothing Phone (2a) does perform well in some areas, such as the beautiful design and screen. The weak point is that the processor is outdated, which makes you worry about lagging after a few years of use. The camera and battery life also need to be improved. The OnePlus Ace 3V is really impressive with its high performance and big battery. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s a little bit uglier, making it look inferior to the 2a. There&#8217;s also no global version at the moment, so you can&#8217;t buy it anywhere except China.</p>

<div class="su-box su-box-style-default" id="" style="border-color:#187ca8;border-radius:2px"><div class="su-box-title" style="background-color:#4bafdb;color:#FFFFFF;border-top-left-radius:0px;border-top-right-radius:0px">WHERE TO BUY</div><div class="su-box-content su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="border-bottom-left-radius:0px;border-bottom-right-radius:0px">Buy OnePlus Ace 3V on <a href="https://www.geekwills.com/oneplus-ace-3v.html">Geekwills</a> from $389</div></div>

<p>Which one is better, I&#8217;ll leave the answer to you. But I&#8217;m sure that Nothing Phone (2a) is not as good as &#8220;they&#8221; say it is. </p>

<p>At least it won&#8217;t be the best mid-range phone of 2024, because there are still 8 months left for the big brands to create their best mid-range phones.</p>

<h3><b>Design</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Personally, we feel the OnePlus 10R features a lackluster design, even with the additional elements on its back. On the other hand, the Nothing Phone (1) is arguably one of the best-looking smartphones in this segment. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">So is there any room for the OnePlus model to shine in this department? Well, design is often a matter of perspective, and some would like the toned-down profile of the OnePlus 10R. But for most, the Nothing Phone (1) would be an obvious choice in terms of sheer design. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">One of the biggest highlights of the Nothing model is the transparent back cover with a matrix of LEDs which the company calls the glyph interface. The white color model, which by the way is in great demand (and out of stock), offers a view of the internals like the wireless charging coils and the LED lights. Note that these LEDs are more than a neat party trick. The company has added a customized LED light-up sequence based on your ringtone and it can even show your phone’s charging progress.  </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Now coming to the OnePlus 10R, this model takes a very different approach with a boxy design with dual tone finish. To give the brand some credit, the two-tone finish and the camera design make it unique in its lineup. However, personally, we are not a fan of this boxy finish and we’ll leave it up to you to decide which one has a better design. There are two color options for the OnePlus 10R, </span><span style="font-weight: 400;">Sierra Black and Forest Green. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Another drawback for the <strong><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-10r/">OnePlus 10R</a></strong> is the lack of any IP rating. What’s even more surprising is that this model also lacks the iconic alert slider found on all OnePlus flagships. In fact, even the cheaper OnePlus Nord 2T comes <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/07/13/oneplus-nord-2t-review-good-phone-bad-software/">with the slider button on the side</a>, so its really a shame that OnePlus decided to ditch it on the 10R.  In comparison, the Nothing model features an IP53 rating and smartly utilizes the glyph interface for notifications. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Display</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nothing-phone-1/"><strong> Nothing Phone (1)</strong></a> comes with a 6.55-inch OLED panel with FHD+ resolution. To compare, the OnePlus 10R features a much larger 6.7-inch panel. Both have HDR10+ support with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and come with 120Hz refresh rate. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">The OnePlus 10R comes with an excellent screen that gives the Nothing Phone (1) solid competition. In fact, this might be one area where the phone could outdo the Nothing model, but honestly, the difference won’t likely be significant. After all, both have excellent screens. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
</span><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<h3><b>Specs &amp; Software</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nothing Phone (1) comes with a mid-range Snapdragon 778+ processor. On its own, the chip is sufficient for daily use with occasional gaming. But when you compare it with the processors inside its direct rivals, you get the feeling that the computing power falls short. For example, the OnePlus 10R comes with the MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX featuring “AI performance boost”. While the &#8220;AI boost&#8221; might not translate to any significant performance upgrades in comparison to the standard version, the processor on its own is pretty powerful and will easily outdo the Snapdragon 778+ on the Nothing Phone (1). Especially if you are a gamer and looking for a phone in this budget, the OnePlus 10R would be a better buy for you, with good thermal control. That said, if you are not into heavy gaming, both the phones are going to serve you well. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nothing Phone (1) comes with 8GB and 12GB RAM models with up to 256GB of storage. The same is the case with the OnePlus 10R too. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nothing Phone (1) features Nothing OS on top of Android 12. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10R features the OxygenOS 12.1 build. Both the phones have limited bloatware with a smooth UI. But like most OnePlus models, you might encounter minor bugs in between. We can’t say the Nothing Phone (1) is perfect either, especially since it&#8217;s a first-generation model. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;"> </span></p>
<h3><b>Camera</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nothing Phone (1) comes with a two-camera setup, featuring a 50MP OIS main camera and another 50MP ultra wide-angle shooter. The OnePlus 10R also starts off with a 50MP primary camera but comes with a lower resolution 8MP ultra-wide shooter and adds a 2MP macro camera. </span><span style="font-weight: 400;"><br />
</span><span style="font-weight: 400;">So far, we’ve seen that the Nothing Phone (1) can capture pretty good pictures with its primary and ultra-wide shooters, irrespective of the lighting conditions. The OnePlus 10R also features a pretty good primary shooter but might not be able to match Nothing Phone’s 50MP Ultra wide camera. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For taking care of selfies, the Nothing model features a 16MP shooter, while the OnePlus model features a 16MP camera. Both should do fine for occasional selfies. </span></p>

</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Battery</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Battery is one more area where the OnePlus 10R outshines the Nothing Phone (1) in terms of sheer charging power. The most expensive variant of the 10R has a 4,500mAh battery with a massive 150W charger. Even the cheaper models feature an 80W charger (with larger 5000mAh battery) which makes the 33W charger on the Nothing phone look super slow. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, the Nothing model compensates for this slow speed by adding support for 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging of 5W to its 4500mAh battery.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Wireless charging gives a huge edge to the Nothing model since its a rare feature in this segment. One might settle for a 33W charger in favor of an additional and more convenient charging method. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><b>Price</b></h3>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Nothing Phone (1) retails for  ₹</span><a href="http://fkrt.it/fSisNGuuuN"><span style="font-weight: 400;">32,999</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">/£399/</span><a href="https://amzn.to/3OkFiaj"><span style="font-weight: 400;">€469</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">. <p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you care more about performance, display, and charging and are a fan of the OnePlus lineup, the OnePlus 10R would be good bet. On the other hand, if you want something unique with a fancy design, good cameras, IP rating, and wireless charging, the Nothing Phone would be the one to choose between these two.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Note that the Nothing Phone (1) is a first-generation model. The phone is likely to come with a few bugs or </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/07/19/nothing-phone1-facing-hardware-level-issues/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">even hardware issues</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, so you need to consider these things when you make the purchase. Even if you are a Nothing phone fan, it’s probably a good idea to wait for a couple of weeks at least to see how the phone fares in real life. </span></p>

However, it has </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/04/28/nothing-launcher-beta-is-now-available-on-play-store/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">released</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> the beta version of the device’s official launcher dubbed Nothing Launcher on the Google Play Store for select smartphones. Amidst this, a shady eBook now details the specs of the handset.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-367967 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png?x44794" alt="Nothing fetaured" width="960" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-300x156.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-768x400.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-696x363.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-806x420.png 806w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Twitter user </span><a href="https://twitter.com/rsjadon01/status/1521683829542379520"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">@rsjadon01</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> has shared (via </span><a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/nothing-phone-specifications-leaked/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">MySmartPrice</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">) a few screenshots from an </span><a href="https://www.amazon.in/dp/B09XBY8PZN/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">eBook on Amazon</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> titled ‘NOTHING PHONE 1: User manual’. The unreliable book talks about the specifications of the smartphone with structural mistakes in sentences.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We believe the author (</span><a href="https://www.amazon.in/James-Omoghosa-Abu/e/B09RVH86TC"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">James Omoghosa Abu</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">) is making use of the popularity of the device to reel in readers. He has even published similar books for Samsung’s </span><a href="https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B09ZGRWNNG/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Galaxy A11</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B09X5RSJCV/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">the Galaxy Tab S8 series</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Anyway, according to the author, the upcoming Nothing Phone (1) will feature an AMOLED display with support for a high refresh rate, HDR10+ standard, and sRGB/DCI-P3 color gamuts. It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G SoC paired with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The handset will boot Android 12 and will be backed b a 4,500mAh battery. Last but not least, it will arrive with a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP triple rear camera system and a 32MP selfie camera.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">We know none of this is true since the information not only comes from an unreliable source but it also sounds unbelievable. With that being said, what are your expectations of Nothing Phone (1)? Do let us know in the comment section below.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">However, despite all the hype for the launcher, the product has only received sub-par reviews on Google Play Store. But the most concerning flaw of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/">Nothing</a> Launcher is that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/">Nothing</a> Launcher could hypothetically get you detained at airport security with its included ringtones, and here’s how.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-458025" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/airport-security.jpg?x44794" alt="airport-security" width="750" height="450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/airport-security.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/airport-security-300x180.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/airport-security-696x418.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/airport-security-700x420.jpg 700w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Upon downloading the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/">Nothing</a> Launcher, besides changing the icon packs and the home screen, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/">Nothing</a> Launcher also changes your wallpaper background, your alarms, ringtones, and notification sounds.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: left"><span style="font-weight: 400">Although the <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xfq754d6obaus6c/AABWUxFeUkV8UeqK-FlXdXCfa/Nothing%20Launcher%20(Beta)%20-%20Wallpapers?dl=0&amp;subfolder_nav_tracking=1">provided launcher wallpapers</a>(Hand.png and Face.png) look rather unsettling, they will not get you into much trouble in public spaces. The trouble lies within the ringtones and notifications sounds.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">If you would like to experience the ringtones and notification sound effects of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/nothing/">Nothing</a> Launcher yourself, we have prepared a Dropbox link below.</span></p>
<p><b>Dropbox link to Nothing Launcher Ringtone, Notification Sound Effect </b><a href="https://www.dropbox.com/sh/xfq754d6obaus6c/AAB-0-TES54bx5z90x2xaS6Ka/Nothing%20Launcher%20(Beta)%20-%20Ringtones?dl=0&amp;subfolder_nav_tracking=1"><b>HERE</b></a><b>.</b></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Let’s start with the Ringtone, named “Nothing_ing_1.ogg”. The ringtone is an 11-second audio clip that is to be played on loop when you receive an incoming call. If you have a more innocent mind, the audio clip would sound like a woodpecker pecking on a tree bark. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">However, the folks at airport security may not assume the same, as the ringtone playing at full volume resembles the soundwave frequencies of 4 muffled consecutive assault rifle gunshots that could lead security to assume there was a shooting happening, leading to panic at the airport when in reality, you were receiving an incoming call.</span></p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone size-full wp-image-458027" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg.png?x44794" alt="Nothing_Launcher_Guns (1).jpg" width="834" height="471" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg.png 834w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg-768x434.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg-696x393.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/05/Nothing_Launcher_Guns-1.jpg-744x420.png 744w" sizes="(max-width: 834px) 100vw, 834px" /></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The worst hypothetical case scenario was that security found that you were the culprit in charge of the mass panic, and you could get detained at the airport for pulling a prank of this scale that had misled the national security defence force into thinking there was a terrorist attack.</span></p>

With the launcher&#8217;s release, we get a taste of what we&#8217;d expect from the upcoming <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/nothing-phone-(1)">Nothing Phone (1)</a>.</p>
<p>Nothing Launcher is currently available on Play Store and you can <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/developer?id=NOTHING+TECHNOLOGY+LIMITED" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">install</a> it to experience the awaited dot-matrix User Interface. However, only select devices can install the launcher and use it. As of now,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-5/"> Google Pixel 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/google-pixel-6/">Pixel 6</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s21-5g/">Samsung Galaxy S21</a> series, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s22-ultra-5g/">Galaxy S22 </a>series models are supported. It appears that the brand is keeping up to its premium experience promise as all of these devices are flagships.</p>

</p>
<p>If you are a <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus">OnePlus</a> owner, do not worry, as the brand has also confirmed support for OnePlus models in the future. Also, some users tried Installing the launcher on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-10-pro/">OnePlus 10 Pro</a> and surprisingly it&#8217;s working.</p>
<p>The Nothing Launcher is currently in the beta stage and offers only the basic features. Right when you install and set it up, you&#8217;ll see the Nothing Wallpaper that we saw in the event last month.</p>
<p>In addition to this, the font gets changed to the dot matrix-style font. There are currently two widgets in the launcher that appear to be automatically set on the home screen. There&#8217;s the weather widget and the clock widget. The launcher also brings elegant-looking app folders.</p>
<p>Apart from this, there&#8217;s not much to look at in the launcher, at the moment. Since it is currently in the first beta stage, we expect more features to be added in the forthcoming beta versions.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">In the media interview, Zhao also provided a statistical breakdown of users that had switched over to Honor. However, those brands’ ambitions are always all talk, and no proper effort is shown that they can be a viable Apple alternative. </span></p>

This situation may lead to the user avoiding the brand in the future, and Zhao mentions that here at </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Honor</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, we aim to build brand loyalty, not demolish loyalty.</span></p>

And as you&#8217;d expect, we saw nothing as to an actual product. However, the company did give a glimpse of the Nothing Phone (1), Nothing OS, and its ecosystem.</p>
<p><strong>Nothing Phone (1), Nothing OS</strong></p>
<p>Nothing&#8217;s Founder Carl Pei revealed that the company will be announcing its first smartphone dubbed Nothing Phone (1) in Summer 2022. The smartphone will offer a clean user experience. The phone will boot on Android and have the Nothing OS on top of it.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-450741 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing Phone" width="1200" height="675" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-747x420.jpg 747w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>
<p>The Nothing OS will not only run on smartphones but will also work seamlessly with other ecosystem devices. The OS will bring new animations and won&#8217;t have any bloatware. As per the company, Nothing OS will have 40% fewer pre-installed apps.</p>
<p>It will have its own voice recorder, widgets, and smoother animations. The UI is expected to have a Black and White theme. Furthermore, the company will also launch its own launcher called Nothing OS launcher which will be launched in April for select Android smartphones.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-450740 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Nothing Phone (1)" width="3600" height="2025" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1.jpg 3600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Phone-1-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 3600px) 100vw, 3600px" /></p>
<p>Nothing also officially announced its partnership with <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>. The company is expected to bring its upcoming phones powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s Snapdragon SoCs. The company has confirmed that Phone (1) will get 3 years of OS updates and 4 years of security updates.</p>
<p><strong>Nothing Ecosystem and Community</strong></p>
<p>At the event, the company also announced the Nothing Ecosystem. As per the company, the Nothing Ecosystem will consist of products from Nothing as well as products of other brands. The company is expected to offer an ecosystem experience similar to Apple.</p>

So let&#8217;s take a look at what we know so far about the upcoming smartphone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-367967 aligncenter td-animation-stack-type0-2" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png?x44794" alt="Nothing fetaured" width="960" height="500" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog.png 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-300x156.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-768x400.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-696x363.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/Nothing_Blog-806x420.png 806w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></p>
<p>Surprisingly, the company has been able to keep the upcoming smartphone under lock and key leaking almost no information. However, Nothing teased a <a href="https://twitter.com/nothing/status/1498693737077166098" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">transparent frame</a> earlier this month which is most likely a hint towards the transparent back panel of the upcoming device.</p>
<p>As we know, the company&#8217;s debut product and their only one to date is the Nothing Ear (1) TWS earphones featuring a transparent design which made it an instant hit among the younger consumer base. The company&#8217;s first smartphone dubbed the Nothing Phone (1) is also expected to follow the same design philosophy giving it a transparent back panel which will likely show off some of the components inside the smartphone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-448073 td-animation-stack-type0-2" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing.png?x44794" alt="Nothing" width="2458" height="1198" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing.png 2458w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-300x146.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-768x374.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-1024x499.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-533x261.png 533w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-696x339.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-1068x521.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-862x420.png 862w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/nothing-1920x936.png 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 2458px) 100vw, 2458px" /></p>
<p>The Nothing Phone (1) is also teased to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, however, it is unclear if the chipset in the smartphone will be a mid-ranger like the Snapdragon 778G or something more flagship tier like the Snapdragon 888 or even the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. One thing is for certain the device will feature an Android-based operating system which was also teased by some cryptic tweet exchange that took place between Nothing&#8217;s CEO Carl Pie and Android&#8217;s official Twitter handle.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-447687 size-full td-animation-stack-type0-2" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak.jpeg?x44794" alt="Nothing Smartphone Leak" width="1600" height="1200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak.jpeg 1600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-300x225.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-768x576.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-80x60.jpeg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-265x198.jpeg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-696x522.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-1068x801.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Nothing-Smartphone-Leak-560x420.jpeg 560w" sizes="(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px" /></p>
<p>Other than that, Carl Pei was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/08/alleged-nothing-smartphone-leaks/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">spotted</a> with is believed to be a prototype model of the Nothing Phone (1). It isn’t very clear from the leaked image what the smartphone looks like but it reveals a black color for the back panel and a circular camera module with an LED flash.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-427477 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/nothing-ear-1-black-color.jpg?x44794" alt="nothing ear (1) black color" width="434" height="362" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/nothing-ear-1-black-color.jpg 434w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/nothing-ear-1-black-color-300x250.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 434px) 100vw, 434px" /></p>
<p>The smartphone is not the only new Nothing device that is expected to debut at &#8220;The Truth&#8221; launch event as rumors about the brand working on a total of five new products have been making the rounds online. These include a power bank which could be named Nothing Power (1) and the brand’s first as well as a new wireless earphone offering from the brand. The new wireless earphones can be the second generation Nothing Ear TWS earbuds.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400">With that out of the way, let’s take a look at these phones one by one.</span></p>
