On July 26, Huawei had launched the Nova 5i Pro smartphone in China. The handset that is powered by the new 7nm Kirin 810 chipset is an advanced version of the Huawei Nova 5i smartphone that was made official in June. Starting from today, the Nova 5i Pro is available for purchase with a starting price of 2,199 Yuan (~$318).

Huawei’s nova series is doing pretty well so far. The company unveiled a number of new models in the nova 5 lineup, including the new nova 5i pro that was launched alongside the Mate 20 X 5G smartphone a few days back. Now, Huawei has announced that the nova 5 sales have exceeded 2 million units in just a month.

At present, Nova 5 has four models. The first three models, Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro, and Nova 5i, were announced in the later half of June. They were joined by a new model, the Nova 5i Pro, a few days back. It’s not surprising to see these models do well in the Chinese market as the nova lineup has managed to carve out a special fan following among the youth.

Its predecessor, the Nova 3 series also sold more than 2 million units in a month of its launch. In fact, by the end of 2018, Huawei revealed that it had sold more than 65 million nova smartphones since 2016. In order to commemorate 2 million sales of the new nova 5 series, the company has announced a special ‘Coral orange’ Limited Gift Box set for Nova 5 Pro as well.

Note that nova 5 models are still limited to the Chinese market.

Huawei held an unveil event today in China to unleash the Nova 5i Pro smartphone and its Mate 20 X 5G as its first 5G smartphone. The Nova 5i Pro has been introduced as enhanced edition of the Kirin 710 powered Nova 5i smartphone that was unveiled in June. The Nova 5i Pro is fueled by the newly introduced 7nm Kirin 810 chipset. It borrows the punch-hole display from Nova 5i handset. Also, one highlight of the smartphone is that it possesses a quad camera.

Huawei Nova 5i Pro Specifications and Features

The Huawei Nova 5i Pro that comes with features glass panels on the front and rear with a metallic frame in between measures 156.1 x 73.9 x 8.3mm and it weighs 178 grams. The 6.26-inch display with punch-hole design offers 1080 x 2340 pixels full HD+ resolution. The smartphone that boasts a high screen specs offers 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is TUV Rheinland certified. It is designed to protect the eyes of the users from the blue rays released by the screen.

The Nova 5i Pro has been confirmed to launch on Friday, July 26. The phone will come with a quad-camera setup arranged in Huawei’s Matrix format that debuted with the Mate 20 series. Press renders of the phone have now surfaced and they show the phone will come in three colors.

We already know the Nova 5i Pro will come in green, thanks to the official poster released by Huawei. This new leak reveals there will also be a Magic Night Black variant and an Aurora gradient color variant with a mix of blue and purple. The TENAA listing has a plain blue variant but we are not sure if that will launch alongside these three color variants.

Huawei has shared a new promo video on Weibo. It reveals that it will be launching the Nova 5i Pro smartphone on July 26. The Chinese manufacturer has started the pre-sale of the Nova 5i Pro smartphone ahead of the Friday launch.

The Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i smartphones were made official in June. Before the launch of these smartphones, the rumor mill had also speculated that the company will be debuting another phone called Nova 5i Pro. The moniker of the phone suggested that it would be an advanced version of the Nova 5i phone. The Chinese manufacturer has today confirmed on the arrival of the Nova 5i Pro smartphone by releasing its first promo video.

A leakster from China has shared fresh images of Nova 5i Pro on Weibo. The SPN-AL00 model number present on it suggests that the images actually belong to the Mate 30 Lite smartphone.

The images of the Huawei Mate 30 Lite show that it features a punch-hole display. The rear design is very similar to the Mate 20 smartphone from last year. There is a square-shaped camera module present on the backside of the phone it includes an LED flash and three camera sensors. A fingerprint scanner is available below the camera system. The Mate 30 Lite’s back panel features a textured glass rear that is fitted with a square-shaped camera system that includes four camera sensors and an LED flash alongside it.

The 7nm Kirin 810 chipset will be present at the helm of the Mate 30 Lite with up to 8 GB of RAM. The smartphone will arrive with a maximum internal storage of 256 GB.

The EMUI 9 based Android 9 Pie OS will be preinstalled on the device. The 4,000mAh battery of the smartphone will carry support for 20W rapid charging. It will be sporting a front camera of 32-megapixel. Its rear shell includes a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera system. There is no information available on the pricing and availability of the smartphone.

The Mate 30 series of flagship phones are expected to go official in October. However, now that the Mate 30 Lite has passed TENAA certification, it may debut as early as next month. The same phone could be heading to European markets as Nova 5i Pro.

Before the Nova 5i launched alongside the Nova 5 and Nova 5 Pro last month, there were reports of a Nova 5i Pro too but Huawei didn’t announce it at the launch event.

A schematic diagram from its manual was leaked afterward, confirming the device does exist. Now, promo materials have also surfaced, revealing all there is to know, save for the price and launch date, about the upcoming device.

The Nova 5i Pro will have a punch-hole FHD+ display like the non-pro model albeit smaller at 6.26-inches. The display has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 90.7% screen-to-body ratio. Inside the hole which sits at the top left corner is a 32MP camera.

The phone will adopt the Mate 20 Pro’s Matrix camera design but house four sensors instead of three. The primary camera is a 48MP sensor and it is paired with an 8MP super wide-angle camera, a 2MP sensor with a macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. Flanking the housing on the right is the LED flash and below it is a fingerprint scanner.

The Nova 5i Pro swaps the Kirin 710F of the Nova 5i for the newer and more powerful Kirin 810. It has 8GB of RAM and will come in 128GB and 256GB versions. There is a 4000mAh battery under the hood and it has support for 20W fast charging. Huawei says the phone can charge to 50% in 30 minutes and will take 90 minutes to charge to 100%.

The Nova 5i Pro will come in three colors – Aurora, Emerald, and Midnight Black. The back of the phone has a 3D curve but we are not sure if it is glass or plastic.

The Nova 5i Pro specs in the promo materials are identical to those of the TENAA-certified Huawei SPN-AL00 and Huawei SPN-TL00 which have been reported to be variants of the Mate 30 Lite. If that is the case, the Nova 5i Pro will launch in Europe and other markets as the Mate 30 Lite.

Since the company did not announce Nova 5i Pro, it appeared that the device does not exist. Reliable tipster Evan Blass has shared a schematic of the unreleased Nova5i Pro which not only suggests that it exists, but also reveals that it will be sporting a different design from what was seen on its JD.com listing.

The following image was found on the JD.com listing of the Nova 5i Pro. The handset features a wide notch, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a vertical dual camera setup with an LED flash. The design actually matches with the Nova 3iv smartphone from last year.

However, the image shared by Blass shows the Nova 5i Pro flaunting a unique appeal. The smartphone can be seen with the trendier punch-hole display design with a slightly thick chin. The rest of the bezels of the smartphone are slimmer. The recently announced Nova 5i also features a punch-hole display. The top edge of the Nova 5i Pro has an earpiece. A volume rocker and a power key are available on the right spine of the Nova 5i Pro. Its left edge seems to feature a slot for the SIM card tray.

The bottom edge of the Nova 5i Pro in the new schematic shows the presence of a USB port (probably, USB-C) and a 3.5mm audio jack. There is a square-shaped camera module on the upper half of the Nova 5i Pro’s rear shell. An LED flash is placed alongside it and a fingerprint placed below it.

The Nova 5i comes with 6.4-inch display, Kirin 710 chipset, 6 GB / 8 GB of RAM, 128 GB of storage, 16-megapixel quad camera, 16-megapixel selfie camera and 4,000mAh battery. If Nova 5i Pro truly exists, it will certainly arrive with better specs than the Nova 5i. Hopefully, more details of the phone may appear in the coming days.

The back panel of the phone will be featuring 24-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera setup. It will have a front-facing snapper of 24-megapixel. Hence, it appears that not all the phones in the Nova 5 series will have a 32-megapixel front camera.

The Android 9 Pie OS with the latest EMUI version will be available on the device. Other features of the phone include microSD card slow and rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Some reports have claimed that it may not arrive in market as Nova 5i, but as Nova 5. Also, it could be the first phone to feature the upcoming Kirin 810 chipset. However, there is no official information available on the existence of the Kirin 810. There seems to be another Nova 5 series called Nova 5i Pro. However, its specs are not known yet.
