Nubia‘s product launch today was healded by the launch of the Red Magic 5S gaming phone but the company also unveiled a wave of products including the Nubia Watch. One other product that was unveiled by Nubia is the 120W GaN charger with three charging ports.

Just like other GaN chargers in the market, Nubia’s 120W GaN three-port charger is manufactured using gallium nitride semiconductors. The use of gallium nitride semiconductor materials has the advantages of super thermal conductivity, high-temperature resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and greatly reduces the size of the charger.

Moreso, the fast charger presents with a power 120W support which is a milestone in the annals of Gallium Nitrite-powered chargers. Before now, most of the GaN chargers around are either 65W or 90W rated but the Nubia GaN three-port charger pushed that up to 120W, the first of its kind. The portable charger comes with three charging ports consisting of a USB-A port and two USB-C ports. It can be used to power up several devices such as mobile phones, tablets and even laptops.

Further, the company claims the charger is 25% smaller than the MacBook Pro’s 96W USB-C power adapter. Apart from a compact build, the GaN three-port charger adopts an impressive design wich floors that of Apple’s and other popular GaN chargers around.

Apart from the 120W GaN charger, Nubia also launched a 65W GaN three-port and 45W GaN dual-port chargers. The company also unveiled a dual-head USB-C two-in-one data cable that supports 5A current and multi-protocol fast charging.

The Nubia 120W GaN three-port charger comes with a decent 299 yuan (~$43) price tag while the 65W GaN three-port and 45W GaN dual-port chargers are priced at 169 yuan (~$24) and 99 yuan (~$14) respectively. The dual-head USB-C two-in-one data cable is priced at 79 yuan (~$11).

Earlier this year, in March, ZTE-backed Nubia had announced its 65W GaN charger along with a few other accessories at the Nubia Red Magic 5G smartphone launch event. The charger was made available for purchase in China just a month after its announcement.

Now, another GaN charger from the company is set to make its debut next week. Nubia President Ni Fei has confirmed that a new 120W GaN three-port charger will be launched along with the Nubia Red Magic 5S smartphone on 28th July.

The teaser poster showcases the upcoming Nubia 120W GaN Charger which has two USB-C ports and one USB-A port. It continues with the foldable plug design that we saw on the 65W GaN charger from the company.

The new 120W GaN Charger is quite compact in size. The company’s executive says that it will come powered by the latest Gallium Nitride chips and has support for extremely fast charging speed.

The sleek and elegantly designed charger will be offered in Metallic Gray color, similar to its predecessor. We expect the company to share more details in the coming days. Anyways, the launch event in just a few days away.

The pricing of the upcoming Nubia 120W GaN Charger remains unknown but it will definitely be costlier compared to the 65W GaN Charger from the company, which is priced at 169 yuan that roughly converts to $24.

Gallium Nitride (GaN) is a better alternative to silicon for chargers as it can withstand more power and temperature. The GaN chargers are relatively smaller than the regular high-capacity silicon chargers, making them better in portability.
