If you own the Nubia Z17, then you will definitely be pretty pissed at Nubia by the time you are done reading this post.

The Nubia Z17 was one of the flagship phones released by Nubia last year and an impressive one due to its combination of flagship specs and an affordable price. When it was announced in June, it ran Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box which is understandable since Android Oreo wasn’t out yet.

Nubia later updated the phone to Nubia UI 6.0 based on Android 8.1 Oreo, making that its first major OS update and as it has turned out now, its last.

Nubia has announced that its 2017 flagship will not get any major OS upgrade anymore. According to the manufacturer, the software development team has to focus on other devices and won’t be working on the Nubia Z17 anymore. Which means it will not get Android Pie and other future Android versions. However, the phone will still get Nubia UI updates.

While Nubia hasn’t said anything about the Nubia Z17s, its second flagship of 2017, we will advise you not to raise your hopes. The phone got an update last month and it still didn’t bring Android 8.1 Oreo, so users are still stuck on Android Nougat. The update to Oreo may come later but there is a high chance that will also be its last major OS update.

In conclusion, this is a bad decision by Nubia and one that may hurt its sales in the future. Software support has become a big deal and a major factor when it comes to buying a phone. Nobody wants to shell out a lot of money for a phone that only gets one major OS update talkless of a flagship.

Nubia is pushing out an update to 2016’s Z11 mini S. The new update which comes as Nubia UI 3.09 brings a ton of new visual changes, new features, and bug fixes. Sadly, it doesn’t update the Android version.

Some of the new features include new animations for missed calls; adaptive weather icons; animations for background file transfer and recording, along with notifications when completed; and a new icon for roaming. Nubia has also changed the position of the alarm clock and signal icons.

The update also brings a game mode which restricts notifications and pop-ups from interrupting the user and also increases performance. It also blocks edge gestures, one-touch fingerprint screenshot, and split-screen function.

Some users who have updated their devices have complained about some missing features such as the power saving mode. One user also says power consumption of the screen is higher than normal.

Nubia Z11 Mini is all set to be announced on April 19. While we don’t know whether the two other rumored devices in the lineup, the Nubia Z11 Max and the Z11 will be showcased at the event, for now, the company seems to be focusing on the small screen flagship.

The company has started teasing the new device, and has already confirmed that it will come in a small form factor. And now, the general manager of Nubia smartphones, Ni Fei has revealed a new interesting feature of the device.

According to the latest post from the GM, Nubia Z11 Mini will most likely come with a Super Screen Video capture mode, which is basically a feature to record your screen. Instead of just taking a picture of the screen, this particular mode will take a video of the screen in action, just like screen capture on your desktop PC or laptop. You can see a live demo of the Super Screen capture mode from the video down below.

This particular feature could be directly embedded into the Nubia UI, and can be a good selling point for the OS. You could easily capture your screen live, while playing games or make tutorial videos without much fuss. Not a unique feature, still it can come in handy in some cases. Ni Fei also revealed that there would be new UI changes and optimizations on the upcoming Nubia version to improve the overall experience using the device. More details will be revealed in the coming days to the launch.

Meanwhile, we can also expect the company to reveal a few of the hardware features of the Nubia Z11 before April 19, when the phone will finally be official.

ZTE has just announced in its @中兴V5 Weibo account that the launch of the new ZTE V5 flagship phone will be held on October 23 in Beijing.

It has been reported that the ZTE V5 flagship phone has support for dual-4G LTE, a bigger screen, and more fashionable design. It will also use the well-received Nubia UI and sport 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization (OIS). Reports also say that this phone will also cost around 1000 RMB (163.25 USD).

After ZTE formally announced on their official Weibo account that they would change the name of the “ZTE Red Bull Phone” to the “ZTE V5 phone” on September 22, yesterday more information was posted online about the phone saying that a new version with a big screen may be released.
