Nubia is the ZTE’s subsidiary brand that makes pretty good phones. The Nubia Z17 mini was released quite some time ago and due to recent price drops, it now offers insane value for the price of just $165.99!

As a matter of fact, I have recently reviewed the Nubia Z17 mini which is a very similar phone to the Lite version. Therefore, I can easily recommend the both the Mini and the Lite models to anyone who is looking for a great budget smartphone.

The Nubia Z17 Lite has amazing specs for the price. The device ships with a powerful Snapdragon 652 chip that can easily handle most of the 3D games, 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Other specs include powerful cameras (13MP+13MP sensors one the back and 16MP shooter on the front) and a 3200mAh battery.

The phone has thick bezels on the top and bottom but the bezels on the sides are very thin. That display is just brilliant as it is really sharp, it has a good contrast and punchy colors.

If you follow my channel, you know that I just love metal phones as they feel more premium and substantial to me. The Nubia z17 Lite is a great example. It’s well made, it feels nice in the hand and the phone looks very premium.

At $289, the Nubia Z17 Lite is an irresistible smartphone, given that it comes with a bezel-less display, powerful dual rear cameras, Snapdragon 653, 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of ROM. Nubia is known for its quality of workmanship and these specs make the phone a bargain under $300. The phone up for sale is the Black Gold version, but there’s a Blue color version as well. Note that you can also opt for a bundle consisting of the smartphone, a soft case, and tempered glass for an additional $19.

Nubia announced the Nubia Z17 Lite last week and it was billed to go on sale this September. The device has finally gone up for its first sale in China. The Nubia Z17 Lite is a trimmed down version of the flagship Nubia Z17 which was released in July. The new smartphone has a hardware lineup which places in a mid-range category but its design is very much similar to that of the Z17. The sales commenced simultaneously on Nubia’s official shop, Tmall, and Suning Tesco and the product is still up for grabs on all three channels.

As a result of the trimmed down specs, the Z17 Lite comes with a reduced price tag from its flagship counterpart. The Nubia Z17 Lite 6GB + 64GB version has a price tag of 2,499 Yuan (~$378) while the 6GB + 128GB version sells for 2,799 Yuan (~$455) and it is available in Aurora Blue. While these prices are affordable, they are strikingly close to the retail price for the Z17. For instance, the 6GB + 64GB Nubia Z17 version retails at 2799 Yuan ($411) and that is just a difference of 300 Yuan. While the 6GB + 128GB variant comes in at 600 Yuan higher with a retail price of 3399 Yuan ($500).

As a reminder, the Nubia Z17 Lite features a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor backed by 6GB of RAM while the storage varies between a 64GB model and a higher version with 128GB storage. The device uses a metal body and is also ultra-thin at 7.6mm in thickness. The Z17 Lite also packs a 13MP Mono + 13MP RBG dual rear camera setup while at the front there is a 16MP selfie camera. The camera also comes with Nubia’s NeoVision 7.0 software which uses a bunch of smart algorithms to improve dual camera performance, zoom, scene recognition as well as video recording.

The Z17 Lite is indeed a Lite version of the flagship Nubia Z17 which was announced a couple of months back. The Z17 Lite was first spotted on TENAA a few months back and utilizes exactly the same bezel-less design as the Z17. There is a dual camera setup at the rear as well. But this model packs a different processor which places it in the mid-range category.

The Nubia Z17 Lite features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 653 processor which is a decent chipset and can handle hard gaming. The processor is backed by 6GB of RAM while the storage varies between a 64GB model and a higher version with 128GB storage. The Z17 Lite equally sports a similar 5.5-inch display Full HD (1080p) resolution like its flagship counterpart. The device uses a metal body and is also ultra-thin at 7.6mm in thickness.

The Z17 Lite also features a dual rear camera setup which consists of 13MP Mono + 13MP RBG sensors, while at the front there is a 16MP selfie camera. The Nubia Z17 flagship smartphone that was released recently is one of the most powerful smartphones of this year. Now, ZTE appears to be working on the launch a stripped-down edition of its flagship. The alleged Nubia Z17 Lite has surfaced on TENAA with a model number of NX591J.

According to TENAA listing, the NX5911 Nubia phone measures 152.8 x 72.55 x 7.95mm and its weight is 169 grams. It features a 5.5-inch TFT screen that offers FHD resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Below the display is the trademark red ring Home button. The alleged Nubia Z17 Lite is fueled by 2.0 GHz octa-core processor. The exact name of the chipset is not present on the TENAA listing. It will be coming with a 3,100mAh battery which is slightly smaller than the 3,200mAh battery present on the Nubia Z17.

The alleged Nubia Z17 Lite features 6 GB of RAM. The native storage of the phone is 64 GB. The phone features a dual rear camera system. However, the TENAA listing only reveals the main camera of the dual camera module as 12-megapixel and it does not mention any information about the secondary camera sensor. A dual-LED flash can be seen next to the twin camera system.

Like the Nubia Z17 flagship, its alleged Lite edition may also feature a 12-megapixel sensor + a 23-megapixel sensor. The front side of the phone has a 16-megapixel sensor. The rear side of the phone also features a fingerprint reader and a nubia logo at the center. It will come loaded with Android 7.1.1 Nougat that will be overlaid with the latest nubia UI skin. It will be arriving in color choices like black, silver and gold.

Since the device has appeared on TENAA, it seems that the arrival of the Nubia Z17 Lite is close at hand. At present, there is no information on the pricing and availability of the phone.

The Nubia Z17 that is currently only available in China is the world’s first smartphone to support Quick Charge 4+ rapid charging feature from Qualcomm. Moreover, it is also the first Snapdragon 835 smartphone with 8 GB of RAM. Apart from its dual camera feature, it features a true bezel-less display. The only major competitors for the Nubia Z17 is the OnePlus 5 and Xiaomi Mi 6.
