<p>According to a recent report that has surfaced online, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> has started releasing an October Security update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphones.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the company released this smartphone in August 2021 with Android 11 pre-installed. The device was later upgraded to Android 12 in the same year and Android 13 in late 2022. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip3-5g/">Galaxy Z Flip 3 </a>is also highly expected to receive the One UI 6.0 update when it arrives.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="1000" height="746" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Featured 001" class="wp-image-407630" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001.jpg 1000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-300x224.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-768x573.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-80x60.jpg 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-265x198.jpg 265w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-696x519.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Samsung-Galaxy-Z-Flip-3-Featured-001-563x420.jpg 563w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure></div>

<p>The update is currently available to download on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphones in limited countries. For example, Colombia, Guatemala, Panama, Peru, and Trinidad &amp; Tobago. The patch arrives with a build version of F711BXXS6FWI1. It is worth mentioning that the patch is majorly focused on security and does not bring any UI improvements or new features. Samsung was able to fix major security vulnerabilities like the breaches where the breachers were able to execute harmful viruses through the Wi-Fi networks.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the October security update first landed on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 and is slowly making its way to other smartphones as well. Those who are eligible for the update can head over to Settings &gt; Software Update &gt; Download and Install. The company has yet to reveal when the patch will be available for other countries. However, we expect the other countries to receive the update soon. So stay tuned.</p>

<p>According to a recent report, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> has started releasing an October security update on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-a54/">Galaxy A54</a> smartphones.</p>

<p>For those unaware, earlier, the company released the October security patch for its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-5/">Galaxy Z Flip 5</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5/">Galaxy Z Fold 5</a> smartphones. Now, it seems other smartphone series are also in line for the update.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="500" height="500" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-A54-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy A54" class="wp-image-523268" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-A54-1.jpg 500w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-A54-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-A54-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/01/Samsung-Galaxy-A54-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px" /></figure></div>

<p>As per a recent report by SAMmobile, the update arrives with a build version of A546VSQS5AWI1. This new October update is majorly focused on improved security and the device’s stability. So, the users should not expect any new UI features or performance improvements. It is worth mentioning in this latest patch, Samsung has managed to fix over 12 vulnerabilities found in the previous version of the update. For example, the company fixed one critical vulnerability where the breachers were able to execute harmful viruses through the Wi-Fi networks.</p>

<p>Furthermore, the patch is currently live for Verizon’s network users in the USA. Those who wish to upgrade their Galaxy A54 (<a href="https://geni.us/hqm9XKz" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener sponsored nofollow">Amazon</a>) smartphones to the latest update can head over to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. The company has yet to reveal when the other regions will also be able to receive the update. However, we expect to receive more information in the future.</p>

<p>In related news, earlier leaks have revealed that the S24 series will be powered by Exynos 2400 chips. This means that Exynos chipsets are making a comeback in 2024. Those who wish to know more about this can check our <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/05/exynos-2400-gpu-performance/">Exynos 2400’s GPU better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2</a> story here.</p>

Interestingly, the new for the phone started rolling out <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/02/google-october-2018-security-patch-brings-fixes-for-26-security-bugs/">minutes after Google released the same</a> for its own devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-205337 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Essential-Phone-Android-Pie.jpg?x44794" alt="Essential Phone Android Pie" width="1080" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Essential-Phone-Android-Pie.jpg 1080w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Essential-Phone-Android-Pie-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Essential-Phone-Android-Pie-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Essential-Phone-Android-Pie-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1080px) 100vw, 1080px" /></p>
<p>Apart from the October security patch, the new update also brings back the notch settings, which enables users to hide the notch on top of the display. The notch settings, which enables customisation of app uses the notch area disappeared after the update from Android 8.1 Oreo to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-pie/">Android 9.0 Pie</a>, when Google introduced new notch logic.</p>
<p>The reintroduced notch settings allows users to set their default notch preference for all applications from three options &#8212;  &#8220;Controlled by application,&#8221; &#8220;Always use notch area,&#8221; or &#8220;Never use notch area.&#8221; The October patches fixes a &#8220;critical vulnerability&#8221; that could allow a remote attacker some pretty high-level access.</p>
<p>Essential is doing something that no one other phone manufacturer has been able to do &#8212; providing Android updates on the same day it gets released. Recently, the company confirmed that it&#8217;ll also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/20/android-q-for-essential-phone-next-year/">provide the next major Android update</a> as well, i.e. Android Q, for the Essential Phone PH-1.</p>

<p>It&#8217;s noteworthy that the company has stopped the development processor of its Essential Phone successor due to the poor sales of the company&#8217;s first smartphone. While it has promised <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-q/">Android Q</a> update, the company&#8217;s future is still uncertain.</p>

It is done to ensure the security of the Android platform by fixing vulnerable features and loopholes. The Android phone users report some security issues on Google community forums, and some are reported by security enthusiasts. Although Google has released the Android Security patch for October 2018, it brings several fixes for security vulnerabilities.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-214885 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/android-p-1.jpg?x44794" alt="october security patch for android" width="616" height="347" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/android-p-1.jpg 616w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/android-p-1-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 616px) 100vw, 616px" /></p>
<p>Google has added 26 fixes for major vulnerabilities that have been reported by the users on Google community forums. The new fixes are available for different components including the Android framework, media framework, system, kernel, and external layout.  The latest security patch has added a fix for a severe vulnerability in the Android Framework. Google reads in the security bulletin that <em>&#8220;The most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in Framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process.</em> <em>The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device.&#8221;</em></p>

<h3><strong>Google fixes Pixel devices issues</strong></h3>
<p>Google has also fixed the fast-charging issues along with an improved overall stability of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices while using Android Auto. There are several other fixes for the Pixel devices which have made it more stable.</p>
