Okinawa Okhi 90 e-scooter arrives with 160km range, 0-90 km/h in 10 seconds

Indian electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa has finally unveiled its latest electric scooter for the domestic market. The product dubbed Okinawa Okhi 90 e-scooter comes with a price tag of ₹1.22 lakh (~$1600). The Okhi-90 has been a long time coming and has featured in leaks and teasers for a long time. There were speculations that the e-scooter will come with a range of 200km but in reality, Okinawa says the Okhi 90 has a maximum range of 160km which is still impressive.

The Okinawa Okhi-90 features a compact front cushion and a pair of 16-inch tires. front cushion. It also comes with a curvy front apron with LED DRLs and turn signals, a chrome trim, an LED headlamp with chrome trim. Other design features include aluminum levers, chrome rearview glass, a wide step-up seat, chrome trim for the side panels, LED taillight, and a grab rail integrated with the frame.

Powering the Okhi-90 is a 3.6 kWh removable battery pack that powers an electric motor with a peak power of 5 bhp. As a result of this powerful setup, the Okhi 90 is capable of hitting a top speed of 90 km/h in 10 seconds. The e-scooter offers a riding range of 160 km per charge in Sports mode.

And as for charging, the Okhi-90 can be charged from zero to 80 per cent in one hour but fully charging that battery takes around four hours.

Okinawa Okhi-90 comes with an LED screen as standard but buyers get the option of a colored digital instrument cluster. The instrument cluster shows essential riding parameters such as battery voltage information, speed, range traveled, etc. The e-scooter also comes with key-less remote, regenerative braking system, boot light, USB port, automatic key locking system, parking mode, Eco and Sports riding modes, and side-stand sensor with start inhibitor.

There is a smart app called Okinawa Connect app which gives users access to several features and functions right from the scooter. This gives access to features such as geo-fencing, vehicle location, and navigation, trip history, speeding alerts, SOS alert, curfew alert, ride diagnostics, and several others.

The Okinawa Okhi90 electric scooter is billed for unveiling by Okinawa Autotech in India and the company has provided another teaser of the stunning e-scooter. We already know that the Okhi90 will pack power to deliver up to 150km on a single charge and other features. The new teaser shows the e-scooter in close quarters and reveals some of its external features.

Okinawa Autotech is a leader in the two-wheeler EV market in India and the introduction of the well-kitted Okhi90 could further cement the company’s position at the top of the market. It is the next major electric vehicle from the Okinawa brand and ii is set to hit the market with a bang. Previous images of the Okhi90 had been in a camouflage mode and the latest images give a clearer picture of the e-scooter. The silhouette images are further exciting the desire to see the Okhi90 unveiled.

The Okinawa Okhi90 sports a unique design, it has LED headlamps, turn indicators, and taillight, with a raked front fascia. It has a fully digital instrument cluster, a compact rider footboard, and switch gears at both handles. There is a thick grab rail at the back and the e-scooter is expected to deliver maximum comfort to its rider and passenger in all its ramifications. The power setup in the Okhi90 helps the e-scooter to accelerate from 0 to its top speed of 80km/h within seconds. While pricing information is still lacking for the Okhi90 at this time, it is expected to compete with some of the premium models currently in the market.

New teaser of the 200km-range Okinawa Okhi 90 e-scooter surfaces

The Okinawa Okhi 90 electric scooter has been the subject of some exciting teasers lately as the buildup to its launch gathers momentum. The Okinawa Okhi 90 comes with a lot of innovative features alongside its up to 200km range, and a new teaser has provided a glimpse of the e-scooter’s LED lighting and headlight.

The latest teaser was coming from the official social media handles of Okinawa Autotech, an Indian two-wheeler manufacturer. The LED turn signals and the headlight of the 2022 Okinawa Okhi 90 both sit inside a casing with a possible chrome outline.

We already know that the 2022 Okinawa Okhi 90 is billed for unveiling on March 24. As the buildup continues ahead of the March 24 launch of the Okhi 90 e-scooter, several other key details will surface including pricing information for the e-scooter. It is expected that the Okinawa Okhi 90 will square up with some of the current high-speed electric bikes in the market. Some of the leading brands in that segment in India are Bajaj, TVS, and Ola.

The Okhi 90 electric scooter is Indian company Okinawa’s introduction into the high-speed segment of the e-scooter market in India. The company has had a presence previously on the low-speed segment of the e-scooter market. The company says that the Okhi 90 e-scooter with a range of up to 200km will be launched in India on March 24, 2022. The Okhi 90 can deliver top speeds up to 90km/h.

Okinawa’s co-founder, Jeetender Sharma in an interview provided some key details about the Okhi 90 e-scooter and some of the plans underway by the company to release other products, especially the Okhi 100. The 200km range of the Okhi 90 is the highest range delivered yet by Okinawa. Okinawa’s co-founder is also of the view that the Okhi 90 e-scooter is going to change the market scenario in India because the e-scooter comes as a futuristic model.

The Okhi 90 will also come with fast charging functionality, as the EV’s battery will be charged up to 80 percent in under 4 hours. The new Okhi 90 e-scooter will also come with artificial intelligence and connected vehicle features yet to be seen in the e-scooter segment in India.
