Samsung is one of the largest technology companies in the world. Even though most of us know Samsung with smartphones, the company actually consists of many different departments. One of these departments is Samsung Display, which is responsible for developing and producing panel technologies. The South Korean technology giant produces displays under this brand both for itself and for many of its competitors, including Apple. It seems that the company is so successful in its business that it produced the screens of 7 out of every 10 iPhones sold.

Samsung is dominating the Apple iPhone 14 OLED supply this year

Apple works with several suppliers for the OLED screens it uses in iPhones. The most important of these are BOE, LG Display, and Samsung Display. According to recent reports, Samsung is dominating the Apple iPhone 14 OLED supply this year. Apple is expected to use more than 120 million OLED panels for the iPhone 14. Almost 70% of these panels will be produced by its biggest competitor.

The company is expecting to ship mid-80 million units out of that total of 120 million. Its closest competitor is LG Display is expected to ship mid-20 million units while BOE is to ship up to 6 million units. Samsung Display supplies OLED panels for all four models; LG Display supplies LTPS for the regular 6.1-inch model and LTPO for the 6.7-inch Pro Max model. BOE only supplies LTPS for the 6.1-inch regular iPhone.

OLED displays are among the most expensive parts used in iPhones. Considering all this, it is concluded that Apple makes money for Samsung from every iPhone it sells. However, this does not change the fact that the US company has outstripped all its competitors in the premium smartphone market.
