Samsung is gearing up for the launch of the latest version of its Android OS based custom skin, the One UI 4.0. While the new version had an initial launch date of September 9, the company has now delayed the roll out for the beta.

The South Korean tech giant’s Community Manager provided update regarding the One UI 4.0, confirming the delayed roll out for the beta in a forum post. He stated that “We ask for your understanding and we cannot inform you of the schedule until the beta is open.” For those unaware, the One UI 4.0 update is highly anticipated since it is based on the new Android 12 OS. Furthermore, its predecessor, the One UI 3.1.1 update, didn’t bring major upgrades or changes to the custom skin.

Previously, the latest version’s beta was expected to go live on September 9 but the brand has delayed the roll out for an indefinite period as of right now. Although, since Samsung has already committed to a September time frame for the launch, the delay might not be too long. However, it is still unlikely to just roll out over the coming weekend. Unfortunately, the reason for the delay is currently unknown. But following tradition, we can expect the beta to drop in the company’s home country, South Korea, first before being released in other regions. Android 12 has been introduced to the world and there’s a big list of devices already lined up to receive the update. Despite being away from the Android 12 beta program, Samsung is set to find its place among the first few devices that are going to receive the update later this month. After announcing the commencement of the One UI 4.0 beta program in South Korea, Samsung has decided to further expand the rollout to Germany.

The confirmation comes from the official Samsung German community and as expected, first in line are the flagship offerings – Samsung S21, Samsung S21 Plus, and Samsung S21 Ultra. The OEM, however, hasn’t been specific about the timeline, leaving users keyed up. But if Samsung’s previous track is anything to go by, there shouldn’t be much of a wait after the update goes live for South Korean units and can be expected by the end of September.

Samsung, having a massive global presence, may even explore the option of adding more countries such as the UK, China, and India to join the program in the next few days. What remains to be seen is the list of devices that are next in the queue to receive the One UI 4.0 beta update.

Android 12-based One UI 4.0 is going to bring a bucket load of changes to the UI including icons and themes, inspired by Android 12’s Material You design. There will be, of course, more security and privacy features on top of it. We will have a better understanding of the changelog when the update finally begins to roll out.

Google is expected to release Android 12 stable by September. Partner OEMs should announce the new version of their skin based on the latest Android at around the same time. Hence, it’s surprising to learn that One UI 4.0 beta based on Android 12 will be available for the Galaxy S21 series in August itself.

Samsung is the only major Android smartphone maker that does not take part in the official Android Beta initiative. Instead, the company runs its own program a month or two after the stable release of the latest Android version.

As per an official announcement (via PiunikaWeb) on the Samsung Members community forum, the South Korean tech giant will be soon rolling out the One UI 4.0 Beta based on Android 12 for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra very soon. Unfortunately, the post does not mention the timeline for the release.

However, a tipster who goes by the name of Chun on Twitter knows when the Android beta builds for the Galaxy S21 series will be available. According to him, the One UI 4.0 beta for the latest-gen Galaxy S models will be released in August itself.

If this happens to be true, then Samsung will be kickstarting the beta program for its Android software before the stable release by Google for the first time. As a result, Android 12 (One UI 4.0) stable is said to arrive for the Galaxy 21 series as early as November, which will be a month ahead of last year.

Last but not least, Chun says that One UI 4.0 will adopt Android 12 Material UI. The OS will come with optimizations for Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 chipsets and a revamped Samsung Notes app as more devices are expected to support S Pen.
