<p>As we approach the Android 15 release, Samsung is preparing to wrap up its One UI 6.1 update rollout. Dozens of Galaxy devices have already received the latest Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update, and the list gets longer as the days go by.</p>

<p>In this post, we have curated a list of Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets that are getting the One UI 6.1 update. Review the list to know if your device is ready to experience <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 6.1</a>.</p>

<p><strong>[Galaxy Quantum series]</strong></p>

<ul><li>Galaxy Quantum 2</li></ul>

<p>These Galaxy phones and tablets are getting the One UI 6.1 update. As you already know, the update is gradually rolled out to all users. So, if your device is on the list but still hasn’t received the update, keep checking regularly as it may arrive anytime soon.</p>

<p>Manually check for updates by navigating to <strong>Settings &gt; Software update</strong> and hitting the <strong>Download and install</strong> option. It’s a bulky update that requires around 2GB of internet data. Hence, ensure that your device has sufficient bandwidth, storage, and battery before you download and install the update.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>Also Read:</strong> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/10/android-15-update-eligible-devices-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Here&#8217;s the Complete List of Android 15 Eligible Devices</a></p>

<h2>Only These Galaxy Devices Will Get Galaxy AI Features</h2>

<p>One UI 6.1 is a super exciting update as it brings plenty of Galaxy AI features as well as some interesting non-AI features.</p>

<p>Unfortunately, the Galaxy AI features are reserved for select Galaxy devices only. They won’t be coming to most devices. Review the list below to check if you’ve got lucky.</p>

<ul><li>Galaxy S24</li><li>Galaxy S24+</li><li>Galaxy S24 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy S23</li><li>Galaxy S23+</li><li>Galaxy S23 FE</li><li>Galaxy S22</li><li>Galaxy S22+</li><li>Galaxy S22 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy S21</li><li>Galaxy S21+</li><li>Galaxy S21 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 5</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 5</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 4</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 4</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 3</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 3</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9+</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy Tab S8</li><li>Galaxy Tab S8+</li><li>Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra</li></ul>

<p>It’s not as if that these Galaxy devices will receive all Galaxy AI features as part of One UI 6.1 upgrade. Samsung is too selective about that. For example, the Galaxy S21 only gets the Circle to Search feature in the name of Galaxy AI.</p>

<h2>One UI 6.1: What’s New and What’s Improved?</h2>

<p>Galaxy AI is the major highlight of One UI 6.1 which brings several impressive AI features.</p>

<p>Let me quickly take you through the Galaxy AI features, and then we’ll move on to the non-AI stuff.</p>

<h3><strong>Galaxy AI Features</strong></h3>

<p><strong>1. Circle to Search with Google</strong></p>

<p>It’s one of the coolest additions to One UI 6.1, which I find very fascinating. It allows searching for anything showing on your screen by drawing a circle around it. The device quickly pulls relevant information from Google search on the same screen.</p>

<p><strong>2. Instant Slow-Mo</strong></p>

<p>Galaxy AI lets you view any video in slow motion by holding a finger on the video. This works with any video, even those recorded using a different device.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1 lets you play around with multiple slow-motion speeds and allows saving AI-generated slow-mo videos.</p>

<p><strong>3. Photo Assist</strong></p>

<p>Editing an image is a lot easier with Galaxy AI. It lets you move objects and people around in an image. You can also resize or remove them completely, and the Galaxy AI will automatically fill the background.</p>

<p>You can also tilt an image in the Gallery, and then Galaxy AI will magically fill in the gaps.</p>

<p><strong>4. Live Translate</strong></p>

<p>With One UI 6.1, you can hear the other person on a call in your language, no matter what language they speak, all thanks to Galaxy AI.</p>

<p>The Live Translate feature also lets you choose the language the other person will listen to.</p>

<p><strong>5. Writing Assist</strong></p>

<p>Samsung Keyboard also gets AI smartness to translate texts or rephrase them in different styles (social, professional, casual, polite, etc). It works with all apps as long as you use the Samsung Keyboard app.</p>

<p><strong>6. Note Assist</strong></p>

<p>With the Galaxy AI integration, the Samsung Keyboard has probably become the best note-taking app. It can help you format the texts for better readability.</p>

<p>The new Notes app can summarize your notes, translate them, and fix spelling mistakes.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>7. Browser Assist</strong></p>

<p>Browser Assist can generate a short summary of web pages and translate them into a different language. However, you’ll need the Samsung Internet browser to use it.</p>

<p><strong>8. Voice Recording Assist</strong></p>

<p>The new Recording app with Galaxy AI integration can transcribe recordings and generate a short summary to help you quickly understand the context.</p>

<p><strong>9. Generative Wallpaper</strong></p>

<p>One UI 6.1 lets you create custom wallpapers. Play around with available options to create wallpapers of your choice.</p>

<p>But what does One UI 6.1 have in store for those Galaxy devices ineligible for Galaxy AI? Well, there are not many big changes, but plenty of small tweaks.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1 brings more battery protection features, an improved gallery search feature, more accurate image clipping, and allows editing the playback speed. There are new lock screen widgets, font options for the clock widget on the lock screen, and the ability to add depth-of-field effects to the home screen and lock screen wallpapers.</p>

<p>Now, you can set a custom background to alarms, change the order of modes, and turn on/off modes from the home screen. The new One UI skin also has a new Samsung Find app, new Samsung Health options, and easier access to video call effects. You can also share the current video editing state with other Galaxy devices.</p>

<p>Are you still waiting for the One UI 6.1 update? Which Galaxy device do you have, and what new features are you excited about? Share your thoughts in the comments below.</p>

<p>One UI is a popular and clean Android custom skin with plenty of customisations to offer. The latest iteration, One UI 6.1, works well with the default settings, but you can improve your device’s performance by tweaking a few settings.</p>

<p>So, if your Samsung Galaxy is running slow or you want to optimise its performance further, apply the tips mentioned below.</p>

<h2>TIP #1: Remove Bloatware</h2>

<p>Samsung phones have bloatware (unwanted apps), and you can’t uninstall them using the regular approach. They eat up storage and might consume additional resources such as RAM and CPU.</p>

<p>Removing these unwanted apps frees up storage and system resources, which can be used by essential apps to offer better performance.</p>

<p>One of the easiest ways to remove bloatware on Samsung phones is by using Universal Android Debloater. You can download it from <a href="https://github.com/0x192/universal-android-debloater/releases" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">GitHub</a> for your PC or Mac. The next step is to set up ADB and then start removing bloatware. You can find a lot of guides for the step-by-step procedure by doing a Google search. </p>

<p>If removing bloatware is too much work for you, add them to the deep sleeping list, as mentioned in the next tip.</p>

<h2>TIP #2: Deep Sleeping Unused Apps</h2>

<p>Apps you have installed on your Samsung device but don’t use very often consume storage (obviously) but also use system resources to sync in the background. Not just performance, it negatively impacts the battery life as well.</p>

<p>If you can’t remove such apps, add them to the deep sleeping list to stop them from running in the background until you open them manually.</p>

<p>Here’s how to do it:</p>

<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Open the <strong>Settings </strong>app.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Tap on <strong>Battery </strong>and click <strong>Background usage limits</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Tap <strong>Deep sleeping apps</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 4:</strong> Click the <strong>“+”</strong> icon at the top.</p>

<p><strong>Step 5:</strong> Select the apps and click <strong>Add</strong>.</p>

<p>Deep sleeping apps never run in the background. This means you won’t receive updates and notifications from those apps when not in use. In case, notifications are crucial for you, putting them to the sleeping apps list would do the job. This will allow the app to occasionally run in the background. However, the notifications may be delayed.</p>

<h2>TIP #3: Switch to Maximum Processing Speed</h2>

<p>Samsung phones are default set to operate at an “Optimal” processing speed, which is fine for most users, as it offers a good balance of performance and battery. However, if you do heavy tasks that require a lot of processing (for example, video editing), switching to “Maximum” processing speed should be a better option but uses more battery.</p>

<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Open the <strong>Settings </strong>app and tap <strong>Device care</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Scroll down to <strong>Processing speed</strong> and tap on it.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Choose <strong>Maximum</strong>.</p>

<p>Switching to maximum processing speed won’t make any difference to the gaming performance, as it does not apply to games.</p>

<p>If you are concerned about your gaming performance, you can set the Game optimisation to the “Performance” mode.</p>

<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Launch the <strong>Settings </strong>app.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Tap the <strong>search icon</strong> and search for “Game Booster settings”.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Click <strong>Game Booster settings</strong> from the search results.</p>

<p><strong>Step 4:</strong> Tap <strong>Game optimisation</strong> and select <strong>Performance</strong>.</p>

<p>If touch protection is enabled on your Samsung Galaxy, disable the <strong>“Save power during touch protection”</strong> toggle to achieve a higher frame rate in games.</p>

<h2>TIP #4: Disable RAM Plus</h2>

<p>Samsung phones have RAM Plus enabled by default. It uses a specified portion of the internal storage to act like RAM. But as you know, RAM is much faster than the internal storage, and therefore it doesn’t make a big difference in the performance.</p>

<p>RAM Plus (or virtual RAM) is better suited for general multitasking and keeping more apps in the background. However, many people have had a completely different experience. Users on Reddit have said that the device performs better when the RAM Plus option is disabled.</p>

<p>You can try disabling the RAM Plus to see if it works in your favour. If things get worse, you can enable it anytime.</p>

<p>Steps to disable RAM Plus on Samsung phones:</p>

<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Open the <strong>Setting </strong>app and tap on <strong>Device care</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Click <strong>Memory</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3: </strong>Tap on <strong>RAM Plus</strong> (located at the bottom of the page).</p>

<p><strong>Step 4:</strong> Disable RAM Plus.</p>

<h2>TIP #5: Enable Auto Optimisation</h2>

<p>Enabling “Auto optimisation” on Samsung phones allows the device to automatically perform necessary optimisations to keep it running smoothly.</p>

<p>To perform the optimisations, the device automatically restarts. Don’t worry; it won’t happen while you’re using the device. Alternatively, you can schedule to restart your phone.</p>

<p><strong>Step 1:</strong> Open the <strong>Settings </strong>app and click <strong>Device care</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Scroll down a little and tap on <strong>Auto optimisation</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3: </strong>Click <strong>Auto restart</strong> and make sure <strong>Restart when needed</strong> is enabled.</p>

<h2>TIP #6: Turn off Power Saving</h2>

<p>If the power saving mode is turned on, you’re losing a lot on the performance side. This mode allows you to keep the device turned on for an extended period by restricting background tasks, disabling synchronisation, turning off 5G and AOD, and tweaking many other settings.</p>

<p>In the power saving mode, the device prioritises battery over performance. Hence, disable it for a snappier experience.</p>

<p>You can turn off power saving from the Control Center itself. If you can’t find the shortcut there, use these steps:</p>

<p><strong>Step 1: </strong>Launch the <strong>Settings </strong>app and tap on <strong>Device care</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 2:</strong> Click <strong>Battery</strong>.</p>

<p><strong>Step 3:</strong> Toggle off <strong>Power saving</strong>.</p>

<h2>TIP #7: Ensure Sufficient Storage and Battery</h2>

<p>When your device runs low on storage or battery (or both), it can severely affect its performance.</p>

<p>For optimal performance, it is recommended that at least 20% to 30% of the internal storage be free and that the battery level be between 80% and 100%.</p>

<p>Applying these easy tips should boost your Samsung device’s performance running One UI 6.1. Although the title mentions One UI 6.1, you can apply these tips to other One UI versions as well, but the steps may be different.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1 offers plenty of ways to optimize the battery life of a Samsung Galaxy. However, these options are scattered across various menus, making it difficult for most users to implement the best battery-saving strategies.</p>

<p>To save you the hassle of navigating through each and every setting on your Samsung Galaxy device, we&#8217;ve compiled the best battery optimization tips for One UI 6.1 to maximize the battery life. Apply the tips mentioned below and observe the difference.</p>

<p class="has-text-align-center"><strong>Also Read:</strong> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/06/02/samsung-one-ui-6-1-performance-optimisation-tips/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">7 Tips to Supercharge One UI 6.1 Performance</a></p>

<h2>Best One UI 6.1 Battery Optimization Tips</h2>

<p>Apply these optimizations to get the best battery life on your Samsung Galaxy device.</p>

<h3>Tip #1: Switch to Maximum Battery Protection</h3>

<p>One UI 6.1 introduces new battery protection features to keep the battery health in check in the long term. It offers three battery protection options: <strong>Basic</strong>, <strong>Adaptive</strong>, and <strong>Maximum</strong>.</p>

<p>The <strong>Basic protection</strong> stops charging the device once the battery level reaches 100% and resumes when it reaches below 95%.</p>

<p>The <strong>Adaptive protection</strong> charges the battery to 80% while you asleep and fills the rest before you wake up.</p>

<p>Maximum protection prioritizes slowing down battery degradation by limiting the maximum charge to 80% while providing enough power for most daily needs.</p>

<p>Go to <strong>Settings &gt; Battery</strong> and select Maximum protection (recommended) to achieve the best balance of battery health and screen-on time.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 Maximum Battery protection" class="wp-image-626134" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/One-UI-6.1-Maximum-Battery-protection.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<h3>Tip #2: Create Routines</h3>

<p>Modes and routines on the Samsung Galaxy are one of the best features that are overlooked by most users. You can create custom routines to disable unnecessary features at a specific time or place.</p>

<p><strong>Routine 1 (battery level is less than 30%)</strong></p>

<ul><li>Enable power saving</li><li>Disable GPS</li><li>Switch to the standard screen refresh rate</li></ul>

<p><strong>Routine 2 (at bedtime)</strong></p>

<ul><li>Change the network mode to 4G</li><li>Enable power saving</li><li>Turn off NFC</li><li>Turn off Wi-Fi</li><li>Turn off mobile data</li><li>Turn off Bluetooth</li><li>Turn off edge panels</li><li>Turn off Always on Display (AOD)</li><li>Disable fingerprint unlocking</li><li>Turn off location</li></ul>

<p>You can add or remove functions from the above two routines as per your requirements.</p>

<p>Steps to create a routine in Samsung Galaxy:</p>

<ol><li>Open the <strong>Settings </strong>app.</li><li>Tap on <strong>Modes and Routines</strong>.</li><li>Go to the <strong>Routines </strong>tab.</li><li>Tap the <strong>“+”</strong> icon at the top.</li></ol>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="Routines in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626141" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Routines-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Set the if condition to trigger a routine. For routine 1, tap <strong>“Add what will trigger this routine”</strong>, click <strong>“Battery level”</strong> and set it to below <strong>30%</strong>. Thereafter, add the settings you want to change, enable, or disable by tapping on <strong>“Add what this routine will do”</strong>. For routine 2, you can set a specific time to trigger the routine.</p>

<h3>Tip #3: Put Unused Apps to Sleep</h3>

<p>Many apps on our phones are for occasional usage. Even if you don’t open them regularly, they can still consume resources. You can limit background usage of such apps to save some battery and resources.</p>

<p>Here’s how to do it:</p>

<p>1. Open the <strong>Settings </strong>app.</p>

<p>2. Tap on <strong>Battery</strong> and click <strong>Background usage limits</strong>.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="945" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="Background usage limits in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626140" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Background-usage-limits-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>3. Tap <strong>Deep sleeping apps</strong>.</p>

<p>4. Click the <strong>“+”</strong> icon at the top.</p>

<p>5. Select the apps and click <strong>Add</strong>.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="Deep sleeping apps in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626139" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Deep-sleeping-apps-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>These deep sleeping apps will not run in the background. They can only run when you launch the app.</p>

<h3>Tip #4: Change These Settings</h3>

<p>Many features contribute to increased battery drain on a smartphone. Hence, try to limit the activated features to as few as possible. Here are some recommendations:</p>

<p><strong>1. Turn off Always On Display (AOD)</strong></p>

<p>The Always On Display (AOD) looks cool, but if you have it enabled all day, it can significantly increase battery drain.</p>

<p>I would recommend disabling AOD for the best screen-on time. However, if you can’t do this, set a routine to activate the AOD when you need it the most.</p>

<p>To disable the AOD, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Lock screen and AOD</strong> and toggle off <strong>Always On Display</strong>.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="945" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="Always On Display (AOD) in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626147" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Always-On-Display-AOD-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>2. Switch to a Wi-Fi Network</strong></p>

<p>Cellular data consumes more battery than a Wi-Fi connection (<a href="https://www.scienceabc.com/innovation/does-mobile-battery-drain-faster-on-mobile-data-or-wi-fi.html">source</a>). Hence, it is always better to use a Wi-Fi connection compared to cellular data.</p>

<p>While you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network, switch to a 4G network, as 5G consumes more battery. You can also set a routine to automate this.</p>

[<strong>Tip:</strong> You can set a routine to automatically switch your Samsung Galaxy to a cellular data connection whenever the Wi-Fi connection is weak.]&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>3. Lower the Screen Refresh Rate</strong></p>

<p>High refresh rates lead to more power consumption as the screen refreshes the image more frequently. Hence, lowering the screen refresh rate results in more screen-on time but at the cost of screen smoothness.</p>

<p>If your Samsung Galaxy has an LTPO display, the display settings should include an adaptive refresh rate option that automatically adjusts the refresh rate based on the content displayed on the screen.</p>

<p>However, if your Galaxy device doesn’t support an adaptive refresh rate, switch to the 90Hz or 60Hz option for better battery saving. </p>

<p>Go to <strong>Settings &gt; Display &gt; Motion smoothness</strong> and select a lower refresh rate option.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="Motion smoothness in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626146" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Motion-smoothness-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>4. Lower the Screen Resolution</strong></p>

<p>A higher-resolution display requires more processing power from the GPU, leading to increased battery consumption. Lowering the screen resolution could help your battery perform well.</p>

<p>To change the screen resolution in Samsung Galaxy, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Display &gt; Screen resolution</strong> and select a lower resolution.</p>

<p><strong>5. Turn on Auto Optimization</strong></p>

<p>Auto optimization on Samsung Galaxy phones performs optimizations to keep the device running smoothly. It closes background apps and cleans memory by restarting the device when you don’t use it.</p>

<p>To enable it, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Device care &gt; Auto optimisation</strong> and enable <strong>Auto restart</strong>.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="Auto optimisation in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626145" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/App-optimisation-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p></p>

<p><strong>6. Enable Adaptive Brightness</strong></p>

<p>Using a smartphone with high brightness for a prolonged period can result in faster battery drain. Enable Adaptive brightness to allow the device to automatically adjust the brightness based on the lighting conditions around you.</p>

<p>To enable Adaptive brightness, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Display</strong> and toggle on <strong>Adaptive brightness</strong>.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="945" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="Adaptive brightness in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626144" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Adaptive-brightness-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>7. Lower the Screen Timeout Duration</strong></p>

<p>If the screen timeout is high, the device will stay awake for a longer period, resulting in more battery drain. Unless you don’t need to see the screen for long, set the screen timeout to 15 or 30 seconds.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>To change the screen timeout, go to <strong>Settings &gt; Display &gt; Screen timeout</strong> and choose a lower duration.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="742" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png?x44794" alt="Screen timeout in One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-626143" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-1024x742.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-300x217.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-768x557.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-696x504.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-1068x774.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-580x420.png 580w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1-324x235.png 324w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Screen-timeout-in-One-UI-6.1.png 1104w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Enable <strong>&#8220;Keep screen on while vieweing&#8221;</strong> to never turn off the screen while you&#8217;re looking at it.</p>

<p>Applying these battery optimization tips will not show results immediately. Wait for a few days and then check the battery usage to see the positive impact. I hope this guide helps you optimize the battery life on your Galaxy device running One UI 6.1. If you have any questions or suggestions, please comment below.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1 is an exciting upgrade, as it brings some really cool AI features, such as AI wallpaper, circle to search, generative edit, chat assist, and live translation. It brings lots of non-AI features and improvements as well. Sadly, many Galaxy devices will miss out on these new features as One UI 6.1 will be rolled out to select devices.</p>

<p>I have curated a list of Galaxy devices that are ineligible for the One UI 6.1 update. Review the list to check if your device will get the next One UI update.</p>

<h2>One UI 6.1 Update Ineligible Devices List</h2>

<p>Samsung is yet to release an official list, but if the One UI rollout history is considered, then these Galaxy phones and tablets won’t get the One UI 6.1 update:</p>

<p><strong>[Galaxy Tab-series]</strong></p>

<p>All Galaxy Tabs launched before 2021 won’t get the One UI 6.1 update.</p>

<p><strong>[Galaxy Xcover-series]</strong></p>

<p>All Galaxy Xcover phones launched before 2021 won’t get the One UI 6.1 update.</p>

<p>If your Samsung Galaxy is not on this list, your device is most likely eligible for the exciting One UI 6.1 update.</p>

<h2>One UI 6.1: What to Expect?</h2>

<p>If your Samsung Galaxy device is eligible for the next One UI upgrade, I know you’d be curiously waiting to explore new features and improvements.</p>

<p>Here are the top things you wouldn’t want to miss:</p>

<p><strong>1. Galaxy AI Features</strong></p>

<p>AI features are the highlights of One UI 6.1, but sadly, these are only coming to select Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy S22 series, S23 series (including S23 FE), Galaxy Tab S9 series (including Tab S9 FE, Tab S9 FE+), Tab S8 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5/Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 4/Flip 4.</p>

<p>If you have any of these Galaxy devices, you’ll get to experience AI Wallpaper, Real-Time Translation, Circle to Search, Note Assist, Browser Assist, and Generative Edit, among many AI features, after upgrading to One UI 6.1.</p>

<p><strong>2. Smoother Animations</strong></p>

<p>The animations in One UI 6.1 feel smoother than before. It adds to a better device experience.</p>

<p><strong>3. Better Battery Protection</strong></p>

<p>One UI 6.1 brings better protection protection. You’ll get three battery protection modes: Basic, Adaptive, and Maximum.</p>

<p>Basic protection keeps your device charged between 95% and 100%, while Adaptive protection pauses charging while you’re asleep and completes it just before you wake up. Maximum protection limits the maximum charge to 80% for better battery health.</p>

<p><strong>4. New Widgets</strong></p>

<p>There are new widgets for the home screen and lock screen to make them more personalized.</p>

<p>There are plenty of other small changes, improvements, and additions to One UI 6.1, which you’ll read in the changelog upon receiving the update.</p>

<p>Which Galaxy device do you own? Do let us know in the comment section below.</p>

<h2>Best Features in One UI 6.1</h2>

<p>AI features are the major highlights of One UI 6.1, but there are some cool non-AI features you’ll also want to explore.</p>

<p><strong>1. Circle to Search:</strong> Circle anything on your screen to search it using Google without opening a different app. The results appear on the screen.</p>

<p><strong>2. Live Translate:</strong> Choose the language you and the person on the other end understand, and let Galaxy AI do the magic. The voice translation happens in real time.</p>

<p><strong>3. AI Wallpaper: </strong>Generate stunning wallpapers for your home screen and lock screen using Galaxy AI. The limitation is that you can’t enter a prompt but must choose from the available keywords.</p>

<p><strong>4. Generative Edit:</strong> Galaxy AI gives you suggestions to enhance photos and videos. You can move, remove, or resize people and objects in images and then fill in any missing places.</p>

<p><strong>5. Notes Assist:</strong> The Notes app in One UI 6.1 can auto-format notes into headings and bullet points and summarise them. It can also help you translate notes and fix spelling mistakes.</p>

<p><strong>6. Browser Assist:</strong> It can summarise long web pages into short paragraphs and bullet points to help you understand the content in a few words. You can also translate them into the language of your choice. Browser Assist only works with Samsung Browser.</p>

<p><strong>7. Chat Assist:</strong> It can help you change the tone of your texts and check grammar and spelling. It works with any texting apps, such as Gmail, WhatsApp, and Telegram, but you must have the Samsung Keyboard as your default keyboard.</p>

<p><strong>8. Battery Protection:</strong> One UI 6.1 offers three different levels of battery protection: Basic, Adaptive, and Maximum. Basic protection keeps your device charged between 95% and 100%, while Adaptive protection pauses charging while you’re asleep and completes it just before you wake up. Maximum protection limits the maximum charge to 80% for better battery health.</p>

<p><strong>9. More Lock Screen Widgets: </strong>There are additional lock screen and AOD screen widgets in One UI 6.1. The new widgets include Weather, Samsung Health, Battery, Reminder, Calendar, and Clock.</p>

<p>There are plenty of minor changes to One UI 6.1, which you can read about <a href="https://twitter.com/MultiRamVerse/status/1773304308966043883">here</a>.</p>

<p>Xiaomi and Samsung are two of the biggest smartphone manufacturers. Their devices boast powerful hardware, but how does their software compare with each other? Although HyperOS and One UI are based on Android, they differ greatly in terms of customization, design, and AI features.</p>

<p>In this HyperOS vs One UI article, we’ll look at the major differences between the two popular custom skins.</p>

<p>HyperOS is the latest brainchild from Xiaomi, and it has been released after years of work. It has a lot of differences from MIUI, which you can read in this <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/04/02/hyperos-vs-miui-which-is-better/">HyperOS vs MIUI post</a>. We’ll compare it with the latest version of Samsung’s custom skin &#8211; One UI 6.1.</p>

<h2>1. Lock Screen</h2>

<p>You see the lock screen countless times every single day. So, let’s begin with it. Both HyperOS and One UI 6.1 offer plenty of lock screen options; however, HyperOS has lots of lock screen layouts to choose from. It also gives you the option to add depth effects.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="HyperOS lock screen customization" class="wp-image-616663" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-lock-screen-customization.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>HyperOS lock screen options</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>One UI 6.1, on the other hand, lets you add multiple widgets to the lock screen. It also allows showing a wallpaper on the Always on Display (AOD) screen. However, as I write this post, this feature is only limited to the Galaxy S24 series.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="945" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 lock screen customizations" class="wp-image-619390" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-lock-screen-customizations.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /><figcaption>One UI lock screen options</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>One of the things I really like about HyperOS is that the AOD to lock screen animation is way better than in One UI 6.1.</p>

<h2>2. Home Screen</h2>

<p>One UI 6.1 gives you more home screen widgets than HyperOS, giving you more options to customise your home screen. You can even stack multiple widgets for easier access and to save space for more icons and widgets. This feature is also present in iPhones.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 home screen customization" class="wp-image-619391" width="945" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-home-screen-customization.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /><figcaption>One UI 6.1 folder colour (left), widgets stack (right)</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p>HyperOS has super folders, which give you many ways to sort apps in folders. This feature can be beneficial if you have a lot of apps on the home screen. One UI 6.1 doesn’t have it but allows you to change the background colour of app folders to identify them quickly.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="HyperOS Super Folder" class="wp-image-619392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-Super-Folder.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>HyperOS Super Folder (Image Credit: <a href="https://twitter.com/iRaj_r/status/1743495288419917998/photo/1" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twitter</a>)</figcaption></figure>

<h2>3. Control Center</h2>

<p>HyperOS has an iOS-inspired control center with big toggles for Wi-Fi and mobile data at the top. The brightness and volume sliders are also very big to be able to identify them quickly. By default, app labels are hidden, which could make it challenging to identify which icon does what unless you’re used to it, though an option exists within settings to make them visible.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="HyperOS vs One UI 6.1 - Control Center" class="wp-image-619393" width="945" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-vs-One-UI-6.1-Control-Center.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /><figcaption>Control Center &#8211; HyperOS (left), One UI (right)</figcaption></figure>

<p>One UI 6.1 splits the quick panel (control center) into multiple areas. There are two large shortcuts at the top and then a section housing most shortcuts. Below that is a small section dedicated to SIM selection for calls, messages, and mobile data.</p>

<p>While both HyperOS and One UI 6.1 allow rearranging shortcuts in the control center, the former reveals all shortcuts on a single scrollable page, and the latter needs to swipe right or left.</p>

<h2>4. Customisation</h2>

<p>One UI 6.1 offers several advantages over HyperOS in terms of customisation. Firstly, there’s a colour palette option, which sort of refreshes the whole experience by changing the colour scheme. You wouldn’t find this option in HyperOS.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="Colour Palette in One UI" class="wp-image-619396" width="945" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Colour-Palette-in-One-UI.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /><figcaption>Colour Palette in One UI</figcaption></figure>

<p>You have more AOD and home screen customisations, as we mentioned earlier. One of the things that I love about One UI 6.1 is its “<strong>Modes and Routines</strong>” feature. You can use it to enable/disable selected features at a specific time or place. One of my useful routines enables DND and AOD when I reach my workplace.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-945x1024.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-945x1024.png?x44794" alt="Modes and Routines in One UI" class="wp-image-619395" width="945" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-945x1024.png 945w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-277x300.png 277w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-768x832.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-696x754.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-1068x1157.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI-388x420.png 388w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Modes-and-Routines-in-One-UI.png 1080w" sizes="(max-width: 945px) 100vw, 945px" /><figcaption>Modes and Routines in One UI</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<h2>5. Performance</h2>

<p>Both HyperOS and One UI 6.1 give a snappy experience. However, HyperOS has a slight edge over One UI, though the difference is minimal.&nbsp;</p>

<h2>6. AI Features</h2>

<p>This is where One UI 6.1 leaves other Android custom skins in the dust, including HyperOS. It offers plenty of AI features, some of which might save you a lot of time. Except for some AI editing within the Gallery app, none of these AI features are found in HyperOS.</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; Circle to Search</strong></p>

<p>You can search for anything showing on your screen without opening another app. Just press and hold the home button or navigation bar and circle anything on your screen. HyperOS doesn’t offer this feature or anything similar.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 Circle to Search" class="wp-image-616548" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Circle to Search in One UI</figcaption></figure></a></div>

<p><strong>&#8211; Powerful Gallery App</strong></p>

<p>The Gallery app in One UI 6.1 gets AI smartness to help you move, remove, or resize the people and objects in photos. It will automatically generate background to fill in any missing portions. The custom skin also gives automatic editing suggestions.</p>

<p>HyperOS is not completely out of the picture here, as it also offers generative fill and the ability to cut out a subject from an image for background removal or save it as a sticker. Both HyperOS and One UI 6.1 let you change the image background.</p>

<p>One excellent addition to One UI 6.1 is the ability to see any videos in slow-mo just by holding on to it. You can even change the speed and save the video.</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; Live Translate</strong></p>

<p>One UI 6.1 features real-time translation during phone calls. It’s a handy feature for communicating with people from around the world.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 live translate" class="wp-image-619400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-live-translate.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Real-Time Call Translation in One UI</figcaption></figure>

<p>You can choose the language you and the other person will listen to. The best part is that the other person doesn’t need a Samsung phone.</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; AI Wallpaper</strong></p>

<p>One UI 6.1 gives you the ability to generate wallpapers. Although it’s a great option to generate wallpapers based on your needs, there is a limited set of keywords to choose from.</p>

<p></p>

<p><strong>&#8211; Browser Assist</strong></p>

<p>Browser Assist in One UI 6.1 can quickly summarise and translate webpages. Using this feature, you can quickly understand the content without having to read through the entire article. You can also translate a webpage into the language of your choice.</p>

<p><strong>&#8211; Note Assist</strong></p>

<p>The Notes app in One UI 6.1 also gets AI smartness with the ability to auto format notes, translate language, summarise text, and correct grammatical mistakes. These AI features are helpful and can save you a lot of time if you take a lot of notes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large is-resized"><img loading="lazy" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-1024x683.webp?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 notes" class="wp-image-619399" width="1024" height="683" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-1024x683.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-300x200.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-768x512.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-696x464.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-1068x712.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes-630x420.webp 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-notes.webp 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>One UI 6.1 &#8211; Notes</figcaption></figure>

<p><strong>&#8211; Interpreter</strong></p>

<p>The interpreter feature in One UI 6.1 helps you talk with someone face to face who doesn’t understand your language. Select your language and the other person’s language and start the conversation.</p>

<p>YouTubers do a lot of podcasts and interviews where the interpreter can play a crucial role.</p>

<h2>7. Dynamic Notch</h2>

<p>Similar to Apple’s Dynamic Island, HyperOS-powered smartphones have a dynamic notch feature, which works when you connect the charger, turn on Battery Saver, enable Do Not Disturb (DND), switch to silent mode, and turn on the hotspot.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-1024x754.webp?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="754" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-1024x754.webp?x44794" alt="HyperOS dynamic notch" class="wp-image-619405" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-1024x754.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-300x221.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-768x565.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-696x512.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-571x420.webp 571w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2-80x60.webp 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/HyperOS-dynamic-notch-2.webp 1068w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The dynamic notch in HyperOS only works with a few actions, but it’s a cool visual element to have, which One UI lacks.</p>

<h2>HyperOS or One UI: Which Is Better?</h2>

<p>Both HyperOS and One UI are great, but picking one of them really depends on your needs and priorities. HyperOS gives you a minimalist experience with better lock screen customizations and integration with Xiaomi products. One UI 6.1, on the other hand, offers more customisations, widgets, and AI features. Last but not least, Samsung phones with One UI 6.1 better integrate with Windows.</p>

<p>Make a list of your priorities and features you want, and then choose between HyperOS and One UI. Let me know if you need more help by dropping your queries in the comments below.</p>

<p>In a surprising turn of events, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung </a>has now confirmed that select Galaxy smartphones from 2021 and 2022 will receive the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> One UI 6.1</a> update alongside some Galaxy AI features. The news comes after earlier rumors suggested these devices might miss out on the AI functionalities.</p>

<p>There is a caveat, however. The 2021 flagships, including the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3, will gain access to a limited set of AI features.&nbsp;</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/samsung-galaxy-ai-ree-until-2025-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt=""/></figure></div>

<p>These features are Google Circle Search and functionality likely referring to Chat Assist, codenamed &#8220;Magic Rewrite&#8221; in the announcement. Chat Assist allows users to adjust the tone and style of messages through the Samsung Keyboard.</p>

<p>The 2022 flagships, which include the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, and Galaxy Tab S8 series, will however receive a wider range of Galaxy AI features.</p>

<p>Yet, they will miss out on the Instant Slow-mo feature which enables users to slow down videos by long-pressing the screen.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to a Samsung Korea community moderator, the hardware limitations of the Exynos and Snapdragon chips used in these pre-2023 devices prevent them from supporting Instant Slow-mo.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of the devices receiving One UI 6.1 with Galaxy AI features:</p>

<ul><li>2021 Flagships:<ul><li>Galaxy S21 series</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 3</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 3 (Limited Features)</li></ul></li><li>2022 Flagships:<ul><li>Galaxy S22 series</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 4</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 4</li><li>Galaxy Tab S8 series</li></ul></li></ul>

<p>The update rollout is scheduled for early May, although this timeframe might be specific to the Korean market. Samsung has yet to reveal a detailed global rollout schedule, so users in other regions might see the update arrive later in May or even beyond.</p>

<p>Thankfully, Galaxy AI isn’t limited to the Galaxy S24 series, as the brand is already rolling it out to the last-generation flagship phones and tablets with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 6.1</a> update. If you have already received the One UI 6.1 update (with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-ai/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy AI</a> features) or are desperately waiting for it, here are the 6 mind-blowing AI features you can’t afford to miss.</p>

<h2>1. Circle to Search With Google</h2>

<p>It’s one of the best AI features added to One UI 6.1. You circle an object or text on your screen and get the results from Google. There is no need to open a separate app; hence saving more time.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 Circle to Search" class="wp-image-616548" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Circle-to-Search.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Wow, what is he/she wearing in the video? Which gadget is on his desk? How can I get the same product? If you ask the same questions while watching Instagram Reels or videos on YouTube or other platforms, thank Samsung for this AI feature.</p>

<p>To use the Circle to Search feature, <strong>long press the home button or the navigation bar button</strong>, and use your finger or s-pen to circle an object on your screen. You can also tap on a specific object to use it. The best part is that you get the results in the same window. There’s no need to leave the app.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 Cirlcle to Search" class="wp-image-616531" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Cirlcle-to-Search.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>You can also tap on text to <strong>copy</strong> or <strong>translate </strong>it. This feature has many use cases, and it’s definitely a great addition to One UI 6.1.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Galaxy AI - Circle to Search" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/931017990?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963" width="498" height="600" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write"></iframe>
</div></figure>

<h3>2. Powerful AI Image Editing</h3>

<p>The One UI 6.1 upgrade has brought several amazing AI image editing features to the built-in Gallery app, helping you get a perfect shot.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Galaxy AI - Generative Edit" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/931020028?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963" width="342" height="700" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write"></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>Open the <strong>Gallery </strong>app, tap on an image, and hit the <strong>edit (pencil) icon</strong>. Now, click the <strong>Galaxy AI icon</strong> in the lower left side, and then the AI magic comes into the picture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>You can rotate the image and tap <strong>Generate </strong>to fill the portion outside of the frame. It can take a few seconds. Galaxy AI was able to fill the remaining portions with accurate colours in most pictures during my tests.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 Generative Photo Edit" class="wp-image-616530" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-Generative-Photo-Edit.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Got an unwanted object ruining your photo? No worries. Galaxy AI can remove it and smartly fill the removed portion. You can even resize and move objects.</p>

<p>You can press and hold an object to save it as a sticker. You can also paste it to a different image.</p>

<h2>3. Instant Slow-Mo Videos</h2>

<p>Any video in the Gallery app can be instantly converted to a slow-mo video in One UI 6.1. AI does the magic here by analyzing existing frames and generating new frames to make the video look smoother.</p>

<p>To use this feature, open the <strong>Gallery </strong>app, tap on a video, and hold on to it. The video starts playing in slow-motion.</p>

<p>Tapping the pencil icon at the bottom gives you more options. You can choose from different slow-mo speeds, select a specific portion from the video to convert slow-mo or save the slow-mo video to your device.</p>

<h2>4. Texting Gets a Major Upgrade</h2>

<p>Samsung Keyboard gets interesting AI features with the One UI 6.1 update. You can now change the tone of your texts and check the spelling and grammar.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy AI Chat Assist" class="wp-image-616534" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Chat-Assist.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>Want to sound like a cool guy or maintain a professional tone while chatting with your boss? Galaxy AI has got you covered.</p>

<p>Open a texting app (WhatsApp, Messages, etc.), and write in your style. Now, select the texts, tap on the AI icon in the keyboard layout, and choose <strong>Writing style</strong>. Galaxy AI will rewrite in multiple tones. Choose the one you like and send it to the other person.</p>

<p>When sending professional messages or emails, you can use the <strong>Spelling and grammar</strong> feature to not get embarrassed later.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="One UI 6.1 AI chat assist" class="wp-image-616538" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/One-UI-6.1-AI-chat-assist.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>These AI texting features only work with the Samsung Keyboard, so that’s a prerequisite. You can also use them on any texting apps, such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Gmail, LinkedIn, and Messages.</p>

<h2>5. Real-Time Call Translation</h2>

<p>Samsung phones with Galaxy AI features can translate calls on the go. This impressive AI feature translates your voice into a selected language and sends that AI-processed voice to the listener. All this happens in real time.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy AI - Live Call Translation" class="wp-image-616543" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Live-Call-Translation.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The tech community has highly praised this real-time call translation AI feature, as it can greatly remove the language barrier. What’s more interesting is that the other person doesn’t need a Samsung phone.</p>

<p>This feature is excellent for people and businesses with international clients.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Galaxy AI - Call Translation" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/931022792?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963" width="316" height="460" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write"></iframe>
</div></figure>

<h2>6. Intelligent Notes App</h2>

<p>I use Samsung Notes quite extensively, and the integration of AI features has made my life a lot easier. It can format my long notes into headers and bullets for better readability, summarise big paragraphs, and correct spelling.</p>

<div><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-1024x683.png?x44794" class="td-modal-image"><figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-1024x683.png?x44794" alt="Galaxy AI - Note Assist" class="wp-image-616545" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-1024x683.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-300x200.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-768x512.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-696x464.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-1068x712.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist-630x420.png 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Galaxy-AI-Note-Assist.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></a></div>

<p>The new Notes app in One UI 6.1 can also translate texts into different languages.</p>

<p>To use it, open the Notes app, tap on a note, and click the Galaxy AI icon to see the AI features.</p>

<p>If you take a lot of notes on the Samsung Notes app, you’ll love these AI integrations.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-vimeo wp-block-embed-vimeo"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Galaxy AI - Note Assist" src="https://player.vimeo.com/video/931023386?dnt=1&amp;app_id=122963" width="484" height="514" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; clipboard-write"></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>These are the 6 best AI features I like in One UI 6.1. I really wanted to include the Generative AI Wallpaper feature in this list, but it has very few options for creating a wallpaper of your choice.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1 also offers an Intelligent Samsung Browser that can summarise and translate web pages. It can save you a lot of time. The latest One UI skin also has a feature to show lock screen wallpaper on the Always on Display (AOD), but this feature is exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series and won’t come to older Galaxy devices.</p>

<p>According to the company, the update will begin rolling out in late March 2024, initially focusing on flagship devices such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s23/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S23</a> series, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-flip-5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Flip 5</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-5/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Z Fold 5</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-tab-s9/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy Tab S9 series. </a></p>

<p>One UI 6.1, which debuted with the Galaxy S24 lineup, brings along several new AI features grouped under &#8220;Galaxy AI.&#8221; These features will be making their way to older devices with the announced One UI 6.1 update.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The company is aiming to bring these &#8220;Galaxy AI&#8221; features to over 100 million Galaxy devices by the end of 2024. Here&#8217;s a breakdown of some key AI-powered tools:</p>

<ul><li><strong>Browsing Assist: </strong>Users will be able to create quick summaries of articles or web pages viewed within the Samsung Internet browser app.</li><li><strong>Chat Assist: </strong>This feature offers suggestions for improving grammar and phrasing while composing messages. It supports 13 different languages.</li><li><strong>Circle to Search with Google: </strong>With this feature, you can circle an object or area on-screen to find more information.</li><li><strong>Generative Edit:</strong> Users can remove unwanted elements from photos, reposition objects within images, and adjust perspectives for a more refined composition.</li><li><strong>Instant Slow-Mo:</strong> This feature applies AI processing to convert standard videos into slow-motion footage.</li><li><strong>Interpreter: </strong>Split-screen conversation mode assists in real-time communication between people who speak different languages.</li><li><strong>Live Translate: </strong>Provides real-time translation for both voice calls and within supported messaging apps.</li><li><strong>Note Assist:</strong> Summarizes text within the Samsung Notes app and can even apply certain formatting styles to the summary.</li><li><strong>Transcript Assist: </strong>Works alongside the Samsung Voice Recorder app to transcribe audio and tag multiple speakers. It can also create summaries of these recordings.</li></ul>

<p>While the above-mentioned Galaxy devices are now confirmed to receive the One UI 6.1 update, it appears that these advanced AI features will likely be exclusive to Samsung&#8217;s flagship devices released in 2023 and later.</p>

<p>Samsung continues to expand its product family. In line with this, the company recently introduced the Galaxy S24 series. Moreover, what made the event remarkable was not only the company&#8217;s new flagship smartphones but also the debut of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 6.1</a>. While the Samsung&#8217;s new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-14/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Android 14</a> based UI adds many new features to Galaxy phones, it also disables one of Android&#8217;s best notification features by default. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>One UI 6.1 Update Changes to Android&#8217;s Notification Channels by Default</strong></h2>

<p>The Samsung <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/one-ui-6-1/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">One UI 6.1</a> update disables one of Android&#8217;s best notification features by default. This feature, called notification channels, lets users manage different notification types for specific apps. Unfortunately, in One UI 6.1, this feature is not initially activated by default. This situation could negatively impact Samsung users who receive notifications from various apps, as important ones may get buried or dismissed since users receive all notifications by default.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-1024x536.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung One UI 6.1 AI features" class="wp-image-573423" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/Samsung-One-UI-6.1-AI-features.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Additionally, while notification channels can be easily found in the default settings of Android, in One UI 6.1, users need to navigate deeper into the interface to locate the setting. This can be confusing, especially for users who are not very good with technology. For this reason, some users believe that Samsung&#8217;s decision to make this change has adversely affected the fundamental functionality of Android. However, rest assured, opening the notification channels feature is not too difficult. To activate notification channels in One UI 6.1, just follow these steps:</p>

<ul><li>Open the Settings app.</li><li>Tap on Notifications.</li><li>Select Notification channels.</li><li>Choose the channel you want to enable.</li><li>Toggle the switch next to the channel to turn it on.</li></ul>

<p>By doing this, you can control which types of notifications you receive from specific apps. For example, if you want to get &#8220;DM&#8221; notifications from a social media app, just toggle the switch next to the DM option.</p>

<p>Alternatively, you can access notification channels through the app&#8217;s settings by selecting Manage Channels. This screen displays all the notification channels for the app, giving you the option to enable or disable them as needed. If you&#8217;re curious about when your device will receive the One UI 6.1 update,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/21/heres-when-your-samsung-galaxy-phone-or-tablet-will-get-the-one-ui-6-1-update/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> click here</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="536" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-1024x536.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung Galaxy One UI 6.1 update" class="wp-image-599520" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-1024x536.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-300x157.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-768x402.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-696x364.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-1068x559.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update-803x420.jpg 803w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Galaxy-One-UI-6.1-update.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>One UI 6.1 introduces new AI-powered features like &#8220;Live Translate&#8221; for real-time phone call translation, &#8220;Generative Edit&#8221; for advanced photo manipulation, and &#8220;Generative Wallpapers&#8221; for AI-designed customizable backgrounds. These additions aren&#8217;t revolutionary, but they offer practical functionality, with Live Translate potentially proving particularly useful for bridging communication gaps.</p>

<h2><strong>Which Galaxy devices are getting One UI 6.1 next?</strong></h2>

<p>Additionally, the One UI 6.1 update won&#8217;t be exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series. Samsung has already confirmed a rollout for several other devices, including:</p>

<ul><li>Galaxy S23</li><li>Galaxy S23+</li><li>Galaxy S23 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy S23 FE</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9+</li><li>Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 5</li><li>Galaxy Z Flip 5</li></ul>

<p>The One UI 6.1 update on these devices will be rolled out in the first half of 2024. Similarly, One UI 6.1 test builds have also been spotted for these devices so far <em>(via <a href="https://www.androidauthority.com/one-ui-6-eligible-devices-3362453/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Android Authority</a>)</em>:</p>

<ul><li>Galaxy S22 series</li><li>Galaxy S21 series</li><li>Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4</li><li>Galaxy S21 FE</li><li>Galaxy A54</li><li>Galaxy A34</li></ul>

<p>It’s worth noting that on older devices the more complex AI features may not function as smoothly due to less powerful processors. They might require an internet connection for processing, unlike the Galaxy S24&#8217;s partial on-device capabilities. Furthermore, not every feature might be available on all devices receiving the update.</p>

<p>Also, some of Samsung&#8217;s latest AI features will be free only “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2024/01/18/samsung-galaxy-ai-ree-until-2025/#:~:text=Samsung%20aims%20to%20achieve%20this,required%20to%20pay%20a%20fee." target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">until the end of 2025</a>.” After that, they might require a subscription, but Samsung hasn&#8217;t provided details on this yet. This means that even the new Galaxy S24 series could lose access to some AI features after 2025.</p>

<p>One UI 6.1, the latest Android skin for <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung</a> Galaxy devices, brings several changes, the most interesting being the new AI features. </p>

<p>Currently only available in new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/galaxy-s24/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S24</a> series devices, Samsung has introduced a bunch of interesting AI features like Circle to search, Live translation, and more. Along with this, the company has also improved upon existing features.</p>

<p>A notable upgrade is the new &#8220;Samsung Find&#8221; app, which has replaced the &#8220;SmartThings Find&#8221; feature in the SmartThings app.</p>

<p>First spotted by <a href="https://twitter.com/MishaalRahman/status/1747968160270106782" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mishaal Rahman</a>, Samsung Find is now a stand-alone app for your Galaxy device.  It&#8217;s more than just a rebranding of SmartThings Find; it includes a new function that allows users to track their family members&#8217; devices.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="289" height="628" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Find-app-One-UI-6.1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-599253" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Find-app-One-UI-6.1.jpg 289w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Find-app-One-UI-6.1-138x300.jpg 138w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/Samsung-Find-app-One-UI-6.1-193x420.jpg 193w" sizes="(max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Samsung Find app comes with three tabs: Devices, Items, and People. The Device tabs help you locate the Galaxy devices of you and your family on a map. The items tab lets you find misplaced Galaxy SmartTags attached to items like keys, wallets, or luggage, eliminating frantic searches. And finally, with the People tab, you can share your live location with family members and vice versa for real-time awareness and added security.</p>

<p>While offering these new features, Samsung Find currently lacks the &#8220;Notify When Left Behind&#8221; function. This previously available feature alerted users when they left a tagged item behind, such as keys or headphones. It&#8217;s unclear whether this feature will be reintroduced in future updates.</p>

<p>Samsung Find comes pre-installed on the new Galaxy S24 series and can be downloaded from the Galaxy Store for other devices receiving the One UI 6.1 update. </p>

<p>Samsung is quite determined to bring artificial intelligence technologies to our smartphones. The company, which has been struggling in flagship sales for a while and has obtained most of its market share from entry to mid-range models, believes that this technology will change the situation. In this direction, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/10/09/samsung-one-ui-6-1-ai-features/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">we recently heard about some features such as a more capable voice assistant</a>. Now, some features that Samsung will introduce with the One UI 6.1 update have leaked. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Samsung&#8217;s Upcoming Pixel-Inspired AI Features in One UI 6.1 Update</strong></h2>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/12/05/samsung-seeds-oneui-6-1-based-android-14-update-to-the-galaxy-s21-fe/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung&#8217;s One UI 6.1 update</a> is expected to launch alongside the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/12/02/samsung-galaxy-s24-leaks-reveal-design-specs-images-official/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Galaxy S24 series</a>. However, this new version includes more than just UI design changes and improvements. The company will update users with AI features that will enhance the harmony between the phone and the user, providing a personalized experience. In fact, these features are not entirely new; according to tipster Benit Bruhner, the Korean manufacturer has drawn plenty of inspiration from the artificial intelligence features recently introduced by Google in its Pixel models.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Samsung One UI 6.1" class="wp-image-589796" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/samsung-one-ui-6-1-update-ai-features-1.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p><strong>The One UI 6.1 update brings several noteworthy features:</strong></p>

<ul><li>AI-generated Wallpapers: Craft personalized wallpapers tailored to your preferences, similar to the functionality offered by Pixel 8.</li><li>Object Relocation and Photo Expansion: Edit photos by moving or removing objects, and expand backgrounds beyond their original boundaries.</li><li>Subject Transfer Between Photos: Seamlessly transfer subjects from one image to another for creative photo editing.</li><li>Smarter Samsung Notes: Enjoy enhanced note-taking with the ability to auto-format large text blocks into well-organized bullet points.</li><li>Live Translation for Calls: Effortlessly communicate across languages during phone calls with real-time translation.</li><li>Clearer Calls with Voice Focus: Improve call quality by eliminating background noise, a feature reminiscent of Pixel&#8217;s Clear Calling functionality.</li></ul>

<p>Of course, all the new features that the One UI 6.1 update will bring may not be limited to these. However, we have no choice but to wait until the Unpacked event in January to see more.</p>
